PHP - Searching In Text
I have a text string and I need to find the value that appears after a certain value:
Value that appears after "XXX:" "Test 123 Hello XXX: 1 Test 555"; So the value would be "1" Any ideas? Similar TutorialsI am trying to make a little script that allows a user to search for blocks of text within strings. The user enters data into form fields and he or she can enter text into another form field (needle) to search the data fields (haystack). When the search string matches something in the data fields the associated data fields are highlighted in a yellow background color. Right now the search string is acting funny. When I enter a search string I get no highlighting unless if the first character(s) of the search string are the same as the first character(s) for the items. For instance, If I search for the text "at" in the word "bat" I will not get any yellow highlighting. But I would get highlighting for "bat" if I search for "ba." How would I change the code so that any data field is highlighted if the search string exists anywhere in the text for the data field? Also, I figured out how to stop the form fields from being yellow if they and the search field are empty/NULL, but I did this part in another file (as an IF statement) and can't seem to get it to work in the other file. How would I make it do the highlighting if and only if there is a search string in the search field (i. e. only highlighting when the search field is not NULL/empty). I have a large text file that I need to search and extract text from. I have some code that somewhat works but is not good for what I need because it only reads one line at a time. I need to be able to echo all code between two strings and continue scanning the entire document. I need it to output all lines of text between two matches for example any text between "Problem:" and "Check:" should be Echo'd and any text between "Check:" and "Likely:" should be echo'd there may be 1 line or 20 lines of text between the tags... I need to print all lines between the 2 determined search strings and then continue through the text file displaying all matches between the search strings in a large file. any thoughts on how I can get this done or point me in the right direction? The coding is technically correct, but the idea behind it is wrong. Basically at the moment, the script receives this: thesite.com/search.php?q=xxxx&Submit=Search The search script then runs a database query to search the tag coloumn, looking for like $q. This would work, however the structure of the coloumn is tag1, tag2, tag3, tag4. The problem with the current system, is because the pictures have alot of tags and the database query is $like $q, it just shows all images in the database as the result I am including my test.php for other to run. I have a very large array of concatenated hash values. I have another array that contains the first 8 hash values of the other array. I have a function to locate them in the larger array. Depending on their index value I then choose the index of the value before or behind them for adding to something else later. This 'computeWalk' method works for small arrays but for larger arrays I notice duplicates or errors with larger ones. For example. The first array returns: Array ( => 1 [1] => 18 [2] => 18 [3] => 35 [4] => 33 [5] => 33 ) The values for i's to get each of these values are I = 0 I = 19 I = 29 I = 34 I = 37 I = 39 Walking through the method by hand, 0%2 = 0 So the first element of the array will be 1. CORRECT. 19%2 = 1 So the next element will be 18. CORRECT. 29%2 = 1 The next element should be 28. It returns 18. 34%2 = 0 The next element will be 35. Correct. 37%2 = 1 The next element should be 36. It returns 33. 39%2 = 1 The next element should be 38. It returns 33. I am not sure why it's doing the above. I also tried array_search and it computed it the same way. Instead it just dumps around 30 entries onto the page. Can anyone point me in the direction of how to search two columns? All the files will be in one folder, and I've written a script that will let me search the file names just fine. Each file though, has a header, with the actual title of of the document, since sometimes the file names are abbreviated.
