PHP - Implementing Paypal Payment Into Php Advert Listings
Hey Everyone,
I'm currently implementing a very simple advert posting site (like a classifieds but its more like a forum atm). I've got advert posting working okay and the next step I'm thinking about is interacting with paypal to handle payments. My know of the Paypal IPN is VERY limited so I'm looking for some pointers really. - Once an item has been paid for how would I go out about removing the post from my website (Payment = true, advert = delete kinda thing..) The way I was thinking was something to do with the advert ID perhaps? I'm really not sure though so ideas would be very helpful! - How exactly would I go about implementing the PayPal IPN, very broad question I know but I'm not overly sure.. Sorry for sounding like a bit of a noob (I guess I am really!) The website is located here (http://is.gd/04qcz5) and the database setup is like so (Just in case that's helpful at all?) Database stores Advert ID, Category ID and User ID in a table along with the advert details. Any help is greatly appreciated, I look forward to hearing from you all! Cheers Similar TutorialsHi, I've integrated paypal payment pro over my website. I don't know how can i test it. can any one help me out? my site address is : http://pacific-labs.com/paymybill.php Please help I know paypal has some sort of php api, but I know nothing about it and where to find it. I want to create an app that will instantly pay users from my account after a certain action is deployed on my site. I know this is possible, a few years ago I was going to hire a programmer to do it, but he wanted to much... But how would I go about doing this? Idk where to begin. It seems like it would be pretty simple, but since Id be wokring with third party code, or even paypal in general I can see it being a little more difficult. Im sure itd be working with cURL? from the customer so that I can record the transaction into my database seeing as the pay button is on paypal and not on my any of my site. Hello,
I am trying to figure out why paypal recurring payment always shows as Pending when I use my following code?
this is a very basic HTML form which i use for recurring payment in paypal. but when the users sign up using the following code, the payment status shows as "PENDING"!
could someone please help me to solve this issue?
Thanks in advance.
here is my html form:

This forum has been great so far. I got couple of questions answered here. Now I am working on a PHP web form where Suppliers list their products for customers to buy. A customer can buy Product 1 from Supplier A and Product 2 from Supplier B and when the customer checks out through Paypal, the payment for Product 1 should go to Suppplier A and similarly the payment for Product 2 should go the Supplier B's email ID. I thinks its straight forward and How can we do that? Can you please guide me in the right direction. Thank you! I have a payment button for PayPal which securely stores the amount, but when the payment is made how do i know if it was paid or not so i can get the page to store this in the mysql database? Hello and looking for some help please.. I have already read this : http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=120619.0 What I am after to do, is to after a successful Paypal payment from paypal, generate a link in a wordpress site (or external even) that will expire after 3 days to a video. I hope that makes sense please? Thanks in advance, Jim I was wondering if there was any way in which I could create a link which would direct to a paypal payment page and the amount to be paid could be specifed in the URL (GET method) as I have multiple products at differnt prices and would like to redirect the user to a page with a price I specify to be paid. Anyone have ideas? Hope someone can respond soon - thanks in advance for any help! Jake This topic has been moved to MySQL Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=327211.0 I'm using the latest version of XAMPP on Windows and can't figure out why I'm not seeing the correct directory listing when using the scandir() function. The first time i opened the web page I got the correct listing of what was in the directory. After moving and adding files, I opened the web page again and got the same listing I had before i moved and added files. Is this the correct spot to ask this or should I use the XAMPP support forums? I tried $path= 'C:\\xampp\\htdocs\\website\\img\'; $listing = scandir($path); print_r($listing); I had 5 files in the 'img' directory the first time I opened the website and got the correct listings. I then added 10 new files and moved 2 files out and refreshed the page and got the same listings of the original 5 files. I closed and reopened the browser and tired again and got the original 5 files again.
I've got 2 database tables (states, stores) and I want to output all the states with a list of specific locations under each state. My 'states' table has a 'state_id' and 'state' while my 'stores' table has all the store information along with the 'state_id' to work with the 'states' table. How would I ago about formulating a loop to display all locations organized by each state, etc.? Also, if any one has done something like this before and has a better approach to doing this, I am all ears. I do want to allow the owner to edit and delete the profiles as well. Thanks. Hi there! My name is Andy. I'm relatively new to PHP. Despite this, my project (an events listings website for a live music venue) is coming along at a steady rate. However, I have become somewhat confused by the following: I have a MySQL table named 'events'. The table contains the following obvious fields 'eventID', 'eventDate', 'eventArtists', 'eventDesc', 'eventEntryFee'. It can be edited from a basic content management page. I would like the main page of the website to pull all the information out of the database, displaying the up and coming week's events starting with today's event. Further, I'd like a 'next' option, giving the site user the choice to scan further ahead should they choose. Does anybody have any ideas where I should start? Thanks for reading, Andy hope someone can help me out here, stuck on this page... This page shows the details of the listing they had just clicked on on the previous page. this part works If the person logged in is the person who is looking at the page, the email section does not show. this part works However, the part I cannot get to work, is when the logged in user types their email message and clicks send email. at this point the details of listing stop showing please SOMEONE HELP ME thanks in advance, i hope Code: [Select] <?php // Start the session require_once('startsession.php'); // Insert the page header $page_title = 'Listing Details'; require_once('header.php'); require_once('connectvars.php'); // Show the navigation menu require_once('navmenu.php'); if(isset($_POST['submit'])){ $dbc = mysqli_connect(DB_HOST, DB_USER, DB_PASSWORD, DB_NAME); // Retrieve the user data from MySQL $query1 = 'SELECT email FROM ob_user WHERE username="' . $user_name . Any idea what I'm doing wrong?... So I want to implement the concept of "entitlements" on my website for articles, but am unsure of the most efficient way to code things. @Barand looked at and was okay with my table structure, but my question deal with PHP... Here is a basic ERD of the relevant tables... MEMBER >|-------||- MEMBERSHIP_PLAN -||-------|< MEMBESHIP_PLAN_VERSION -||-------|< ENTTLEMENT >0-------||- ARTICLE
Up until now, the user would click on an Article link, and my "article.php" script would grab the Category, Sub-Category and Article slug from the URL, and go look for the particular instance of the Article in MySQL. But now I want to control who can see what - that is only Members at a certain paid level can see "premium" content.
Here are my tables...
MEMBERSHIP_PLAN - id - name
MEMBERSHIP_PLAN_VERSION - id - plan_id - version_no - start_date - end_date
ENTITLEMENT - id - plan_id - version_id -article_id
ARTICLE - id - slug - title - body
And here is how I am thinking of approaching things, but would appreciate your thoughts...
- Member clicks on a link to the article: "How to use Indexes to Tune MySQL" - article.php loads and grabs the category/Sub-Category/Slug from the URL **new** - call getMembershipPlan( ) which grabs memberID from $_SESSION, queries MySQL , and returns "Membership Plan" - call getMembershipPlanVersion( ) which takes the Member's "Membership Plan", queries MySQL, and returns current/latest version - call getArticleEntitlement( ) which takes "Membership Plan", "Membership Plan Version" and "Article Slug", queries MySQL, and returns TRUE if this member is "entitled" to view the chosen Article **end of new** - Take "Category", "Sub-Category' and "Article Slug", query MySQL, and return Article and related metadata - Populate Article on page, OR display error: "This article is only available to Premium Members..."
What do you think about this approach?
Is it a sin to have 3 PHP functions and make 3 calls to MySQL? (This relates to my last thread asking about how much to store in my SESSION variable.

But right now I've finally got it working! There's only 1 thing I'd really like to add.. Searching through & listing of remote directories! The directories I'm trying to list have directory listings enabled, and I think it *should* be possible. I just have no clue how. Here's my current code in a beautiful mix of HTML and PHP: <? $border_size = "0"; function returner($what) { $what=explode("/",$what); $tps=count($what); $what=$what[$tps-1]; return $what; } $page_url= ""; $home_url=returner(__FILE__); if(isset($_GET['q'])) { $qtext=$_GET['q']; } else { $qtext=""; } function getdirsize($directory, $format=FALSE) { $size = 0; if(substr($directory,-1) == '/') { $directory = substr($directory,0,-1); } if(!file_exists($directory) || !is_dir($directory) || !is_readable($directory)) { return -1; } if($handle = opendir($directory)) { while(($file = readdir($handle)) !== false) { $path = $directory.'/'.$file; if($file != '.' && $file != '..') { if(is_file($path)) { $size += filesize($path); } elseif(is_dir($path)) { $handlesize = getdirsize($path); if($handlesize >= 0) { $size += $handlesize; } else { return -1; } } } } closedir($handle); } if($format == TRUE) { if($size / 1048576 > 1) { return round($size / 1048576, 1).' Thanks in advance. Edit; It might help if you know what the site currently looks like. *Click* I registered a few days ago for help on this thread but didn't post again on it now because it has been marked answered and I thought I'd better not bump it. I received help in a way that has been the most encouraging since I began my calendar project. I'm wondering, though, if you would help me understand why I'm not successful at implementing the advice to the point that events are inserting into my calendar.
My testing database has only one table: events and in events, only two columns (other than id): "startdt" and "description". This is a screenshot of how the table's columns are set upL

I'm just forced into a position to have to fend for myself, as of late, and so I'm trying to learn what I can. Thank you for any help. Edited by Izzy-B, 15 August 2014 - 07:24 PM. Hello. Through MySQL, I created a database using the following code: Code: [Select] create database auth; use auth; create table authorized_users ( name varchar(20), password varchar(40), primary key (name) ); insert into authorized_users values ( 'username', 'password' ); insert into authorized_users values ( 'testuser', sha1('password') ); grant select on auth.* to 'webauth' identified by 'webauth'; flush privileges; Then I used the following code to set up a simple log in page. Code: [Select] <?php $name = $_POST['name']; $password = $_POST['password']; if ((!isset($name)) || (!isset($password))) { //Visitor needs to enter a name and password ?> <h1>Please Log In</h1> <p>This page is secret.</p> <form method="post" action="secretdb.php"> <p>Username: <input type="text" name="name"></p> <p>Password: <input type="password" name="password"></p> <p><input type="submit" name="submit" value="Log In"></p> </form> <?php } else { // connect to mysql $mysql = mysqli_connect("localhost", "webauth", "webauth"); if(!$mysql) { echo "Cannot connect to database."; exit; } // select the appropriate database $selected = mysqli_select_db($mysql, "auth"); if(!$selected) { echo "Cannot select database."; exit; } // query the database to see if there is a record which matches $query = "select count(*) from authorized_users where name = '".$name."' and password = sha1('".$password."')"; $result = mysqli_query($mysql, $query); if(!$result) { echo "Cannot run query."; exit; } $row = mysqli_fetch_row($result); $count = $row[0]; if ($count > 0) { // visitor's name and password combination are correct echo "<h1>Here it is!</h1> <p>I bet you are glad you can see this secret page.</p>"; } else { // visitor's name and password combination are not correct echo "<h1>Go Away!</h1> <p>You are not authorized to use this resource.</p>"; } } ?> When I open up this page, above "Please Log In", I get this error: Notice: Undefined index: name in C:\xampp\htdocs\learning\secretdb.php on line 2 Notice: Undefined index: password in C:\xampp\htdocs\learning\secretdb.php on line 3 Moreover, when I type in an authorized username and password, I get another error: Warning: mysqli_connect() [function.mysqli-connect]: (28000/1045): Access denied for user 'webauth'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in C:\xampp\htdocs\learning\secretdb.php on line 19 Cannot connect to database. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I'm fairly new to PHP and MySQL and I'm pretty stuck. Thanks. |
