PHP - Forum Post Limitations
Hi, i am wanting to implement a post restriction on the forum im building where a new user can only post 10 posts per day and create 2 topics per day.
I have thought about the process but have become stuck. I am fine for checking if they have reached their post count for the day(just a simple +1 to the table when they post then query it before posting) but how would i reset the counter after the day is up? i have also done the bit that defines how long ago they registered. So if a user registered less than 1 week ago they are only permitted 10 posts and 2 topics per day. After the day ends they can post 10 more posts and 2 more topics(numbers are examples only). Then when they pass 1 week registered they can do anything. I just dont know how to reset the counter at the end of the day. As you can see, the post number ($postrow[$i]['post_id']) is passed via URL to the next page.. However how do I prevent people from simply editing the 'postNo=' variable to view posts which they may not have permission to view. I hope you follow me!! When click on submit, the _POST array doesn't get back the last value of the grand total. I need to hit the button twice to get the last value. The weird thing is when I echo the value of the grand total it display the latest value, but not with the POST array
For example. If the grand total is $10.00 and I click on submit. It will show the POST['grand_total'] as empty. If I click on submit again it will show the grand total of $10.00.

I'm learning PHP, and in the course of this, I'm writing a little app which posts to the same php file. HOWEVER, when I run the app again, the POST values remain. I can use unset() but, is there another way to clear POST data? RON

I have a series of post to post connections. In one function, the output is a list of the linked post to posts. Here is an example: function countryJob(){ global $post;

I want to create the same as above to create a list of the cites connected to a location (locations are the name for posts which are countries)

I am working on my own PHP project where I can build myself my own forum just like how this site functions.
I would like to have user accounts and when you log in have a list of bulletin topics that you can choose from and then post your own question or topic and then other users can go to your post and write answers to it. I know there are many forums out there that you can make and set up to use but I would like to have my own so I can customize it any way I want.
Could I get some ideas on where I should start with this. I have been working on a website with a login functionality and I almost have that set up, then my next steps will be making it so users will be able to post topics.
I been doing google research trying to get some tutorials on this but I haven’t found one that is much help. I will be using phpmyadmin database and I plan on writing my sql as mysqli.

Okay I am making a forum and it is almost finished. The only thing is, I am stuck on how to get the most updated topics to appear at the top of the list. Like on every forum there is a new forum post that you havent visited yet. They are at the top of the list. How would I do that??? Hello everybody, am a bit new here.
