http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=314527.0 Similar TutorialsHi, I have a script to add images to my tabel and and upload them to my server, I have managed to get the upload script to rename the image with a 5 digit random number on the end to prevent overwriting, the only problem I can't seem to be able to add the same name to my tabel. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Code: [Select] <?php $idir = "uploads/"; // Path To Images Directory if (isset ($_FILES['fupload'])){ //upload the image to tmp directory $url = $_FILES['fupload']['name']; // Set $url To Equal The Filename For Later Use if ($_FILES['fupload']['type'] == "image/jpg" || $_FILES['fupload']['type'] == "image/jpeg" || $_FILES['fupload']['type'] == "image/pjpeg") { $file_ext = strrchr($_FILES['fupload']['name'], '.'); // Get The File Extention In The Format Of , For Instance, .jpg, .gif or .php $copy = copy($_FILES['fupload']['tmp_name'], $idir. basename($_FILES['fupload']['name'], $file_ext).rand(10000 , 99999).$file_ext); // Move Image From Temporary Location To Perm } } if (isset ($_FILES['fupload2'])){ //upload the image to tmp directory $url = $_FILES['fupload2']['name']; // Set $url To Equal The Filename For Later Use if ($_FILES['fupload2']['type'] == "image/jpg" || $_FILES['fupload2']['type'] == "image/jpeg" || $_FILES['fupload2']['type'] == "image/pjpeg") { $file_ext = strrchr($_FILES['fupload2']['name'], '.'); // Get The File Extention In The Format Of , For Instance, .jpg, .gif or .php $copy = copy($_FILES['fupload2']['tmp_name'], "$idir" . $_FILES['fupload2']['name'] $file_ext).rand(10000 , 99999).$file_ext); // Move Image From Temporary Location To Permanent Location } } if (isset ($_FILES['fupload3'])){ //upload the image to tmp directory $url = $_FILES['fupload3']['name']; // Set $url To Equal The Filename For Later Use if ($_FILES['fupload3']['type'] == "image/jpg" || $_FILES['fupload3']['type'] == "image/jpeg" || $_FILES['fupload3']['type'] == "image/pjpeg") { $file_ext = strrchr($_FILES['fupload3']['name'], '.'); // Get The File Extention In The Format Of , For Instance, .jpg, .gif or .php $copy = copy($_FILES['fupload3']['tmp_name'], "$idir" . $_FILES['fupload3']['name'] $file_ext).rand(10000 , 99999).$file_ext); // Move Image From Temporary Location To Permanent Location } } if (isset ($_FILES['fupload4'])){ //upload the image to tmp directory $url = $_FILES['fupload4']['name']; // Set $url To Equal The Filename For Later Use if ($_FILES['fupload4']['type'] == "image/jpg" || $_FILES['fupload4']['type'] == "image/jpeg" || $_FILES['fupload4']['type'] == "image/pjpeg") { $file_ext = strrchr($_FILES['fupload4']['name'], '.'); // Get The File Extention In The Format Of , For Instance, .jpg, .gif or .php $copy = copy($_FILES['fupload4']['tmp_name'], "$idir" . $_FILES['fupload4']['name'] $file_ext).rand(10000 , 99999).$file_ext); // Move Image From Temporary Location To Permanent Location } } $usr = "user"; $pwd = "pass"; $db = "db"; $host = "host"; # connect to database $cid = mysql_connect($host,$usr,$pwd); if (!$cid) { echo("ERROR: " . mysql_error() . Basically it changes the images randomly on browser load or refresh. However, I am trying to add an additional, not sure what to call it, a string or another caption for each images. Instead of this being a caption, it will be a link, so a link will appear under each caption that goes to another page when it is clicked on. I tried adding another caption and adding a like to it but getting syntax error. Thanks everyone! Here is the code: Code: [Select] <?php $images = array( array('file' => 'image1', 'caption' => 'Caption 1'), array('file' => 'image2', 'caption' => 'Caption 2'), ); $i = rand(0, count($images)-1); $selectedImage = "graphics/{$images[$i]['file']}.png"; $caption = $images[$i]['caption']; ?> And here is where the images are written to the page: Code: [Select]
<img src="<?php echo $selectedImage; ?>" alt="Random image" />
<?php echo $caption; ?>

IC This topic has been moved to Miscellaneous. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=315227.0 This topic has been moved to MySQL Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=319085.0 This topic has been moved to Miscellaneous. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=310934.0 My images generator comprises
an array of image names extracted form an images table from a database using a select statement
a random number generator,
and a string that builds the correct pathname for the selected file.
To select one of the images for display, i generate a random number between 1 and the length of the array.
Though the generator is working, I noticed one of the random numbers is throwing up this error:
Warning: getimagesize(images/): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in
An inspection of the array reveals 2 array elements (representing my number of images) but one array element is NULL ( the first entry in the banner table

Thanks. Does anyone know a way of to find the 'coordinates' of a deeply nested key in a multidimensional array whilst using array_walk_recursive? I am using array_walk_recursive() to stripslashes() of all values of an array. However I need to be able to get the full coordinates of a key if the said key is of a certain value. The function key() only seems to get the highest level key. As a test I have the following array which has three occurrences of a key named 'date'. Upon each occurrence I want to be able to know exactly where in the array it is so i can call is directly later. <?php $pages = array(array("variation"=>"xccsdc", "items"=>array(array("nm"=>"ss", "type"=>"ta", "kkl"=>"Prodion." ), array("nm"=>"nm", "type"=>"nwsfd", "kkl"=>"nws fd", "nws"=>array(array("date"=>"1328982639", "kkl"=>"f nfgfgnfgn", "title"=>"nfgn fgn fhn " ), array("date"=>"1328982632", "kkl"=>"fgn fgn", "title"=>" fgn" ) ) ), array("nm"=>"nm", "type"=>"nwsfd", "kkl"=>"nws fd", "nws"=>array(array("date"=>"1328982655", "kkl"=>" gh fgh","title"=>"n fgh n" ) ) ) ) ) ); function test_print(&$item, $key, $pages) { if($key == 'date') { //strip the slashes $item = stripslashes($item); //if the key is 'date' which is deeply nested, return the key. echo key(current($pages)); echo '
'; } } array_walk_recursive($pages, 'test_print', $pages); ?> What is returned from the 'test_print' function is: Quote variation variation variation Is this because array_walk_recursive() does not move the internal pointer pointer along? I found this thread on stackoverflow: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3133054/php-find-key-position-in-multidimensional-array which has a great function for finding the key, however i'm struggling to get my head around how I can apply something like this whilst using array_walk_recursive(). Does anyone have any ideas? So i was told to look into using fopen and random.org to generate a random number. Anyone have experience of this and perhaps a code snippet for me to look at and possibly use? help will be appreciated. I need an empty list and when a user clicks a button "Add me to the list" they are added to the first position in the list Slots 1. Tom 2. 3. 4. 5. Later, Jerry wants to be added to the list. So this happens Slots 1. Jerry 2. Tom 3. 4. 5. More people join the list 1. Bob 2. John 3. Jerry 4. Tom 5. Tom gets upset clicks the same button to join the list again, and he's bumped back up to first place. Slots 1. Tom 2. Bob 3. John 4. Jerry 5. Is this possible? And is so, how would I go about getting started on such a thing? I've been using PHP for about a year and a half. I have this script from http://lampload.com/...,view.download/ (I am not using a database) I can upload images fine, I can view files, but I want to delete them. When I press the delete button, nothing happens

I know this is not coding.. However... How tolerant is PHP from generating a random output from 1000s of entry columns in a mysql database. I would like to make a script that would potentially pick one of a 1000 results at random. is this a problem with being ran multiple times? |
