I have the following form (attached to this post as a Thumbnail).
I want to make it user-friendly, specifically, bring it up to the modern web standards, namely, I am looking for things that that I think are modern and are user friendly and are great when considered by themselves, but together they may even conflict. And I need some help figuring out what will work best for my situation and what is technically possible.
Right now the user enteres fields into the form, into the editable fields on the left. Then user can save the fields by clicking Save, or click Del to delete the row. User can Add a new row at the bottom.
The things I think will improve the form a * implement a double-click feature on the editable fields to make them editable, and save them automatically upon `blur` event * user can use `Tab` key to navigate from one `<input>` field to the next, normally, as before, and edit values inside. * user can save all fields entered so far, and restore them via some mechanism (i.e. either to web page or to clipboard, and restore via direct paste for example, or file upload..) * Maybe I can use DataTables, but I have never used it so I don't know what could be done Can you help suggest form or UI improvements for the current form that I have? I have been doing a little research on sitemaps but haven't found much in the way of a tutorial or white paper or similar, anyway I was wondering if I am on the right track or not. What I was thinking for the auto-updating sitemap is since site maps are XML, when an article is published using my custom CMS/Blogging system, I make it rewrite the sitemap appending the new URL that will be generated. Then for the auto-submit, I can either make it a cron job or just manual press, but it would go though a for list of URLs, replacing the end part with my site map url. I think that is how it would be done. If you have a better idea, or can point out an article so I can understand a lot more with sitemaps, I will appreciate it, I am trying to learn as much as possible, I have gone to the offical website (sitemaps.org) but it doesn't have what I am looking for. Any help would be great thanks Freid001 Hello, I am creating a job setup form and have a need for the job id field to increment based on the last inserted job id into our Oracle database. So far I have created a function that selects the maximum job id from the job table and adds 1 to the number. However, I run into the problem of when a user is filling out the form and another user opens it and begins filling out the form they both will receive the same job id in the field. I'm assuming this could possibly be solved with sessions, but I'm not sure where to start. Also, the form is not inserted into the table on submit (instead an excel sheet is created with the information and someone will enter the data into the database manually). Since the form data can be entered anytime from completion to next week/two weeks, how can I ensure that that job id is not used again. Thanks Hi all, I am having some trouble with a part of code. Basically the code is set for a Factory to produce 750 items every 30 minutes. It does this fine IF AND ONLY IF someone clicks the Factory page. For example, it produces 750 bullets, then I leave the page alone for say 20 minutes, but when I click back, it doesn't have 10 minutes left before the next produce. Instead, It has 30 minutes. So it only produces when someone on the game clicks the page. I have tried the basic html refresh but that doesn't work. Any idea's? Hello, I am making a Status Page for servers in general. It has Uptime(In %) and Status(Online/Offline). I have a database it loads this from, (Failed, Success, and Status) Here's an example of how it works. Code: [Select] Failed = 0 Success = 1 Php code calculates the uptime, and prints 100% Status = 1 Status: Online What I am trying to do, it make the site run through Hosts and Ports at the same time, and update the databases with the updated info. Example Code: [Select] It updates, and Google was offline. Failed = 1 Success = 1 Calculates the uptime to 0% Status = 0 Status: Offline Any way of doing this easily, because this will be something I might release to the public, and I want it user friendly. P.S. This is will be using fsocketopen. I think I'm seriously missing some small thing to get this code to just auto refresh after (x) seconds or after video completes fully. This is for users to watch from a database of other users that submitted url's - right now all I could put a skip button to auto-refresh.
