PHP - Variable Creation From Table - Beginners Question
Hi -
I know this is a #101 question but here goes! I simply want to select a single row from a table and use the columns fields as variables that can then be posted in a form. $result = mysql_query("SELECT * from tblquestions WHERE qid='1'"); if (!$result) { echo 'Could not run query: ' . mysql_error(); exit; } $row = mysql_fetch_row($result); $oid=$result['oid']; $qid=$result['qid']; $question=$result['question']; The code above isn't working - as when I try to echo each variable <?php echo $question;?> nothing is being shown on screen. I'm obviously barking up the wrong tree in the way I'm trying to create the variable - but don't really have any idea where to look next. Similar TutorialsHi, I rarely deal with PHP, so this may sound very easy, but I am struggling to figure out what to do. Basically I have created a website for a client that allows for customers to pay for certain packages using Paypal. They select the package they want, which then takes them to a data input page (email, tel no, name etc). Once they click submit, that information gets emailed to my client, and the customer is presented with the relevant Paypal page. What I need is on each data input page, for a checkbox to be available, so if the customer checks the checkbox, they get taken to a different paypal page rather than if they leave it blank. So really, what I need is if the checkbox is left blank and that page is submitted, the customer goes to Page A. If the checkbox is checked and they click submit, the customer goes to Page B. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers Graeme I need some helping with writing code for a web page that allows users to enter information in a PHP form along with proceeding to a PayPal payment page after entering the info. The information entered will be added to an SQL database, and only added after payment confirmation, then have those database entries expire after 1 month. This is what I have got so far, not sure if it is even correct. If it is, then I just need to added PayPal payment and SQL database expiration code. <html> <head> <title>Server Donation Page</title> </head> <body> <?php $hostname = "hostname"; $db_user = "dbuser"; $db_password = "dbpassword"; $database = "database"; $db_table = "table"; $db = mysql_connect($hostname, $db_user, $db_password); mysql_select_db($database,$db_table); if (isset($_REQUEST['Submit'])) { $sql = "INSERT INTO $db_table(id,user_email) values ('".mysql_real_escape_string(stripslashes($_REQUEST['id']))."','".mysql_real_escape_string(stripslashes($_REQUEST['user_email']))."')"; if($result = mysql_query($sql ,$db)) { echo '<h1>Thank you,</h1> your information has been entered into our database sucessfully.<br><br><img src=""'; } else { echo "ERROR: ".mysql_error(); } } else { ?> <h1>Server Donation Page</h1><hr> <form method="post" action=""> Steam ID (format STEAM_0:x:xxxxxxxx, go to <a href="http://www.steamidfinder.com">Steam ID Finder</a>):<br> <input type="text" name="id"> <br> Your Email: <br> <input type="text" name="user_email"> <br><br> <input type="hidden" name="authtype" value="steam" /> <input type="hidden" name="flags" value="o" /> <input type="hidden" name="immunity" value="0" /> <input type="hidden" name="identity" value="donator" /> <input type="submit" name="Submit" value="Submit"> </form> <?php } ?> </body> </html> Thanks in advance! Hi guys,
I'm a beginner in php.I know some basic codings in it.I want to do the project in php.Help me how to start..?..and what kind of project is best for beginners to learn..?
I'm trying to loop through a database and assign the results to a variable that is created with the loop with the variables name based on which instance is currently running in the loop. I'll go ahead and include the code I thought might work, but I obviously have no idea what I'm doing in this case $i = 0; while ($i < $num_results) { $ip = ($i++); $result = ("$res_" . "$ip"); $loop_date = ("$res_" . "$ip" . "_date"); $get_result = "SELECT * FROM table WHERE id = '$result'"; $que_result = mysql_query($get_display); while ($sub_res = mysql_fetch_array($que_result, MYSQL_BOTH)) { $loop_date = $sub_res['date']; } $i++; } echo $res_1_date; Can anyone please clue me in on how I can get this to work please. It works with $result but it isn't working with the last $res_1_date... As I'm writing this I see where the problem is but just not quite sure how to make it work... Hi, I have a quick question: is it possible to replace a Class name with a variable? I keep getting an error when I try: Area_town::count_all(); becomes: $className = 'Area_town'; $className::count_all(); I want to make the page dynamic, but to do so, I have to have the Class name as a dynamic name. Error: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_PAAMAYIM_NEKUDOTAYIM in /home/p/o/powtest/web/public_html/admin/lib/pagination/paging_town_data.php on line 15 Thanks Hey, <a href="edit.php?id='.$row['id'].'">edit</a> I am learning PHP and I am wondering what I put after my SQL connection info so that I can create a variable $id $id = <what goes here> How do I make $id to store the unique number in this variable.. For example edit.php?id=100 how does it store this number...thanks... Sorry, this will be a simple question. Say you define two global variables in your functions.php file as: GLOBAL $salesTax = .07; GLOBAL $shipping = 5.00; Those variables would be accessiible in the checkout.php page, right? I have a question on when PHP will allocate space in the code. Does it happen up front, or as the code executes? // some stuff if (some_conditional) { // something happens here and returns or exits } // we never get here $foo = array(); exit(0); In this example, does $foo get created? The org variable holds the value of the folder name. The problem is that the header is sending out ".$org." and not the actual value of $org. Example output url: http://127.0.0.1/application/".$org."/display/trackingboard.php I want this url if the value is test: http://127.0.0.1/application/test/display/trackingboard.php Thanks! Code: [Select] $org = "test"; header('Location: ../application/".$org."/display/trackingboard.php'); are all of the following same, or some same or all different: $variable="" $variable=0 $variable=NULL and which of the above will satisfy if(empty($variable)) { blah!; } $to = $notifyemail; $from = "xxx@xxx.com"; $subject = "[ $rawticket ] Random $notifytype Notification"; Currently the output is an email with a total of 15 numbers, i.e. SUBJECT: [ 000000001718989 ] Random $notifytype Notification I want to remove the 0's Would something like this work or is this not possible? "[ (substr($rawticket,9)) ] Random $notifytype Notification"; I'm having a complete brainfart right now and can't seem to remember this. Tried looking it up in the manual, but couldn't find an example. Here's what I have: class myclass { function testA { } function testB { } } So that's my basic setup. I want to define a variable. I then want to set it's value in testA(). I then want to be able to access the value in testB(). Where and how do I define this variable? I thought all I had to do was something like: class myclass { public $tempvar=''; function testA { $tempvar="my new value"; } function testB { echo $tempvar; } } But this says that $tempvar is equal to NULL. What am I forgetting? Thanks in advance! Hey, I have a mysql table for my setups, it contains basically three fields: 'id','variable','value'. i want to create/name a variable from a result from the database and then from another field it should give the newly created variable its value The table is already filled with the variables i want to use, now i just want my index page to get the different variable out of the table with the value as its value. Is that even possible? so lets say i have a variable in my table called 'header_color' the value in that table row is 'FFF' i want my index to get all variable from the database (through a while??) with again its value as a value. This is my thought: $sql = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM setup"); while ($res = mysql_fetch_array($sql)){ $res[variable]; = $??my_variable??; $myvariable = $res[value]; } and so when i have my div for my header i want it to be <div style="background-color:#<?=$header_color?>"> resulting in <div style="background-color:#FFF> in my table under variable it has the name "header_color" and under value "FFF" maybe i need to create an array or something i have no idea. Hope you guys can help me. I have a query: $query ="select * FROM telephone_admin where name Like ' ".$_GET['answer']." ' "; I would like to add % before and after so that the query will search for result which contains the PHP variable $_GET['answer'] before or after, but the problem is how can I add % before or after ' ".$_GET['answer']." ' within the query?? Thanks! hi guys. i am trying to set a variable to the session global variable. I've initialized the session with session_start(); at the very beginning of my website, and then i try finding if a session variable has been set like so if(isset($_SESSION['user'])) { print 'user is logged in'; } but this works in reverse. i have not set any session variables, but asking if it is set, results in an affirmative answer. so i am thinking this is because of register_globals. because i went to read about register_globals, and it says that if register_globals is turned off, i cannot use any other varibale except members of the session array. i dont know what that is yet, but a question befo in the php manual it says register_globals is deprecated, and it appears i need to enable it to set other variables as session variables besides it's associative array. if this is true, how to enable register_globals and allow other variables to be used as session variables? I have a dropdown menu <td width="148" height="35" valign="top"><b>Type: </b> </td> <td><select name ="tabledrop"> <option value="goggles">goggles</option> <option value="headbands">headbands</option> <input type='hidden' id='tabledrop' name='tabledrop' value = ''/> </select> </td> those 2 options are actually names of my tables. I tried this and got some syntax error. $type = $_POST['tabledrop']; $item = $_POST['goggles_name']; $price = $_POST['goggles_price']; $file = $_FILES['goggles_image']['name']; $query = "INSERT into $type SET [$type]_name = '$item' , [$type]_price = '$price' , [$type]_image = '$file'"; Hi, i cant seem to get something working, should be simple but its not working for me. I just need to only display a table if a variable in my table = a certain value. The column in the table is called 'option1_available' and if its value is set to 'Y' i want it to display a table. Appreciate any help, Thanks Hello, I'm working on a PHP register form, all I want to do, is to be able to insert an extra variable into the database: Code: [Select] // now we insert it into the database $insert = " INSERT INTO users (username, password) VALUES ('".$_POST['username']."', '".$_POST['pass']."') "; $add_member = mysql_query($insert); right, so I have the username and password variable being passed. But I also want to pass a variable into a column called 'weaponAttachments', all I want for this variable to be is 5000. So, in other words, something like this: 5000['weaponAttachments'] Thanks Hi, I'm trying to drop a table form a database using the table name as a variable. This variable is set within a session. I am using a form where you input the table name, then the DROP TABLE procedure is executed in the next page. I know that the variable gets passed because it prints the table name variable out when I "echo". The execution is simple (code found in deletetable.php) $temp = $_POST['temp']; $query = "DROP TABLE $temp"; if(mysql_query($query)){ echo "<h1 style='color:green;'>Table $temp deleted</h1>";} else{ echo "<h1 style='color:red;'>Deletion of table '$temp' failed!</h1>";} Here's my code for the two pages: delete_table.php <?php include("includes/header.html"); session_start(); $hostname = $_SESSION['hostname']; $user = $_SESSION['user']; $passwd = $_SESSION['passwd']; $database = $_SESSION['database']; $tblname = $_SESSION['table']; $conn = mysql_connect($hostname, $user, $passwd, $database); /*if(! $conn ) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); }*/ ?> <div id="container"> <div id="header">Create DB</div> <div id="breadcrumbs"> <?php function check_port($port) { $conn = @fsockopen("127.0.0.1", $port, $errno, $errstr, 0.2); if ($conn) { fclose($conn); return true; } } function server_report() { $report = array(); $svcs = array('3306'=>'MySQL'); foreach ($svcs as $port=>$service) { $report[$service] = check_port($port); } return $report; } $report = server_report(); ?> <div id="server"><p>Server is <?php echo $report['MySQL'] ?
