PHP - How To Work With Massive Data Files
I am developing a database app for a client who needs to import hundreds of thousands of codes into the DB to check against. The codes are in 4 text files about 30MB each.
The codes are 3 per line, then a line break, and 3 more. Ive written a script to parse out the line breaks, turn the data into an array, then loop over thay array and insert into the DB. The problem is these scripts take minutes to run using file_get_contents and by the time the data is ready the mmysql connection is gone. Plus even these files only work after Ive cut the files into about 1MB each, so each file is 30 smaller ones. Is there a way to just put the text file on the server, and have php search it using a GREP like function that won't be such a burden to work with. Any advice helps. Do you suggest to store them in xml as file1.xml: <title>TITLE</title> <content>CONTENT</content> or file1.php: $title="TITLE"; $content="CONTENT"; AND is it better to create separate file for each article or storing all data in one single file? Hi there, I have a form submitting to a mysql database. It was requested that I put a multiple file upload option on it. So I added the fields to the form and the database and added the upload script to the form processing file (and of course created the folder on the server with proper permissions to upload to). It should upload the file(s) to the folder on the server and insert the filename into the database. I keep getting: HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfill the request. This leads me to believe the upload script isn't working properly. If someone could take a look at it I would be a very happy guy. This is the upload script: (insert.php) Code: [Select] <?php $con = mysql_connect("server","user","pass"); if (!$con) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db("db", $con); $dateSubmitted = date("Y-m-d"); $target = "attachments/"; $target = $target . basename( $_FILES['doc1']['name']); $target = $target . basename( $_FILES['doc2']['name']); $target = $target . basename( $_FILES['doc3']['name']); $target = $target . basename( $_FILES['doc4']['name']); $target = $target . basename( $_FILES['doc5']['name']); $sql="INSERT INTO investments (active, project, inv_amount, account_type, prefix, first_name, last_name, address1, address2, city, province, postal_code, country, phone, email, referral_fee, ref_agent, ship_name, ship_address, ship_city, ship_province, ship_postal, ship_country, notes, dateSubmitted, doc1, doc2, doc3, doc4, doc5) VALUES ('$_POST[active]','$_POST[account_type]','$_POST[project]','$_POST[inv_amount]','$_POST[prefix]','$_POST[prefix]','$_POST[first_name]','$_POST[last_name]','$_POST[address1]', '$_POST[address2]','$_POST[city]','$_POST[province]','$_POST[postal_code]','$_POST[country]','$_POST[phone]','$_POST[email]','$_POST[referral_fee]','$_POST[ref_agent]','$_POST[ship_name]','$_POST[ship_address]','$_POST[ship_city]','$_POST[ship_province]','$_POST[ship_postal]','$_POST[ship_country]','$_POST[notes]','$_POST[dateSubmitted]',$_FILES['doc1']['name'],$_FILES['doc2']['name'],$_FILES['doc3']['name'],$_FILES['doc4']['name'],$_FILES['doc5']['name'])"; //Writes the photo to the server if(move_uploaded_file($_FILES['doc1']['tmp_name'], $target)) if(move_uploaded_file($_FILES['doc2']['tmp_name'], $target)) if(move_uploaded_file($_FILES['doc3']['tmp_name'], $target)) if(move_uploaded_file($_FILES['doc4']['tmp_name'], $target)) if(move_uploaded_file($_FILES['doc5']['tmp_name'], $target)) { //Tells you if its all ok echo "The file ". basename( $_FILES['uploadedfile']['name']). Is there a code library out there that can read the exif data from image files, without the use of the php exif extension? I have a Windows hosting package and am noticing that several hosts don't (and won't) enable the exif extension for PHP for some reason. I need Windows for one of my sites which requires MS SQL access, so I can't use a Unix/Linux host because of that. But all of them support PHP on Windows.
Suggestions?
Hello I have a simple question about file handling... Is it possible to list all files in directories / subdirectories, and then read ALL files in those dirs, and put the content of their file into an array? Like this: array: [SomePath/test.php] = "All In this php file is being read by a new smart function!"; [SomePath/Weird/hello.txt = "Hello world. This is me and im just trying to get some help!";and so on, until no further files exists in that rootdir. All my attempts went totally crazy and none of them works... therefore i need to ask you for help. Do you have any ideas how to do this? If so, how can I be able to do it? Thanks in Advance, pros So far I have managed to create an upload process which uploads a picture, updates the database on file location and then tries to upload the db a 2nd time to update the Thumbnails file location (i tried updating the thumbnails location in one go and for some reason this causes failure) But the main problem is that it doesn't upload some files Here is my upload.php <?php include 'dbconnect.php'; $statusMsg = ''; $Title = $conn -> real_escape_string($_POST['Title']) ; $BodyText = $conn -> real_escape_string($_POST['ThreadBody']) ; // File upload path $targetDir = "upload/"; $fileName = basename($_FILES["file"]["name"]); $targetFilePath = $targetDir . $fileName; $fileType = pathinfo($targetFilePath,PATHINFO_EXTENSION); $Thumbnail = "upload/Thumbnails/'$fileName'"; if(isset($_POST["submit"]) && !empty($_FILES["file"]["name"])){ // Allow certain file formats $allowTypes = array('jpg','png','jpeg','gif','pdf', "webm", "mp4"); if(in_array($fileType, $allowTypes)){ // Upload file to server if(move_uploaded_file($_FILES["file"]["tmp_name"], $targetFilePath)){ // Insert image file name into database $insert = $conn->query("INSERT into Threads (Title, ThreadBody, filename) VALUES ('$Title', '$BodyText', '$fileName')"); if($insert){ $statusMsg = "The file ".$fileName. " has been uploaded successfully."; $targetFilePathArg = escapeshellarg($targetFilePath); $output=null; $retval=null; //exec("convert $targetFilePathArg -resize 300x200 ./upload/Thumbnails/'$fileName'", $output, $retval); exec("convert $targetFilePathArg -resize 200x200 $Thumbnail", $output, $retval); echo "REturned with status $retval and output:\n" ; if ($retval == null) { echo "Retval is null\n" ; echo "Thumbnail equals $Thumbnail\n" ; } }else{ $statusMsg = "File upload failed, please try again."; } }else{ $statusMsg = "Sorry, there was an error uploading your file."; } }else{ $statusMsg = 'Sorry, only JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, mp4, webm & PDF files are allowed to upload.'; } }else{ $statusMsg = 'Please select a file to upload.'; } //Update SQL db by setting the thumbnail column to equal $Thumbnail $update = $conn->query("update Threads set thumbnail = '$Thumbnail' where filename = '$fileName'"); if($update){ $statusMsg = "Updated the thumbnail to sql correctly."; echo $statusMsg ; } else { echo "\n Failed to update Thumbnail. Thumbnail equals $Thumbnail" ; } // Display status message echo $statusMsg; ?> And this does work on most files however it is not working on a 9.9mb png file which is named "test.png" I tested on another 3.3 mb gif file and that failed too? For some reason it returns the following Updated the thumbnail to sql correctly.Updated the thumbnail to sql correctly. Whereas on the files it works on it returns REturned with status 0 and output: Retval is null Thumbnail equals upload/Thumbnails/'rainbow-trh-stache.gif' Failed to update Thumbnail. Thumbnail equals upload/Thumbnails/'rainbow-trh-stache.gif'The file rainbow-trh-stache.gif has been uploaded successfully. Any idea on why this is? I am using WPSQT plugin in my blog site .I code some files in PHP also.how to add that files in plugin files.
Hi Im plotting a graph using JPGraph. The first plotted line uses $data as its source. It works like a charm, I collect the data from a MySql database. However, now I want to plot a new line. I want that line to use the same data but I want to add each value to the value before and so on. This is my code that dosent work. Code: [Select] while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $data[] = $row['EF0000000DBBDD1D']*6/1000; $data1[] = strtotime($row['DATETIME']); $data2[] = $data2 + $data; } echo "-----------------------------"; print_r ($data); print_r ($data2); The result Im looking for is this: Code: [Select] $data = 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2..... $data2 = 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14....... I thought that this should be easy but I just cant seem to find the answer. Any help is appreciated. This one requires lots of up front information: I have a page, for this example that I will call page.php. It takes get parameters, and for this example I'll call the parameter "step". So I have a URL like this: page.php?step=1 This page has a form with an action of page.php?step=1. The code on the page validates the posting information. If the information is bad, it returns the user to page.php?step=1; if it is good, it takes the user to page.php?step=2 via header( "location:page.php?step=2" ). So redirection is done by relative path, not full URLs. This all works as expected. Now what I've done is set .htaccess to be HTTPS for this page, via this code: # Turn SSL on for payments RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} \/page\.php [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://%{HTTP_HOST}/$1 [R=301,L] This works (initially). However, once you try to post the form, it just redirects back to the step=1 version of the page. I really don't know how or why that would be. I'm not sure how else I can explain this or what other information you may have. But it's frustrating to not get a page working in HTTPS that works in HTTP. Very odd. Any suggestions? (I don't even really know the best location to figure out when/why it's redirecting back to the original page.)
