PHP - How Can I Use Php To Check For The Browser Name.

I have created a little voting script for my site. The insertion code into the MySQL databse when they vote is very simple:

$serveron = addslashes($_POST['serveron']);

$db = mysql_connect("localhost", "username", "password");

                VALUES
('$theid','$ipaddress','$gamert','$serveron')
");

Obviously I only want them to be able to vote once. What is the best way to do a check of the IPs already in the database and check against theirs before submitting?

I am unable to execute mysql_num_rows properly in this program.

So i made this script to check if a username and password exist but it kinda fails me.
It gives me a database connection error from my confirm_query() which means it returned false?
so here's my code:

I have a another script to check if the email exist and it works perfectly, i dunno why this won't work properly.. 
maybe another simple mistake..

Weird question, but is there a way using PHP to "check" to see if a certain URL brings up an actual real page, or if it brings up a 404 error or something?  Any functions do anything like that?

I am trying to get a admin panel, which when the user is logged in, it will check if there user access is(say for this post) 9...

If there access is 9 in the database then direct to admin panel if not return them home.

What is the best way to check for a Date in a Form?

I see there is a CheckDate() function, but how does that know what format the Date is in?

Should I use a Regular Expression?

I'm trying to check if a username is unique, but for some reason none of the methods that I've looked up seem to work.

I'm aiming for the code to check if a username is unique, and if get the user to input the name again.

while(mysql_num_row($checkResults) > 0)

  //check again

The error comes from the while line, but it comes up during the first check because the record is empty.
This is the error:
"Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysql_num_row()"

Hi, im new to php and got a simple query.

i have built a web gallery and i want to add keywords to pictures, ive built the interface and mysql statements so it lists all possible keywords and creates a tick box for the user to use.

ive created a table to join the image id's to my keyword id's as its going to be a many to many relationship, ive also built the sql statement below to select the highlighted image, but im not sure how i can join the looping of all keywords to generate the tick boxes and then to loop again to populate the tickboxes that are saved within the DB - if that makes sense??

I have no knowledge about coding.
But I have very little knowledge in creating or editing simple web pages.
How do you create a web page that checks user account name and password of a website in batch mode to see if they are valid.
For example:
I can put account details in an empty form in a "username:password" format and submit to check if they are valid.
The "username:password" will be checked one by one in a fashion of "http://username:password@www.(name of site).com".
It basically connects to the site's URL with a "username:password@" attached to it and see if it redirects to either "Members Area" or "Access Denied".
Example:
I put TestUser:TestPass in the form and submit.
Now it will connect to "http://TestUser:TestPass@www.(name of site).com"

When the checking is done a result page will come showing the valid ones.

How can all this be done?
