Hello Friends!.... here is the big idea. I am trying to make a form in which there will be 2 drop down lists which will be populating directly from MySQL DB ....
Actually i am developing a student management system as my first PHP project... here i want to have 2 drop down lists first is roll number and second is student name. i want that when some one select the roll number in the first drop down the student name against it is automatically populated in the next drop down.

Hi,

A quick question please , I am trying to assign a selected index to a drop down list based on data retrieved from the database.

I tried using JavaScript :

but it does work. Any suggestion?

Hi I have tried the mysql forum but have had no joy with an answer to my problem so wondered if php would be better.

I want my users to be able to select from 5 different drop down lists where they can chose any combination from 1 up to all 5, I have attached the front end. These lists are being populated from mysql tables.

How am I best to do this please? my OR within the mysql does not work, should I not be doing this with php in the search processing? someones help would really be appreciated, just to point me in the right direction.

Php And Database Retrieval With Drop Down Box

I can't get it to use the item that is selected in the drop down box as the variable $va in the bit where it then queries the data base to retrieve only the line in the able that match the program_name with variable $va. variable $va would be the result of the drop down box.

Hey guys, im trying to make a dropdown box get a selected value based on the value from multiple rows.

Here is what im trying to do:

I'm trying to make it so that someone can add an item to the shop based upon the current items within the database.

How do I go about doing that? I know i have to change <input> to <select>, but beyond that, how do I code it so I can run an array to get all the current items from the table `items` and list them by their `name` field?

I am having a lot of trouble with this code, and I have no clue how to fix it. Right now, I have a GUI for a fictitious car dealership that has 5 populated drop down menus called Make, Model, Year, Color, and Mileage. What I want the code to do is read the selections made by the user with the drop down menus once the user hits the submit button and then filter the tables that I have in a mysql database to meets the choice requirements of the user.

Ok, I have one database three tables.

Table 1 is ncmr the main table where everything is to be entered.

Table 2 is companies, where all the companies in pull down menu 1 is located.

Table 3 is fabricators, where all the people who have had hands on the product are residing.

I want the selected choices of table 2 and 3 to be inputed into table 1. I know this has to be possible, but I don't know how. I thought I wrote the code correctly, but it seems not.

Ok here is the problem...
I want when a user inputs the requested data to the text fields , the script to insert those data in the prope table depending on the choise the user does by choosing one option from the drop down menu.

As a complete newbie to php and webdesigning i have a following problem.I would like to retrieve the data from database and display it in a drop down menu.Then i should allow the user to select the values from drop down list along with other details,in other words i have to embed the drop down output as the form input for the user and store the form data in another table.I am running a xampp server and i am using php 5.4 version.Please help.My code is as follows.In this case project_name is displayed as the drop down output.but how do i use the same drop down output as a input in the form.

Basically above code will form few boxes with items(which are actually questions) in it. There is one box on the right side with heading "Question Bank". From the "Question Bank" we can drag the questions to other boxes but can't do the reverse(this is also working). Also we can sort the questions within the box or drag the questions from one box to another. Box heading are the categories and items are questions associated to that categories. What i need is : Event that updates the database when we drag the questions from "Question Bank" to any box on the left side. Please note Questions in the "Question Bank" are pre created coming from database. Event that updates the database when we sort the questions within the box. I am currently creating a form and I want to populate a drop down selection menu with data from two fields in a form. For example, I want it to pull the first and last name fields from a database to populate names in a drop down menu in a form. I want the form to submit to the email address of the person selected in the drop down. Is this possible to do? The email is already a field in the record of the person in the database.

Can anyone give me some pointers or advice on how I should go about setting up the "Select" box drop down? I am not sure how to code it to do what I am wanting. Any links to relevant help would be appreciated too.

Thanks in advance for any help that you may be able to provide. I'm a graphic designer with VERY limited knowledge of php, javascript, etc. I'm trying to create a form on my company's website that will allow customers to view specifications for particular products. I'm trying to use selection boxes to narrow the customer's search, with the selection from the second box dependent on the first, and the resulting information displayed dependent on the choice from the second list.

So far, I've only been able to adapt some code I found in a tutorial to display the data in the first selection box. No matter what I've tried, I can't seem to get any information to display in the second box, let alone information that is dependent on the first selection. I am brand new to php and javascript, and I didn't even know AJAX, JSON, or JQuery even existed until only a few days ago. Below is the three php files I'm using to try and make this work. If someone could point out what is wrong with it, I would be eternally grateful.

Hi

I have to multi select tables, the table on the left is field with the contents of an array, I then have it so the user can make there selections from the left box and move them into the right. They then hit submit and it gets stored inmysql table as an array. The problem I am having is keeping the selections in that right box after any sort of page refresh.
Any ideas I have pasted the php and html code below, the add/remove function is controlled by javascript, I won't bother pasting that as i don't think it has anything to do with it.
