PHP - Php And Ie Explorer Problems

Hi, I have a problem with Internet Explorer converting spaces into underscores:

The problem occurs using PHPRtfLite.

When I run the script I want the file name to contain spaces, however in Internet Explorer these spaces are converted into underscores. This does not happen in ff, chrome, safari or opera.

Any help on how to fix this would be much appreciated as I am stuck. Thanks.

Hello everyone, I'm new here first post, but there's a weirdness in code that i need to share,

 First of all, I know everyone who knows PHP/MYSQL will say the same thing... Server side code cannot be broken by a browser, especially by client side coding. I agree!!! That may be the case here too, but I have encountered one of the weirdest code ever and the client side code is causing an unexpected result in PHP/MYSQL, and only in Internet Explorer. Unexplainable, and I am seeking for an answer.

After hours of trouble shooting I finally targeted the the trouble code... and it's CSS, and it's affecting a MYSQL line of code in PHP...

... anyways let me explain how the code should run and the problem... in one page a variable passed in the URL is being captured by PHP using the $_GET method, if that variable is empty PHP runs a code which updates a MYSQL database. That works fine, and as expected, except in INTERNET EXPLORER. On that same page, a css file which is to be included with the  output html to the browser contains the above line of css too. Now in every other browser that code works as expected, if the variable is NOT empty, update the database and then output the html code. In IE the database gets updated no matter what, whether the variable is empty of not. Now the its only the mysql code inside the IF statement that get affected, because for troubleshooting purposes I have put echo statements inside the code, to catch the problem, and the echo statements work as should, just not the mysql update statement.

Someone care to shed some light into this mystery?

Like many parents, I'm challenged with keeping my kids from browsing the evil parts of the internet. My son is 11 and my wife caught him deleting IE history the other day. The computer he uses is a Windows 8.1 laptop, and it is not Pro. How can i let him use internet explorer on his own user but keep him from tampering with any of the history ( or settings for that matter)?

Is there a better solution? I found some internet history logging software online, but I didn't feel comfortable with the source, and fear it may contain viruses or other malware.

I have plans in developing a connect function for remote login to my web side. I can't find any useful on Google.

Some idees on how to code a API connect button? Something similiar to Facebook connect, Twitter connect etc. BUT this should not rely on facebook api. I'm going to make my own stand alone api.

I know I need to use REST in backend, but I'm missing the knowledge to know how to send / recive the login data, and how to know when a user are online or not.

I'm greatfull for any help. Also links.

And also tips on how to make a developer plattform for apps, much like the way Facebook have it.

Alright I am having a few issues here. Let me explain what I am doing...this is a script that allows a customer to split an order..he can split certain items out of one order and it will create another order with the items he split added to this order, and then subtracting the items from the old order. The products are stored in one field called products, they are stored in a delimited list like this qty, product name, price each, product id | qty, product name, price each, product id |etc.

Now, before you say why are you storing your products like that?? The reason I have to store my products like so is because the customer does not want the products stored in the order table to be dependent off the products table like they were before. In that case if he modified a product it would modify all of the orders with that product stored in them. Make sense? I am aware a delimited list probably wasn't the best way to do this but it was the best way I could think of.

Ok here is my list of issues.
  1) Everytime you split an order, it is not creating a new order to store the items that were split into. It created an order the first time I did it, and now all it does is it keeps updating the products field in that order, rather than creating a new order.
  2) Next I do not know how I can update the old products (stored in the $prod array). It needs to update the products qtys after the order was split, and then if all of the qty for that product were moved to the new order it just needs to remove that product from the $prod array rather than updating the quantity.

I'm trying to either update my database if some data matches the if statement, or insert the data in a new row if it doesn't match (if possible).
The code will update the database just fine if the data matches, but if not, it won't insert the new data. (When I leave off the if statement it will insert just fine). I fear I'm not using the if...else correctly.

First
Since I first started learning PHP, I've been writing code for forms like this:

$name = $_POST["name"];

if ($name == "") {
echo "You didn't type anything";
}

I've written scripts like this and tested them on a GOdaddy server, and they always worked fine.

Now, after testing scripts like that on my own server (WAMP2 [PHP5, Mysql, Apache]), I get an error saying "Unidentified index: name", and so I have to nest that if statement AS WELL AS the variable assignment inside another if statement like this:

The error doesn't actually stop the script from running, but a medium sized box appears in the browser with the error message contained that's after the element in the document of which is getting an invalid error.

Which way is truly the correct way? Because now that I have to use the second way in order for my scripts to run correctly on my own server, I have to write more code and it all gets disorganized and more complicated to read.

So...is this a configuration thing that I can tweak in WAMP2 to stop messages like that from popping up? Or is the second way the way you're supposed to do it?

Also, I was wondering why ereg got deprecated and what the replacement of it is in PHP5? I've asked before and even googled it but I simply get taken to a "Pearl" function on PHP.net. I'm not sure what it is, or how to use it, and haven't got any hints from either PHP.net or anywhere else.

Any suggestions?

It seems the code below doesn't work properly. Even if there isn't a record that has the same username or name, it will say there is on in the database, which prevents them from making an account. Why so?

I'm trying to create a an admin backend page for a food truck website. They need to be able to update their menu on the page pretty frequently, so I created a page that would use
file_put_contents() to replace the text in an html file that I would display on the page in iframes, this would be the menu text. I have everything coded and working except
file_put_contents() will not work at all. I'm using Go Daddy hosting, and they said that I could create an .ini file turning whatever setting it is that controls file_put_contents(), but I have tried numerous setting and can't get anywhere. This is the php code I'm working with:

I'm not married to file_put_contents() or even this method so any suggestions at all I'm open to hearing. I've been working on this problem over a month now and I really need to get it figured out.  The idea is I just need to have a way for them to update their menu and I don't want to create a database or anything, just keep it as simple as possible.
