PHP - Search Mysql Database Coding Problem

Say a user puts in a support request, and for every request it generates a unqiue string, and enters it into the database.

Ok, now say there is a text field, when the user enters their unique string and it finds a match, it displays the data along with it.

How can I accomplish this? Im kind of new to mysql, but I know basic SQL.

Would be great if somebody could point me in the right direction!

As you can see, it's pretty simple and it's got very nice explanations of what everything does. But when I try it, I get this.

I'm pretty much stuck. Any ideas what that error means? And yes, there is a entry with the name of Ella in the people table of the database.

Hi, i'm currently building essentially an API for my URL shortener site so other sites can implement it. But i've hit a stumbling block on the last script of the lot(the others merely collate the data and store it)

In this last script, i need to find all this data, stored in cookies and inout it into the database, as the main site does(i'm confident this bit works, as it's the code from the main site just copied across, and i can see the data in the database). Importantly, i then need o look in another table for the callback URL to send the data back to

The $sendto is a username. i want to make it so if a user puts a Uppercase letter or a lowercase letter or a space where a '_' should be. it still matchs whats in the database. if you find a better way of doing this please post it

I'm having problems posting date from my MYSQL database. The date in my database is this "2011-01-08 02:53:14" but the it only echo's "01.01.70"

Hey there I'm trying to gather a users Facebook info and use that to create a user account for them on my database.

My code works perfectly for the first person who links his Facebook account with my site and adds all the user info to the database. After that with any other users it will display the logged in Facebook users name with their profile pic. The problem arises when it tries to add this person to the mysql database. It returns the error "An error has occurred and we are unable to sync your Facebook account."

I am developing a intranet forum in Php and MySQL and I am using ajax to display searched results on the same page but right now I am using query LIKE text% to search in database which is slower. but I want to make it fast search engin which can parse *,+ and show result.

Since I am using ajax i am not able to use free search engin,so if possible pls provide a complete solution

I have code to search a database of members, I can search by lastname but having a little problem. I want to be able to search by lastname starting with the first letter. (ie:  a or b or c or d and so on). As it is right now I can only search by first letter of last name if I add % to the search (ie: a% b% c%) will give me all members with the last names starting with the approiate letter designation. I'm not sure how to handle this, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

How do I modify the below code to search multiple tables in mySQL database?
