PHP - Help Editing An Xml File From An Array
I've been working with PHP for only a few weeks now. I have learned a significant amount by creating a custom web app. I can usually figure things out by massive Googling and trial and error but this one has got me stumped.
I have a form for this web app that I'd like to use as a configuration page. It houses all of the settings that the web app needs. On the backend, I'm housing all of this data in a XML file. So far, I've been able to parse the XML file to populate all of the appropriate fields in the HTML form. However, I'm having trouble taking the user's input and saving it back to the same XML. To do this, I have a processconfig.php page as the form's action. In this process.php page, I'm using the elements from the $_POST array to bring over all of the data in the form's fields. I want to take these $_POST array elements and insert them into the same XML that originally populated the form in the first place. With the code below I've been able to get the SimpleXML object to add data to the XML file but it is simply appended to the end with no formatting. As you can see, I've tried to name the form fields the same name as it's POST array element so that I can do the loop but it's not working. Is there an easier way to do this or is there another recommended way to retrieve and store configuration items for a web app? Here's my code: config.xml snippet Code: [Select] <Config> <General> <Logging> <Enabled>No</Enabled> </Logging> <QueryBuybackSites> <Enabled>Yes</Enabled> </QueryBuybackSites> <BuildFBA> <Enabled>No</Enabled> </BuildFBA> <BuildBB> <Enabled>No</Enabled> </BuildBB> <FBARankCutoff> <Value>1000000</Value> </FBARankCutoff> <Amazon0Offer> <DefaultPrice> <Value>47.77</Value> </DefaultPrice> <AutoKeep> <Enabled>Yes</Enabled> </AutoKeep> </Amazon0Offer> </General> </Config> configview.php snippet Code: [Select] <?php //Load all configuration data $configxml = simplexml_load_file('config.xml'); echo '<html> <head> <title>Easy Receive Configuration</title> </head> <body> <form action="processconfig.php" enctype="multipart/form-data" id="emf-form" method="post"> <table bgcolor="#FFFFFF" border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0" style="text-align: left;"> <tbody> <tr> <td colspan="2" style=""> <font color="#000000" face="Verdana" size="2"><b style="font-size: 20px;">Easy Receive Configuration Settings</b><br /> <label style="font-size: 15px;">This is where you can customize Easy Receive to your personal preferences</label></font> </td> </tr> <tr valign="top"> <td colspan="2" style=""> <hr /> <h3 id="element_0" name="element_0" style="font-size: 14px; padding: 10px 0pt 6px; margin: 14px 0pt; position: static;"> <span style="font-size: 24px;"><font color="#000000" face="Verdana">General Configuration Options</font></span></h3> </td> </tr> <tr valign="top"> <td align="" style=""> <p> <strong>Enable Logging</strong> <input name="General->Logging->Enabled" type="checkbox" ' . htmlify($configxml->General->Logging->Enabled) . ' /></p> </td> </tr> <tr valign="top"> <td align="" style=""> <p> <font color="#000000" face="Verdana" size="2"><strong>Build FBA shipment on the fly</strong> <input name="General->BuildFBA->Enabled" type="checkbox" ' . htmlify($configxml->General->BuildFBA->Enabled) . ' /></font></p> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </form></body> </html>'; function htmlify($input) { if ($input == "Yes") return "checked"; else return ""; } ?> processconfig.php snippet Code: [Select] <?php $xmlstring = file_get_contents('config.xml'); $configxml = new SimpleXMLElement($xmlstring); foreach ($_POST as $attrib=>$value){ $configxml->$attrib = $value; } $configxml->asXML('config.xml'); ?> Similar TutorialsI need to open a template file change a text var and then save the file as something new. How can I do this? Hey, Currently i have a chat room which calls my database quite frequently... so im thinking i can lower the heavy load from my server by taking it off MYSQL methods and using PHP read/write/delete methods of a text file. Now i have two issues with this... first one is: Code: [Select] <?php $myFile = "chatlist.txt"; $fh = fopen($myFile, 'w') or die("can't open file"); $stringData = $Message.'<br/>'; fwrite($fh, $stringData); fclose($fh); ?> This writes the most recent line, how ever the next line that gets sent overwrites so theres only ever one line in the txt file =/ Secondly how on earth do you delete a specific line from the file efficiently ? Say for example a line which broke the rules some how like spam was posted etc. Hope you get shed light on this. Thanks I'm trying to utilize a PHP script to parse a large XML file (around 450 MB) to MYSQL database into certain structure and definitions of included XML elements. The problem is that the original script uses file_get_contents and SimpleXMLElement to get it done, but the corn job executed by the server halts due to the volume of the XML file. I'm no PHP expert, so I bought this XMLSplit software and divided the XML into 17 separated XML files each at size of 30 MB, parsed them one by one using the same script. However, the output database was missing a lot of input, and I have serious doubts whether this would be the same output of the original file if left not divided automatically and parsed one by one.
So, I've decided to use XMLReader with this exact PHP script to parse this big XML file, but so far I couldn't manage to simply replace the parsing code and keep other functionality intact.
I'm including the script below, I'd really appreciate if someone helps me to do so.
<?php set_time_limit(0); ini_set('memory_limit', '1024M'); include_once('../db.php'); include_once(DOC_ROOT.'/include/func.php'); mysql_query("TRUNCATE screenshots_list"); mysql_query("TRUNCATE pages"); mysql_query("TRUNCATE page_screenshots"); // This is the part I need help with to change into XMLReader instead of utilized function, to enable parsing of the large XML file correctly (while keeping rest of the script code as is if possible): $xmlstr = file_get_contents('t_info.xml'); $xml = new SimpleXMLElement($xmlstr); foreach ($xml->template as $item) { //print_r($item); $sql = sprintf("REPLACE INTO templates SET id = %d, state = %d, price = %d, exc_price = %d, inserted_date = '%s', update_date = '%s', downloads = %d, type_id = %d, type_name = '%s', is_flash = %d, is_adult = %d, width = '%s', author_id = %d, author_nick = '%s', package_id = %d, is_full_site = %d, is_real_size = %d, keywords = '%s', sources = '%s', description = '%s', software_required = '%s'", $item->id, $item->state, $item->price, $item->exc_price, $item->inserted_date, $item->update_date, $item->downloads, $item->template_type->type_id, $item->template_type->type_name, $item->is_flash, $item->is_adult, $item->width, $item->author->author_id, $item->author->author_nick, $item->package->package_id, $item->is_full_site, $item->is_real_size, $item->keywords, $item->sources, $item->description, $item->software_required); //echo '<br>'.$sql; mysql_query($sql); //print_r($item->screenshots_list->screenshot); foreach ($item->screenshots_list->screenshot as $scr) { $main = (!empty($scr->main_preview)) ? 1 : 0; $small = (!empty($scr->small_preview)) ? 1 : 0; insert_data($item->id, 'screenshots_list', 0, $scr->uri, $scr->filemtime, $main, $small); } foreach ($item->styles->style as $st) { insert_data($item->id, 'styles', $st->style_id, $st->style_name); } foreach ($item->categories->category as $cat) { insert_data($item->id, 'categories', $cat->category_id, $cat->category_name); } foreach ($item->sources_available_list->source as $so) { insert_data($item->id, 'sources_available_list', $so->source_id, ''); } foreach ($item->software_required_list->software as $soft) { insert_data($item->id, 'software_required_list', $soft->software_id, ''); } //print_r($item->pages->page); if (!empty($item->pages->page)) { foreach ($item->pages->page as $p) { mysql_query(sprintf("REPLACE INTO pages SET tpl_id = %d, name = '%s', id = NULL ", $item->id, $p->name)); $page_id = mysql_insert_id(); if (!empty($p->screenshots->scr)) { foreach ($p->screenshots->scr as $psc) { $href = (!empty($psc->href)) ? So i have this CMS that is used by lots of users and generally they do have rights to edit each others article. So now i'm thinking how can i at least warn them that somebody else is already editing it. Just that. maybe with sessions? but what happens when a user just closes the windows, will it destroy it. i taught about storing the value to mySQL but again what if the user closes the windows and so on. i never did this and i could use a boost. thanks guys Hey there, Thanks for taking the time to read my thread. My issue is that I can't think of a way to edit a XML file using PHP's XML functionality and then assign the edited contents to a string instead of saving the file. Because my issue is that I have to edit the XML file based upon a string brought from a remote location then give it back to that remote location using a string again, to be exact I am doing it via Linux command line utilizing SSH2. This is what I managed to complete on my own. function CheckIVMPConfig($ServerID) { global $Panel; if(is_numeric($ServerID) && $this->IsValidServer($ServerID)) { // We select the game server that the FTP account was created for. $Servers = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM control_servers WHERE server_id = '".mysql_real_escape_string($FTPAccount['ftp_server'])."'"); $Server = mysql_fetch_array($Servers); // Here we select the Box ID that the game server is on. $Boxs = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM control_machines WHERE machine_id = '".$Server['server_machine']."'"); $Box = mysql_fetch_array($Boxs); // Now we select the required package for the box. $Packages = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM control_packages WHERE package_id = '".$Server['server_package']."'"); $Package = mysql_fetch_array($Packages); // Retrive the file. $Config = $CProtocol->exec("cat /home/{$Server['server_id']}/{$Package['package_config']}"); $Parse = SimpleXMLElement($Config); foreach($Parse as $Entry) // loop through our books { if($Entry->port != $Server['server_port']) { // edit the value } else if($Entry->maxplayers > $Server['server_slots']) { // edit the value } } } } say I have a file, it has information in it in this format 123489 ABDFDS 232356 DSFKWE and so on, new number and letters on each line separated by a space, what do I have to do so that like 123489 and 232356 would be in the aray numbers[] and the ABDFDS and DSFKWE would be phrases[] any ideas? Did i do anything wrong? Ok I need to write an array to a file here is the code if($place[2] < 10){ echo "Account Invalid"; $account = var_dump($account_data[$i][0]); echo $account; $fp3=fopen('invalid.txt', 'a+'); fwrite($fp3, $account); fclose($fp3);} when I try if($place[2] < 10){ echo "Account Invalid"; $account = var_dump($account_data[$i][0]); echo $account; $fp3=fopen('invalid.txt', 'a+'); fwrite($fp3, $account_data[$i][0]); fclose($fp3);} I just get "Array[1]" written to the file.. What can I do to write the array to the file? Thanks Hello,
I have been assigned a PHP problem for my programming class. I'm a beginner so I am finding it really hard to figure out what to do. I got this far thanks to the internet. The problem is to take a list of students, place it in a multidimensional array, sort it, then divide it in half and place each half in two new files. I can't seem to figure out the last step. This is my code so far:
<?php
$students=array_map('str_getcsv', file('student.txt'));
foreach ($student as $key => $row) $lastname [$key] = strtolower ($row[2]);
array_multisort($lastname, SORT_ASC, $students);
$groupone= array_slice($students,0,10);
$grouptwo=array_slice($students,10);
echo "<pre>" , print_r($groupone), "</pre>";
echo "<pre>" , print_r($grouptwo), "</pre>";
$firstgroup=fopen(firstgroup.txt, "w");
echo fwrite ($firstgroup,$groupone);
fclose($firstgroup);
At this point I get an error because I should use a string not an array to write the new file.
I don't actually know how to create a new file and export the information onto it, this is me guessing.
I would really really appreaciaite it if someone could help me out or point me in the right direction.
Thank you so much,
Camilla
I got two values from a form in a page by POST method. Now I want to add this values to a text file. The code of form1.htm is like this: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1"> <title>Insert title here</title> </head> <body> <form action="write1.php" method="post"> <fieldset> <legend>Log In...</legend> <input type="text" name="uname" /><br> <input type="text" name="pass" /><br><br> <input type="submit" name="button" value="Log In" /> </fieldset> </form> </body> </html> And the code of write1.php is like this: <?php function arr_func() { $name = $_POST['uname']; $pass = $_POST['pass']; //trying to catch values in an array $arr[] = array("name"=>"$name", "pass"=>"$pass"); foreach ($arr as $val_arr) { foreach ($val_arr as $key=>$val) { echo "$key - $val<br>"; } echo '<br>'; } } $arr1 = arr_func(); //values are printed, no problem echo $arr1; //trying to change the array into string, is it wrong approach? $var1 = strval($arr1); // set file to write $file = 'student/dump.txt'; // open file $fh = fopen($file, 'w') or die('Could not open file!'); // write that variable into file fwrite($fh, "$var1\n") or die('Could not write to file'); // close file fclose($fh); ?> After log in in form1 I get two values of $name and $pass in write1.php but no values being added to the file mentioned in the path. Thanks Hi all, I'm at a dead-end here. I have a php file that I can query to return an array containing a bunch of data about a job listing. I include and query it by calling it like so within another file on my site. Quick Notes: The original file is in a different directory on my site than the page it's being included in. I have tried returning the array at the end of the script. I can print_r the array on the page I'm including the script on (so the URL path is correct). If I go to this URL directly and print_r on the array, I see the entire array as expected. Also, if I include the file on page 2 like I did above with print_r on the array in the original file, I see the array printed out on page 2. Code: [Select] include 'http://www.example.com/php/job-details.php?job=jobname&city=thecity'; However, if I do not print_r on the array in the original file and just include it on page 2, I cannot do anything with it and the array variable isn't found. Is this a case of variable scope? I'm so frustrated... Here is the code I have in my original file: Code: [Select] <? include('functions.php'); $jobtitlematch = $_GET["job"]; $jobcitymatch = $_GET["city"]; //echo $jobtitlematch; //echo $jobcitymatch; $url = 'http://somesite.com/something'; $xml = simplexml_load_file($url); foreach($xml->job as $job) { $jobtitle = makeURL((string)$job->title); $jobcity = makeURL((string)$job->region); if ($jobtitle == $jobtitlematch && $jobcity == $jobcitymatch) { $jobdata[] = array( Title => ((string)$job->title), URL_Title => makeURL((string)$job->title), Location => ((string)$job->region), URL_Location => makeURL((string)$job->region), Department => ((string)$job->department), URL_Department => makeURL((string)$job->department), Overview => ((string)$job->joboverview), Responsibilities => ((string)$job->responsibilities), Qualifications => ((string)$job->qualifications), Keywords => ((string)$job->metakeywords) ); } return $jobdata; //I have also tried return global $jobdata; } print_r($jobdata); ?> Thanks in advance for any help you can provide... I am trying to turn a .txt file into an array, count the items in the array, and display a random quote from it.
<p class = "center"> <?php $Proverb = file('../proverbs.txt'); $ProverbCount = count($Proverb); echo rand(0, $ProverbCount-1); ?> <br> © 2014 </p>The issue I am having is that it states the file does not exist: FULL PATH: G:\EasyPHP-5.3.2i\www\PHP_Projects\ChineseZodiacs\Includes\inc_footer.php TEXT FILE: G:\EasyPHP-5.3.2i\www\PHP_Projects\ChineseZodiacs\proverbs.txt Please help, thank you. Here is how I get categories for article listing. Article can be written in several categories at once. So I have this code: Code: [Select] $category = '1,5,23,46'; //Category IDs $get_cats = explode("," , $category); $cats = ""; for ($i = 0; $i<count($get_cats); $i++ ) { $cat = trim($get_cats[$i]); $catSlug = get_value_of($cat, "inc/cat_ids.php"); $catName = str_replace("-"," ",$catSlug); $cats .= "<a href=\"index.php?category=$catSlug\">".strtoupper($catName)."</a>, "; } $cats = substr($cats,0,-2); As you can see there's get_value_of function that is used to read the category from the file. File is cat_ids.php and looks like this: Quote 1='category-name-1'; 2='category-name-2'; 3='category name-3'; 4='category-name-4'; 5='category-name-5'; etc. I want to improve this in order not to read the file at each step ("for" loop). Means, one can load the file and then generate a list of (links) category compared to the numbers (Ids). So if $category is "1,3,4" I want to get list like this (by reading cat_ids.php): category-name-1, category name-3, category-name-4 With current function I read value for every ID from file in every step. So if article have 10 or more categories script load file 10 or more times. Looking for a solution to do this from a reading file only once. Thanks. Hello, Im trying to figure out how to create multidimensional array from xml file that looks like this: <root> <item> <name>name A</name> <category>category 1</name> <desc>desc A</desc> </item> <item> <name>name B</name> <category>category 1</name> <desc>desc B</desc> </item> <item> <name>name C</name> <category>category 2</name> <desc>desc C</desc> </item> </root> In the end i would like to get output that have items grouped under their categories, something like this: Category 1 name A desc A name B desc B Category 2 name C desc C
I have a clue on how to pull the data out of array but I cant figure out how to actually make it :) Any help or directions would be great, thanks!
