PHP - Cant View Fwrite Text File In Browser
Hey,
I am pretty new to php. I am creating a simple website to handle a http get I need to do for a Android Application. I can write to a file but I am unable to open it in a browser. It just shows a blank page. When I download it from my browser (Firefox) to my hard drive (Windows 7) using my ftp I can view the .txt file. All i want to do is write to a text file. Any help would be nice. Sorry for sparse information. I am hosting it on 000webhost.com. Thanks My Code: 3 files blank "data.txt", index.html, process.php Index.html Code: [Select] <html><body> <h4>Tizag Art Supply Order Form</h4> <form action="process.php" method="post"> <select name="item"> <option>Paint</option> <option>Brushes</option> <option>Erasers</option> </select> Quantity: <input name="quantity" type="text" /> <input type="submit" /> </form> </body></html> process.php <html><body> <?php $quantity = $_POST['quantity']; $item = $_POST['item']; $myFile = "data.txt"; $fh = fopen($myFile, 'at') or die("can't open file"); $stringData = "Bobby Bopper"; fwrite($fh, $stringData); $stringData = "Tracy Tanner"; fwrite($fh, $stringData); fclose($fh); echo "You ordered ". $quantity . " " . $item . ".<br />"; echo "Thank you for ordering from Tizag Art Supplies!"; ?> </body></html> Similar TutorialsHey guys, I have a script that is run once a week to fetch some user info for a large number of accounts. The code I have now writes the info correctly, but I was wondering if there was an easy way to have the accountdata.txt file completely wiped before new updated info is written to it, as opposed to deleting it manually every week. $FileName = "accountdata.txt"; $f=fopen($FileName,"a+"); fwrite($f, $UserKey[$i]." ".$SigKey[$i]."\n"); $f=fclose; I could in theory just open the file and delete everything in it manually, save it and then run this script, but I'm always looking for more ways to make things efficient, and come a time when it's run more than once a week it'd be nice to have all that automated. So in summary, I need it to delete all data (if any) from the accountdata.txt file before it writes anything to it. Thanks. I have a PHP script that does some work copying some files and parsing through the files. Then it creates an Excel file and sends it to the browser to download. So you user will see the standard popup asking to save or open the file. Well, I am using ob_flush to try and output text to the browser while it is working so the user knows something is happening. But whenever I add the ob_flush lines in, it just sends a bunch of garbage text to the browser instead of downloading the file. Anyone know a way around this? Thanks Mike Hello Friends... I am creating a HTML webpage and connecting with MYSQL. If the client will check the conditions, it will pass it to PHP and get values from MYSQL and print it in the webpage as a HTML table format. Now i want to create a SAVE button and save the HTML TAble values as TXT tab demilited file. I tried of creating a TXT file by using fopen() and write the values by using fwrite() function. But it is working only in the putty. While running the program from the browser, its not working. Will somebody help me to solve this prob? I also was searched for creating a TXT file from HTML table. But i wouldnt get any codes reg this.... Thanks Rose Hi, I am trying to save some content with form which has php code in it. i.e $submittedphpcode <?php echo 'test'; ?> my code to save that $submittedphpcode $file = "file.php"; $ourFileHandle = fopen($filefile, 'w+') or die("can't open file"); fwrite($ourFileHandle, "$submittedphpcode"); fclose($ourFileHandle); and i am getting this file created with slashes <?php\r\n\r\necho \'test\';\r\n\r\n?> i tried with stripslashes but it just remove \ not r n , i need to keep spaces etc. any help on how to save it as php file properly? Thanks I have a simple script which records search terms and writes them to an external file. I would like to limit this file size. The Use: I have a search page where people can search for PDF files. I would like to have a 'cloud tag' or list of the most recent terms searched at the bottom of the page. Here is my script which works beautifully: <?php $pattern = "/filetype:(\w+)/"; // filteype:(wildcard for word) to grab the file extension along with the word filetype: if ( $_GET['q'] == "" ) { $term = ""; } else { $term = preg_replace("$pattern", '', $_GET['q']); // get rid of the filetype parameter } $searched = $term . ", "; $fopen = fopen("searched.html", "a"); fwrite($fopen, $searched); fclose($fopen); ?> The above code grabs the search term when the SERP page is opened, and writes it to a file. I will later use phpInclude to put the contents of that file on the bottom of my search engine page. The problem is that after a million searches, this file will be huge! Question: How can I limit the file size and organize these search terms so that the most recent ones appear on the page? hi all i'm trying to make a quick and simple '.htaccess' installer and i'm using fopen/fwrite to do this but i'm getting an error: Quote Parse error: parse error in /var/www/test.php on line 12 here's the code: Code: [Select] <?PHP $File = ".htaccess"; $fh = fopen($File, 'a'); $Data = "\n#test write <IfModule mod_deflate.c> AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/css AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/javascript application/javascript application/x-javascript text/x-js text/ecmascript application/ecmascript text/vbscript text/fluffscript AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE image/svg+xml application/x-font-ttf application/x-font font/opentype font/otf font/ttf application/x-font-truetype application/x-font-opentype application/vnd.ms-fontobject application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.formula-template AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/xml application/xml </IfModule> <IfModule mod_expires.c> <FilesMatch "\.(ico|gif|jpg|JPG|jpeg|png|PNG|swf|css|js|html?|xml|txt)$"> ExpiresActive On ExpiresDefault "access plus 1 month" </FilesMatch> </IfModule> #test write\n"; fwrite($fh, $Data); fclose($fh); ?> how do i include the code in the $Data string bit? Hi there, I am trying to create a file using fwrite function, but for something reason all I get is a blank file with no content inside. Then it makes a new row and 3 cells in the home pages thread table that link to the page say who made it and what time they made it. Now it all works PERFECT (Im suprised how perfect on the first try actually) except for 1 tiny flaw which i think might be php not me but im not sure. The fwrite creates a new file but if the input contains any question marks (?) the link will work but no file will be created. For everyother character on teh standard keyboard its fine but not the question mark. What gives? thanks yall! MOD EDIT: <code></code> tags changed to proper [code] . . . [/code] BBCode tags. Can anyone help? Can anyone help me with adding a link to an uploaded file? What I have is a script that allows the user to upload a file, which saves into a folder on the server named "upload". I want to create a link that allows the user to open that file after it is downloaded. Here is what I have so far, but it's not working right. Can anyone help me out? I have gone through many attempts based on internet searches and examples that simply do not work. I have files stored in my MySQL db. The files cna be of any type and are being displayed in a listed report. The files are hyperlinked and clickable, but here is the issue: When I click on a file in: http://development.products-and-services.ca/cms/test.php I get: http://development.products-and-services.ca/cms/test2.php?content=DHall_CV_webdev_eng.pdf as a blank page result. The objective is to get a file download alert or to see the file in the browser. Any ideas? Hey I've roughly written a php ftp browser (file displayer) and I cant seen to get around the problem how I would navigate through the folders, im fairly new to php and haven't had much experience just wondering that some methods could be for keeping track of what directory I am in and how to navigate up and down through the files and folders, I'm looking for ideas not necessarily solutions. I use a $_GET to tell the script what folder to look through but I want to be able to navigate solely through the hyperlinks Here is my code so far: <?php ini_set('upload_max_filesize', '10M'); ini_set('post_max_size', '10M'); ini_set('max_input_time', 300); ini_set('max_execution_time', 300); $host = ""; $user = ""; $password = ""; $ftp_connection = ftp_connect($host); ftp_login($ftp_connection, $user, $password); if (isset($_GET['page'])) { $path = "/" . $_GET['page']; } else { $path = "/"; } $file_list = ftp_nlist($ftp_connection, $path); echo "<table border=1><tr><td>File Name</td><td>File Size</td><tr>"; for($index = 0; $index < sizeof($file_list); $index++) { echo "<tr>"; $file_size = ftp_size($ftp_connection, $file_list[$index]); $file_name = $file_list[$index]; if ($file_size == -1) { echo "<td><a href=browse.php?page=" . $path . $file_name . ">" . $file_name . "</a></td><td><b>Folder</b></td></tr>"; } else { echo "<td>" . $file_name . "</td><td>" . $file_size . "</td></tr>"; } } ftp_close($ftp_connection); I'm fairly tired so I will sleep on the problem and check back in the morning (it may just be because I'm tired I cant think of a solution) I think ive explained it the best I can this is my first post so any help would be appreciated Is it possible to feed the browser a default save as name for the image when outputting to the browser, instead of it defaulting to the .php file name? So, instead of myimage.php I could use imagename.jpg or whatever I want. Hi guys, im having a problem, in my phpfile were is generated the action code form the contacts form is giving me a lot of trouble, im receiving a lot of blank emails, first i thiked was bots,im usign a captcha, but then i notice another thing, when i put the name of the file that generates the action in the browser this loads it and send it the black email. How can i prevent for my php action file to dont be loadit in the browser? Here is the code to you guys have a idea <?php $datahora = "DATA: <B>" . date("d/m/y - H:i:s") . There are three main tasks that it needs to do: 1. Directory.php(index page) has a "First Name" and "Last Name" field and a search button. When a name is searched from the directory.txt file, it displays First Name, Last Name, Address, City, State, Zip and phone in findinfo.php in designated text boxes...first name, last name, etc. 2. From the findinfo.php, like previously stated, the users information is listed in the appropriate text boxes. From there, there is an update button that will overwrite the user's information to directory.txt if that button is selected. It will then say the write was sucessful. 3. (completed this step) From the index page, there is a link that will take you to addnew.php where you enter First Name, Last Name, Address, City, State, Zip and phone in a web form and write it to directory.txt. This is the php code for the third step: <?php $newentryfile = fopen("directory.txt", "a+"); $firstname = $_POST['fname']; $lastname = $_POST['lname']; $address = $_POST['address']; $city = $_POST['city']; $state = $_POST['state']; $zip = $_POST['zip']; $phone = $_POST['phone']; $newentry = "$firstname $lastname\n\r $address\n\r $city, $state $zip\n\r $phone\n\r"; if (flock($newentryfile, LOCK_EX)) { if (fwrite($newentryfile, $newentry) > 0) echo "<p>" . stripslashes($firstname) . " " . stripslashes($lastname) . " has been added to the directory.</p>"; else echo "<p>Registration error!</p>"; flock($newentryfile, LOCK_UN); } else echo "<p>Cannot write to the file. Please try again later</p>"; fclose($newentryfile); if(empty($firstname) || empty($lastname) || empty($address) || empty($city) || empty ($state) || empty($zip) || empty($phone)) { echo "<p>Please go back and fill out all fields.</p>"; } ?> So to sum it all up, what would be my best approach? I am totally stumped and not sure which function to use. Should I work my way from step 1 to step 2? I see it as when I do the search for the name from directory.php, it takes me to findinfo.php, listing the users information in the text boxes. From there, if I needed to, having the user's information already listed I could hit the update button to overwrite the new information to directory.txt. Doing the update when then tell me that the write was successful. I have literally been scouring the internet for hours. What would be the best function to do this? I hope I was clear enough. Please help me out and thank you for your time. Hi, I am writing several scripts and some are used to amend extra information to a text file. However, I added a hyperlink to the text file so that the user can go back to a page where they can add extra information. However, since I have done this every time I amend more text to the text file, the extra text appears below the hyperlink rather than above it, and I was wondering if there was a way around this. My amend code is as follows: Code: [Select] <html> <head> <title>Amend File</title> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" a href="rcm/stylesheet.css"> </head> <?php if($_POST['append'] !=null) { $filename="C:/xampp/htdocs/rcm/denman2.txt"; $file=fopen($filename, "a"); $msg="<p>Updated Information: " .$_POST['append']. Here is the specification: I have a photo editing business with many people working in Photoshop. I am currently developing a web based application (joblist) using Javascript and PHP which should allow the photoshop designers to browse and open files/images directly from joblist/web browser into photoshop. The reason I want this instead of browsing folder is that I have a database where I store who worked on which file, when and how long it took. The concept is that, designers will select a file and click on start, as soon as they click on start the original file will open in Photoshop and there will be an entry into database (using PHP). Once they finish the task they will close the file and click on Finish button. My joblist application will be published in a local server and the file will be open on a local network, so when they save the file it will be saved where the source file is located in (local server). The application should work in both PC and Mac. I have already done all other part of the application except file opening directly from browser to desktop application functionality. Anybody can help me to write the code (PHP or Javascript) which can open the file from browser (local server) directly into desktop application e.g. PHotoshop or Illustrator? Thank you very much I look forward to someone's real help! Best regards Mr. Sumon Hi, I am trying write the contents of a php file's output, which echos out a small output of text based on variables and calulations, to a single file. I have tried fwrite and file_get_contents. When I run my code I get the file to create but the file it creates only outputs "1". Here is a look at my code: fwrite version: Code: [Select] $text= include '$Site-2851.php'; $file = fopen("myfile.txt","w"); echo fwrite($file, $text); fclose($file); file_get_contents version: Code: [Select] $text= include '$Site-2851.php'; $file = 'myfile.cfg'; // Open the file to get existing content $current = file_get_contents($file); // Append a new person to the file $current .= $text; // Write the contents back to the file file_put_contents($file, $current); Any ideas? |
