PHP - Using Curl Or Other Method To Access Email Contacts
I have a PHP application and am trying to allow users to import contacts from their favorite email systems. Right now, I'm targeting yahoo, gmail and hotmail - facebook friends would also be interesting. I'll need to allow users to log in, of course, and then have all of their contacts pulled into my application. From there, I'll present them to the user and allow them to pick which ones they want to email about my application. The important part is that I need to have control over what happens to the contact list to control certain aspects of my application.
So, here are my questions: > Is CURL the right method to use to do this? > Are there practical examples available that I can use and where might I find them? > What things would I need to be aware of and prepare for regarding security/hacking since I'm accessing remote sites? Thanks for your guidance. Similar TutorialsI need to write a code were users can login to his/her email account from my site to import contacts to be selected and used. I know you need to use api's for this. Has anyone done this before who can give me some useful tips? This topic has been moved to Miscellaneous. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=321126.0 I have these two classes: Code: [Select] <?php class A { private $id; public function __construct() { $this->id = '11111'; } public function getProperty($prop) { return $this->$prop; } }?> Code: [Select] <?php class B extends A { private $message = "Nope, can't see it"; public function __construct() { parent::__construct(); $this->message = "Yep, I can see it"; } }?> I tried this, but it just outputs the id (the first call) Code: [Select] $class = new B; echo $class->getProperty('id'); echo $class->getProperty('message'); Why is that? I thought I could use a parent method on a child property.. *EDIT* Using a public or protected visibility on the message property gets me the output I expect...how come? My dad loves these frozen cheeseburgers from meijer so I was gonna write a little script I can run in cron that will check Meijer's website and txt or email or something if they go on sale. Whenever I run the below script I get an Access Denied response from the server instead of the html for the cheesburger page. I'm sure I just need a CURL option or something. Thank You in Advance
How does a web server, with a database connect to the emails it receives? How does the web server get the contents of the emails it receives so I can parse it? I don't know how to do it here(pass the method name to call). 2. For client authentication they gave us three certs, one root cert, one intermediate cert and a client authentication cert PROTPLUSSOL_SSOpem(it was a .pfx file). Since we are on linux we converted them to pem . In curl calls I could not find way to how to include both the root cert and the intermediate cert ,so I combined them by making a new pem file and copying the intermediate cert and them the root cert and naming it authority.pem . I am not sure whether it works or not and would like your opinion. 3. For the current code Iam getting the error Error no : 77 Curl error: error setting certificate verify locations: CAfile: /home/pps/authority.pem CApath: /home/pps/ If I disable the curl error message,I am getting blank page with page title 403 - Forbidden. Access is denied. If I comment out the CURLOPT_CAPATH and CURLOPT_CAINFO lines it gives http 500 error page with the message as content and the following at the top. > HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error. So I would request you to help me out by pointing out whats wrong with the current code. Thank you. I am sitting behind a firewall which blocks the http access to all popular free email providers like hotmail.com gmail.com .... The blocking is done by filtering out the domain names. So I am searching for a way to access the mailbox by a third domain e.g. mydomain123.com (which is under my control). I could imagine that there is a PHP code which can be setup on mydomain123.com which accesses the final hotmail.com mailbox by using POP3 fetches and SMTP sends. Is there such an PHP intermediate code? Peter Good morning I am trying to add an "add to contacts" button to the user profile page that is viewed by other users but I seem to be struggling to wrap my head around this one. I can create the search user page that populates a list of users based on search criteria and link to their respective profiles using GET. But now if I have a "add to contacts" button on their profile page, I am struggling with the code to insert this into a contacts table correctly. If the contacts table has a id column, user_id column and contacts_id column how do I insert the id of the user you are viewing into the contacts_id column? I should have something along these lines....: Code: [Select] if (isset($_SESSION['user_id'])) $user_id = ($_POST['user_id']); $sql_insert = "INSERT into `contacts` (`user_id`,`id`,`date`) VALUES ('".$_SESSION['user_id']."','$id',now())"; mysql_query($sql_insert,$link) or die("Insertion Failed:" . mysql_error()); $user_id = mysql_insert_id($link); but that is not going to add the id as contact id for the profile being viewed. Should this be done totally differently? Any help in this regard would be highly appreciated. Apologies if I have not explained properly. Thank you I am writing a google contact API to get users contacts, I get everything back except for the email address of the contact. Anyone know how to get the contacts email address? I am trying to get strings from txt file with a start and an end.
$file = "/var/www/html/sataxicrm/custom/include/language/lang.en_us.lists.php"; $content = file_get_contents($file); $pos = strpos($content,"query_complaint_type_list"); $end = strpos($content,"status_0"); $string = substr($content,$pos,($end- $pos)); $array = nl2br($string); //print $content; echo "Database Value:Label Value <br>"; print $array;
The above code works well if you knowwhat your end string is, but in my case i do not know. i only know the start. As you can see i know it starts with account_type_dom but i do not know that it will end before industry_dom. so i need to stop before industry_dom. how do i do this? Quote

good day dear community, i am workin on a Curl loop to fetch multiple pages: i have some examples - and a question: Example: If we want to get information from 3 sites with CURL we can do it like so: $list[1] = "http://www.example1.com"; $list[2] = "ftp://example.com"; $list[3] = "http://www.example2.com"; After creating the list of links we should initialize the cURL multi handle and adding the cURL handles. $curlHandle = curl_multi_init(); for ($i = 1;$i <= 3; $i++) $curl[$i] = addHandle($curlHandle,$list[$i]); Now we should execute the cURL multi handle retrive the content from the sub handles that we added to the cURL multi handle. ExecHandle($curlHandle); for ($i = 1;$i <= 3; $i++) { $text[$i] = curl_multi_getcontent ($curl[$i]); echo $text[$i]; } In the end we should release the handles from the cURL multi handle by calling curl_multi_remove_handle and close the cURL multi handle! If we want to another Fetch of sites with cURL-Multi - since this is the most pretty way to do it! Well I am not sure bout the string concatenation. How to do it - Note I want to fetch several hundred pages: see the some details for this target-server sites - /(I have to create a loop over several hundred sites). * siteone.example/?show_subsite=9009 * siteone.example/?show_subsite=9742 * siteone.example/?show_subsite=9871 .... and so on and so forth Question: How to appy this loop into the array of the curl-multi? <?php /************************************\ * Multi interface in PHP with curl * * Requires PHP 5.0, Apache 2.0 and * * Curl * ************************************* * Writen By Cyborg 19671897 * * Bugfixed by Jeremy Ellman * \***********************************/ $urls = array( "siteone", "sitetwo", "sitethree" ); $mh = curl_multi_init(); foreach ($urls as $i => $url) { $conn[$i]=curl_init($url); curl_setopt($conn[$i],CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER,1);//return data as string curl_setopt($conn[$i],CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION,1);//follow redirects curl_setopt($conn[$i],CURLOPT_MAXREDIRS,2);//maximum redirects curl_setopt($conn[$i],CURLOPT_CONNECTTIMEOUT,10);//timeout curl_multi_add_handle ($mh,$conn[$i]); } do { $n=curl_multi_exec($mh,$active); } while ($active); foreach ($urls as $i => $url) { $res[$i]=curl_multi_getcontent($conn[$i]); curl_multi_remove_handle($mh,$conn[$i]); curl_close($conn[$i]); } curl_multi_close($mh); print_r($res); ?> I look forward to your ideas.
My script has 3 classes (that are relevant to this discussion): DB, User and Validate. They are all in independent files and loaded automatically, when required, by an autoloader.
The error messages I am getting a Any pointers as to what I am doing wrong, or what I should be doing, would be most welcome. i wanting users to be able to update there email address and check to see if the new email already exists. if the email is the same as current email ignore the check. i have no errors showing up but if I enter a email already in the db it still accepts the new email instead of bringing the back the error message.
