Greetings!

I would like to ask for you help sorting a couple of lists that are autogenerated with php.
The page reads a content of a folder and makes a menu from the names. The folder names a a, b, c, d... etc.

The other part reads the content of the selected folder and displays the files.

My problem is, that on windows, using xampp, the both the folders and files appear in alphabetic order (what I want), but on the linux server they get completely messed up.
Instead of a, b, its o, a, d, etc.
I tried using the sort() function but there is no array to sort...

ps. the server has php 4.3.9... does this matter? could help if we upgrade to 5.3?

I am working on a PHP web form and I have a combo box and I'm trying to sort the values in it.

The values in the combo box are filled using an arraylist:

$WeightArray = array('' => '',
    '0|100' => '100g or Less',
    '101|250' => '101g to 250g',
    '251|500' => '251g to 500g',
    '501|1000' => '501g to 1kg',
    '1000|2000' => '1kg to 2kg',
    '2000|3000' => '2kg to 3kg',
    '3000|4000' => '3kg to 4kg',
    '4000|5000' => '4kg to 5kg',
    '5000|6000' => '5kg to 6kg',
    '6000|7000' => '6kg to 7kg',
    '7000|8000' => '7kg to 8kg',
    '8000|9000' => '8kg to 9kg',
    '9000|10000' => '9kg to 10kg',
    'customValues' => 'Custom Values'
    );

The values get properly filled in the combo box. Thats fine. Its just that the values are not sorted the way I want them to. The Grams and Kilograms are all mixed. It should output in the order defined in the array.

See the ScreenShot I've taken and see the difference in the values defined and the output.

I tried few sorting methods like

ksort($WeightArray);
But still the same output.

Whats the good trick to sort values in Combo as per the array.

Variables pulled from MySQL.

$Last = $Last;
$Member = array($Last, $First);

This URL will sort by first name:
www.mysite.com?sort=First

...will sort by last name:
www.mysite.com?sort=Last

How do I get it to sort by the complete array value?
www.mysite.com?sort=Member
...not a valid MySQL result, obviously.

Say I have a table called artists with these fields (artistid, rank). Then say I have an array called $rankadjustments with a value for each artist (like 1, 7, 3,-3, 5, 9, etc). I am doing a MYSQL query that gets the info from artists table and sorts according to the rank field like this...

$sql = "SELECT * FROM artists ORDER BY rank";

Easy enough. But what if I would like to bring that data back sorted by (rank + rankadjustment). For example, if the artist ranked 1st had a rank of "1" from mysql, but had a rankadjustment of "5" from the rankadjustment array, his "true" rank would be "6". Again, rankadjustment is NOT a field in my table, otherwise it would obviously be simple. It's calculated on the fly and stored in an array. FYI, the array has an index with their "artistid". For example, $rankadjustment[341][8] would be the artist with an artistid of "341" has a rank adjustment of 8. Is there a way to do this IN the query itself? It doesn't seem possible but wanted to find out for sure. If not, what is best way to do? I assume... Get the data sorted JUST by rank and put it all into an array, then create a new array that adds rank to rankadjustment and reorder by the "new" rank amount? I guess that wouldn't be too bad but again, wanted to make sure I'm not missing something that would allow me to do it all in the query (or just more efficiently). Thanks!

My company has 240+ locations and as such some users (general managers) cover multiple sites. When I run a query to pull user information, when the user has multiple sites to his or her name, its adds the second / third sites to the next columns, rather than wrapping it inside the same table cell. It also works the opposite way, if a piece of data is missing in the database and is blank, its pull the following columns in. Both cases mess up the table and formatting. I'm extremely new to any kind of programming and maybe this isn't the forum for this question but figured I'd give it a chance since I'm stuck.

Just curious why this works:

}it puts $data[#'s] in the database fields instead of the actual data that '$data[0]','$data[1]'... relates to.

I wrote a script to create the values in $headdata_1 based on the number of headers in $csvheaders1 but can't seem to get it working in the sql statement.

I'm a first time poster here and I would really appreciate some guidance with my latest php challenge! I've spent the entire day googling and reading and to be honest I think I'm really over my head and need the assistance of someone experienced to advise the best way to go!

I have a multi dimensional array that looks like (see below); the array is created by CodeIgniter's database library (the rows returned from a select query) but I think this is a generic PHP question as opposed to having anything to do with CI because it related to working with arrays.

I'm wondering how I might go about searching the array below for the key problem_id and a value equal to a variable which I would provide. Then, when it finds an array with a the matching key and variable, it outputs the other values in that part of the array too.

For example, using the sample data below. How would you recommend that I search the array for all the arrays that have the key problem_id and the value 3 and then have it output the value of the key problem_update_date and the value of the key problem_update_text. Then keep searching to find the next occurrence?

I have a situation where I need to sort files on a screen based on the date that is embedded into the file name. The problem is that I am sorting based off the file name, and when I get my output the LEGACY file always comes out on top of the sort because it starts with a 0 meanwhile the rest have dates appended the the filename so I don't have a problem sorting those.

i need to sort my database results by the day they were added to the database. There is a column with the timestamp of when they were inserted but how do i group them by the day they were inserted so i can display them as such:

Hello. I have a multi dimensional array that needs to be sorted. Array top25 [index][product id][number_of_purchases]. The index will contain a unique number for each product id. First product will be 1, second product will be 2, etc. The product id will be a id number like 34324ac9a89. The number of purchases will be how many times the item has been purchased.

- End result: I want to print the 25 most purchased products in this format.

I currently present this using XSL but would like to move towards PHP.

I have some rudimentary code and it's working fine but I'd like to be able to sort by various values, such as First Name or telephone number.
