PHP - Viewing Full User Data After $_get Request
Hi,
Firstly, I am a complete newcomer to PHP though I am enjoying my first tentative steps into learning the language! I have been searching Google for hours now to try and find a simple solution to a problem I just can't seem to figure out, though I thought would be easy to find? I have found a lot of very informative solutions to other questions on this forum so figured it was the best one to join? My question is: I have built and can interact with a simple database and now populate a page with usernames in a list. Each one is a link which, when clicked sends the username to another page. On this page I use the $_GET function and see the username displayed ok. What I can't figure out is how to then display other information about them from the fields in the database identified with that user? Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is driving me nuts! Also can anyone suggest a good book for learning PHP? There are lots out there but the reviews on Amazon seem to always talk about coding errors in print etc. so I really don't know which one to buy? FF Similar TutorialsI'm looking for a way to get the full url of the current page. something like $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'] but the full thing. request uri doesn't work well for my situation, because my script is in a subdirectory of a domain. http://localhost/script. When I use request uri, it also includes "/script", which it should. Is there anyway to request the full URL? Hello First of all thanks for your help in advance. I build a members website and can use HTML but seem to be going round in circles with php. So Ive made a page that allows users to input there details and register this DOES Work and adds the data to a mysql data base. However I would like when they click register it sends them a email to confirm there info and at the same time send myself one so I can check there details. this is the link http://www.asian-travel-club.co.uk/php/files/register.htm Once this is done I would like to be able to see on a admin page that has a username and password to allow me to active and deactive there members. I know this would need a button added this is where I get lost. the link to the admin page ive made is http://www.asian-travel-club.co.uk/php/files/admin/ Then once i actived them they will recive an auto activtion email . I dont seem to be able to see data from the Database on mysql but i can interact with it. As one you register if you try to log in it say that the username and passwodr is incorrect. I TAKE IT IS BECAUSE THE USER DOES NOT HAVE PERMISSION> how do i do this? Any way if you go to forot password page it allows you to enter data and on submittion it chz the database and then sends you an email with your username and password attached. This is the link to the password recover page. http://www.asian-travel-club.co.uk/php/files/password_recover.php this is what is in my config.php <?php define('DB_SERVER', ''); // database server/host define('DB_USER', ''); // database username define('DB_PASS', ''); // database password define('DB_NAME', ''); // database name ?> Please help if you can I know that I can fairly easily pull my data from the database and view it in a browser. I can also 'polish' it with some HTML or put it into a table. Can I get an item from a given VARIABLE to appear inside of an INPUT box, so that it looks the same as when it was initially submitted? Can it be done with a multiple choice SELECT dropdown, so that the item chosen is viewable again? I have coded a database and I dont like how the user can edit the titles through the get variable. Is there anyway I could stop that? Wouldnt getting each request from the database slow down the site? <?php include "config.php"; include "functions.php"; $SITEURL = addSlash($SITEURL); $action = $_GET['action']; $state = $_GET['state']; $city = $_GET['city']; $id = $_GET['id']; echo $SITEURL; switch($action) { case 'cities': include 'templates/cities.php'; break; case 'place': include 'templates/place.php'; break; case 'places': include 'templates/places.php'; break; default: include 'templates/home.php'; break; } ?> #places.php <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title><?php echo $siteTitle; ?></title> </head> <body> <h2><?php echo $SITETOPIC." in ".$city.",".getStateName($state); ?></h2> <?php $query = "SELECT DISTINCT biz_name, biz_id FROM animalshelter WHERE city = '".$city."'"; $result = mysql_query($query) or die(mysql_error()); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo "<a href=http://".$SITEURL."place/".$state."/".urlencode($city)."/".$row['biz_id'].">".$row['biz_name']."</a><br />"; } ?> </body> </html> #.htaccess # .htaccess mod_rewrite # demo.com Options +FollowSymlinks Options +Indexes RewriteEngine On RewriteBase /databaseSite/ ErrorDocument 404 /templates/404.php RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-l RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z]+)/([a-zA-Z]+)$ index.php?action=$1&state=$2 [QSA,NC] RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z]+)/([a-zA-Z]+)/([a-zA-Z\+\_\-]+)$ index.php?action=$1&state=$2&city=$3 [QSA,NC] RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z]+)/([a-zA-Z]+)/([a-zA-Z\+\_\-]+)/([0-9]+)$ index.php?action=$1&state=$2&city=$3&id=$4 [QSA,NC] Can you see if a request (post/get) is from a curl request or an actual user? I am trying to defeat a little bit of fraud. Hey guys, I can't wrap my head around how to make this work right... I have three tables: Code: [Select] CREATE TABLE `games` ( `g_id` int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `name` varchar(150) DEFAULT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`g_id`)); CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `game_player` ( `r_id` int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `p_id` int(11) DEFAULT NULL, `g_id` int(11) DEFAULT NULL, `bool` int(1) NOT NULL DEFAULT '0', PRIMARY KEY (`r_id`)); CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `players` ( `p_id` int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `playerid` varchar(150) NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`p_id`), UNIQUE KEY `playerid` (`playerid`)); The players table is my list of users, and they're tied to the list of games via the game_player table. So here's my issue... I'm trying to show the full list of games, and then check mark each record where the player does play it. This is what I have so far - it shows all the games, but it's not checking the boxes. Code: [Select] $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM games") or die(mysql_error()); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $newquery = "SELECT * FROM game_player, players WHERE game_player.p_id = players.p_id AND game_player.g_id = ".$row['g_id']. " AND players.playerid = {$userid}"; $query = mysql_query($newquery) or die(mysql_error()); if($query['bool'] == 1) { $set_checked = " CHECKED"; } else{ $set_checked = ""; } echo "<input type=\"checkbox\" name=\"box1\" value=\"".$query['g_id']."\"" . $set_checked . "/>".$row['name']."<br />\n"; } Hello, I need to execute a remote web page (distant server) every X seconds. How is it possible and is there any way to make it look exactly like a normal user request through a standard browser like Firefox, Chrome, etc. ? I've heard of cURL, but it seems that servers may block it, so there must be somehow a difference between a usual user request and a cURL execution. Thank you for any help ! :-) Matthew I'm trying to add voucher codes to my shopping basket. When someone submits a voucher code it adds ?vouchercode=WHATEVERTHECODE to the URL. I then $_GET this data and store is as $_SESSION['vouchercode']. The problem is, on the next page it $_GET's the ?vouchercode again, which is this time blank, and sets the session to blank as well. Any help? Here's my code: Code: [Select] $vouchercode = $_GET['vouchercode']; $_SESSION['vouchercode'] = $vouchercode; if ($rows['brand'] == 'Dank' AND $_SESSION['vouchercode'] == 'DANKINT') { echo 'Voucher Code DANKINT Used'; } After several attempts, I now have data displayed on my index.php page, but the data is from all rows. Luckily I have two rows. The page also has a menu - with two links. What I would like help with is: How to display index.php with just the data for it - i.e. home page data. How to display data if either the ‘home’ or ‘copyright’ links are clicked. I understand you can use $_GET[‘id’], and isset(), but I don’t know how to do that. I include the full html page code: <?php // database connection require_once('admin/databasecon.php'); ?> <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <?php include 'includes/headsection.php'; ?> <body> <?php // displaying data $table = "pages"; // table $sqli = "SELECT * FROM $table ORDER BY id ASC"; $result = $conn->query($sqli); ?> <!-- topMenu --> <table id="topMenu"> <tr> <td><h1 class="siteName">Scarab Beetle</h1></td> <?php if ($result = mysqli_query($conn, $sqli)) { while($row = $result->fetch_assoc()) { echo "<td class='navItem'>" . "<a href=index.php>" . $row["menuheader"] . "</a>" . "</td>"; } } ?> </tr> </table> <!-- topMenu end --> <!-- timeline menu --> Menu goes here <!-- timeline menu end --> <!-- page title --> <?php if ($result = mysqli_query($conn, $sqli)) { while($row = $result->fetch_assoc()) { echo "<h1 class='centered'>" . $row["pageheader"] . "</h1>"; } } ?> <hr> <!-- page content --> <?php if ($result = mysqli_query($conn, $sqli)) { while($row = $result->fetch_assoc()) { echo $row["pagetext"]; } } ?> <hr> <div class="clear"></div> <!-- footer content --> <?php include 'includes/footersection.php'; ?> <!-- footer content end --> </body> </html> Any help to achieve what I want will be appreciated. Thank you. I recently had a customer say that one of my forms isn't working. For some reason the ID number is getting lost when she submits the form. The form code looks like: ... print "<form method='post' name='form' action='update.php'>"; ... print "<input type='hidden' name='id' value=\"$id\" />"; print "<input type='submit' name='submit' value=\"Save Session\" />"; print "</form>"; ... And the PHP code that gets executed looks like: ... //GET SESSION ID if(isset($_GET['id'])) { //ID from HTML link, before updates have been made $id = $_GET['id']; } elseif(isset($_POST['id'])) { //ID from form, after updates have been made $id = $_POST['id']; } else { $id = ''; } //IF SESSION ID IS VALID if(preg_match("/^\d+$/", $id)) { ... //ELSE, INVALID ID } else { $msg = "<span class='errorText'>Session ID not found or invalid.</span>"; } ... For some reason she usually gets the "Session ID not found..." error when submitting the form. Do you see any problems with the above code? Note that she has been able to sucessfully use the form before (in the same day); we have nearly 1,800 records submitted using these forms; and I am unable to duplicate the issue. So I'm at a loss on what to do next. Also, she talked with her IT person about the form. The IT person was able to submit data on his computer. So he reset her Internet options which seemed to fix the problem on her end temporarily. Note that she is using IE 7. She also said that she doesn't have access to any other browsers. I'm tempted to chalk this up as a personal computer issue, but wanted to get your input first. Hi, I am a curious fellow just beginning to use PHP. I understand the basics of what the $_GET and $_POST superglobals do, and how we can use them to retrieve data after form submission. I also know that since $_GET and $_POST are just associate arrays, we can create our own values in both $_GET and $_POST by writing statements like $_POST['variable'] = "value". I am wondering if it is at all possible to send data beyond form data by adding new key/value pairs into $_GET and $_POST. So for example, if I had a form that transferred username/password through Post, would it be possible for me to include further data by just saying $_POST['formtype'] = "house_insurance_form"? Basically what I'm getting at is trying to physically add your own data to $_POST or $_GET that you could pull from the next page where the form redirects to. In other words, can I send data beyond form data using these superglobals? I know I can do this with $_SESSION, but could I do it through $_POST or $_GET? I haven't been able to accomplish this, and I was just wondering if someone could give me an in-depth explanation of how this might work or how this is not possible. I would really really really appreciate it. Best Regards, -Sky The subject could be a bit vague, but my problem is simple. (I think so) So I made a php test site that is quite similar to a forum. Where you see a title or a subject and when you click on it you will see more details about that subject. I made my database and script for inserting data into my mySQL database. I also did my output aswell, so every topic is posted on a webpage "archive" where you can see all the subjects. But now I want to see the full details of that type of subject by clicking on it. I have no idea how to make that happen googled it but didn't find any results...just wondering if it's even possible to do that. I'm a new guy here! I have two tables. Table Name:Users Fields: User_name user_email user_level pwd 2.Reference Fields: refid username origin destination user_name in the users table and the username field in reference fields are common fields. There is user order form.whenever an user places an order, refid field in reference table will be updated. So the user will be provided with an refid Steps: 1.User needs to log in with a valid user id and pwd 2.Once logged in, there will be search, where the user will input the refid which has been provided to him during the time of order placement. 3.Now User is able to view all the details for any refid 3.Up to this we have completed. Query: Now we need to retrieve the details based on the user logged in. For eg: user 'USER A' has been provided with the referenceid '1234' during the time of order placement user 'USER B' has been provided with the referenceid '2468' during the time of order placement When the userA login and enter the refid as '2468' he should not get any details. He should get details only for the reference ids which is assigned to him. <?php session_start(); if (!$_SESSION["user_name"]) { // User not logged in, redirect to login page Header("Location: login.php"); } $con = mysql_connect('localhost','root',''); if (!$con) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db("login", $con); $user_name = $_POST['user_name']; $refid = $_POST['refid']; $query = "SELECT * from reference, users WHERE reference.username=users.user_name AND reference.refid='$refid' AND "; $result = mysql_query($query) or trigger_error('MySQL encountered a problem<br />Error: ' . mysql_error() . '<br />Query: ' . $query); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo $row['refid']; echo $row['origin']; echo $row['dest']; echo $row['date']; echo $row['exdate']; echo $row['username']; } echo "<p><a href=\"logout.php\">Click here to logout!</a></p>"; ?> <html> <form method="post" action="final.php"> Ref Id:<input type="text" name="refid"> <input type="submit" value="submit" name="submit"> </html> Say there is a complex opt in process where people start to enter their data but certain questions stop them where they close out of the page. They already entered their data and I feel there is a way to grab it and post it to mysql even though they do not click submit.
How would this be done?
A super simple example (proof of concept) or a link to a tutorial would be very useful.
Edited by brentman, 23 September 2014 - 10:42 AM. You: As a PHP expert, you find the prospect of building yet another brochure-ware website distressing; you want to get your hands dirty building an advanced, MVC based application in a fun and supportive environment where you will be constantly challenged, always learning and delivering a product used by millions of people every day.
Our company was founded and is managed by developers who wrote the original software the company was built upon; the technical team are the core of our business. As a member of that team, it will be you who decides upon the on-going development of our technical stack as well as the product itself. You will of course have complete control over your workstation.
Our stack:
Qualifications:
A passion for programming, solving problems and building software customers love.
Experience building web-based applications as distinct from brochure-ware websites.
An expert in OOP/MVC/ORM programming techniques and PHP (v5.3+) frameworks. We happen to use Symfony2 but any relevant experience is fine.
You can bend MySQL to your will.
Solid front-end development experience with XHTML, CSS, and Javascript. Our stack includes AngularJS, CoffeeScript, jQuery and LESS.
An appreciation for a beautiful GUI and excellent user experience.
Expectation of a fast moving, agile environment. We ship code to customers daily – we’d expect you contribute from day 1.
You can validate your skills for example with source code samples, a github profile, contributions to an open source project, developer blog, stackoverflow answers etc.
What you will do:
Design (with help) and develop new channels for our software. In particular we are looking at apps using twilio (for voice/sms), facebook and twitter as well as a web based screensharing tool.
Integrate our software into other 3rd party applications. This could both be via APIs (salesforce, jira, 37signals) or through digging directly into the source code (sugarCRM, xenforo etc).
Continue improve and refine our existing channels and product. We are never satisfied and always looking for that small improvement, refactor or redesign that can increase usability, speed and functionality for our customers.
Work on our backend systems including internal developer tools and deployment processes, our SaaS application stack or the tools we have to manage our business.
Work on our mobile apps, built using our API / HTML5 and PhoneGap
About us:
Our principle product is DeskPRO, the helpdesk software platform. We make it easy for organisations (companies – large and small, charities, public sector organisations) to communicate with their users via email, twitter, facebook, SMS, web forms, live chat (text and voice) as well as providing publishing self-help tools, sales management, co-working tools and community based question and answers. DeskPRO is a platform where customers install the helpdesk applications they need to manage their business.
We sell this software to a range of organisations including large companies (e.g. Tumblr, Xerox, T-mobile, Fujitsu, Valve Software and AT&T) universities and the public sector all the way through to small family businesses. We have a dual license model; selling licenses to software installed on our clients’ servers (we don’t encrypt the code – so your code will get read!) and offering a fully managed SaaS solution. Millions of people use our software every day and a lot of agents spend their whole working day using it constantly.
What we offer:
Competitive salary based upon experience.
Friendly work environment at the Innovation Warehouse in Farringdon: http://theiw.org/.

not return anything after posting a wwwForm (I have also tried the newer equivalent of this function but I had no luck with that either.) The nameField and passwordField are taken from text boxes within the game and the code used in my login script is copied and pasted from a Register script but I have changed the file location to the login.php file. The register script works fine and I can add new users to my database but the login script only outputs "Form Sent." and not the "present" that should return when the form is returned and it never gets any further than that point meaning that it lets the user through with no consequence if they use an invalid name because the script never returns an answer. What should I do to fix this? Thanks, Unity Code: using System.Collections; using UnityEngine; using UnityEngine.UI; using UnityEngine.Networking; public class Login : MonoBehaviour { public InputField nameField; public InputField passwordField; public Button acceptSubmissionButton; public void CallLogInCoroutine() { StartCoroutine(LogIn()); } IEnumerator LogIn() { WWWForm form = new WWWForm(); form.AddField("username", nameField.text); form.AddField("password", passwordField.text); WWW www = new WWW("http://localhost/sqlconnect/login.php", form); Debug.Log("Form Sent."); yield return www; Debug.Log("Present"); if (www.text[0] == '0') { Debug.Log("Present2"); DatabaseManager.username = nameField.text; DatabaseManager.score = int.Parse(www.text.Split('\t')[1]); Debug.Log("Log In Success."); } else { Debug.Log("User Login Failed. Error #" + www.text); } } public void Validation() { acceptSubmissionButton.interactable = nameField.text.Length >= 7 && passwordField.text.Length >= 8; } } login.php: <?php echo "Test String2"; $con = mysqli_connect('localhost', 'root', 'root', 'computer science coursework'); // check for successful connection. if (mysqli_connect_errno()) { echo "1: Connection failed"; // Error code #1 - connection failed. exit(); } $username = mysqli_escape_string($con, $_POST["username"]); $usernameClean = filter_var($username, FILTER_SANITIZE_STRING, FILTER_FLAG_STRIP_LOW | FILTER_FLAG_STRIP_HIGH); $password = $_POST["password"]; if($username != $usernameClean) { echo "7: Illegal Username, Potential SQL Injection Query. Access Denied."; exit(); } // check for if the name already exists. $namecheckquery = "SELECT username, salt, hash, score FROM players WHERE username='" . $usernameClean . "';"; $namecheck = mysqli_query($con, $namecheckquery) or die("2: Name check query failed"); // Error code # 2 - name check query failed. if (mysqli_num_rows($namecheck) != 1) { echo "5: No User With Your Log In Details Were Found Or More Than One User With Your Log In Details Were Found"; // Error code #5 - other than 1 user found with login details exit(); } // get login info from query $existinginfo = mysqli_fetch_assoc($namecheck); $salt = $existinginfo["salt"]; $hash = $existinginfo["hash"]; $loginhash = crypt($password, $salt); if ($hash != $loginhash) { echo "6: Incorrect Password"; // error code #6 - password does not hash to match table exit; } echo "Test String2"; echo"0\t" . $existinginfo["score"]; ?>
Doing something wrong, but don't see it. How should one retrieve a POST parameter? My $request->toArray()['html'] works, but I am sure it is not the "right way". <?php namespace App\DataPersister; use ApiPlatform\Core\DataPersister\DataPersisterInterface; use Symfony\Component\HttpFoundation\RequestStack; class ArchivePersister implements DataPersisterInterface { public function __construct(RequestStack $requestStack) { $request = $requestStack->getCurrentRequest(); syslog(LOG_ERR, '$request->getMethod(): '.$request->getMethod()); syslog(LOG_ERR, '$request->getContent(): '.$request->getContent()); syslog(LOG_ERR, '$request->request->get(html): '.$request->request->get('html')); syslog(LOG_ERR, '$request->query->get(html): '.$request->query->get('html')); syslog(LOG_ERR, '$request->get(html): '.$request->get('html')); syslog(LOG_ERR, '$request->toArray(): '.json_encode($request->toArray())); syslog(LOG_ERR, '$request->toArray()[html]: '.$request->toArray()['html']); } } output $request->getMethod(): POST $request->getContent(): {"project":"/projects/1","description":"","html":"<p>{{ project_name }}</p>"} $request->request->get(html): $request->query->get(html): $request->get(html): $request->toArray(): {"project":"\/projects\/1","description":"","html":"<p>{{ project_name }}<\/p>"} $request->toArray()[html]: <p>{{ project_name }}</p> A few months ago, and a good amount of time before that, I had people telling me to use isset() instead of performing to see if the variable is empty, such as: !$_GET[''] I know the differences in the function and what they do, but when could isset() be used in a situation where it's better/more efficient then: !$_GET[''] I do use isset(), though. Hello all, I am hoping that someone can help me out with some code that I have.
