PHP - Function To Exec Commands On A Local Machine From A Remote Page.
Hey guys I usually code in C and I started looking into PHP which I think is pretty good. I'm wondering if there's a function that can be used to execute a command from a remote server on my local machine???
As example if I'd like to have a PHP page/script running on my server which when logged onto would display me a page with buttons like "PING, NETSTAT, IPCONFIG, TRACERT" and when clicked on it would exec those commands but not on the server but from my machine??? So that I would get the PING from my local machine to google.com instead of from the server to google.com ??? making any sense ??? thanks Similar Tutorialshello and good day dear php-freaks which is the passwd for the mysql db run opensuse - therein i have installed a myql serfver and an apache now i want to port over a cms-system from a server to the localhost. question: the passwd of the configuriatin of the cms has got the following db connecgtion host : localhost db-name db-passwd question: does the db passwd need to match the passwd of the local mysql server!? is this true love to hear from you Is it possible to read from a file that is located on the user's local machine and not on the server? I have a CSV file that is about 70MB that I have to parse through and insert the data into a database. I have no problem doing this if I hard code the path to the file. Is there a way to get the path of the file that the user wants to be parsed into the database? I don't think uploading the file would be a good idea because, like I said, it is 70MB and is nearly 2 million lines. Simply parsing the file takes long enough without throwing in upload time.. This topic has been moved to Other Web Server Software. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=347581.0 I am new to php and starting to write my first programs. I have a laptop (my local pc) and I am wondering if there is some kind of php-interpreter available so I can test them out on my local machine without having to upload them to my website? Is there anyway I can avoid having to install a web-sever on my machine? Is there an all-in-one php interpreter? (someone suggested something called Xampp, - is this the best?) thanks,, I'm working on a light use/kiosk system. I have apache2 and php5 installed on Ubuntu 10.04 and I have the browser open the localhost web page by default. I would like to include a link on this page to open oowriter (open office writer) for the end user on the machine. I've tried Code: [Select] exec('oowriter'); with no luck. I've also tried setting the DISPLAY value before the command like Code: [Select] exec('DISPLAY=:0 oowriter'); with no success. I don't mind have the www-data user in the sudoers file if I have to sudo the command or something, but is this possible to do?? I'm not having any luck at all! Newbie question. I have a form that uses reCaptcha. If the Captcha is entered correctly it posts the data. Can I redirect the page using php or do I need to use javascript? I was going to throw in header('Location: thankyou.php'); but from my limited understanding this cannot be used anywhere except the very top of the page. if (!$resp->is_valid) { // What happens when the CAPTCHA was entered incorrectly die ("The reCAPTCHA wasn't entered correctly. Go back and try it again." . "(reCAPTCHA said: " . $resp->error . ")"); } else { echo "Recapture entered correctly!"; // Just for testing purposes postdata($firstname, $lastname, $company, $email, $phone, $comments); // sends data to my databse // this is where I would expect to redirect to a new page } Thanks phpfreaks Hi. I was asked to make a portal to facilitate access information of the company. There are databases in MSSQL and Oracle, and products made in PHP. NET and access to two different server files via network shares. Also as a facilitator wanted access to the files (default documents) on the local machines of users. I've done something, but now I'm locked in for remote access client machines. Is there any way to do this in PHP? and using another type of language? Hi all, I have two issue with script. 1. It works in PhpEd and with apache but doesn't work at remote server with apache. Error is well known - "Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent " 2. when I added more than 20 records like $var = $_POST['var']; it stops work local. Error is same. adminka_wrapp.php Code: [Select] <?php $addFormatName = $_POST['addFormatName']; $addFormatDes = $_POST['addFormatDes']; $page = $_GET['page']; if (isset($addFormatName) && isset($addFormatDes)) { $page = 'add_formats'; } else if ($page == NULL) { $page = "user_access_log"; } ?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../style/adminkaview.css"> </head> <body> <div class="col-wrap1"> <div class="col-wrap2"> <div class="col1"> <div class="content" id="c1"> <p><a href="?page=view_add_format">Format and extensions</a></p> </div> </div> <div class="col2"> <div class="content" id="c2"> <?php require("$page.php");?> </div> </div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> </div> </body> </html> view_add_format.php Code: [Select] <?php require_once "../function.php"; $q = connect("SELECT `formats`.* FROM `xxx`.`formats` "); echo "<form method='post' action='adminka_wrapp.php'> <table> <tr> <td>id</td> <td>Formats Name</td> <td>Description</td> </tr>"; while($rowResult = $q->fetch_assoc()) { echo "<tr>"; $id = $rowResult["id"]; $formatName = $rowResult["f_name"]; $description = $rowResult["description"]; echo "<td>".$id."</td>" ."<td>".$formatName."</td>" ."<td>".$description."</td>"; echo "</tr>"; } echo " <tr> <td> <input type='submit' value='AddFormat' name='submitAddFormat'> </td> <td> <input type='text' name='addFormatName' maxlength='20' size='5'> </td> <td> <input type='text' name='addFormatDes' maxlength='20' size='5'> </td> "; echo "</table> </form>"; ?> add_formats.php Code: [Select] <?php require "../function.php"; if (isset($addFormatName) && isset($addFormatDes) ) { $q = connect("INSERT INTO `xxx`.`formats` (`id` ,`f_name` ,`description` ) VALUE (NULL ,'$addFormatName' ,'$addFormatDes' ) "); header("Location: adminka_wrapp.php?page=view_add_format"); exit(); } ?> function.php Code: [Select] <?php function connect($query) { $db = new mysqli('127.0.0.1', 'xxx', 'xxx', 'xxx'); if (mysqli_connect_errno()) { printf("Connect failed: %s\n", mysqli_connect_error()); exit(); } $result = $db->query($query); $db->close(); return $result; } ?> Hi I'm trying to resize pictures for thumbnails I can do this correctly at linux command line with the following command convert ideologies.jpeg -resize 300x200 ./Thumbnails/testphp.jpg However trying to wrap this in PHP doesn't seem to work // Upload file to server if(move_uploaded_file($_FILES["file"]["tmp_name"], $targetFilePath)){ // Insert image file name into database $insert = $conn->query("INSERT into Threads (Title, ThreadBody, filename) VALUES ('$Title', '$BodyText', '$fileName')"); if($insert){ $statusMsg = "The file ".$fileName. " has been uploaded successfully."; exec("convert {['fileName']} -resize 300x200 wankertestphp.jpg"); } If you look above I do successfully hit the "The File has been uploaded successfully" line so it is entering that If statement. I've also checked the Threads table with a Select * from Threads and I can see the $fileName variable is entering there. I've tried numerous different ways around the $fileName variable (removing the brackets...removing the brackets and the apostrophes")
Any help is appreciated. hi guys. i'm new to php and Apache and i have a problem. i'm trying to execute an exe file that i have in my folder, and the code i use is Code: [Select] echo exec('test.exe');i have tried using this with and without the ".exe." and still no luck. i have also tried using a different path Code: [Select] echo exec('C:\Windows\System32\mspaint');now these codes work when i run them from my php editor(PhpED), bun when i try running it on Apache it gets stuck. I could configure almost all files the root can do. I wrote this script on the server for test as I need to provide the server some functionality ----------------- Code: [Select] <?php $cmd="ls -l"; echo exec($cmd,$ret_value) . "<br />DONE"; echo "<pre>".shell_exec($cmd)."</pre>DONE"; ?> ------------------ I get the OUTPUT as follows - ------------------ DONE DONE -------------------- I am novice user of Linux however any kind of help will be appreciated .......... Hmm, hello everyone, i'm running my php in an ubuntu server and I'm trying to run a command using exec (i.e. 'echo 1 > /var/www/test.txt') but I always get a permission denied issue, although i've already changed the permissions to 777 (read-write-execute) Any solution? Hi, I'm trying to build a 'simple' page to improve a process where I work.
I'm wanting to do this.
Read either the last line, the last 10 lines, or something I decide on from a log and display the output in table rows and columns.
I've done this before with loops and db query's, but don't know how to approach it using php only as this is the first time I'm using it.
So right now I have this in a table but it will only display one row.
<tr><td colspan="5"> how do i enable exec() in php.ini? where is php.ini? cant find it in the directories in my site. I have a PHP script containing the function exec which works fine in PHP 4 in IIS 7 on Windows 7. However this function does not work in PHP 4 in IIS 5 on windows server 2003. But I have to make it work there because that is what we have on our web server. Can someone provide a solution? When i run a .bat file with exec in php no other web pagers will load till the process is stoped. Can i make it so i can still leave the program running but still let the server load other web pagers. I'm writing a PHP script to pull information from another website which I don't own. That website uses javascript for pagination, splitting data across 3 pages. They also have a function to list all their data on one page but it requires clicking the link on the page which runs a javascript AJAX call. I want to pull all that data with PHP but how do I emulate the Javascript AJAX call in my code so I can get all that data instead of just the first page? Even if I could just call that function and then parse the information it returns to me. Thanks.
Hi All I have been working on a project in PHP for about three months. I have been happily working away with a WAMP server locally all that time. The problem arose today when I uploaded the project to a web server. I uploaded all the files by FTP and imported a mysql database on the new web server. When I went to view my home page I got the following error: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/priestbr/public_html/output_fns.php on line 1 My index page references an include to a page which stores my functions: <?php error_reporting(E_ALL ^ E_NOTICE); session_start(); include('priest_br_fns.php'); The priest_br_fns.php then includes a further 3 includes as below: <?php include_once('db_fns.php'); include_once('output_fns.php'); include_once('general_fns.php'); ?> PHP seems to parse the db_fns.php page OK and fails at output_fns.php (as per the parse error msg). But here's the thing....during some investigation I deleted the contents of db_fns.php and pasted in the contents of output_fns.php and then the page got parsed OK! Anyone have any idea why it's failing? Is it something to do with how I have the includes set up? I really need all the includes working obviously for the site to run. For info my local server where the site works perfectly is set up as below: PHP 5.2.6, MySQL 5.0.51a, Apache 2.2.8 The web server is set up like this: PHP 5.2.1.14, MySQL 5.0.91, Apache 2.2.16. Thanks in advance, Craig I have been searching for hours to try and figure out how I could print a remote page using PHP. I know in javascript, you can print the current page with: Code: [Select] <a href="javascript:window.print()">Print Page</a> But what I want to do is "javascript:window.print(http://some-link.com)", but would be nice if I could do it using PHP, if it's even possible. Hi everyone, The website I am working on is http://teemagroup.com/puyafolder and I have a global navigation with a drop down menu. What I want to do is on the right side have a PHP code to pull sub-pages under the drop down menu that its in. I don't quite know how to write it. For example everything under "Client Services" would go on the right side of that page. You know, to make it locally available instead of a drop down. And this code would work with all other pages. It would just pull what's under that page. I've added some files for you if you need it. This is done in wordpress if you wanted to know. |
