PHP - Dates Headache :-(
Hi all,
I am having bit of a headache in trying to achieve what I want! Basically I have a date coming into the script as this format: Tue May 24 18:51:38 +0000 2011 These are the steps I wish to do an not quite sure how! 1. Make date read: May 24 2011 2. Add 6 Months to date and store as new variable For part 2 I am guessing I can do something like: Code: [Select] <?php $futuredate = strtotime('+6 months', $date) ?>; But part one is stumping me! Thanks Similar TutorialsHi All, I need to subtract dates and display the number of days left. I have a 'Start' date and an 'End' date in DATETIME format in the DB. Not quite sure where to start. A simply start - end doesn't work . Start = 2011-11-01-00:00:00 End = 2011-11-30-23:59:59 Since it is now 2011-11-27, my output should equal 3. Any help is appreciated. Hi guys, I am trying to do a multidates events availability calender. The script below indicates todays date by highlighting an orange colour and also indicates the start and end date of the event highlighting grey colour on the two dates (The colour are link via css classes as shown). Code: [Select] //Today's date $todaysDate = date("d/m/Y"); $dateToCompare = $daystring . '/' . $monthstring . '/' . $year; echo "<td align='center' "; if($todaysDate == $dateToCompare){ echo "class='today'"; }else{ //Compare's the event dates $sqlcount = "select event_start,event_end from b_calender where event_start ='".$dateToCompare."' AND event_end='".$dateToCompare."'"; $noOfEvent = mysql_num_rows(mysql_query($sqlcount)); if($noOfEvent >= 1){ echo "class='event'"; } } It works ok i.e. if start date = 01/01/2012 and end date = 04/01/2012 both date will be highlighted with grey colour. However I want it to also highlight grey on the dates between the 1st and 4th to show that then anydates between the 1st and 4th are not available and this is when I'm stuck. Please guys I need help. Thanks Hi All,
I seem to be getting in a right mess with this, so hope someone can help.
I'm simply trying to set a cookie called 'defaultLanguage'.
It will initially be set to English and when someone completes a form, the form value is then passed and used in the cookie.
here's my code:
$cookie_name = 'defaultLanguage'; $cookie_value = $_GET["language"]; if ($cookie_value == ''){ $cookie_value = 'English'; }else{ $cookie_value = $_GET["language"]; } setcookie($cookie_name, $cookie_value, time() + (86400 * 30), '/'); // 86400 = 1 dayI then use this to test/check: $cookie_name = 'defaultLanguage'; if(!isset($_COOKIE[$cookie_name])) { print 'Cookie with name "' . $cookie_name . '" does not exist...'; } else { print 'Cookie with name "' . $cookie_name . '" value is: ' . $_COOKIE[$cookie_name]; }If I clear my browser cookies, this is what happens: On initial page load it says: Cookie with name "defaultLanguage" does not exist... If I reload the page or move to another, it says: Cookie with name "defaultLanguage" value is: English If I then complete my form, ?language=French is added to the URL, however, it still says: Cookie with name "defaultLanguage" value is: English I think I' missing something obvious but can't see for looking!! Any help is much appreciated Hi All, I am trying to convert HTMLentities style encoding, to UTF decimal encoding. I.e. int the text: U+001D 1d <control><br /> U+007D } 7d RIGHT CURLY BRACKET<br /> U+00A2 ¢ c2 a2 CENT SIGN<br /> I want the ¢ to be its UTF decimal equivalent. that make sense?? Basically, i'm parsing text for an epub and it wont accept special characters in the html entities form - only the decimal form. Rubbish eh? The entire test text i am using is this (there is some HTML in there you see that i DO NOT want converting - basically only things between the &.. I'm trying to create my own search function for users to search for events between certain dates. One option I have is 'within next 7 days'. So, within the SQL function I am searching "... WHERE eventdate between $from and $to.." The $from variable I figured would be $from = date('d-m-Y',time()); (ie- todays date)... but how would I find the date in 7 days?. I've seen strtotime mentioned about the web but can't figure how this applies. Any help would be marvelous! Cheers, Paddyfields. I've had to rearrange a lot of code and I've been trying to put together a prepared statement in a registration form. I'm having a really hard time and being very new to PHP the issue is really confusing for me. first, I have this function: //PROCESS DB function process_database($post) { global $table; global $conn; //THIS FUCKING THING IS DRIVING ME //check database connection if ($conn->connect_error) { return false; } else { if($statement = $conn->prepare("INSERT INTO $table (username, email, password) VALUES ( ?, ?, ? )")){ $username = $post['username']; $email = $post['email']; $password = $post['password']; $statement->bind_param("sss", $username, $email, $password); $statement->execute(); //DEBUGGING echo "Added: ".$username.", ".$email.", ".$password."<br>"; if(!$statement->execute()){ printf("Connect Failed: %s\n", $conn->connect_error); } else { echo 'fuckin ay!!!'; } //END DEBUG BLOCK } else { return false; } } return true; } The issue is very strange. I'll post the function call so it's clear: //process database actions if (!process_database($data) ) { return array( 'status' => 0, 'message' => 'Unable to process database request' ); } When I run the registration.py without process_database() everything is fine, so I'm confident in the error processing. Here's where it get weird - when I process the form Quoteecho "Added: ".$username.", ".$email.", ".$password."<br>"; is returned from the //DEBUGGING BLOCK but I also get back the error from the following if statement - "Connection Failed: ...." BUT I also get back the registration successful message that only shows if the function returns true In short, it's giving me 2 positive affirmations but also the Connection failed message and of course it's not adding anything to the database. I've been working this function all day, and I'm lost for answers. What's going on with this code? I can't see where I've gone wrong Edited July 1 by TechnoDiveri Have this Form
<form action="action_page.php" method="POST"> <div class="form-group"> <label for="email">Email address:</label> <input type="email" class="form-control" id="email"> </div> <div class="form-group"> <label for="pwd">Password:</label> <input type="password" class="form-control" id="pwd"> </div> <div class="checkbox"> <label><input type="checkbox"> Remember me</label> </div> <button type="submit" class="btn btn-default">Submit</button> </form>
And im trying to pass the information into a USER class and print out the result in a action_page.php.
<?php class User { private $password; private $emailAddress; function __construct() { $this->emailAddress = isset($_POST['email']) ? $_POST['email'] : null; $this->password = isset($_POST['pwd']) ? $_POST['pwd'] : null; } function start() { if (empty($this->password) || empty($this->emailAddress)) { throw new Exception("Empty Post not allowed"); } else { echo " Registration Done"; } } }
$register = new User(); if(!empty($_POST)) { $register->start(); }
Then in my action page i try to refernence the Object with
?php include "User.php"; $user = new User(); try { $user->start(); } catch (Exception $e) { echo "Cannot Find account"; }
but it never can do it ? Anyone any ideas ??

" was successfully uploaded and stored.<br>"; else $res = "Could not move ".$fname['tmp_name']." to ".$uploadfile."<br>"; } else $res = "File ".$fname['name']." failed to upload."; return ($res); } ?> <?php if ($_FILES['picture']['name'] != "") { $res = UploadOne($_FILES['picture']); $filname = $_FILES['picture']['name']; $filname=addslashes($filname); ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// $alt_file_name = "NaijaMp3_" .$filname ; $date_created=date("Y-m-d h:i:A"); include("includes/db_connect.php"); $sql="INSERT INTO upmp3(uname,file_name,alt_file_name,file_size,artiste,title,genre,date_created) VALUES('$uname','$filname','$alt_file_name','$file_size','$artiste','$title','$genre','$date_created')"; mysql_query($sql) or die (mysql_error()); $message="Upload Sucessful"; ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// echo ($res); } } ?> <div class="main_but"> </div> </div> <!-- Navigation begins here --> <!-- Header section ends here --></div> <div class="login"> </div> <div id="feature"> <blockquote/> <div align="center"><em><strong>UPLOAD FILE </strong></em></div> <form action="upload.php" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data" name="form1" id="form1"> <p> <br /> </p> <p>{Note: All * fields are Mandatory} </p> <p> <label> <input name="picture" type="file" id="picture" /> </label> </p> <p>File Type <label> <select name="type" id="type"> <option value="mp3">mp3</option> </select> </label> </p> <p>Artiste*<span class="style1"><sub>(e.g Alashine)</sub></span> <label> <input name="artiste" type="text" id="artiste" /> </label> Title <label> <input name="title" type="text" id="title" /><span class="style1"> </label> <p>Genre <label><input name="genre" type="text" id="genre" />(Genre e.g Hiphop, RnB, Reggae . . .)</span></label> <input type='hidden' name='id' value='<?php echo"$id" ?>' id='id'/> <input type='hidden' name='uname' value='<?php echo"$uname" ?>' id='uname'/> <label></label> </p> </p> <p> <label> <input name="Upload" type="submit" id="Upload" value="Upload Mp3" /> </label> </p> </form> </div> </div> <?php include("includes/footer.php"); ?> </div> Thanks for your help in anticipation Hi there I'm trying to insert audi files' records into mysql database this is how the records insertion looks like: Code: [Select] $fileName = $_FILES['uploaded']['name'];//name $tmpName = $_FILES['uploaded']['tmp_name'];//temp location $fileSize = $_FILES['uploaded']['size'];//size of the file $fileType = $_FILES['uploaded']['type'];//type of file $error = $_FILES['uploaded']['error'];//verifys errprs $ext = substr($fileName, strrpos($fileName, '.') +1); //this will get the extention out of the file name e.g. .mp3 //check that a file is passed by and no errors if(isset($fileName) && $error == 0 && $fileSize != 0){ //condition to accept only certain file types/extentions if($ext == "mp3" || $ext == "wma" || $ext == "wav"){ //get file content $fp = fopen($tmpName, 'r'); $content = fread($fp, filesize($tmpName)); $content = addslashes($content); fclose($fp); if(!get_magic_quotes_gpc()) { $fileName = addslashes($fileName); } //query to retrieve user's id $userid = mysql_query("select userID from user where username = '$username'"); //to get id by username $row = mysql_fetch_assoc($userid); $userid = $row['userID']; $query = "INSERT INTO tracks (trackName, userID, tag, price, file, fileName, fileSize, fileType) VALUES ('$tname','$userid','$tag','$price','$content','$fileName','$fileSize' , '$fileType)"; mysql_query($query) or die (mysql_error()); when i send it i get this error: Unknown column 'application' in 'field list' i did set data type for the fileType field to varchar. when i remove the fileType all together the record is inserted successfully into database though. ?!! can anyone help please i want to created a case like the following need help with the syntax: Code: [Select] switch (true) { case($fromdate-$todate==17-04-2001-25-04-2011): echo $finalprice = $result; break; } Hi guys, I am trying to create a program which manages campaigns. each campaign has a start date and and end date. a user has to enter data releated to the campaign everyday example start date: 10-1-2011 end date: 17-1-2011 now all this information is stored in 2 tables 1st table is "campaigns" this stores the campaign name, start date and end date and 2nd table is "campaign_data" this table stored the data for each campaign and also date of when that data was entered my question is, if the user did not enter data on 11-1-2011 how will I know this, keeping in mind the month diffrence which can accur if the length of the campign was 2 month long? table: campaigns fields: id | campaign_name | start_date | end_date table: campaign_data fields: id | campaign_id | date | page Thank you Hey guys, What I'm trying to do is set 2 dates. Today's date and then a date 14 days from now. However, I want it to increase the month if by adding 14 days will bring me to the next month, same with the year. I have this, but it doesn't increment the month or year. $week = mktime(11, 59, 59, date("m"), date("d")+14, date("y")); $date = date("Y-m-d H:i:s", $week); Hey, I have just recently coded a forum and my topics are ordered by date. This means if there is a topic at 4pm and then there is another topic made at 4:01pm the topic which was posted at 4:01pm will be listed at the top. I know how to add timezones but there is bit of a problem, if person from the UK posts a topic and his/hers timezone is set to: date_default_timezone_set('Europe/London');() this means the time at which the topic was posted will be 20:36pm (Just a randome time example). However if someone posted a topic from america/los_angeles one hour before the one above his/her time will be 11:36 am. Even though this topic was posted one hour before the UK post. The UK topic will override it because it is 8:36pm. In fact, all UK topics will show up at the top and all the america/los_angeles topics will show bellow. How do I slove this problem? I just don't get it even tough I looked online. Please help, thanks. Hi, So I only want my users to be able to perform certain tasks each 12 hours. This is the code I use: Code: [Select] function canVote($ip, $vote_id, $updateTimer = true){ $time = date("Y-m-d H:i:s"); $this->CI->db->where('vote_id', $vote_id); $this->CI->db->where('user_ip', $ip); $this->CI->db->from('votes_voters'); $count = $this->CI->db->count_all_results(); /*$count = $this->CI->db ->where('vote_id =', $vote_id) ->where('user_ip =', $ip) ->from('votes_voters') -count_all_results();*/ $row = $this->CI->db ->where('vote_id =', $vote_id) ->where('user_ip =', $ip) ->get('votes_voters') ->row(); if($count == 0){ $data = array( 'vote_id' => $vote_id, 'user_ip' => $ip, 'last_vote' => $time ); $this->CI->db->insert('votes_voters', $data); return true; } else{ $last_vote = $row->last_vote; if($last_vote + strtotime("12 hours") < $time){ return false; } else{ if($updateTimer = true){ $data = array( 'last_vote' => $time, ); $this->CI->db->where('vote_id', $vote_id); $this->CI->db->where('user_ip', $ip); $this->CI->db->update('votes_voters', $data); } return true; } } } Apparently the failing bit is this: Code: [Select] if($last_vote + strtotime("12 hours") < $time){ return false; } I believe you can guess what I'm trying to do here, if variable 1 + 12 hours is smaller than variable 2, then return false. Any help is much appreciated. Been a while since I hit a snag but have a new one! I have hit the old problem that I need to be able to input dates pre 13th December 1901 which appears to not work when using strtotime <?php echo date("F j, Y ", strtotime($row_seasonview['season_start'])); ?> Following a bit of googling it seemed that the alternative was to set the format in the query Code: [Select] SELECT *, DATE_FORMAT(`season_start`,'%D %M %Y') AS startdate, DATE_FORMAT(`season_end`,'%D %M %Y') AS enddate FROM seasons WHERE season_id = %sand to call the date from that <?php echo $row_seasonview['startdate']; ?> but this just comes back with 'Query was empty'. If I remove the two DATE_FORMAT lines the query runs fine. I know there must be a way round this but cannot fathom it out. Any suggestions would be greatfully welcomed!!! Thanks in advance Steve so i have a basic html table and down the left column i have monday,tuesday,wednesday.... sunday. In the column 2nd from the left, i want to fill it with the current weeks dates, which is really based on the current date. So if today is Jul 29th Friday, then strtotime("last monday") would give me Jul 26th Monday... my issue is "last monday" wont work if today is monday because that will give me 19th of july... and since I technically dont know what day is today i'm not sure how to cleanly work around this without having to use some if statement... if today is monday do "last monday +7 days" or just do "now" etc... Thanks! Hi, I'm trying to get the date, using this code <?php include('config.php'); $today = date('Y-m-d 00:00:00'); $nineyesterday = date('Y-m-d H:i:s', mktime(date("H") - (date("H") + 6), date("i") - date("i"), date("s") - date("s"), date("m") , date("d"), date("Y"))); $now = date('Y-m-d H:i:s'); $nineam = date('Y-m-d 9:00:00'); $ninepm = date('Y-m-d 18:00:00'); if ((strtotime($now) >= strtotime($today)) && (strtotime($now) <= strtotime($nineam))) { //count the answers by yes or no $q = "SELECT opt, count(opt) FROM plus_poll_ans WHERE date<='".$nineyesterday."' AND date>='".$nineam."' GROUP BY opt desc "; } elseif ((strtotime($now) >= strtotime($nineam)) && (strtotime($now) <= strtotime($ninepm))) { //count the answers by yes or no $q = "SELECT opt, count(opt) FROM plus_poll_ans WHERE date<'".$nineam."' AND date>='".$ninepm."' GROUP BY opt desc "; } $q = mysql_query($q) or die(mysql_error()); //separate the results while($row = mysql_fetch_array($q)) { $total_opt[] = $row['count(opt)']; } mysql_freeresult($q); $yes = intval($total_opt[0]); $no = intval($total_opt[1]); $total = $yes + $no; echo $total."<br/>"; echo $yes."<br/>"; echo $no."<br/>"; ?> but it didn't work, why isn't it working? Thanks Code: [Select] <?php $date = date('Y-m-d'); $strtime = strtotime('today +14 days'); $strtime = date('Y-m-d', $strtime); if ($distributor != 1) { $select = "SELECT deal_data.headline AS headline FROM deal_data WHERE str_to_date(deal_data.end_date,'%Y/%m/%d') BETWEEN str_to_date('" . $date . "', '%Y/%m/%d') and str_to_date('" . $strtime . "', '%Y/%m/%d')"; }else { $select = "SELECT deal_data.headline AS headline FROM deal_data WHERE str_to_date(deal_data.end_date,'%d.%m.%Y') BETWEEN '" . $date . "' and '" . $strtime . "'"; } ?> The dates are formatted in the database as Varchar (I don't do that anymore, this is an old project) and are formatted as: "09/12/2010". Anything wrong with the above code that would make it not work and return queries? I was just wondering if anyone can reccomend the best way to get dates from a database and turn them into dates you can display. For example if you have a date stored such as 23/08/10, is there an easy way to turn this into 23rd August 2010? Thanks for any help. |
