PHP - Check A Variable For A Word

Hello, how do you search for a filename containing a date and then match it to a variable? Please note the filename may only contain some of the variable being matched to.

Any help appreciated...

i m fetching value by Mysql "cad_count integer(5)" and  feild then i cheak this value is interger  or not it show the "Value not Integer". What is wrong in it ???

How can I check if a variable only has these characters:
- number (0-9)
- decimal point (.)
- positive (+)
- negative (-)
- dollar ($)

I tried is_numeric, but it doesn't like negative values...

I need to add the variable value to another variable. I have to accept numbers (including negative and decimals)...

ex:
0.1 = TRUE
-.1 = TRUE
12 = TRUE
1000.00 = TRUE
12a = FALSE

I have the following if statement:

The value for the variable gets taken from a drop down menu, which is a list of categories.

The problem I am having is with the isset condition check is that the variable is always set, but it does not consider the check for equality with the 'All' condition. Which basically means no matter which category I choose from the drop down menu, it always goes to this very first if statement, and does NOT go to the other elseif statement, and I think it has to do with the isset condition check, because without it it would work, though without it I am getting a notice warning, that the variables are undefined.

Any ideas how I can make it check if its equal to 'All' together with the isset condition check?

What I am trying to say is no matter which category is chosen, with the isset condition check, the variable is always set, thus the if statement is true, there basically seems to be a contradiction going on.

Basically, every time exists is called, it will only assign b to a if b  isn't already initialized.

What's the most effective way to achieve the equivalent in php? ternary?

Hello all. I am very new to PHP, and I am not sure where to look or what I'm looking for in my current assignment.

My task is to take in two numbers between 0-100. Once I take in that number, it should state beside it "The __ was accepted."
The program should not accept any numbers greater than 100 or any characters.

Once I do this, I must take a second number and do a similar thing.

Finally, I must have a statement show up at the bottom stating which number is greater.

Essentially, I need help in determining what I should use to place parameters, and how I can keep the program from echo ing any statement until input has been taken and tested for parameters.

Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated!

I am trying to allow the user to update a variable he chooses by radio buttons, which they will then input text into a box, and submit, to change some attributes. I really need some help here.  It works just fine until I add the second layer of variables on top of it, and I can't find the answer to this question anywhere.

this is where I am having problems it was reading
echo your record has been successfully added to the database

What I want is for it to open up a new page with my menu and my css and all that good crap to a page where it will read the following
Your information has been added to our database
We have added

Event name = "whatever the event's name was"
Event address = "address:"

so on and so on for all the fields in my form that was submitted to the database.

with just using the echo command it always opened to just a blank page no formatting and no css as well as no all important links

Can you please tell me what I'm doing wrong or where I can find a good guideline that Is easy to understand on how to do this?

This is the best code i've found so far that guides on how to format the text in ms word via PHP. All set to go but one thing that I am trying to accomplish : to have a clickable email address (hyperlink) in the same ms word file.

i have got this code somewhere from the net:

I have just re-installed Xampp and suddenly my sites are now displaying lots of:

My login script stores the user's login name as $_SESSION[ 'name'] on login. For some unapparent reason, i'm getting errors stating that $user  and $priv are  undefined variables, though I've attempted to define $user as being equal to $_SESSION['name'], using $user to look up the the user's privilege level (stored as the su column ) in the SQL table, and then where the result of the sql query is $priv which is then evaluated in an if statement. I can't seem to figure out why this might not be working.
