PHP - Mysql Query/drop Down Selected
I've got a HTML drop down box as similar to this:
<select name="dropdown"> <option>Option 1</option> <option>Option 2</option> <option>Option 3</option> </select> If I run a mysql query and get a result of "Option 3", is there anyway using PHP to give Option 3 the selected value? Similar TutorialsHi all I need to combine these two scripts: Firstly, the following decides which out of the following list is selected based on its value in the mySQL table: <select name="pack_choice"> <option value="Meters / Pack"<?php echo (($result['pack_choice']=="Meters / Pack") ? ' selected="selected"':'') ?>>Meters / Pack (m2)</option> <option value="m3"<?php echo (($result['pack_choice']=="m3") ? ' selected="selected"':'') ?>>Meters / Pack (m3)</option> <option value="Quantity"<?php echo (($result['pack_choice']=="Quantity") ? ' selected="selected"':'') ?>>Quantity</option> </select> Although this works OK, I need it also to show dynamic values like this: select name="category"> <?php $listCategories=mysql_query("SELECT * FROM `product_categories` ORDER BY id ASC"); while($categoryReturned=mysql_fetch_array($listCategories)) { echo "<option value=\"".$categoryReturned['name']."\">".$categoryReturned['name']."</option>"; } ?> </select> I'm not sure if this is possible? Many thanks for your help. Pete I'm restarting this under a new subject b/c I learned some things after I initially posted and the subject heading is no longer accurate. What would cause this behavior - when I populate session vars from a MYSQL query, they stick, if I populate them from an MSSQL query, they drop. It doesn't matter if I get to the next page using a header redirect or a form submit. I have two session vars I'm loading from a MYSQL query and they remain, the two loaded from MSSQL disappear. I have confirmed that all four session vars are loading ok initially and I can echo them out to the page, but when the application moves to next page via redirect or form submit, the two vars loaded from MSSQL are empty. Any ideas? Hey how would I post the selected value from the following code? Quote $sql="SELECT username FROM members"; $result=mysql_query($sql); $options=""; while ($row=mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $username=$row["username"]; $options.="<OPTION VALUE=\"$id\">".$username; } ?> <SELECT NAME="person"> <OPTION VALUE=0>Choose <?=$options?> </SELECT> I'm creating a line graph using ChartJs. I wanted to display my data according to the month selected by the user. For example, if the user select "2021-03" all the order that is made in the month of March will be plotted in the graph. It works well for the current month, but it does not work for the selected month. I use Ajax to get the data but i do not know why my graph does not shown when i click on my `loadchart();` button. Can anyone enlighten me how can i do it? Because i do not know what mistake did i made here. Any kind of explanation will be appreciated. Thanks!

Reformatted post I have a mysql database where users enter their data using a form that includes a rundate input field that generates a calendar date in this type of format: xx/xx/xxxx into a mysql database field called rundate. I would like to query the database to search a string of dates that are in the database, such as 01/01/2011, 01/02/2011, 01/03/2011 but I'm not sure on how to code this into my search.php. I have attached the search page to this post. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate, and if you need me to be more expanded on my explanation, just let me know....i try to keep it very simplistic. [attachment deleted by admin] Here is my code: // Start MySQL Query for Records $query = "SELECT codes_update_no_join_1b" . "SET orig_code_1 = new_code_1, orig_code_2 = new_code_2" . "WHERE concat(orig_code_1, orig_code_2) = concat(old_code_1, old_code_2)"; $results = mysql_query($query) or die(mysql_error()); // End MySQL Query for Records This query runs perfectly fine when run direct as SQL in phpMyAdmin, but throws this error when running in my script??? Why is this??? Code: [Select] You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '= new_code_1, orig_code_2 = new_code_2WHERE concat(orig_code_1, orig_c' at line 1 If you also have any feedback on my code, please do tell me. I wish to improve my coding base. Basically when you fill out the register form, it will check for data, then execute the insert query. But for some reason, the query will NOT insert into the database. In the following code below, I left out the field ID. Doesn't work with it anyways, and I'm not sure it makes a difference. Code: Code: [Select] mysql_query("INSERT INTO servers (username, password, name, type, description, ip, votes, beta) VALUES ($username, $password, $name, $server_type, $description, $ip, 0, 1)"); Full code: Code: [Select] <?php include_once("includes/config.php"); ?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title><? $title; ?></title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="English" /> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style.css" media="screen" /> </head> <body> <div id="wrap"> <div id="header"> <h1><? $title; ?></h1> <h2><? $description; ?></h2> </div> <? include_once("includes/navigation.php"); ?> <div id="content"> <div id="right"> <h2>Create</h2> <div id="artlicles"> <?php if(!$_SESSION['user']) { $username = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['username']); $password = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['password']); $name = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['name']); $server_type = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['type']); $description = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['description']); if(!$username || !$password || !$server_type || !$description || !$name) { echo "Note: Descriptions allow HTML. I want to be able to "SELECT * FROM users WHERE email='$email'" and then show the values that can be changed in a html drop down box with the selection that was made when the user registered already selected="selected"; You will be able to see what I am attempting to do below. <?php $sql = "SELECT manufacturer FROM table1 WHERE email=$'email'"; $result = mysqli_query($cxn,$sql); $row = mysqli_fetch_assoc($result); foreach manufacturer in table1 { if table1.manufacturer = table2.manufacturer { echo '<option name="manufacturer" selected="selected" value"$row['manufacturer']"</option>'; } else { echo '<option name="manufacturer" value"$row['manufacturer']"</option>'; } } ?> Hi, My output in html is : Code: [Select] <uL><li id="B1"></li> <li id="B2"></li> <li id="B3"></li> <li id="B4"></li> <li id="B5"></li> <li id="B6"></li> <li id="B7"></li> <li id="B8"></li> <li id="B9"></li> <li id="B10"></li> <li id="B11"></li> <li id="B12" class="active"></li> <li id="B13" class="no"></li> <li id="B14" class="no"></li> <li id="B15" class="no"></li> <li id="B16" class="no"></li> <li id="B17" class="no"></li> <li id="B18" class="no"></li> <li id="B19" class="no"></li> <li id="B20" class="no"></li> </ul> If MySQL query result is equal to `6`, then `<li>` tag with `id` equal to "`B12`" should have class "`active`". All the `<li>` elements occuring after this active element should have class "`no`". This shows images of horizontal rating between `0` and `10` and between 0.5 Example : 0 .5 1 1.5 2 2.5 3 3.5 4 4.5 5 5.5 6 6.5 7 7.5 8 8.5 9 9.5 10 In the example above elements from `0` to `5` will be blue, element `6` will be white and elements from `7` to `10` are black. How could I generate this using PHP and/or MySQL? Thanks, XXXX chirstmas XXXX The Script:
<form method="post" action="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] ?>"> <input type="text" name="hashtags" /> <input type="submit" name="submit" /> </form> <?php include("connect.php"); ?> <?php if(isset($_POST['submit'])){ $hashtags = explode(", ", $_POST['hashtags']); for($i= 0; $i < count($hashtags); $i++){ $tqs = "SELECT `id` FROM `hashtags_two` WHERE `hashtags` = '" . $hashtags[$i] . "'"; $tqr = mysqli_query($dbc, $tqs) or die(mysqli_error($dbc)); } $fetch_array = array(); while($row = mysqli_fetch_array($tqr)){ $fetch_array[] = $row['id']; } }Hey, sorry for these fundamental array questions lately, I am not going to ask much more when it comes to this. The hashtags come from the submit form (separated by commas) and get stored inside an array with the "explode()" function. The script should select the ID numbers of the hashtags from the table. With the script above only the last row gets inserted into $fetch_array inside the while loop. When the $fetch_array variable is printed on screen then only one ID number can be seen inside the array: Array ( [0] => 24 )How can I have the other ID numbers too? hi, i'm new to php. i've got a problem. I've 3 tables and table has following content table 1 id name email address phone execution_date executor_name web_address table 2 id name email address phone execution_date executor_name project_title table 3 id name email address phone execution_date executor_name reviewer I want to export these table to and spreadsheet (.xls) with some criteria a form will assign which data will published at the spreadsheet with these criteria #all data can be exported from three tables #some column can be selected from three tables #some or all data can be selected from individual table i've implement a script for this but it didn't meet my requirements. Can anyone help? here is my script <?php $DB_Server = "localhost"; //your MySQL Server $DB_Username = "root"; //your MySQL User Name $DB_Password = "pass"; //your MySQL Password $DB_DBName = "mydb"; //your MySQL Database Name $search_from_date = $_POST['start_date']; $search_to_date = $_POST['end_date']; $Connect = @mysql_connect($DB_Server, $DB_Username, $DB_Password) or die("Couldn't connect to MySQL:<br>" . mysql_error() .
