PHP - Updating Mysql Table With Random Element From Array
I have a user table that holds email addresses and for testing purposes I am trying to replace every email address with an email address defined in an array. I would like to randomly choose an email address from the array and update the table with this address. When I run the following code it randomly chooses a email address from the array but then updates every row with this one email address. Can you someone please let me know what I am doing wrong. I'm then converting the array back to a string and placing it back into the text field in the database. Everything works fine except for either an empty array value or a new line forcing its way to the front. Causing, naturally an empty value loaded onto the page that displays this part of the db. A have been working with CS-Cart and had so much trouble trying to update product combinations so I searched for help on the data feeds I am using and found that there was a script that would update my products for os-commerce, this has worked out even worse. All I really need is for a script to update one column called amount in a Mysql table by referring to the product_code column, Eg If product_code NS324 is= to 5 ad 5 to the amount column. This sounds simple but I think it might be complex. For purposes of ethics/anonymity due to sensitive survey data, I'd like the acquired e-mails to be saved uncoupled from the survey responses; this is simple to deal with, and I use a basic PHP e-mail form, which injects the email address in a table in MySQL in a different server than the one used for the survey. The issue is that the e-mails are saved in the MySQL database in order of injection, thus it is still theoretically possible for me to link the e-mails back to the survey responses (which have a time stamp that I cannot remove). Ideally I would like not to be able (at all) to link the e-mails to the survey responses, and one way to do that (since I don't save the e-mail injection timestamps in MySQL) might be to have the e-mails saved in MySQL in a random order. Not sure if this is possible, and not even sure if this would be via PHP or MySQL side of things. The server is on godaddy and uses Starfield interface for MySQL but I cannot find an option for random insert/saving of table items (emails). They are saved in order of injection. Their$ row has all the usual things to identify them userID and password etc.. and I had a further 3 columns which were labled top3_1 top3_2 & top3_3 to put each of their interests in from a post form. If instead I wanted to store this data as a PHP Array instead (using 1 column instead of 3) is there a way to store it as readable data when you open the PHPmyadmin? At the moment all it says is array and when I call it back to the browser (say on a page where they could review and update their interests) it displays 'a' as top3_01 'r' as top3_02 and 'r' as top3_03 (in each putting what would be 'array' as it appears in the table if there were 5 results. Now I know you can use the 'serialize()' & 'unserialize()' funtcions but it makes the entry in the database practically unreadable. Is there a way to make it readable and editable without having to create a content management system? I am trying to solve the following: I'm pulling in JSON data, decoding it to a array which I write to a database. However in the array are social security numbers that I don't want to store (privacyregulations). So I need to check if a row has a social security number and if it has one I want to replace it with 'anonymized'. I have got it to work successfully on a local Xampp test environment using the following script (extract off course): //first anonymize the social security number (ssn) if exists $data = json_decode($jsondata, true);

This leads to a filled table where the ssn's are filled with 'anonymized' if they exist in the array and empty if it does not exist for that row. This is exactly what I want ;-).

However, when I run the same script on a Lamp production environment (lamp stack on an Azure server) it does not work. Then the scripts results in totally ignoring the whole row that contains a ssn??

I'm creating a quick survey app for my son's cub scout pack's end-of-year surveys. There are two sets of questions: those where they want the responses to be completely anonymous and those questions where we need to know who filled out the response (people volunteering for positions, etc) I'm storing the responses in the db as two separate arrays, $anon and $nonAnon $anon[0] will be an array containing all the questions: $anon[0][0] = Survey question # 1 $anon[0][1] = Survey question #2, etc. The responses will be stored as arrays and placed in $anon as the 2nd element: $anon[1][0][0] = first response, answer to the first question $anon[1][0][1] = first resopnse, answer to the 2nd question $anon[1][1][0] = 2nd response, answer to the 1st question Etc. The pack leadership is concerned that no one would be able to reconstruct which anon response belonged to whom by matching up the order of the anon answers with the non-anon answers. Therefore I'd like to shuffle at least the anon responses. The long answer would be to build a temp array using the elements in $anon[1] and then shuffle that array and then reassign it to $anon[1]. Is there a way to use shuffle directly on $anon[1] without having to build a temporary array, shuffling it, then replacing the elements of $anon[1]? I've got a data array that looks like this: $arraylist = ('00101001','10001010','00010100','01100101'); And another that looks like this: $arrayposition = (0,3); The idea is to loop through $arraylist and when the loop gets to the indexes/positions listed in the $arrayposition array, to change all of the 1's to 0's, then put the values back into a string variable.
