PHP - Check Even Number Of Each Character In String
I was wondering if anyone knows a good way to check for an even number of each character in a string. For example if the string is "abbacc" then it will return true as there are two of each character. However if the string is "ababc" it will return false as there is only 1 c. Thanks for any help

Hello, I'm working on an error form, and I want to check if the user inserted a number into the name field, and if so return an error. I thought this might of worked, but it doesn't: Code: [Select] if(is_int($_POST['name'])){ $arrErrors['name'] = 'Invalid name, remove numbers.'; } Many thanks I have this command that basically populates my website with titles for pages based on the information that is placed within "info.txt" I have multiple titles being created so I'd like a way of putting them in order beside alphabetically. My thought was that I could place numbers as the first character in the "info.txt" file and that would allow me to put the titles in an order I find acceptable. Now this causes the issue that I don't want those numbers displayed on my website. So the Echo needs to strip the number.... I'm lost, but my brain thinks it's a good idea. Here's the code I'm working with: Code: [Select] <tr> <td id="body"> <table id="columns" cellspacing="0"> <tr> <td> <h2>LSAV Latest Events</h2> <p>Select an event from below to view a gallery of images from that event.</p> <ul> <?php $dir = 'latest-events'; if ($handle = opendir($dir)) { while (false !== ($file = readdir($handle))) { if( $file != '.' && $file != '..') { $title = file_get_contents( "$dir/$file/info.txt" ); echo "<li><a href=\"event-viewer.php?event=$file\">$title</a></li>"; } } closedir($handle); Hey all, I'm looking to produce a random 10 character string like: abcABC0123 when the below method is called: <?php function randomize(){ $chars = explode(' ',(range("a","z"))) . explode(' ',(range("A","Z"))) . explode(' ',(range("0","9"))); $pass = ""; for($i = 0; $i < $len; $i += 1){ array_push($pass,$chars[rand(count($chars)-1)]); } return $pass; } var_dump(randomize(10)); ?> But the randomize method is not returning desired result. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks for response. The 2 in the quote above is the page number. How can I extract the number between the - and the .html and replace it with another number? I've tried Code: [Select] substr($engine->selectedcaturl, 0,-6).$v.".html"But then I realised this only works for numbers that are 1 digit long Any input would be appreciated I have a form with some dropdownlist that get populated dynamically(depends on what the user chooses) with jquery and an xml file. In the form I have a button that takes the info and populates another form with the values of the ddl. I have coded script which populates the second form with jquery and the name of each input get dynamically added like so: Code: [Select] <input type="text" value="'+model+'" name="Model_'+model+'" id="'+model+'" readonly size="'+model.length+'" /> <input type="text" value="'+model+'" name="Model'+model+'" id="'+model+'" readonly size="'+model.length+'" />> <input type="text" value="'+color+'" name="Color'+color+'" id="'+color+'" readonly size="'+color.length+'" /> <input type="text" value="'+part+'" name="Part'+part+'" id="'+part+'" readonly size="'+part.length+'" /> <input type="text" value="$'+price+'" name="Price'+price+'" id="'+price+'" readonly size="'+price.length+'" /> <input type="text" value="'+qty+'" name="Quantity'+qty+'" id="'+qty+'" readonly size="'+qty.length+'" /> <input type="text" value="'+total+'" name="Total'+total+'" id="'+total+'" readonly size="'+total.length+'" /> What I want to do is grab the name of the element and remove the underscore and everything else form rileft to right so I am left with just the word before the underscore. I tried using substr($key,0,-28) but that wont work since everything after the underscore will have a different length. I was wondering if there is a way i can keep everything before the underscore and remove the underscore and everything after that. Thanks in advance for any input I get. I have a kind of search and react on my site. The user can search for a number in a column as below $search = mysqli_real_escape_string($link, $_POST["query"]); $query = "SELECT * FROM $table[$i] WHERE oemnr LIKE '".$search."%' ORDER BY model";
The code works fine but I want to expand the function to get match for other numbers also. The oemnr column today can be 12345 which shows up if the user type 12.... I want to expand the oemnr column as 12345/03124/34713, numbers separated with / or another character. If the user type 03... or 34... I want to find and show 12345 because it is on the same row and corresponds to the numbers on the same row. Is it possible to do in mysql? In php that kind of operation can be done with the explode function but I don't know how to use with mysql. Edited February 14 by jiggaHi Guys just need some advice really I would like to know if there is a way I can check if a number is in a times table for example if(3 is in 4 times table){ do bla bla } the result for above will be false as 4 times table does not contain 3 if(12 is in 4 times table){ do bla bla } the above would be true Thanks guys Hello, I'm currently creating a little script, and want to assign a random number to a row in the MySQL table as soon as it will be inserted. But that number may not have been used before. How will I do this? I tried if else thingies, but then the code would be very long (just in case it randomly picks 10 times after each other a number that exists). $randomnumber = rand(10000000, 99999999); if(mysql_num_rows(mysql_query("SELECT * FROM table WHERE randomnumber='".$randomnumber."')) == 1) { $randomnumber = rand(10000000, 99999999); if(mysql_num_rows(mysql_query("SELECT * FROM table WHERE randomnumber='".$randomnumber."')) == 1) { $randomnumber = rand(10000000, 99999999); }else { // Insert into database } }else { // Insert into database } I hope you understand my problem. Regards, Hi, I'm totally new to PHP and I'm afraid I don't understand a lot yet. However, I need to make this: when you fill in a number in a form, it should be displayed whether the number is odd or even. I tried the following code, which is obviously not working and I have no idea on how to fix this. Code: [Select] <?php $var = $_POST['var']; for ($i = 0; $i < $var; $i++) { if ($i % 2 == 0) { print("even"); } else { print("odd"); } } ?> How can I test if a string has a number at the end? i.e. smith1 instead of smith? I won't know how long the string is or whether there is more than 1 number but I will know that the string's last character is a number. I can't figure out how to pull the number from a form name Unfortunately I cant use substr(); because non of the names are the same length... these are the form names cat_sub_id_1 cat_name_1 cat_order_1 cat_sub_id_2 cat_name_2 cat_order_2 cat_sub_id_3 cat_name_3 cat_order_3 this is a list of the numbers that I need to be pulled out. I have a really weird thing that I have to do, and I can't figure it out. I've tried about 1 million nested loops, and just can't get this to work. What I need to do is get the longest number from a string. So, for example, take the following: $string = "asdfasd234kjljlkjlj34659823423sadfasdadasdfasdfas d3242sdasddsda2"; function getNumber($a) { //do something with $string and return the longest number from it } so that ... echo getNumber($string); will return '34659823423' Thanks in advance, fellas! I've really been racking my brain there. Hey guys, I have a url that looks like this http://www.mysite.com/our-company-t-2.html I need to extract the number at the end. It's 2 here but could be 2478 for example. Just wondering how I can do this. Would it need to do something like look for anything between "-" and ".html" ? |
