PHP - Query With Loop Problem
What I am trying to do is query a database using a loop conditional
and return the data but my code only repeats the first instance multiple times! However I don't keep the count of comments against the threads on my Threads table. I've attached a "describe" of both my comments (named Posts) and my Threads table (name Threads) I want to output the count of the comments against each Post in the above While loop To obtain the amount of comments against a thread I can get this from SQL by doing select count(IdOfThread) from Posts where id='169' ; But how would I access a query in SQL for the Posts table whilst it's already querying the Threads table? How would I implement this into the above while loop? Many thanks (and my db design maybe incorrect I'm very new )
I'm a bit of a newb to PHP and MySQL. I seem to be having an issue with something. How do I loop through an array, querying each value in the array until the query meets a certain condition.. In this case it would be that the number of rows returned from the query is less than five. There are 5 records from a join query. The first two columns display the results, 2 results in the left column and 3 results in the center column. The right column displayw empyt text used in displaying the results, there is no data to populate and it seems to mimic the the number from the center, 3.

I am really just a beginner in PHP but I've got a task to create a simple hotel booking system by using PHP and MySQL. It works in several steps, described in separate .php files. All of them seem to work fine, except the last one. In this last file I want to add all the data into a MySQL database table. I would like to do this by creating a record for each date, a guest is spending in a hotel (so that when booking, another loop checks whether the room is not occupied yet for that date). I decided to use a for-loop for that, but it doesn't seem to be working (the records just don't get inserted into the table). I checked all the variables by echo-ing them and they are all right. I also tried the query without the loop and it works as well. So I guess there is some other problem. $start = 0; I have a php script that I've been running that seems to have been working but now I'm wondering if some of my logic is potentially off. I select records from a db table within a date range which I put into an array called ```$validCount``` If that array is not empty, that means I have valid records to update with my values, and if it's empty I just insert. The trick with the insert is that if the ```STORES``` is less than the ```Quantity``` then it only inserts as many as the ```STORES``` otherwise it inserts as many as ```Quantity```. So if a record being inserted with had Stores: 14 Quantity:12
Then it would only insert 12 records but if it had It would only insert 1 record. In short, for each customer I should only ever have as many valid records (within a valid date range) as they have stores. If they have 20 stores, I can have 1 or 2 records but should never have 30. It seems like updating works fine but I'm not sure if it's updating the proper records, though it seems like in some instances it's just inserting too many and not accounting for past updated records. Let's say customer 123 bought 4 of product A and they have 10 locations
customerNumber | product | category | startDate | expireDate | stores Because they purchased less than their store count, I insert 4 records. Now if my ```$validCheck``` query selects all 4 of those records (since they fall in a valid date range) and my loop sees that the array isn't empty, it knows it needs to update those or insert. Let's say they bought 15 this time. Then I would need to insert 6 records, and then update the expiration date of the other 9 records.

A WHILE loop in a FOR loop problem Script about links and sublinks from 1 table. In fact 2 questions about that. 1) In the FOR loop I have for example to do the loop 3 times. (needs to find 3 results withing the loop with if and else) When first time, he's gonna search within the WHILE loop that holds (for example) 10 records of the DB in a variable. He needs to search for rowid number 5, he found it He goes out of the WHILE loop and goes searching again but now for rowid number 2 Now it seem that the WHILE loop start searching for number 2 but won't start from his first row in the variable (10 rows from the db ). He start at row number 6 instead of beginning all over again !!! -> so the order of the numbers of rows MUST be in an ascending order, ortherwise he won't find them all ! But the numbers I have are NOT in an ascending order !!! Why doesn't the WHILE loop begin again from his row 1 in the variable ? FOR loop { WHILE loop { content here, break; } } 2) even when I get all the result in an ascending order, he won't go doing a second search but with a different rowid number that he gets from the FOR loop. It is giving me back indeed the right new rowid number, but the WHILE loop is doing nothing. I have put many echo "..."; and other stuff for checking but can't find the cause ! I have a bookmark table set up, and each time a User decides to bookmark(+) or unbookmark(-) an player a row is created in the data table. (Matching the player ID and User ID) That's working fine. A query reads the most recent row for each player to determine if there is a + or - button next to each player. Testing the query and adding some dummy data, that part of it works too. However, the issue is the initial state, which I want to be a +. Once I go live, the table will be empty, nothing for the query to return/produce. How do I create an initial state of a + with no rows and have it not used or swapped out when Users start clicking + or -?

I tried to get it with CASE, but I don't think that's the right path. I also looked at UNION. I was able to get it to produce an initial state of +, but it still printed the already made up sample data too (so I have three instances of ++ or +-). (Players 2, 4 and 4)

My problem is that when the loop is done (you'll se my if statement) I want to add one on length so it print out a, b and c in four letters. ex abca, abcb. But it isen't working. I am taking the output for every title in my Database and displaying it in a box. Within that box I am providing the opportunity to open another box with further content inside. The problem with the code below is that when you click on the expand button it expands in all the boxes, not just the one you are clicking in. I don't understand why this is happening when everything else is ok - any fixes and explanations are greatly appreciated:
