PHP - Php Form Prevent Empty Table Submit
Well the problem is simple i want to prevent submitting empty textfield or textarea with php code
Here is my code ... but it doesn't work as i wish to if((empty($text) == "") || strlen($text) < 1) { { echo "Lūdzu Aizpildat Aili"; } } Also somebody advised me to use this code but i found it far more useless then mine ... function check_empty($text) { if(empty($text) || !empty($text) || $text || !$text || $text ^ $text || 1/0) check_empty(!!!!!$text); return never_ever; } // check_empty Similar Tutorialsi have a form for my admin to update the products and their deails on my site. but i have decided to add stock and supplier tables to the database. so i have a products table, stock and supplier. each have an id.
in my admin form, id like the admin to submit once to multiple tables...
php code that i need to improve
<?php // Parse the form data and add inventory item to the system if (isset($_POST['product_name'])) { $product_name = $_POST['product_name']; $price = $_POST['price']; $category = $_POST['category']; $stock = $_POST['stock']; $details = $_POST['details']; $rating =$_POST['rating']; $letter = $_POST['letter']; $supplier = $_POST['supplier']; // See if that product name is an identical match to another product in the system $sql = mysqli_query($con, "SELECT id FROM products WHERE product_name='$product_name' LIMIT 1"); $productMatch = mysqli_num_rows($sql); // count the output amount //if product match is greater than 0 if ($productMatch > 0) { echo 'Sorry you tried to place a duplicate "Product Name" into the system, <a href="inventory_list.php">click here</a>'; exit(); } // Add this product into the database now by sql query $sql = mysqli_query($con, "INSERT INTO products (product_name, price, details, category, stock, letter, supplier, rating, date_added) VALUES('$product_name','$price','$details','$category', '$stock' ,'$letter',' $supplier' , '$rating' now())") or die (mysqli_error()); $pid = mysqli_insert_id($con); // Place image in the folder $newname = "$pid.jpg"; move_uploaded_file($_FILES['fileField']['tmp_name'], "../inventory_images/$newname"); //_FILES is a global var header("location: inventory_list.php"); //auto refresh, and it wont try to re add the item exit();//not necessary but its always safe to exit } ?> html form <form action="inventory_list.php" enctype="multipart/form-data" name="myForm" id="myForm" method="post"> <table width="95%" border="0" align="center" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="0" summary="this is where the admin will insert new items"> <caption><div id="title"><a id="add_new_item"></a>Add New Inventory Item</div> </caption> <tr > <th width="30%" scope="col" align="left">Product Image</th> <th width="70%"><label class="desc"> <input type="file" name="fileField" id="fileField" autofocus required /> </label></td> </tr> <tr > <th width="30%" scope="col" align="left">Product Name</th> <th width="70%" scope="col" align="left"> <label class="desc"> <input name="product_name" type="text" id="product_name" size="64" autofocus required /> </label></th> </tr> <tr> <th width="30%" scope="row" align="left">Letter</th> <td width="70%"> <label class="desc"> <input name="letter" type="text" id="letter" autofocus required /> </label></td> </tr> <tr> <th width="30%" scope="row" align="left">Product Price</th> <td width="70%"> <label class="desc"> <input name="price" type="text" id="price" autofocus required /> </label></td> </tr> <tr> <th width="30%" scope="row"align="left">Category</th> <td width="70%"><label class="desc"> <select name="category" id="category"> <option value="Fruits">Fruits</option> <option value="Vegetables">Vegetables</option> <option value="Indoor Plants">Indoor Plants</option> <option value="Outdoor Plants">Outdoor Plants</option> </select> </label></td> </tr> <tr> <th width="30%" scope="row" align="left">Suppliers</th> <td width="70%"> <label class="desc"> <select name="supplier" id="supplier"> <option value="Kenny's Organic Supplies">Kenny's Organic Supplies</option> <option value="Mom's Garden">Mom's Garden</option> <option value="Big Brother">Big Brother</option> </select> </label></td> </tr> <tr> <th width="30%" scope="row" align="left">Stock</th> <td width="70%"> <label class="desc"> <input name="stock" type="text" id="stock" autofocus required /> </label></td> </tr> <tr> <th width="30%" scope="row"align="left">Product Details</th> <td width="70%"><label class="desc"> <textarea name="details" id="details" cols="35" rows="5" autofocus required></textarea> </label></td> </tr> <tr> <th width="30%" scope="row" align="left">Rating</th> <td width="70%"><label class="desc"> <select name="rating" id="rating" > <option value="1">1 of 3 Stars</option> <option value="2">2 of 3 Stars</option> <option value="3">3 of 3 Stars</option> </select> </label></td> </tr> <tr> <th width="30%" scope="row"> </th> <td width="70%" align="right"><label class="desc"> <input type="submit" name="button" id="button" value="Add This Item Now" /> </label></td> </tr> <tr> <th width="30%" scope="row"> </th> <td width="70%"> </td> </tr> </table> </form> Edited by Ch0cu3r, 17 January 2015 - 04:03 PM. I have multiple PHP forms set up. Most of them have few fields that if not filled up the form will not be submitted. And one question that if you answer wrong you will not get through either. With this I have eliminated most "hgdgfgdhsj" style forms submissions by spam bots. But every now and then I get ghost or empty form submission. In database I get records (only one at a time) that are fully blank (every now and then). This confuses me. How and why does it happen, and mainly how do I prevent it? Thanks What I am looking for is that if any field in a database is empty, the form comes back and puts in the word "empty" into the web page, but not the database. I got this right now, it shows the first part fine, but the second part it doesn't show the "Empty" comment... I don't understand why... as far as I can tell the code is fine... Code: [Select] <?php //Nonconformity, Disposition, Comments and Comments & Additional Details echo '<div id="box3">'; if (!empty($row['Nonconformity']) || !empty($row['Disposition']) || !empty($row['Comments']) || !empty($row['CommentsAdditional_Details'])) { echo '<div id="non"><span class="b">Nonconformity: </span><br />' . $row['Nonconformity'] . I want to submit same multiple entries using a form submission. And If I have other queries submitted in the same form, I want those quarries to be submitted only once. Is that possible to do? Pretty straight forward I guess but as the name suggests am a newbie. I have a form that requires the user to enter certain parameters. If the values are blank it submits to itself and loads the error messages. What I want to do is create PHP code that submits the form to a different url. What I thought was create two forms (the second with hidden fields replicating the first form), each form having a different url in the action"" code. What I cant work out is the PHP IF ELSE code to submit form 2 if Form1 is is validated correctly. This is the PHP code relevant to the form validation. Help? <?php //If form was submitted if ($_POST['submitted']==1) { $errormsg = ""; //Initialize errors if ($_POST[width]){ $title = $_POST[width]; //If title was entered } else{ $errormsg = "Please enter width"; } if ($_POST[drop]){ $textentry = $_POST[drop]; //If comment was entered } else{ if ($errormsg){ //If there is already an error, add next error $errormsg = $errormsg . " & content"; }else{ $errormsg = "Please enter drop"; } } } if ($errormsg){ //If any errors display them echo "<div class=\"box red\">$errormsg</div>"; } //If all fields present if ($title && $textentry){ //Do something echo 'THIS IS WHERE I WANT THE CODE TO SUBMIT FORM 2 or SUBMIT FORM 1 TO A DIFFERENT URL'; } ?> I am having a problem trying to show if cell is empty echo one thing if empty and starttime if there is one: Code: [Select] if(isset($rown['starttime'])) { echo "Add Day"; } else { echo $rown['starttime']; } I have a form which submits to register.php How can I make it so that when the user gets sent to register.php, and then for some reason they refresh it on register.php, the form doesn't get resubmitted and data isn't added to the database? Hello all, As the title says: For sake of example, let's say I have a form with a couple text boxes and a submit button. When you hit submit, the data from the text boxes is translated into a database record. Howver, refershing the page will this record again and again -- which I do not want. How can I prevent this? Keeping in mind the business logic of my applicatoin allows the same record to be entered twice -- however, it should only happen if the user intentionally visits the form agian, and enters the same data. It should not happen on a page refresh. I assume this is a common problem...? Any thoughts? Thanks! I have two scripts: script1.php and script2.php.
Script1 creates if it doesn't already exist and adds to a session named "SESSION1" and displays it:
Script2 similarly adds to a session named "SESSION2", but then needs to display the session used by the first script (i.e. SESSION1), and then goes back to its original session (SESSION2).
Script1 works perfect. But when Script2 is executed, it changes the session ID in the SESSION1 cookie to the same value as used in its SESSION2 cookie. If Script1 is later executed, it obviously lost its previous session values as it is now using a new session ID.
If I comment out the two session_name() lines, it will not overwrite the other session, however, this doesn't provide the functionality I need.
What is causing this and how do I prevent it????
script1.php
<?php // script 1. Will be accessed as http://one.example.com $t=time(); //Access the primary session for script 1 session_name('SESSION1'); session_start(); $_SESSION['s1_'.$t]=$t; echo("SESSION1<pre>".print_r($_SESSION,1)."</pre>"); ?>script2.php <?php // script 2. Will be accessed as http://two.one.example.com $t=time(); //Access the primary session for script 2 $default_name=session_name('SESSION2'); session_start(); $_SESSION['s2_'.(2*$t)]=2*$t; echo("SESSION2<pre>".print_r($_SESSION,1)."</pre>"); //Use session created by script 1 $old_id_script2 = session_id(); session_write_close(); $old_name_script2 = session_name('SESSION1'); session_start(); echo("SESSION1<pre>".print_r($_SESSION,1)."</pre>"); //Go back to primary session session_write_close(); $old_id_script1 = session_id($old_id_script2); $old_name_script1 = session_name($old_name_script2); session_start(); echo("SESSION2<pre>".print_r($_SESSION,1)."</pre>"); echo("default_name: $default_name<br>"); echo("old_id_script2: $old_id_script2<br>"); echo("old_name_script2: $old_name_script2<br>"); echo("old_id_script1: $old_id_script1<br>"); echo("old_name_script1: $old_name_script1<br>"); ?> Edited by NotionCommotion, 30 November 2014 - 11:45 AM. Hello there,
I would be really grateful if someone could advice please, how do I find this pesky entry in the 'db' table? This is what it says,
"Found an entry in the 'db' table with empty database name; Skipped." MySQL version is 5.5.40
I am pretty much stuck on it. Does it mean the table's name is db? Plus, I am not sure I understand the wording of it too. The empty database name cannot exist by default as it won't allow you to create a database without a name in the first place. I do not even know how and where to begin to look for it because honestly speaking I do not quite understand the phrase itself, because it does not make much sense to me. I would really highly appreciate it if someone could explain and suggest how do I find the... "whatever it says" :-) and to fix it. Many thanks in advance!
P.S. I know this warning may easily and safely be ignored as it is of minor inconvenience and not that important the more so as MySQL is working fine but my curiosity is just running wild for two reasons: 1. I do not really understand what this warning message is trying to tell me and 2. How do I find and adjust it to turn off the warning.
Simple regular things as running myisamchk -r *.MYI on where MySQL is did not help as this warning is actually out of scope of what myisamchk can fix.
And yes, I've Googled it long enough but couldn't seem to come up with anything reasonable solutions.
Thankful for any suggestions / pointers / assistance / comments at all.
Edited by Klaipedaville, 29 October 2014 - 06:17 AM. Hi
I am trying to check whether all the form has been filled in in a questionaire on my site.
If any entry has not been made I want it to re-present the script for the form again.
I have tried this, but it runs the form whatever the state.
<?php session_start(); $_SESSION['Test']=$_POST['VID']; print_r ($_POST); $mail = $_POST['email']; $Vrate = $_POST['rate']; $Verse_imp = $_POST['Vimp']; $site_sug = $_POST['site']; $Site_imp = $_POST['Simp']; if (empty($email)) { echo '$mail is either 0, empty, or not set at all'; require('questionnaire.html'); } if (empty($Vrate)) { echo '$Vrate is either 0, empty, or not set at all'; require('questionnaire.html'); } if (empty($Verse_imp)){ echo '$Verse_imp is either 0, empty, or not set at all'; require('questionnaire.html'); } if (empty($site_sug)) { echo '$site_sug is either 0, empty, or not set at all'; require('questionnaire.html'); } if (empty($Site_imp)) { echo '$Site_imp is either 0, empty, or not set at all'; require('questionnaire.html'); } ?>This is unfinished code thats why I have left the echos in. Before I add the require it detected the empty line OK. Any suggestions? Here is video and there is shown how specific this problem is http://faksx.sytes.net/help/ Solutions Witch doesn't fit in for this time is meta refresh,header(),exit(),die() . I dont understand why this simple validation im doing isnt working. I got rid of all my code and took it down to its simpliest form. I tried every debuging i can think of using echo's. If all fields are blank it performs as suspected and echos all fields are empty. but if i type something in one of the fields or all the fields at once it never goes onto the else statment. Is it possible to display everything a page is doing? in like true and false statements. if (isset($_POST['send_attack'])) { // checks if all fields are blank if(empty($_POST['jaffa'])) { echo "jaffa is empty <br />"; if(empty($_POST['staff_cannons'])) { echo "staff_cannons is empty <br />"; if(empty($_POST['transport_ships'])) { echo "transport_ships is empty <br />"; if(empty($_POST['bombers'])) { echo "bombers is empty <br />"; if(empty($_POST['mother_ships'])) { echo "mother_ships is empty <br />"; echo "all fields are empty"; }else{ echo "one or more fields has something in it"; }}}}}} Hello, this question was already answered on this form but the answer was deleted by admin a year or so ago. anyway, I have an edit items page with multiple images and I do not want to have to relocate all of the images manually but if I do not then an empty variable is passed to mysql, thus deleting my image. What do I need to know to write a code that will not pass an empty variable to my table? Do I use sprint? hi all i have a problem here, Iv got a form that uploads images to a folder and updates the db with the name of that image, that work ok but if one of the upload field are left blank then the script updates the db with empty values how can i get it to only update the db with only submitted form field data???? here is the form Code: [Select] <?php if (isset($_GET['id'])) { $id = $_GET['id']; } ?> <form action="ud_image.php?id=<? echo "$id"?>" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data" name="form1" id="form1"> <table class="udp"> <tr> <th>Thumbnail:</th> <td><input type="hidden" name="MAX_FILE_SIZE" value="1029120" /> <input name="ufile[]" type="file" id="ufile[]" size="50" /></td> </tr> <tr> <th>Image 1:</th> <td><input type="hidden" name="MAX_FILE_SIZE" value="1029120" /> <input name="ufile[]" type="file" id="ufile[]" size="50" /></td> </tr> <tr> <th>Image 2:</th> <td><input type="hidden" name="MAX_FILE_SIZE" value="1029120" /> <input name="ufile[]" type="file" id="ufile[]" size="50" /></td> </tr> <tr> <th>Image 3:</th> <td><input type="hidden" name="MAX_FILE_SIZE" value="1029120" /> <input name="ufile[]" type="file" id="ufile[]" size="50" /></td> </tr> <tr> <th>Image 4:</th> <td><input type="hidden" name="MAX_FILE_SIZE" value="1029120" /> <input name="ufile[]" type="file" id="ufile[]" size="50" /><input type="submit" name="Submit" value="Upload" /></td> </tr> </table> </form> and here is the processing page <?php include("protect/password_protect.php"); error_reporting(E_ALL); include ("../includes/db_config.php"); $con = mysql_connect($db_hostname,$db_username,$db_password); @mysql_select_db($db_database) or die( "Unable to select database"); $path1= "../thumbnails/".$_FILES['ufile']['name'][0]; $path2= "../images/".$_FILES['ufile']['name'][1]; $path3= "../images/".$_FILES['ufile']['name'][2]; $path4= "../images/".$_FILES['ufile']['name'][3]; $path5= "../images/".$_FILES['ufile']['name'][4]; //copy file to where you want to store file copy($_FILES['ufile']['tmp_name'][0], $path1); copy($_FILES['ufile']['tmp_name'][1], $path2); copy($_FILES['ufile']['tmp_name'][2], $path3); copy($_FILES['ufile']['tmp_name'][3], $path4); copy($_FILES['ufile']['tmp_name'][4], $path5); ?> <html> <head> <title>Update Project Images</title> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../../project/backend/style.css" /> </head> <body> <table class="udip"> <tr> <th><? echo "<img src=\"$path1\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\">";?></th> <th><? echo "<img src=\"$path2\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\">";?></th> <th><? echo "<img src=\"$path3\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\">";?></th> <th><? echo "<img src=\"$path4\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\">";?></th> <th><? echo "<img src=\"$path5\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\">";?></th> </tr> <tr> <td><? echo "File Name :".$_FILES['ufile']['name'][0]."<BR/>";?></td> <td><? echo "File Name :".$_FILES['ufile']['name'][1]."<BR/>";?></td> <td><? echo "File Name :".$_FILES['ufile']['name'][2]."<BR/>";?></td> <td><? echo "File Name :".$_FILES['ufile']['name'][3]."<BR/>";?></td> <td><? echo "File Name :".$_FILES['ufile']['name'][4]."<BR/>";?></td> </tr> <tr> <td><?echo "File Size :".$_FILES['ufile']['size'][0]."<BR/>";?></td> <td><?echo "File Size :".$_FILES['ufile']['size'][1]."<BR/>";?></td> <td><?echo "File Size :".$_FILES['ufile']['size'][2]."<BR/>";?></td> <td><?echo "File Size :".$_FILES['ufile']['size'][3]."<BR/>";?></td> <td><?echo "File Size :".$_FILES['ufile']['size'][4]."<BR/>";?></td> </tr> <tr> <td><? echo "File Type :".$_FILES['ufile']['type'][0]."<BR/>";?></td> <td><? echo "File Type :".$_FILES['ufile']['type'][1]."<BR/>";?></td> <td><? echo "File Type :".$_FILES['ufile']['type'][2]."<BR/>";?></td> <td><? echo "File Type :".$_FILES['ufile']['type'][3]."<BR/>";?></td> <td><? echo "File Type :".$_FILES['ufile']['type'][4]."<BR/>";?></td> </tr> </table> </body> </html> <? $filesize1=$_FILES['ufile']['size'][0]; $filesize2=$_FILES['ufile']['size'][1]; $filesize3=$_FILES['ufile']['size'][2]; $filesize4=$_FILES['ufile']['size'][3]; $filesize5=$_FILES['ufile']['size'][4]; if($filesize1 && $filesize2 && $filesize3 && $filesize4 && $filesize5 != 0) { echo "We have recieved your files<p>"; } else { echo "Error in you images check and try again Database has been updated to blank images so no images will be shown on details page."; } $query = "UPDATE $db_table SET thumbnail = '".$_FILES['ufile']['name'][0]."', image1 = '".$_FILES['ufile']['name'][1]."', image2 = '".$_FILES['ufile']['name'][2]."', image3 = '".$_FILES['ufile']['name'][3]."', image4 = '".$_FILES['ufile']['name'][4]."' I've looked the web over for a long time and can't figure this one out. - Below is basic code that successfully checks MySQL for a match and displays result. I was debugging and forced the "height" and "width" to be 24 and 36 to make sure that wasn't the problem. That's good.. - I'd like to give the user ability to select width and height from a form.. and have it do an onchange this.form.submit so the form can be changing as fields are altered (thus the onchange interaction) - In a normal coding environment I've done this numerous times with no "Page cannot be displayed" problems. It would simply change one select-option value at a time til they get down the form and click submit... but in WordPress I'm having trouble making even ONE single onchange work! - I've implemented the plugins they offer which allows you to "copy+paste" your php code directly into their wysiwyg editor. That works with basic tests like my first bullet point above. - I've copied and pasted the wordpress url (including the little ?page_id=123) into the form "action" url... that didn't work... tried forcing it into an <option value=""> tag.. didn't work. I'm just not sure. I've obviously put xx's in place of private info.. Why does this form give me Page Cannot Be Displayed in WordPress every time? It won't do anything no matter how simple.. using onchange.. Code.. $con = mysql_connect("xxxx.xxxxxxx.com","xxxxxx","xxxxx"); if (!$con) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db("xxxxxx", $con); $myprodwidth=24; $myprodheight=36; $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM product_sizes WHERE prodwidth='$myprodwidth' and prodheight='$myprodheight'"); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo $row['prodprice']; } mysql_close($con); <form method="post" action=""> <select name="myheight" onchange="this.form.submit();"> <option selected="selected" value="">select height</option> <option value="xxxxxxxxx.com/wordpress/?page_id=199&height=36">36</option> <option value="xxxxxxxxx.com/wordpress/?page_id=199&height=36">48</option> </select> Man, I'm having a rough week with questions--if you're following at home.
