PHP - Update Post With Multiple Categories
hi i was working on a code where i need to use multiple categories for a post, i get help before to add post in multi categories, now i need help on what would be my query to do update for a multiple categories post,
to insert a new post with multiple categories i used this $values = array(); foreach($_POST['categories'] as $catID) { $values[] = "($postID, $catID)"; } $sql = "INSERT INTO `relation` (`postid`, `catid`) VALUES " . implode(', ', $values); $query = $db->query($sql); so if a post had 3 categories it will add in relation table, now i wants to update that post and modify the categories, all other part is done only problem is to update this relational category table which have two columns only associated with post. i tried like this but did not work $sql = "UPDATE relation SET `catid` = " . implode(', ', $values) . " WHERE postid ='$id' "; please any help Similar TutorialsHey Everyone.
I am hoping this is the right place to ask this question.
I am using a new WordPress theme and it has native related post coding in it. The problem is the code uses Post Tags as the selection value instead of Post Category. I was wondering if anyone could help me with this strip of code. I want to change it so the theme gets Posts in the same Category, instead of Posts with the same Tags.
* Display related posts. * * @return void */ function stag_related_posts() { global $post; if( stag_rcp_user_has_no_access() ) return; if( ! stag_theme_mod( 'post_settings', 'show_related_posts' ) ) return; $tags = wp_get_post_tags( $post->ID ); if ( count( $tags ) ) { $tags_ids = array(); foreach($tags as $individual_tag) { $tag_ids[] = $individual_tag->term_id; } $query = new WP_Query( array( 'tag__in' => $tags_ids, 'post__not_in' => array( $post->ID ), 'posts_per_page' => absint( stag_theme_mod( 'post_settings', 'related_posts_count' ) ), 'caller_get_posts' => 1 ) ); // Add filter to attach 'post-grid' class add_filter( 'stag_showing_related_posts', '__return_true' ); if( $query->have_posts() ) : echo '<section class="related-posts" data-layout="2-2-2-2">'; while( $query->have_posts() ) : $query->the_post(); get_template_part( 'content', get_post_format() ); endwhile; echo '</section>'; endif; } wp_reset_query(); remove_all_filters( 'stag_showing_related_posts' ); }I've tried simply replaces the words Tags with Categories, but it doesn't seem to do much. Any help would be greatly, greatly, appreciated. Im struggling with how to filter items that have multiple categorises say if i wanted to search for a shoe that is good for walking and hiking in my database? Shoe_id Shoe name color_id type_id colors color_id color type type_id type My problem is what do i do in a situations like this? say a shoe is good for walking and running? aka type 1 and 2 shoe id 1 shoe name nike color id 1 type id 1 and 2 Members can be in up to three different categories, primary, secondary and tertiary. What I would like to do is have all members show in the result of a query string that looks for all members in a specific category no matter if it is their primary, secondary and tertiary category. Example: If say a visitor is looking for all members whose business category = 5 it will find and list all members whose BizCat1, BizCat2 OR BizCat3 equals 5
Right now I have this query string that finds all members in the members table with a BizCat1 = to %s. %s is a URLpararmeter variable passed over to the page.
$query_RSwbamembers = sprintf("SELECT * FROM members WHERE BizCat1 = %s AND LiveOnWeb = 1 ORDER BY BusinessName ASC", GetSQLValueString($colname_RSwbamembers, "int"));I would like the query result to also includes members whose BiZCat2 = %s or BiZCat3 = %s (the same value as BizCat1) which are additional fields in the table. Any suggestion on how to do this appreciated. Hello Guys, Need a little help here. I have a db structure like this cat_id | cat_name | cat_status | parent_id 1 First Test 1 0 2 Just testing 1 0 4 Books 1 2 5 Cars 1 0 6 Ford 1 5 If the parent_id = 0 it is considered to be the parent. If it is a number it is considered a child and referencing the parent I want to be able to query the database and grab the cat and the sub cat and echo it on my page. Its like a classified ads application. Here is my while loop that I currently have which only echo's out the parent category. I would like to echo the child category under the respective parent category. I think I would have to do a loop within a loop, but not sure how to do it.. $query = "SELECT * FROM ad_category WHERE cat_status='1' && Parent_id='0' ORDER BY cat_name"; $result = mysql_query($query); while($row = mysql_fetch_row($result)) { $cat_name = $row[1]; $cupper = UCWords($cat_name); echo $cupper . "<br>" ; } Thanks for your help in advance As the title says I need help with multiple update system.. Can't really get it to work at all >.< Here's some code: $selectt = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM exercises WHERE user='" . $_SESSION["user"] . "' AND exname='" . $_GET["edit"] . What I am looking to do is create one page that also lists ALL the products. Right now, in the category specific page it has this is in the code: Code: [Select] $data = get_portfolio_industry('Building Products'); $offset = $_GET['offset']; if($offset == ''){ $offset = 0; } function get_industries($rec_id){ $sql = "SELECT * FROM `".TBL_PORTFOLIO_INDUSTRY."` WHERE `portfolio_id` = '$rec_id'"; $data = SelectMultiRecords($sql); return $data; } And this is the from the functions file: function get_portfolio_industry($industry){ Code: [Select] $sql = "SELECT * FROM `".TBL_PORTFOLIO."` WHERE id IN (SELECT `portfolio_id` FROM `".TBL_PORTFOLIO_INDUSTRY."` WHERE `industry` = '$industry') ORDER BY `id`"; $data=SelectMultiRecords($sql); return $data; } My hope was I would simple combine the products like this: Code: [Select] $data = get_portfolio_industry('Building Products,Building Services,General Products'); ...but unfortunately it doesn't combine them. Any thoughts? Any help would be much appreciated. I have been going in circles about how to handle the issue that I have come up with and was hoping that someone could provide a different method. Basically I want to be able to create an infinite number of categories and allow them to be assigned to other categories then making them subcategories/sub sub categories if you will. My initial plan was to use a method I have used before by just saving the parent id of the subcategories and recursively going through the data. However, I am not to fond of this because of the inefficiency that it provides. I did some research and found that method is called the "Adjacency List". I also found another way to do it called "Nested Sets" which seems to be much more efficient but its a little harder to understand / maintain. I was hoping that someone here could offer alternatives to both of these methods that will allow me to keep the efficiency of "Nested Sets" but providing the ease of use / maintenance of the "Adjacency List". Thanks in advance for any help. Hi, Please help I need to make categories with su-categories I made in my database tables like this table = categories cid | cat_id | parent_list | categ_name | type 1 0 1 General category c 2 1 1,2 sub category s 3 1 1,3 sub category s 4 1 1,2 sub category s 5 1 1,5 sub category s 6 5 1,5,6 sub sub category s 7 0 7 General category2 c 8 7 7,8 sub category s I need to view this in dropdown menu using parent_list column Hi coders,

So far I have $from = $_POST['from']; with the 'from' being the client's email address. I would also like their name ('name') to show up next to their email in the header. I have tried such things like $from = $_POST['from' . 'name']; //or $from = $_POST['from']; $_POST['name']; and a few more, but I'm terrible at PHP coding in general. I have searched, but I really am at a loss as to what to search for. Can someone please give me an idea as to what I should do? Thanks, Sacha. hey can someone advice me on how to make my update script update multiple rows. here's what i've got so far: update.php <?php require('connect.php'); $update = mysql_query("SELECT DISTINCT rideName FROM ride ORDER BY rideName DESC" ); $numrows = mysql_num_rows($update); echo "<form action='mysql_update.php' method='POST'> <select name='updateRide' >"; while ($row=mysql_fetch_assoc($update)) { #$rideID = $row ['rideID']; $rideName = $row ['rideName']; #$seatNumber = $row ['seatNumber']; #$time = $row ['time']; #$price = $row ['price']; echo "<option value='$id'> $rideName </option>"; } echo "</select> <input type='text' name='tochange'> <input type='submit' name='submit' value='change'> </form>"; ?> and now the handler script: mysql_update.php <?php require ('connect.php'); $updateRide=$_POST['updateRide']; $tochange=$_POST['tochange']; if ($updateRide&&$tochange) { $change = mysql_query("UPDATE ride SET rideName='$tochange' WHERE $id='updateRide'"); } ?> When I try this I get nothing, no changes. Hi there, Im fairly new at php and mysql but nevertheless im trying to build a web based campaign game for starwars minatures boardgame. Its fairly straightforward and going well.. However ive been thinking about how it will work and have stumbled across a possible problem (because of my limited craft at programming). I want to have a single form that updates all records in the tables, this would simulate an "end of turn" button. Im sure i can do this if doing stuff in the game (e.g. move, create , modify, delete, fleets/ships and auto increment ships hulls simulating repair) if it was done on the same page. However i wanted to to initiate some of these adjustments in their respective pages (fleet.php, planets.php, ships.php etc) and then once the user is happy to click the end turn button somewhere which would update all of these things at the same time.. Is this possible at all??? If anybody could help that would be brilliant. Thank you p.s. if anybody wants a copy of the finished product when its complete, your most welcome. ok, so I have this code: Code: [Select] <?php if (isset($_POST['submitted'])) { include('connect1.php'); $category = $_POST['category']; $criteria = $_POST['criteria'] ; $query = ("SELECT name, badges, rank, userid FROM members WHERE $category LIKE '%".$criteria."%'"); $result = mysqli_query($dbcon, $query) or die('error getting data'); $num_rows = mysqli_num_rows($result); echo "$num_rows results found"; echo "<table width=\"896\" border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">"; echo "<tr bgcolor=\"#F7E496\"><td bgcolor=\"#F7E496\"><strong>name</strong></td><td bgcolor=\"#F7E496\" ><strong>Merit Badges</strong></td><td bgcolor=\"#F7E496\"><strong>Rank</strong></td><td bgclor=\"#F7E496\"></td></tr>"; while ($row = mysqli_fetch_array($result, MYSQLI_ASSOC)) {$color = ($color == 'white')?'#fffccc':'white'; echo "<tr bgcolor='$color'><td> <input type=\"text\" name=\"userid\" id=\"userid\" value='".$row['userid']."'>"; echo $row['name']; echo " </td><td> <form action=\"scout.php\" method=\"post\"> <textarea name=\"badges\" id=\"badges\" cols=\"40\" rows=\"3\" type=\"textarea\">".$row['badges']."</textarea></td><td> <span class=\"adfa\"> </span> <select name=\"rank\" id=\"rank\"> <option value=\"Scout\">Scout</option> <option value=\"Tenderfoot\">Tenderfoot</option> <option value=\"Second Class Scout\">Second Class Scout</option> <option value=\"First Class Scout\">First Class Scout</option> <option value=\"Star Scout\">Star Scout</option> <option value=\"Life Scout\">Life Scout</option> <option value=\"Eagle Scout\">Eagle Scout</option> <option value=\"\" selected=\"selected\">".$row['rank']."</option> </td><td>"; echo "<input type=\"submit\" name=\"submit\" id=\"submit\" value=\"Save\" /> "; echo "</form>"; } echo "</table>"; echo "</td></tr>"; } ?> and this is the code that does the posting: Code: [Select] <?php session_start(); // Must start session first thing /* Created By Adam Khoury @ [URL=http://'http://www.flashbuilding.com/']www.flashbuilding.com[/URL] -----------------------June 20, 2008----------------------- */ // Here we run a login check if (!isset($_SESSION['id'])) { echo 'Please <a href="login.php">log in</a> to access your account'; exit(); } //Connect to the database through our include include_once "connect_to_mysql.php"; // Place Session variable 'id' into local variable $userid = $_SESSION['id']; // Query member data from the database and ready it for display // Process the form if it is submitted if ($_POST['submit']) { $badges = $_POST['badges']; $userid = $_POST['userid']; $rank = $_POST['rank']; $sql = mysql_query("UPDATE members SET badges='$badges', rank='$rank' WHERE userid='".$_GET['userid']."'"); printf("Records updated: %d\n", mysql_affected_rows()) ; exit(); } // close if post ?> So what I need to know is how I can make it so that each result has it's user id associated with it......and I can update multiple rows at once according to each userid that is associated..........right now I can only get it to do one if I add on ?userid=".$row['userid']." in the first piece of code.......how can I make it update lets say 78 as soon as I click submit...... PS I know there will be a submit button with each row right now.......I will move it out of the loop later..... |
