PHP - Php Mail Works But Inconsistent
Greetings, all -
Curious to know if someone wouldn't mind taking a look at this code and letting me know if there are any apparent errors that may cause this problem: I attempted sending the message to one of my two 1and1 email accounts and after some delay, it sent it to 1and1 account B but not 1and1 account A. My gmail account, however, gets them every time. I'd like to just say it's some issue with 1and1 but since it successfully got through to the one 1and1 account I'm not comfortable stopping at that. I should also mention that for some reason, as I'm trying it today, the successful 1and1 account will no longer receive the messages... I've tried it with directly copying the php mail code from 1and1's FAQ, though, and it seemed to work for the 1and1 account that was previously succcessful (acct B) but not acct A. Very stuck... Thanks $from = $_REQUEST['email']; $subject = $_REQUEST['subject']; $message = $_REQUEST['question']; mail("username@domain.com", "Subject: $subject", $message, "From: $from"); echo "Mail sent"; 1and1 FAQ with mail code: http://faq.1and1.com/scripting_languages_supported/php_mail_explained/2.html Similar TutorialsI have a notification system that notifies users of new comments, inside the email I have images, some of the logo, some of different people, everything shows up fine on my computer (yahoo email), however in the iPhones email application no images show up, there are just the blue squares with the question marks in them. Any ideas or suggestions please? Hi. I had some trouble getting the mail function to work, I guess because I'm developing on LAMP (localhost), but I got it working at the office yesterday by configuring things as outlined here http://mattsk.blogspot.com/2010/09/configure-lamp-on-ubuntu-1004-to-send.html This got it working fine. But today I'm trying it from home and it's not working (mail is not getting sent). I don't know how the network is set up at work, but at home I'm on wireless lan through a d-link router. I have a feeling it has something to do with the smtp_port = 465 (see link above), and that port maybe being blocked by the firewall or something. I'm not really sure how all this stuff works though. I tried contacting d-link, but they want some money before they'll help me out. I followed some instructions I found online to forward port 465, which seemed to work (at lease the router told me so). But the mail is still not sending. A also tried the "fix-almost-any-computer-problem-ever" solution (i.e. I restarted my computer). But still nothing. I hope I've come to the right place for help. Any help would be great. Thanks. This topic has been moved to Other Web Server Software. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=347009.0 The variable is set so the user can see the inside pages of a members area after they have logged in. By the time they go to a different page the variable is gone. Please note the following: - It doesn't happen to a specific browser - It doesn't happen all of the time - It works when I print the value of the $_SESSION variable - Once it has been printed to the screen once if I remove the functionality that makes it print, it keeps working. It's nearly impossible for me to test because I can't recreate the problem. It is my client that has the problem every once in a while. Please help!! I'm encountering some inconsistent behaviour with respect to variable substitution. I hope someone here can help me figure out why. Let me explain what I'm trying to do. I am working on a prototype that is supposed to display a simple three-column MySQL table in ascending order by one or the other of the three columns. Exactly the same data (rows and columns) is shown each time; only the sequence of the rows differs. To accomplish this, I show the user a form with three radio buttons in a single group. The user chooses the radio button that represents the column which is to be used in the sort, then presses Submit. That invokes a script that contains PHP. The script reads the value passed from the form, which is the name of one of the three columns of the table, Series, Character, or Actor. and stores it in a variable name $SortKey. Then, the variable is used in ORDER BY clause of the SQL Query to cause sorting on that column. This all works perfectly for the first and third columns, Series and Actor. But when script executes for the column named Character, the result is an empty table. There is no error message of any kind. I'm baffled by this. Obviously, my approach is correct otherwise the first and third columns would fail as well. But I can't see anything different about the second column. I'm very new to PHP but know HTML quite well and have substantial experience with Java and a little bit with Perl so I'm not new to programming by a long shot. Here's the form, which is called Captains_form.php: Code: [Select] <html> <head> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/main.css" media="screen"/> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/print.css" media="print"/> </head> <body> <h1>Enterprise Captains</h1> <p>You can view the list of Enterprise Captains in any of the following sequences:</p> <form action="Captains.php" method="post"> <input type="radio" name="sort" value="Series" /> Series (ascending)<br /> <input type="radio" name="sort" value="Character" /> Character (ascending)<br /> <input type="radio" name="sort" value="Actor" /> Actor (ascending)<br /> <input type="submit" /> </form> </body> </html> Here's the script, which is called Captains.php: Code: [Select] <html> <head> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/main.css" media="screen"/> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/print.css" media="print"/> </head> <body> <h2>Enterprise Captains List</h2> <?php $con = mysql_connect("localhost:3306","my_All","******"); if (!$con) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db("my_Sandbox", $con); //echo $_POST["sort"]; $SortKey=$_POST["sort"]; $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM Captains order by $SortKey"); echo "<table border='1' cellpadding='5' cellspacing='0'>"; echo "<tr class='heading'><th>Series</th><th>Character</th><th>Actor</th></tr>"; while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo "<tr class='detail'><td>" . $row['Series'] . "</td><td>" . $row['Character'] . "</td><td>" . $row['Actor'] . "</td></tr>"; } echo "</table>"; mysql_close($con); ?> </body> </html> Can anyone tell me why the second column, Character, produces an empty result when I select it on the form? Also, if there is an error message being produced when the query executes, how can I get it? I think I'm handing errors in the connection correctly but I'm not sure how to detect an error in the execution of the query. This might not be enough info for anyone to help with but I'm taking a chance because I'm at my wits end. I have this relatively simple form on a page called "createquiz.php" which has a select dropdown for every row in the table which triggers the form to submit when an option is chosen. It is then sent to "move.php" to manipulate the data. The gist is that users can go to row 4 (for example) and choose "2" from the drop down menu and it will go to move.php which will then update the id of row 4 to now be 2. Basically just reordering the rows in the table. The weird thing is that when the "option" chosen has a value LESS THAN the value of $info['answerid'] for the chosen row, the form submits fine to move.php (like my example above going from 4 to 2. However, if the "option" chosen has a value GREATER THAN the value of $info['answerid'] for the chosen row (like if the user tried to move row 4 to row 7), the form doesn't submit to move.php and instead the page refreshes with a super weird URL like this... "createquiz.php?move=3&submitthisform=submit&hidden=move&numanswers=3#". I have no code anywhere the tries to build a URL anything like that, so something is going very wrong. It looks like it's taking all of the "names" from my form code below and throwing them into a URL. With this minimal info, just curious if anyone has any idea what type of problem in code could lead to this weird type of URL? FYI, the code that gets the values for $_GET['quizid'] and $info['answerid'] is not shown, but I'm positive that is all working fine so I don't think it's important in regards to this issue, especially because when the problem happens, it's not even getting to the point where it tries to post to that URL. Code: [Select] <form method='post' action='move.php?quizid={$_GET['quizid']}&answerid=" . $info['answerid'] . "'> <select name='move' onChange='this.form.submit();'> <option value='x' >Move to...</option> "; for($i=1; $i<=$lastid;$i++) { echo "<option value='$i'>$i</option>"; } echo "</select> <input type='hidden' name='submitthisform' value='submit' /><input type='hidden' name='hidden' value='move' /><input type='hidden' name='numanswers' value='$lastid' /> </form> Hello, If I have an index file with: date_default_timezone_set('GMT'); error_reporting(E_ALL | E_STRICT); abstract class A { abstract public static function YesIReallyMeanAbstractStatic(); } class B extends A { public static function YesIReallyMeanAbstractStatic() { } } This will not error. However if I have: date_default_timezone_set('GMT'); error_reporting(E_ALL | E_STRICT); require('class_a_in_a_different_file.php'); // Or use __autoload() to do the same. class B extends A { public static function YesIReallyMeanAbstractStatic() { } } This will throw the error: "Static function A::YesIReallyMeanAbstractStatic() should not be abstract" I know abstract statics are debatable... but it makes no sense to me for it to be allowed in the first example but disallowed in other. So I was wondering if this is a bug? Or is there something else going on here? I assume the parser is evaluating the included file and then throwing the error which doesn't happen if both classes are in the same file as they can then be evaluated altogether. $to=sammieave@ave.com,samuel@ave.com; $subject = "New Event Logged"; $message = "Test"; $headers = "From: Samuel<sammieave@ave.com>;\r\n"; $headers .= "Content-Type: text/html"; mail($to,$subject,$message,$headers); I am having the above code but unfortunately the error I am getting is: Warning: mail() [function.mail]: SMTP server response: 550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable or not local in C:\xampp\htdocs\CRM\support\mailer.php on line 139 Hello to all out there! this is my first post,so my question may sound a bit simple. :] I am studying PHP and MySQL and I tried to make a mailing form based on a mysql database. My problem occured when I tried to use the PEAR mail object. Here is my code: // THE INCLUDED FILES require_once ("attach_file.php" ); require_once ("Mail.php" ); require_once ("Mail\mime.php" ); //THE VARIABLES TAKEN FROM THE HTML FORM OR JUST CREATED FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE EMAIL $my_email = "something@gmail.com"; $email_subject = mysql_real_escape_string(trim( $_POST['email_subject']),$server_connect ); $email_body = mysql_real_escape_string(trim( $_POST['email_body'] ),$server_connect ); $attached_file = $destination ; // the $destination variable comes from the copy() function in attach_file.php $username = "the_username@gmail.com"; $password = "the_password"; $host = "smtp.gmail.com"; $attach = new Mail_mime(); $attach -> addAttachment($attached_file); $email_body = $attach->get(); $extraheaders = array('from'=>$my_email,'to'=>$email_etaireias,'subject'=>$email_subject,'Bcc'=>$email_etaireias); $headers = $attach -> $headers($extraheaders); // HERE GIVES ME AN ERROR!!! -->Fatal error: Method name must be a string $smtp_info = array('host'=>$host,'auth'=>TRUE,'username'=>$username,'password'=>$password); $smtp = Mail::factory('smtp',$smtp_info); //loop through every single line of the database until there are no more lines with data //and store each line in 3 different variables that i can use while ( $row = mysql_fetch_array($result) ) { $onoma_etaireias = $row['onoma_etaireias']; $email_etaireias = $row['email_etaireias']; $website_etaireias = $row['website_etaireias']; } //construct the mail function . The @ is supressing the errors created .remove it and they will be shown. $mail = @$smtp->send($email_etaireias,$headers,$email_body); As i searched here and there for a solution, i found that it has something to do with the way the mail-mime object creates the body of the email . I also tried to find a solution from the PEAR documentation. do i create the headers someway wrong????? I'm setting up a newsletter thing for my website. I have a newsletter table in MySQL: Quote +----------------+------+--------+ | email | mens | womens | +----------------+------+--------+ | test2@test.com | 1 | 1 | | test1@test.com | 1 | 0 | +----------------+------+--------+ I am using a HTML form and this PHP code I learn't from the manual, which sends out e-mail's. PHP: if ($_POST['newsletter'] == 'Mens') { $to = ''; $subject = $_POST['subject']; $body = $_POST['body']; $header = 'From: Me Someone <me@someone.com>'; mail($to, $subject, $body, $header); } What I want to do with the above code is send out an e-mail to all the e-mails in my MySQL database that are tagged '1' under mens. How would I go about doing this? I'm guessing I will have to use a MySQL query in the $to = ''; that goes something like this: $to = '$query (select from `newsletters` where `email` = 1'); ? I am using magento for sending mail with condition, My code: <?php class Gta_MerchantNotification_Model_Observer { public function merchantremainder($Observer) { $order = $Observer->getEvent()->getOrder(); $order_details = $order->getAllVisibleItems(); $itemData = array(); foreach ($order_details as $list) { $incrementid = $order->getIncrementId(); $sku = $list->getsku(); $name = $list->getName(); $price = $list->getPrice(); $Qty = $list->getQtyOrdered(); $extra = $order->getIncrementId(); $message = " <tr> <!-- <td>$incrementid</td> --> <td>$sku</td> <td>$name</td> <td>$price</td> <td>$Qty</td> </tr>"; $itemData[$list->getId()] = $message; } $finalMessage = " <p>Order Id : $incrementid</p> <table border='1'> <tr> <!-- <th>Id</th> --> <th>Sku</th> <th>Product name</th> <th>Price</th> <th>Qty Ordered</th> </tr>"; if (!empty($itemData)) { foreach ($itemData as $data) { $finalMessage .= $data; } $finalMessage .= "</table>"; $this->sendMail($finalMessage); } } public function sendMail($message) { $body ="$message"; $emailTemplate = Mage::getModel('core/email'); $emailTemplate->setFromName('abc'); $emailTemplate->setBody($body); $emailTemplate->setSubject("Custom Email from observer"); $emailTemplate->setType('html'); $emailTemplate->setToEmail('abc@gmail.com'); $emailTemplate->send(); } } ?>
Output :
If order placed mail send to abc@gmail.com. I want :
1) If SKU starts with 2, email should go to the mail id abc@gmail.com,
2) If SKU starts with 3, email should go to the mail id xyz@gmail.com,
3) If SKU starts with 4, email should go to the mail id qwe@gmail.com,
FYI - If an order contains 10 items email should go separately based on SKU. But an order id the same must include all the emails.
Hello there, I've come across a issue with using PHP's mail function due to the fact I've tried a assortment of different headers yet Hotmail continues to place my sent emails in the junk folder. Here is my method of emailing my clients: function Email($AccountID, $Subject, $Message) { if($this->IsValidAccount($AccountID)) { $Account = $this->AccountKeys($AccountID); $headers .= 'To: '.$Account['account_client'].' <'.$Account['account_email'].'>' . "\r\n"; $headers .= "From: X-Host <no-reply@X-Host.co.uk>\r\n"; $headers .= "Reply-To: X-Host <no-reply@X-Host.co.uk>\r\n"; $headers .= "Return-Path: no-reply@X-Host.co.uk\r\n"; $headers .= "MIME-Version: 1.0\r\n"; $headers .= "Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1\r\n"; $headers .= "Organization: X-Host\r\n"; echo $Account['account_email']. $Subject. $Message; return mail($Account['account_email'], $Subject, $Message, $headers); } else return InvalidAccount; } So could anybody help me out please and tell me what headers I should be using. Hi all, I'm coding an automated mailer for a dentist office. They set appointment dates through a web interface, and then this appointment is mailed to the customer via PHP's mail() function. However, some users are not receving the mail. They claim that it is not even in the junk mail folder. Is it because I'm setting or not setting certain properties in the header? Should I be setting something else? Here is my code Code: [Select] ini_set("SMTP", "mail.isp-provider.net"); $headers = 'From: Schedule Manager <schedule@address.com>' . "\r\n" . It worked perfectly on the previous server I had it on, but since we've moved to a new server I'm getting an odd result. I'm getting some (about a quarter) emails sent and a failure to send on the others. With the script run several times, I get different results. For example, on the first run, Bob's email might get sent, but on the second one his is one of the failures. Below is the brunt of the script. I don't believe the problem is in the script but rather something with the server. Has anyone had a problem like this, or have any idea of what it may be? THANK YOU!!!
