PHP - Includes Issue / Fatal Error Or Not Working
Hello,
I'm having an issue that I just can't seem to figure out. I have two include files - one that contains a function to return credentials for accessing the database and the other that generates/sends email. The issue that I'm having is that if I can change all the include_once to include, I get a fatal error that the function can't be redeclared. When I leave them as include_once, the first time the database credentials are needed, it works but subsequent calls to the function later in the code fail. I feel like I'm missing something very simple but just can't figure it out for the life of me. Thank you SO much for any help - I tried to illustrate my files/code below. Thank you! Everything seems to work fine when/if I use the following SQL query (which can also be seen commented out in my code towards the end of this post) :

Hello everyone Hi there, I have a local server set up on my computer which I have used before and it worked flawlessly. It is running apache with PHPand mySQL set up as services. Recently I attempted to copy a project I have worked on at school onto my server. I have the database up and running, however when I try to run a PHP file it gives me the error: Quote Fatal error: Cannot redeclare getText() in C:\Server\htdocs\projects\tournament\includes\functions.php on line 20 When I rename that function (which I know is not being redeclared) I get a browser error: Quote This webpage is not available. The webpage at http://localhost/projects/tournament/index.php might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. More information on this error Below is the original error message Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): Unknown error. Has anybody else experienced this error and have a solution to fix it? My guess is that it has to do with the function gettext() being available on this machine but not on the machine at school, however I thought PHP was case sensitive? My provider isn't saying whether there's been an update but the fact that the site has always worked fine and now isn't, well...
So, here's some sample code from a .html page that calls for the TPL file:

A long time ago, I was told to put this in my htaccess file:
AddType application/x-httpd-php5 .html
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .html
If I delete both of these lines from the htaccess file, the site will load without the internal server error but my includes don't work at all. There's just an empty space where the content from the tpl file is supposed to be. I know they installed php 5.4 but my site was automatically put on 5.2 as a default.
I submitted a ticket with my provider and this was the response.

It may be server related, but I don't know what to look for. I have a .php page with a few Virtual Includes: Code: [Select] <?php virtual ("nav.shtml"); ?> ...throughout it. I have also a parser that is displaying XML data in a table form. The parser works with the standard: Code: [Select] <?php include ('parser.php'); ?> ...however, if I have the Virtual above the include, the parser doesn't work. Or at least it will not "find the file" however, the file is there and it works ABOVE the virtual, displaying it fine... For example, this works: Code: [Select] <?php include ('parser.php'); ?> <?php virtual ('file.shtml'); ?> This doesn't: Code: [Select] <?php virtual ('file.shtml'); ?> <?php include ('parser.php'); ?> Any thoughts?
In PHP Version 8.0 shows error as : In previous versions of PHP it does not show any error. Ive set the max uplaod file size before this, which i changed to: $maxFileSize=9999999999999999999999; to make sure it wasn't this but it had no effect. i still get the fatal error. anyone got some ideas? i can post the whole php file if needed but may be a bit long winded I have a script which is uploading very large files into blobs (<=800MB). Now i had the max memory size in the php.ini set to 150MB and while uploading it would stop and tell me that that I exhausted all the bytes (157xxxxx can remember the exact figure but im pretty sure it equalled 150MB). Any ways I experimentally set the max memory size to 800MB just to see if that would help and now its telling me Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 524288) (tried to allocate 804524032 bytes)? What is the meaning of this and how can one rectify the issue?
