PHP - Image Cropping
I would like an image crop script.
Basically, if I had an image 100px * 150px, it's not square. So what I would like is for both sides to end up at 100px. The extra 50px spare would be removed. Along with that, it would be cropped center. To get the width and height, we would use something like this: list($width, $height) = getimagesize($this->imageNewName); $this->imageNewName would hold a value like "PATH/TO/IMAGE/image.jpg" I would assume that is okay? I know we would also use imagecreatetruecolor() and imagecopyresampled() Although, to get it so it ends up cropping how I want is hard. In fact, I have no clue. I believe to get the $croppedSize for imagecreatetruecolor()... we would use something like this: list($width, $height) = getimagesize($this->imageNewName); if ($width > $height) { $croppedSize = $height; // We use $height as it is the smallest axis } else if ($height > $width) { $croppedSize = $width; // We use $width as it is the smallest axis } else { return($this->imageNewName); // It is already square, so no need to crop } $croppedImage = imagecreatetruecolor($croppedSize, $croppedSize); I haven't tested this, because it isn't complete. To make it center we need some X and Y variables. As to what they contain, is beyond me. Any help please? Similar Tutorialshi guys, im new here! first post i need to crop images from a database or directory. ive downloaded scripts and use them on their own. when i try to call the function like this <img src="crop.php?x=10&y=20&w=30&h=40&src=templates/new/images/site_header.jpg"> nothing works! what am i doing wrong? Hello there, Ill get straight to the point I want to copy part of an image with a set height and width with as little aspect ratio losing as possible. I tried just copying the size i wanted onto the destination image but when a large image was being used i lost quite alot of the picture. So then I just copied it all across but that compacted the image and I didnt want to do that (well not to that degree although some were funny because they were people.) So what have i got so far; Below is the important function which is doing the job. function copy_crop_image($width, $height, $new_width, $new_height, $dest, $source, $dx=55, $dy=19){ $top_x=0;// The x location on the source image $top_y=0;// Same as above but for the y // $dx and $dy are the destination x y of where to paste the image imagecopyresampled($dest, $source, $dx, $dy, $top_x, $top_y, $new_width, $new_height, $width, $height)===false; } Please can you help me out with guidance on how to resize the image then crop it in one go if possible to save resources. I know it can be done but I just can't think. Thank-you all Paul Hutchinson I tried to google it but i'm not quite sure how to formulate the proper phrase to express what i'm looking to do. What i'm trying to accomplish is cropping an image without chopping away any bits of the content within that image. For example, imagine you have a square image the size 1000px by 1000px canvas and within that canvas is a photo of an object that's roughly 400px BY 750px. I would like to crop the 1000x1000 canvas to be within 5 pixels of the longest side of the content image, so in this case i'd like to crop it to a 755x755 squared pixel image. So i guess the main question is how can i check for the content on a canvas which btw may not always be white, but might be other colors and of other things in the background. I understand some things may make it impossible, but let's just for now assume the canvas is always white. Thanks! How can i edit just one image at on time with a multiple image upload form? I have the images being stored in a folder and the path being stored in MySQL. I also have the files being uploaded with a unique id. My issue is that I want to be able to pass the values of what is already in $name2 $name3 $name4 if I only want to edit $name1. I don't want to have to manually update the 4 images. Here is the PHP: Code: [Select] <?php require_once('storescripts/connect.php'); mysql_select_db($database_phpimage,$phpimage); $uploadDir = 'upload/'; if(isset($_POST['upload'])) { foreach ($_FILES as $file) { $fileName = $file['name']; $tmpName = $file['tmp_name']; $fileSize = $file['size']; $fileType = $file['type']; if ($fileName != ""){ $filePath = $uploadDir; $fileName = str_replace(" ", "_", $fileName); //Split the name into the base name and extension $pathInfo = pathinfo($fileName); $fileName_base = $pathInfo['fileName']; $fileName_ext = $pathInfo['extension']; //now we re-assemble the file name, sticking the output of uniqid into it //and keep doing this in a loop until we generate a name that //does not already exist (most likely we will get that first try) do { $fileName = $fileName_base . uniqid() . '.' . $fileName_ext; } while (file_exists($filePath.$fileName)); $file_names [] = $fileName; $result = move_uploaded_file($tmpName, $filePath.$fileName); } if(!get_magic_quotes_gpc()) { $fileName = addslashes($fileName); $filePath = addslashes($filePath); } $fileinsert[] = $filePath; } } $mid = mysql_real_escape_string(trim($_POST['mid'])); $cat = mysql_real_escape_string(trim($_POST['cat'])); $item = mysql_real_escape_string(trim($_POST['item'])); $price = mysql_real_escape_string(trim($_POST['price'])); $about = mysql_real_escape_string(trim($_POST['about'])); $fields = array(); $values = array(); $updateVals = array(); for($i = 0; $i < 4; $i++) { $values[$i] = isset($file_names[$i]) ? mysql_real_escape_string($file_names[$i]) : ''; if($values[$i] != '') { $updateVals[] = 'name' . ($i + 1) . " = '{$values[$i]}'"; } } $updateNames = ''; if(count($updateVals)) { $updateNames = ", " . implode(', ', $updateVals); } $update = "INSERT INTO image (mid, cid, item, price, about, name1, name2, name3, name4) VALUES ('$mid', '$cat', '$item', '$price', '$about', '$values[0]', '$values[1]', '$values[2]', '$values[3]') ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE cid = '$cat', item = '$item', price = '$price', about = '$about' $updateNames"; $result = mysql_query($update) or die (mysql_error()); After image is drop into container , I want to move copy of the original image to be move when original image dragend within container. I tried but it display copy image each time when original image dragend. can anyone help me?

The script for creating a new file name for the image:
$validextensions = array("jpeg", "jpg", "png"); //Extensions which are allowed $ext = explode('.', basename($_FILES['file']['name'][$i]));//explode file name from dot(.) $file_extension = end($ext); //store extensions in the variable $new_image_name = md5(uniqid()) . "." . $ext[count($ext) - 1]; $target_path = $target_path . $new_image_name;//set the target path with a new name of imageThe script creates a new file like: f6c9b8d9db05366c3504210cded9ddb2.jpgand moves the file to the "uploads" folder. And then the script also creates a thumbnail with the same file name and moves the file to the "thumbs" folder. The issue I am having is that the same ID code could happen again for a different image in the database, thus I would be calling a different original sized image than the thumbnail image. My question is: How to avoid this issue of the same ID code has happened again for a different file. What is the proper way to reference the anchor tag of the thumbnail image to its actual original sized image? With the script I have the thumbnail image would be coming from the "thumbs" folder and the anchor tag would get referenced to the "uploads" folder to get the original sized image. Edited by glassfish, 12 October 2014 - 05:51 AM. Hi, I've read a lot of places that it's not recommended to store binary files in my db. So instead I'm supposed to upload the image to a directory, and store the link to that directory in database. First, how would I make a form that uploads the picture to the directory (And what kinda directories are we talking?). Secondly, how would I retrieve that link? And I guess I should rename the picture.. I'd appreciate any help, or a good tutorial (Haven't found any myself). This topic has been moved to mod_rewrite. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=351137.0 Hello, I've had success creating a cool vanity QR code with rounded edges for my organization by generating a standard QR code, then applying a noise -> median effect in Photoshop to get the edges rounded among some other effects. Photoshop is great, but I want to automate this. I found a great PHP library to generate QR codes. The part I don't get is the rounding of the hard edges. I've seen other sites do it like this one. So far google searches are yielding rounded corner tutorials. Any thoughts on how to do this with GD or ImageMagic? Best regards, Chris Would like to be able to click on a radio button that represents an image. Once selected and submitted, have that image display on another page. I have an idea, but need some guidance. BTW, is using php only doable? Is there a simpler or more elegant way to do this? Thanks all! Hello, Five images will be displayed inside a division. There will be a previous and next button/link. If someone click the next button the next image will be added in that div and the first image will be gone from that div. The previous button/link will do the same thing. Is it possible with php? I am confused if it's a javascript or ajax question. Thanks. Hello I am having problems uploading an image through a HTML form. I want the image to be uploaded to the server and the image name to be written to the mysql database. Below is the code I am using: Code: [Select] <?php if (isset($_POST['add'])){ echo "<br /> add value is true"; $name = $_POST['name']; $description = $_POST['description']; $price = $_POST['price']; $category_id = $_POST['category_name']; $image = $_FILES['image']['name']; //file path of the image upload $filepath = "../images/"; //mew name for the image upload $newimagename = $name; //new width for the image $newwidth = 100; //new height for the image $newheight = 100; include('../includes/image-upload.php'); mysql_query("INSERT INTO item (item_name, item_description, item_price, item_image) VALUES ('$name','$description','$price','$image')"); ?> Here is the image-upload.php file code: Code: [Select] <?php //assigns the file to the image $image =$_FILES["image"]["name"]; $uploadedfile =$_FILES["image"]["tmp_name"]; if ($image) { //retrieves the extension type from image upload $extension = getextension($image); //converts extension to lowercase $extension = strtolower($extension); //create image from uploaded file type if($extension=="jpg" || $extension=="jpeg") { $uploadedfile = $_FILES['image']['tmp_name']; $src = imagecreatefromjpeg($uploadedfile); }else if($extension=="png") { $uploadedfile = $_FILES['image']['tmp_name']; $src = imagecreatefrompng($uploadedfile); }else{ $src = imagecreatefromgif($uploadedfile); } //creates a list of the width and height of the image list($width,$height)=getimagesize($uploadedfile); //adds color to the image $tmp = imagecreatetruecolor($newwidth,$newheight); //create image imagecopyresampled($tmp,$src,0,0,0,0,$newwidth,$newheight,$width,$height); //set file name $filename = $filepath.$newimagename.".".$extension; $imagename = $newimagename.".".$extension; //uploads new file with name to the chosen directory imagejpeg($tmp,$filename,100); //empty variables imagedestroy($src); imagedestroy($tmp); } ?> Any help would be appreciated, fairly new to all this! Thanks!!! Can I get some help or a point in the right direction.
I am trying to create a form that allows me to add, edit and delete records from a database.
I can add, edit and delete if I dont include the image upload code.
If I include the upload code I cant edit records without having to upload the the same image to make the record save to the database.
So I can tell I have got the code processing in the wrong way, thing is I cant seem to see or grasp the flow of this, to make the corrections I need it work.
Any help would be great!

I have a working image upload script that uploads, renames the file and adds filename to the database. is it possible to include some sort of image resize code? if so can anyone point me in the right direction or better still show some example code and explain how it works etc. below is my working code: Code: [Select] <?php $rand = mt_rand(1,9999999); $member_id = $_SESSION['SESS_MEMBER_ID']; $caption = $_POST["caption"]; if(isset($_FILES['uploaded']['name'])) { $allowed_filetypes = array('.jpg','.gif','.bmp','.png','.jpeg'); $max_filesize = 524288; // Maximum filesize in BYTES (currently 0.5MB) $fileName = basename($_FILES['uploaded']['name']); $errors = array(); $target = "gallery/"; $fileBaseName = substr($fileName, 0, strripos($fileName, '.')); // Get the extension from the filename. $ext = substr($fileName, strpos($fileName,'.'), strlen($fileName)-1); //$newFileName = md5($fileBaseName) . $ext; $newFileName = $target . $rand . "_" . $member_id.$ext; // Check if filename already exists if(file_exists("gallery/" . $newFileName)) { $errors[] = "The file you attempted to upload already exists, please try again."; } // Check if the filetype is allowed. if(!in_array($ext,$allowed_filetypes)) { $errors[] = "The file you attempted to upload is not allowed."; } // Now check the filesize. if(!filesize($_FILES['uploaded']['tmp_name']) > $max_filesize) { $errors[] = "The file you attempted to upload is too large."; } // Check if we can upload to the specified path. if(!is_writable($target)) { $errors[] = "You cannot upload to the specified directory, please CHMOD it to 777."; } //Here we check that no validation errors have occured. if(count($errors)==0) { //Try to upload it. if(!move_uploaded_file($_FILES['uploaded']['tmp_name'], $newFileName)) { $errors[] = "Sorry, there was a problem uploading your file."; } } //Lets INSERT database information here if(count($errors)==0) { $result = mysql_query("INSERT INTO `gallery` (`image`, `memberid`, `caption`) VALUES ('$newFileName', '$member_id', '$caption')") or die (mysql_error()); } //If no errors show confirmation message if(count($errors)==0) { echo "<div class='notification success png_bg'> <a href='#' class='close'><img src='img/cross_grey_small.png' title='Close this notification' alt='close' /></a> <div> Image has been uploaded.<br>\n </div> </div>"; //echo "The file {$fileName} has been uploaded"; echo "<br>\n"; echo "<a href='gallery.php'>Go Back</a>\n"; } else { //show error message echo "<div class='notification attention png_bg'> <a href='#' class='close'><img src='img/cross_grey_small.png' title='Close this notification' alt='close' /></a> <div> Sorry your file was not uploaded due to the following errors:<br>\n </div> </div>"; //echo "Sorry your file was not uploaded due to the following errors:<br>\n"; echo "<ul>\n"; foreach($errors as $error) { echo "<li>{$error}</li>\n"; } echo "</ul>\n"; echo "<br>\n"; echo "<a href='gallery.php'>Go Back</a>\n"; } } else { //Show the form echo "Use the following form below to add a new image to your gallery;<br /><br />\n"; echo "<form enctype='multipart/form-data' action='' method='POST'>\n"; echo "Please choose a file:<br /><input class='text' name='uploaded' type='file' /><br />\n"; echo "Image Caption:<br /><input class='text' name='caption' type='text' value='' /><br /><br />\n"; echo "<input class='Button' type='submit' value='Upload' />\n"; echo "</form>\n"; } ?> Many thanks to phpfreaks again. Hi, I have some images that I want to resize to a square dimention (40px 40px). However, not all image are square, so when they are resized, they lose their ration and look squashed. Is there a way I can display just a part of the original image, say 40px x 40px on the top middle of each image? I hope that makes sense hello friends, while clicking the form all the information goes to database, I have one image upload field, when cliking the submit button, i would like 'image name' to go in database and file to go in /upload folder, i have tried this for hours and gave up, if anyone help me in this, i would be very greatful I want to reduce a picture size from 600px * 500px to 60px * 50px size, then crop it become 50px *50px. I have two groups of codes, 1 is to reduce the size of image, other 1 is to crop the image. The problem is they works separately, how to combine this two groups of codes to make them work together? Below is my codes : Code: [Select] <?php //codes of group A - Reduce the size of image from 600px * 500px to 60px * 50px $save2 = "images/users/" . $image_name_2; //This is the new file you saving list($width2, $height2) = getimagesize($file) ; $modwidth2 = 50; $diff2 = $width2 / $modwidth2; $modheight2 = $height2 / $diff2; $tn2 = imagecreatetruecolor($modwidth2, $modheight2) ; $image2 = imagecreatefromjpeg($file) ; imagecopyresampled($tn2, $image2, 0, 0, 0, 0, $modwidth2, $modheight2, $width2, $height2) ; imagejpeg($tn2, $save2, 100) ; //codes of group B - Crop the image from 60px * 50px to 50px * 50px $save3 = "images/users/" . $image_name_3; list($width3, $height3) = getimagesize($file) ; $modwidth3 = 60; $diff3 = $width3 / $modwidth3; $modheight3 = $height3 / $diff3; $left = 0; $top = 0; $cropwidth = 50; //thumb size $cropheight = 50; $tn3 = imagecreatetruecolor($cropwidth, $cropheight) ; $image3 = imagecreatefromjpeg($file) ; imagecopyresampled($tn3, $image3, 0, 0, $left, $top, $cropwidth, $cropheight, $modwidth3, $modheight3) ; imagejpeg($tn3, $save3, 100) ; //save the cropped image ?> As you can see from 2 groups of codes above, 1st group resize the pic then save it to a folder. 2nd group of codes crop the pic then save it into the folder too. My question is ... After 1st group of codes resize the picture, is it necessary to save it into folder before I can crop it? If it is necessary, then I need to write new lines of codes to retrieve the resized pic from the folder for 2nd group of codes to crop it? If it is not necessary, after resizing the pic, how do I pass the pic to 2nd group of codes to crop it? php image-resizing Basically I want to open up a png file with a transparent background which is 48x48 pixels And set the opacity of this to about 50% of the original. I have the following to do what I want but just returns an empty image On imagecolorallocatealpha i have tried setting the alpha value at different values between 0 and 127 with no success as 127 returns a black block imagecopy($menu,$image, #Positioning 0,0, 0,0, #Image size 48,48 ); #Create transparent block $new_img = imagecreatetruecolor(48, 48); imagealphablending($new_img, true); $transparent = imagecolorallocatealpha($new_img, 255, 255, 255, 0); imagefilledrectangle($new_img, 0, 0, 48, 48, $transparent); #Put block over original image imagecopy($menu,$new_img, #Positioning 0,0, 0,0, #Image size 48,48 ); The image below shows on top the original and on bottom what I am roughly trying to create Where am i going wrong? This resizer works fine except I would like it to save the original image AND the thumbnail. Right now its only saving the cropped thumbnail. It's seems simple enough but I've tried several different ways but can't get it to work. :( I would appreciate your help. :) define( 'DESIRED_IMAGE_WIDTH', 150 ); define( 'DESIRED_IMAGE_HEIGHT', 150 ); $source_path = $_FILES[ 'thumb' ][ 'tmp_name' ]; $timestamp = time(); $target = "image_files/".$imagename; move_uploaded_file($source, $target); // // Add file validation code here // list( $source_width, $source_height, $source_type ) = getimagesize( $source_path ); switch ( $source_type ) { case IMAGETYPE_GIF: $source_gdim = imagecreatefromgif( $source_path ); break; case IMAGETYPE_JPEG: $source_gdim = imagecreatefromjpeg( $source_path ); break; case IMAGETYPE_PNG: $source_gdim = imagecreatefrompng( $source_path ); break; } $source_aspect_ratio = $source_width / $source_height; $desired_aspect_ratio = DESIRED_IMAGE_WIDTH / DESIRED_IMAGE_HEIGHT; if ( $source_aspect_ratio > $desired_aspect_ratio ) { // // Triggered when source image is wider // $temp_height = DESIRED_IMAGE_HEIGHT; $temp_width = ( int ) ( DESIRED_IMAGE_HEIGHT * $source_aspect_ratio ); } else { // // Triggered otherwise (i.e. source image is similar or taller) // $temp_width = DESIRED_IMAGE_WIDTH; $temp_height = ( int ) ( DESIRED_IMAGE_WIDTH / $source_aspect_ratio ); } // // Resize the image into a temporary GD image // $temp_gdim = imagecreatetruecolor( $temp_width, $temp_height ); imagecopyresampled( $temp_gdim, $source_gdim, 0, 0, 0, 0, $temp_width, $temp_height, $source_width, $source_height ); // // Copy cropped region from temporary image into the desired GD image // $x0 = ( $temp_width - DESIRED_IMAGE_WIDTH ) / 2; $y0 = ( $temp_height - DESIRED_IMAGE_HEIGHT ) / 2; $desired_gdim = imagecreatetruecolor( DESIRED_IMAGE_WIDTH, DESIRED_IMAGE_HEIGHT ); imagecopy( $desired_gdim, $temp_gdim, 0, 0, $x0, $y0, DESIRED_IMAGE_WIDTH, DESIRED_IMAGE_HEIGHT ); // // Render the image // Alternatively, you can save the image in file-system or database // header( 'Content-type: image/jpeg' ); imagejpeg( $desired_gdim, "image_files/" . $timestamp . $_FILES["thumb"]["name"] ); Hey guys, I am making a quotes siggy, code: <?php /** * @author Jragon * @copyright 2010 */ $textfile = "quotes.txt"; $quotes = array(); if (file_exists($textfile)) { $quotes = explode("\n", file_get_contents($textfile)); srand((float)microtime() * 10000000); $string = $quotes[array_rand($quotes)]; $string = wordwrap($string, 100, "\n", true); text_to_image($string, 800); } else { $string = "Sig file non-existant..."; } function text_to_image($text, $image_width, $colour = array(0, 244, 34), $background = array(0, 0, 0)) { $font = 5; $line_height = 15; $padding = 2; $text = wordwrap($text, ($image_width/10)); $lines = explode("\n", $text); $image = imagecreate($image_width, ((count($lines) * $line_height)) + ($padding * 2)); $background = imagecolorallocate($image, $background[48], $background[44], $background[44]); $colour = imagecolorallocate($image, $colour[0], $colour[1], $colour[2]); imagefill($image, 0, 0, $background); $i = $padding; foreach ($lines as $line) { imagestring($image, $font, $padding, $i, trim($line), $colour); $i += $line_height; } header("Content-type: image/jpeg"); imagejpeg($image); imagedestroy($image); exit; } ?> What i want it to do is have the lines the same legnth, and when a quote is smaller the image to shrink. Thanks jragon |
