PHP - Insert A New Row In Mysql For Each Line In A Html Textarea.

Good morning to all.

Recently I just read a post here , it's about how to insert different lines from <textarea> to different mysql rows .

Thanks to AbraCadaver , his code works well.

But now if have more than one textarea , such as area1,area2 and area3 , how should change the code so that all data can be inserted into database simultaneously?

Such as data of area1 is for column 1, row 1,
data for area2 is for column2 , row 1,
and data of area3 is for column 3 ,row 1.

Is it possible to make this works?

Can anyone tell me why this is not INSERTing? My array data is coming out just fine.. I've tried everything I can think of and cannot get anything to insert.. Ahhhh!

The problem is that everything that is returned from the WHILE loops is displayed in a single line.  However, I want the data displayed with a line break between each result, like this:

Header
Return 1 from WHILE loop
Return 2 from WHILE loop
Return 3 from WHLIE loop

How do I need to modify the code to make it display appropriately?

Hi.

I want a simple textbox, that when submited, will replace very every new line, with the <br> tag.

What will happen, when it submits, it will take the contents of a textbox, add the <br> tag where a new line is suposed to be, and save the string to a MySQL Database.

I think this is the easiest way of allowing a user to edit what appears on a website when logged in, but if there is a easier way, then please tell me.

What I am trying to do, is a login page, and once logged in, you enter new text into the textbox, click submit, and on the website homepage, the main text will change to what was submitted. But if there is a new line, I think the only way in HTML to make one is to put a <br> tag, so I want the PHP to but that tag wherever there is a new line.

Sorry if I am confusing, I am not that advanced at PHP, but I would be very happy if you could supply me with the correct code. Time is running out...

The textarea box returns null.

I've spent the past 2 days googling and trying different methods that people have recommended other people try yet still I come up with the same problem.  I am new to coding and I am learning the basic functions so all feedback is welcome in aiding my learning endeavor.  I am using a form and all of the inputs are submitting to the database other than the text area which comes up blank.  I do not get an error when submitting the form I just get a blank value for the text area 'Comments'.   FORM   <form action="contactdb.php" method="post" form="contactdb"/>

Hello PHP geniuses,

I'm having a bit of trouble here. I've built a WYSIWYG e-mail editor with the help of TinyMCE. I'm using a textarea to pull the innerHTML from the iframe where the actual editor is.

The textarea will be hidden in production, but it's shown now for debugging reasons. I have a JS function that grabs the HTML from the iframe and puts it into the textarea, and this works great. The entire HTML gets populated in the textarea. When I go to save the e-mail (using a simple query that posts it and sends it straight to the database). The HTML is truncated in the database field to around ~255 characters. (it varies depending on what I have in there, but it's usually between 252 and 255)

I really can't figure out why this would be cutting off like this. I've looked everywhere, I don't know what else to do.


I wanted to add that the field is a text field in the database, that was the first and most obvious thing to check. I can confirm that my database holds the full text no problem. I can go into phpMyAdmin and copy+paste infinite amounts of data into the html field and it saves it without an issue.

I don't understand what happens to linebreaks when I post textarea and save value to Mysql...

Btw, I notided that linebreaks works properly if I don't use mysqli_real_escape_string, but I like to keep script as secure as possible...

If I input this in to textarea:

Hello, I'm having a bit of a problem here, all help to this issues would be much appreciated

I am trying to use text boxes to insert numbers into the database based on what is inputed.
If I have a string, like this for example:
$variable = 09385493;

And I want to insert it into the database like this:
mysql_query("INSERT INTO integers(number)
VALUES ('$variable')");

When checking the integers table in my database, looking at the number field, the $variable that was inserted is outputted as
9385493

Notice the number zero was taken out of the front of the number. If the number is double 0's (009385493), both of those zero's would disappear, too.

If the html td changes size, the code below should resize the textarea to fit the html td. The code works for old browsers but why is it not working for new browsers?
