The second page code returns this error: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or T_NUM_STRING When I execute print_r, the values are returned to me. So I have two questions: 1) What do I need to do to change the code on the 2nd page to echo and POST the array? 2)The database contains multiple exercises under the same name. So, when the variables are passed to the 2nd page. All the values are returned regardless of whether they have been filled out or not. What can be done to only returned the user input and not the blank variables? Say there is a complex opt in process where people start to enter their data but certain questions stop them where they close out of the page. They already entered their data and I feel there is a way to grab it and post it to mysql even though they do not click submit.
How would this be done?
A super simple example (proof of concept) or a link to a tutorial would be very useful.

Hi, I have stored user data in the database, but I think I need to somehow grab the "id" of the username, and use that in a SESSION when they log in, so that I can pull up the user information in the database for that particular user when they log in. and do that for everyone when they log in. My idea is user logs in Something like "grab the user "id" linked to this user, and add that value to "$currentUser", then somehow when it is time to show their user profile page, I do something like "display all field data where username=$currentUser. I can now let them log into a php search screen that they can pull data from and see what we have stored. I would like to restrict what info they can pull by the user name they log in with, so they are not pulling other client info when they do the search. the user database and company database are two different ones. they search by box number and i would like to restrict what it pulls up by company name depending on if the user logged in has rites to that company info. so if jane doe logged in and she was a member of soso company when she did a box search she would only see what was from soso company instead of how it is now it pulls from soso, DD, and all the company's. First of all I'd like to say thank you for all the great information on the forums, I've been reading a lot on here lately.
I've started to make a website where users can log in and submit items to a database, which is then displayed on another page.
If Tom and Bill both post 10 items, all 20 items will be displayed on the "listings" page, however on the main log in screen Tom will only see his own 10 items and Bill will see his own 10 items.
This is all working perfectly, however, I now need to add a delete button so that they can delete specific items.
I have loosely followed this tutorial here to get the table to display as I want it (amongst a few other things, such as the user logins) http://www.wickham43...mphptomysql.php
I've added the delete button in the PHP loop for each row, I just can't figure out how to delete the specific row when clicked.

On the other company's site, there will be a form (using POST) that has my web application as the action element. The user who clicked the submit button will be redirected to my site, where I need to receive the $_POST data from this form to process before redirecting into the web application. I have done work on the other side, using standard form posts to send data to another site, but I've never had to write the code for the receiving end. I have a small script that I am using for sending SMS. I recently added a phonebook. The problem with the phonebook right now is that it's available to all users, i.e. they can all update and delete all rows. What I would like to do is make it so that each user can update and delete only their own contacts.
