PHP - Problem With Delete Sql Function
Hi, ppl, my problem is that whenever the DELETE link is clicked, a javascript confirm box pops up and it should only delete the record with the ID from the $_GET global array if the user clicks the OK button, otherwise it should just redirect to the table of entries WITHOUT DELETION, but somehow it IS DELETING even when CANCEL button of javascript confirm box clicked. Here's my code below:
<html> <head><title> </title> </head> <body> <?php require "bellConnect.inc.php"; $ID=$_GET['ID']; $result=mysql_query("SELECT * FROM bellProducts WHERE ID=$ID"); $row=mysql_fetch_assoc($result); $name=$row['Name']; $manufacturer=$row['Manufacturer']; print "Value of ID is $ID"; ?> <script type='text/javascript'> var confirmDelete=confirm("Are you sure you want to delete <?php echo "$name $manufacturer"?> ?"); if(confirmDelete) { <?php $deletedResult=mysql_query("DELETE FROM bellProducts WHERE ID=$ID"); ?> alert("<?php echo "$name $manufacturer" ?> has been deleted successfully."); window.location="http://localhost/index.php"; } else if(!confirmDelete) { window.location="http://localhost/index.php"; } </script> </body> </html> **please help me someone!!! thanks Similar TutorialsHi all. I made a private messaging system. There is a select all checkbox, but how do I create a function that says delete all of the selected messages? I'm just looking for some logic on this. Hello Everyone, I am writing a simple CMS system for someone. I am having trouble getting the delete function to work. I pick the user that I want to remove from the system. I verify that this is the right person to remove. Then the record is deleted from the database. The part that picks the person and verifies that it is the right person to remove from the database work fine. It is the part that actually deletes the record. It takes me back to the pick_user.php. If someone could help me with this I would appreciate it This is the code from the show_user_del.php <?php if (!$_POST[id]) { header ("LOCATION: pick_user.php"); exit; } if ($_COOKIE[auth] != "ok") { header("Location: ../login.php"); } require('../includes/auth_user.php'); //build and issue query $sql = "SELECT * FROM $table WHERE id = '$_POST[id]'"; $result = mysql_query($sql, $connection) or die(mysql_error()); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $f_name = $row['f_name']; $l_name = $row['l_name']; $username = $row['username']; $password = $row['password']; } ?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Add Classified Ad</title> </head> <body> <h2><em>Delete user from Database</em></h2> <h3>User being deleted <?php echo "$f_name $l_name"; ?></h3> <form method="POST" action="do_delete_user.php"> <input type="hidden" name="id" value="<?php echo "$_POST[id]"; ?>" /> <input type="hidden" name="f_name" value="<?php echo "$f_name"; ?>" /> <input type="hidden" name="l_name" value="<?php echo "$l_name"; ?>" /> <p> <strong>Name:</strong> <?php echo "$f_name $l_name"; ?> </p> <p> <strong>Username:</strong> <?php echo "$username"; ?> </p> <p> <strong>Password:</strong> <?php echo "$password"; ?> </p> <p> <input type="submit" name="submit" id="name" value="Delete User" /> </p> </form> <p><a href="../admin_menu.php">Return to Administration Menu</a></p> </body> </html> When the submit button is clicked in the above code. I have a dynamic script and need to create a click event function with JavaScript to delete the row which has a checkbox checked when the delete button is pressed. Not sure where I am going wrong with my syntax, but something is not working. The entries are not deleting nor am I receiving any errors. I am stumped. Here is the code. I shortened it for readability. It deletes the record okay, but if I have: 1 2 3 4 and delete 3, then 4 should become 3 but 4 stays as 4 until it moves two places and then it becomes 3. I am sure its related to part of this code, but please let me know if you have any ideas. Cheers Pockitz // delete row from table $sql = "DELETE FROM images WHERE imgsequenceid = '$seqid'"; $result = mysql_query($sql) or die(mysql_error()); if($result){ echo "Image $seqid successfully deleted from $id"; }else{ echo "ERROR"; } // select the info, ordering by sequenceid $sql = "SELECT imgsequenceid, imgid FROM images ORDER BY imgsequenceid"; $result = mysql_query($sql) or die(mysql_error()); // initialize a counter for rewriting sequenceid $seqid = 1; // while there is info to be fetched... while ($r = mysql_fetch_assoc($result)) { $imgid = $r['imgid']; // update the sequenceid number to the one in the next number $sql = "UPDATE images SET imgsequenceid = '$seqid' WHERE imgid = '$imgid'"; $update = mysql_query($sql) or die(mysql_error()); // inc to next avail number $seqid++; } // end while } // end if del Hi,
I wish to find out is there any possible that I can delete some data inside my php website but inside my sql database, the record will still at there?
Thank you.
I'm trying to set it so that it will delete an entire populated directory based upon a value in the database then after finishing that to go back and delete that row in the database. my current code is Code: [Select] <?php $page_title = "Central Valley LLC | Photo Addition" ?> <?php include("header.php"); ?> <?php include("nav.html"); ?> <div id="content"> <form action="delprod.php" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <label for="which">Choose A Product To Remove:</label> <?php $con = mysql_connect("localhost","phoenixi_cv","centraladmin"); if (!$con) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db("phoenixi_cvproducts", $con); $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM Products"); echo "<select name=\"which\">"; while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo "<option "; echo "value=\"" . $row['id'] . "\">"; echo $row['Name'] . "</option>"; } echo "</select>"; mysql_close($con); ?> <br /> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Submit" /> </form> </div><!--#content--> <?php include("footer.html") ?> and the delete script Code: [Select] <?php $con = mysql_connect("localhost","phoenixi_cv","centraladmin"); if (!$con) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db("phoenixi_cvproducts", $con); $result = mysql_query("SELECT id FROM Products WHERE id=$_POST['which']"); $row = mysql_fetch_array($result) chdir('assets'); chdir('images'); $mydir = $row . '/'; $d = dir($mydir); while($entry = $d->read()) { if($entry!="." && $entry!="..") { unlink($_POST['which'] . '/' . $entry); } } rmdir($mydir); $result = mysql_query("DELETE * FROM Producs WHERE id=$_POST['which']"); ?> Thank you in advance for all your help. any easier ways of approaching this will be welcome as well I have a function that needs to return a value and it isn’t.I think it’s a scope issue but can’t solve it. The function is function is_connected() { $addr= 'www.google.com'; if (!$socket = @fsockopen($addr, 80, $num, $error, 5)){ $connection = 0; }else { $connection = 1; { return $connection; } is_connected() echo $connection; The function works, but I do get a warning $connection not defined and I don’t get a value. Any help appreciated. |
