PHP - Encode/convert Text To Numbers/binary
Hi there.
I was wondering if it were possible to convert text to numbers or some sort of URL friendly link. For example, "Hello there" would be converted to '435342553' or whatever. I want to do this because for example when someone goes to this URL, example.com/435343434, the number/uri string would be decoded and whatever the text was it would be displayed on the site. I can write all this code no bother I just need some advice/ideas on the the encoding/decoding of the text. I was looking at some options for doing this..... hexdec - removes spaces md5 - cannot be decoded? None of them seem to be working, the problem is decoding them. md5 creates a perfect uri string but as I said it cannot be decoded. I would appreciate any ideas of suggestions. Thanks a million. Similar TutorialsI'm hitting a SQL Server db and every table has a ts (timestamp) field that is a binary datatype - 8 bytes. Is there a way to "read" the binary and output it as a string? I'm planning on storing RIPEMD-160 passphrase hash's raw binary data in MySQL as BINARY(20). Right now, I'm not sure if one of the following INSERT approach is more preferrable and more efficient: Approach (1) - Using mysqli::real_escape_string() ================================================= Code: [Select] $binhash = $mysqli->real_escape_string(hash('ripemd160', $passphrase, true)); $mysqli->query("INSERT INTO testtbl (Passphrase) VALUES ('" . $binhash . "')"); This approach saves hash() from converting raw binary data to hexadecimal format, but need to process and escape the binary string. Approach (2) - Using UNHEX() on MySQL ===================================== Code: [Select] $hexhash = hash('ripemd160', $passphrase); $mysqli->query("INSERT INTO testtbl (Passphrase) values (UNHEX('" . $hexhash . "'))"); This approach needs hash() to convert binary data to hexadecimal but no need for escaping the string and it put extra load on MySQL to convert the hexadecimal back to binary. I wonder whether someone may be able to help me please. I'm fairly new to PHP programming so please bear with me. I currently have a HTML user input form, where two of the fields are dependable drop down boxes. The user selects text values from these and, along with other pieces of information, the record is saved to a mySQL database. However, rather than saving the text value I save the 'id' field value for each selection made. On another 'Read Only' form, the user can then go back to have a look at the records they have previously saved. The problem I have is that rather than the user being able to see the text values selected from the drop down menus, they can only see the id for each of the selections made. I just wondered whether it would be at all possible please that someone could show me what I need to do so that the user can see the 'text' rather than the 'id' value from the selections they have made. The code that I am using to load the information into the read only form is below. Code: [Select] <?php require("phpfile.php"); // Start XML file, create parent node $dom = new DOMDocument("1.0"); $node = $dom->createElement("markers"); $parnode = $dom->appendChild($node); // Opens a connection to a MySQL server $connection=mysql_connect ("hostname", $username, $password); if (!$connection) { die('Not connected : ' . mysql_error());} // Set the active MySQL database $db_selected = mysql_select_db($database, $connection); if (!$db_selected) { die ('Can\'t use db : ' . mysql_error()); } // Select all the rows in the table $query = "SELECT findid, locationid, detectorid, searchheadid "; $result = mysql_query($query); if (!$result) { die('Invalid query: ' . mysql_error()); } header("Content-type: text/xml"); // Iterate through the rows, adding XML nodes for each while ($row = @mysql_fetch_assoc($result)){ // ADD TO XML DOCUMENT NODE $node = $dom->createElement("marker"); $newnode = $parnode->appendChild($node); $newnode->setAttribute("findid",$row['findid']); $newnode->setAttribute("locationid",$row['locationid']); $$newnode->setAttribute("detectorid",$row['detectorid']); $newnode->setAttribute("searchheadid",$row['searchheadid']); } echo $dom->saveXML(); ?> The two fields concerned are 'detectorid' and 'searchheadid'. The tables holding the 'id' and 'text' values for each are in the following tables 'detectors' and searchheads'. Many thanks and kind regards Chris In a text box I put in some code snippets that I want to refer to later, but when I display it, it displays it in html. How do I convert the code into pure text so it displays the actual code? If I try strip_tags, that just strips it (and it doesn't work with php). And I can't use strip_tags with conditions, because I don't want to list all codes! Also, the code has both html tags and php code - I just want that whole thing to be displayed as is, without havign the browser try to "read" it. Also if I put this into the text box, <td><?php echo date ("m/d/Y", strtotime($row['code_date']));?></td> then nothing is displayed. If I put this in the box: <input class="button" style="display:inline" name="whatever" type="submit" value="Press here" /> then I get an actual submit button instead of the code! Hello, I was wondering how i could count how many times the number 1 appers in the document and 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. The text will have over 1000000 results set out like this: Code: [Select] 2 10 1 4 2 7 5 3 8 10 1 7 7 2 1 9 3 3 7 3 1 5 2 1 4 7 7 9 10 2 5 8 10 9 8 3 2 2 9 6 8 8 8 2 5 1 9 3 5 9 3 4 6 7 5 6 9 2 3 6 2 once it has counted the charicters i want it to put it in to a table I have all redey made the table: Code: [Select] <table border="1"> <tr> <th>1</th> <th>2</th> <th>3</th> <th>4</th> <th>5</th> <th>6</th> <th>7</th> <th>8</th> <th>9</th> <th>10</th> </tr> <tr> <td>number of numbers</td> <td>number of numbers</td> <td>number of numbers</td> <td>number of numbers</td> <td>number of numbers</td> <td>number of numbers</td> <td>number of numbers</td> <td>number of numbers</td> <td>number of numbers</td> <td>number of numbers</td> </tr> </table> I have looked at the count_chars function but the manule is ver confuzerling if anyone could explane how i could do this it would be great Thanks Jragon Code: [Select] <?php echo $row_Recordset1['name']; ?> i want to convert the name in to like <a href=main.php?name= $row_Recordset1['name'] >> in databse i has 3 name Steve Mark Lisa i want that names into link like main.php?name=mark and so on how to do it help me h Hi all, I have a textarea field name brief in my php form. The problem is that users are entering phone numbers and email addresses in this field even though there is dedicated email and phone fields. I want a function to either delete the numbers and emails address automatically on this field or alert the user that numbers are not allowed in this field. I have include my form. Many thanks for your help the idea on what im doing is like a converter, like showing what your name would look like with certain images per letter, when you input text (your name for example) and when you press the submit button you would get a series of images in a row that represent each character that you typed.
here is the example that i did...
<html> <?php base64_encode is a perfect standard php encoding, but this produces = most of times. Is there an alternative making the encode by alphanumeric only? i know of Bace64 rot_13 is thare more than just this? (for urls) Hi, I am working on a project, and my customer is demanding some sort of "non-standard" hashing to encode field values on a database. This customer wants something exclusive, difficult to be decoded, and would accept no argument proving that the existing hash algorithms are good enough for the job. What makes it even more challenging for me is that I don't have much experience in PHP. The output should be something similar to a hex triplet (web color), so... this basically means I cannot use MD5, SHA, etc. This also means that PHP hash() function is useless in this case, unless there is a hash algorithm I don't know about, and that gives me the output I need. What I need is something like: Code: [Select] $output = functionthatdoesntexist("string to be encoded"); The "$output" var should contain something like: 19f7b4 (this is just a random value I am using to illustrate the format required for the output.) Now here are my questions: 1) Is there a PHP function that encodes a string/number, and gives me back a "hex triplet"? 2) If such function doesn't exist, is there a way to create one from scratch? How should I start? I just can't figure out how to solve this problem, so any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance, AP This should be really simple but I can't get my head round it. Please see the PHP/HTML below. <?php $a = array( 'test' => "'data'" ); $json = json_encode($a); ?> <!DOCTYPE html> <html lang="en"> <head> <meta charset="utf-8"> <title>Unknown Page</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/jquery/jquery-1.5.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> var j = jQuery.parseJSON('<?php echo $json; ?>'); </script> </head> <body> </body> </html> You will notice that data is stored by " then ' I have tried how it is and also with add slashes $a = array( 'test' => addslashes("'data'") ); It either outputs without slashes (which is clearly wrong) Code: [Select] var j = jQuery.parseJSON('{"test":"'data'"}');Or which I cant work out why dosent work Code: [Select] var j = jQuery.parseJSON('{"test":"\\'data\\'"}'); Now firebog throws the following error Code: [Select] missing ) after argument list How should I be escaping this variable? This topic has been moved to Other. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=357168.0 This topic has been moved to MySQL Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=315503.0 Hello - I am connecting to MySql and running a query. If I use a foreach loop, I can iterate over the results and have them print to screen. However, when I try the below everything is null!
How can I add the results of my MySql query to a php array?
<?php $con=mysqli_connect("site", "user", "psasswr=ord", "db"); if (mysqli_connect_errno()) { echo "Failed to connect to MySQL: " . mysqli_connect_error(); } $sql="SELECT * FROM test LIMIT 10"; $result = mysqli_query($con,$sql); echo json_encode($result); mysqli_free_result($result); mysqli_close($con); ?>
but what this prints is: {"current_field":null,"field_count":null,"lengths":null,"num_rows":null,"type":null} Code: [Select] echo '<img src="data:image/jpg/png/jpeg;base64,' . base64_encode( $row['image'] ) . '" height="150" />'; This is showing up images great in firefox, safari and chrome, but in internet explorer it shows a nice red cross, and I assume it is because of the encoding? Does anyone know how to get working in internet explorer as well? Pretty urgent job! Much appreciated for your help! Hi, I need to sort variables in groups of up to 15 and put it in an array. For example: $exstract['center_tabOpBody_0'] =5 $exstract['center_tabOpBody_1'] =6 $exstract['center_tabOpBody_2'] =8 $exstract['center_tabOpBody_3'] =1 Should yield: ARRAY( = center_tabOpBody_1,center_tabOpBody_2,center_tabOpBody_3 // <-----15 [1] = center_tabOpBody_0 //<----5 ) Is there some simple function do do the "efficiency" sort? Thanks, Vadim I am just messing around, but I can't figure this out... $hx = bin2hex('a'); echo base_convert($hx, 16, 2); prints out 1100001 but I really want it to print: 01100001 why is the first 0 missing when my code runs? create table mimi (mimiId int(11) not null, mimiBody varchar(255) ); <?php //connecting to database include_once ('conn.php'); $sql ="SELECT mimiId, mimiBody FROM mimi"; $result = mysqli_query($conn, $sql ); $mimi = mysqli_fetch_assoc($result); $mimiId ='<span>No: '.$mimi['mimiId'].'</span>'; $mimiBody ='<p class="leading text-justify">'.$mimi['mimiBody'].'</p>'; ?> //what is next? i want to download pdf or text document after clicking button or link how to do that |
