PHP - Define Which Option Is Selected Depending On Form Input

In DATABASE :- cktext table attribute "section" is varchar type.

BUT IT RETURN ME BLANK OUTPUT.

I'm just attempting to learn how PHP handles things and I can't quite wrap my head around how to apply Selected to the final Option and show the Traits for the Character based on the Selected Option.

I understand this might need POST, if it does, I would appreciate a bit of help on how I would set this up as POST since I didn't think a drop down required a submit button.

Not sure exactly where this problem is coming from, but php seems the most likely candidate to fix it.  My php loads, from a MySQL database, a list of names (students in a class) and a drop-down for each student with attendance options.  Based on the information in the database, the appropriate attendance option is selected (<option selected></option>).  Everything works fine on the initial page load. 

Next, I want to update the status, so I select a new option from the drop-down list and click submit.  The php code updates the database correctly, but the selected option (in HTML) is still the original one.  If I change the option to something different and submit again, I get the previously selected option (that I selected the first time) - in essence, the HTML is always one step behind the database.

I've attached the snippet of relevant code - again, I know that the code works when the page loads initially and that the database is getting updated correctly.  Any help or comments are appreciated.

I'm trying to create a dynamic option menu with one alert selected based on the first query to the db. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a form that contains 3 text fields and 7 populated lists (that are dependent on the choice of the previous lists).  When I post the information to MySQL and to my processing page, it posts the table "ids" instead of the selected option.

Hi all,

I have a html drop down menu and want to show the initially selected value as the one stored in the mysql database that a member selected.

I have 180+ rows in mysql that a member could have selected and would like to basically do this:

I could put this in every one of the rows it would be much better to have an if statement. As there are so many values I do not know where to begin.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Hi , how I can save something into form?
I mean , insert something in variable  and than insert it into value in the form so when i send the form the value will be send too.
I also want that it will be can not change.
for example :

what I am trying to accomplish is for the user to select the state they wish, hit submit. At this point another form should show asking which county based on the state they picked, then hit search.

At this point, I'm having an issue having the state variable being passed to the 2nd form also having the state they selected stay selected.

Been looking to see if anyone has published something like this.

I have a number of projects coming up which entail creating input form pages using PHP.  Some of these are quite large as to the number of entries, pages etc.. and the worst part is that I know in advance that they most likely will want to change/add to the form after I am done.

So rather than coding them physically in the code, I want to define the form elements in an array that I can store in a database/flat file and when the page loads, read from the array to construct the form output.

I don't have any issues with dealing with the database or even using arrays, but I have not been able to come up with an array setup that works.

Has anyone done this and would care to share the structure they used.

Everything that I find on the net is basically sites that want to host the form, but this will be in a non-Internet accessible site so that is not an option. 

I have a search function in php where the text characters are matched to characters in a tables field--- works perfectly....
I need to make the input box have a droplist of words from database, this is also easy for me to do. the problem here is there is no definitive value! the options list always outputs a blank in the url---

its supposed to search a matching value and then output the matching value to url...

I know that there is a way to this with javascript, but I don't know how it would work.  I am much more familiar with php so I figured I would ask here to see if anyone might have a good php solution.

I'm trying to have a form text field display depending on whether or not the user checks a specific box, but I'm not sure where to start.  I've searched around but I didn't find anything that would help.  Basically I want to have a checkbox that asks if the user would like to link their account to an email address.  If the checkbox is selected, a textbox will then appear on the page for them to enter an email address.  Can anyone point me in the right direction on where to start?  Thanks for your help.

Hello everyone, i'm kinda stuck here although i had this working before,  i don't know what's wrong here.

Basically i've got a form with a drop-down menu, that menu has 3 values, x,y and z. Now that form is working with post, sending me to the next page where i have a set of arrays and a echo which should print some text based on the option chosen from the drop down menu.

my code in the form is this:
