PHP - Passing Variables Inside Of A Function From Include() File...

Hello all,

I have a 14 column csv that I load into an array, retrieving only the required fields, load the array into columns and perform a sort:

FindMember();here $exploded[1] corresponds to $membernumber[$key], so this is where I would call the function, but this is where I run into trouble, nothing gets returned.

Does this have something to do with the scope of variables inside a user-defined function?

I'd appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.

Hello. Trying to learn MVC better by creating my own little framework to understand how it works.

Things were going OK til now.

I have a base class:

So the above method 'includer' just sees if a file exists/is readable and if so, include it.

Here's where I am using said method.

All that is called from the index page, with this line of code
Application::includer($controller_path);


Now, in line
$this->includer(ROOT . '/app/views/view.index.php'); # Problem here, i think

If i get rid of $this->includer, the script will work and say 'Smith'.

If i have $this->includer(...) or parent::includer(...), it doesn't work.

I have a bunch of files on a server and I had to populate each one with this code:

however, I'm getting an error, which I understand:

This site is getting quite large now, and I might just have to throw the content of all the files into a DB and pull it out when each page is requested.  however, for now everything is just PHP files sitting on the server.  so the question => is there anyway I can keep the include() code I currently have on each page, or does each file have to have it changed to the relative URI path?  if I can keep it the way it is, where is the configs to change it?  I might not even have access to it since this is shared hosting.   thanks!

I have 2 php files. I am unable to get B's global variable from A's static method:

Hi there,

I have already read some other topics concerning the same problem I am encountering.
I have multiple applications which I programmed in PHP. In all of these applications I use a central authentication database and a central translation database (also on PHP).

For this to work, I need to include a functions.php file for both the authentication db as for the translation db in all of my sites. Because I use different URL's for all my apps, including auth and transl, I am forced to use an URL when including both the functions.php files of the auth db and the transl db.

As I found out (the hard way) PHP5 doesn't include the raw data of my functions.php files into the calling files, so none of my functions are known and I receive an error  "Call to undefined function ...".

Since I am using these programs only on an internal network (not public available), I am not afraid of any security issues. Is there any way I can include my functions.php files using an URL (like include ('http://trans.mysite.com/sys/functions.php');) so the defined functions in the functions.php file are known for the calling page?

I hope I am not too confusing you all with my story, but I would really be very greatfull with some help. If needed I can also provide you with some more coding I used and configuring.

I already checked my php.ini file and the following settings have already been applied:
allow_url_fopen = On
allow_url_include = On
short_open_tag = On

I have a php file with a bunch of variables declared.  I now need a function to put data on a separate page that pulls variables from the required page.

So, on the required page, I have a variable set like this:  $qb1 = "John Doe";

The function on the new script is called like this:  getplayer($qb1);

I've tried this without the dollar sign in the function like this: getplayer(qb1); and then adding the $dollar sign in the rest of the function code...but it never populates the sql query correctly.  I'm guessing this is a case for variable variables or something similar, but I don't know how to get the variable value from the required page.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

CanI put one INCLUDE statement INSIDE of another INCLUDE statement?

Im kinda new to this fantastic world of PHP and i have a little problem i hope you can help me with.

Im trying to build a website where I use include() to genereate my content. On my index.php i have a menu which includes
content in a content div from external .php pages, my structure kinda goes like this.. (simplified)

site/
   index.php
   content/
       fronpage.php
       products.php
       contact.php

The HTML looks like this.

This all works very fine, but my problem is, can I have a include inside an already included page?
I would like to have a menu on my products.php site, but that page is already included from above,
and i would like the menu on the products.php site to stay as the content from the nested include
changes with input from the /products folder.

my idea was something like this.

site/
   index.php
   content/
      frontpage.php
      products.php
      contact.php
      products/
         product1.php
         product2.php


the HTML on the index.php is the same as above and then i would add the include() on the
products.php page, so its kinda the same thing, but one inside the other.

HTML inside the products.php folder

Still a new comer when it comes to PHP.

I have a situation where I want to use an include within an include and I am having trouble with my file paths.

My main header include, includes everything for each page of my site, beyond the opening of the body to incorporate my navigation etc conditionally loading in css, and loading in titles and meta data etc depending on the page in question.

This header needs to reference another include called the-pod.php which is required for every page, the only trouble is I want to use / to reference the root of the server and this is breaking my code. I can't use ../../ etc as its a different path depending on where the master file is located.

So my question is how do I get around this?

Can the root of the server or path to the root be stored in a variable? and if so how would I write this.

Any tips / advice will be greatly appreciated.

What i'm trying to do is have 20 HTML (href) links and a PHP include under the links. What I want is when a link is clicked the PHP include changes to a different file. Im sorry if its not very clear but i'm pretty new to PHP so don't know if its possible... Please can someone help

Ok I am not sure if this is possible but I hope someone out there can show me a way. I have a webpage with left content boxes that are looped in depending on the sql info. In one of the boxes the content of the box is going to be another page being pulled in. Now normally I would just put in the include ("page"); but its inside of an echo so you would end the echo do the include and then start the echo back up, however in this case its pulling in the coding from a variable so im a bit lost as to what to do now.

The page would have something like...

I've tried making the variable

Hoping that would fix it but I should of known better, the variable is being pulled in so its not processing it as part of the first step coding and it isn't going to do anything other then print it out like text.

So is there a way to make this work?

It only seems to be passing $item_name, the other 2 variables come up as being set, but are empty.

I think this is a simple question, but I'm just starting out and can't figure out how to do this exactly.

I'm making a demo site for a flower shop. The structure is as such (only listing the particular files in question - once this is done, the rest will be easy)

index.php -> inc_show_colors.php -> showColors.php

The index is to be standard through the site, loading include files into a main content area.  Clicking on a link loads inc_by_color.php (index.php -> index.php?page=by_color )

From there, one of the four colors is selected.

showColors.php contains switch statements for each color. I want to load showColors.php into the main content window when a color is selected, and I need to have it work for all four colors. I'm not sure how to do this, as you can't pass a variable to an include from what I understand.

What's the easiest way to go about this? Keep in mind this is an intro class and "best practices" are not necessary yet, just the simplest solution to get it working.

 I want each of these colors to link to another include file, which will load in its place in index.php.

I realize that showColors.php is probably a really messy way of doing this, but I just need to get it functioning ASAP for now.

I'm new to PHP so excuse me if this is an obvious question:

I've got a horizontal scrolling image gallery as an include, as it will be used in dozens of pages. Each page that includes the image gallery will be using different pictures and in different numbers (anywhere from 1 - 15 images).

In each page that includes the image gallery, I've turned each image to be used into a variable..
$image 1 = "images/image1.jpg";
$image 2 = "images/image2.jpg";
...
$image 7 = "images/image7.jpg"; etc.

Now, I imagine I need to write a loop in the include that will account for as many pictures as there are variables in each page, without adding links for variables that aren't in the page in question.

Something like (simplified):

Defined on page:
$image 1 = "images/image1.jpg";
$image 2 = "images/image2.jpg";
$image 3 = "images/image3.jpg";
$image 4 = "images/image4.jpg";

Loop in photo gallery include:

I know this doesn't work because $imagei isn't referring to the defined variables on the external page, but I'm not sure exactly where to go from here.
As in, $imagei in the first execution of the loop is equal to "$image1", but how do I link that to the $image1 variable defined in the page (as "image/image1.jpg") to display the image?

Does that make sense?
