PHP - Function Wont Echo Anything

Hi

I am trying to use the nl2br function like this

However the output just looks like the attached picture.

When I check in the sql db I can see the line breaks when doing a select * from Table ;

 

I want the login script to echo out a statement, and then after 5 seconds (if the user hasn't clicked the link manually) I want it to redirect with the header redirect. I'm using the sleep function for the delay of the redirect. Here's the concerned portion of the login script:

But the echo statement never gets printed out, any idea why it gets swallowed by the sleep function?

i am including a function in my main script, and i'm calling it aftwerwards. except i cannot echo successfully the data in the $result variable, why?

i have ran get_included_files and the include is being made successfully.
i read on php.net and these are the examples they use (user comments!)
how do i get the data out of the function and echo it, using this way?

I'm trying to echo the response from an SLA query, the query works and returns the data when I test it on an SQL application.. but when I run it on my webpage it won't echo the result.

Please help?

I have a log system that allows 10 logs on each side(Left and right). I am trying to make it so that the left side has the 10 most recent logs, then the right as the next 10. Any ideas?

So I need to echo a row from my database with php, but where i need to echo is already inside an echo. This is my part of my code:

Hi   I try to echo out random lines of a html file and want after submit password to whole content of the same html file. I have two Problems. 1st Problem When I echo out the random lines of the html file I don't get just the text but the code of the html file as well. I don't want that. I just want the text. How to do that?

I tried instead of "file("$filename.html");" "readfile("$filename.html");" But then I get the random lines plus the whole content. Is there anything else I can use instead of file so that I get the random lines of text  without the html code?P.S file_get_contents doesn't work either have tried that one.     2nd Problem:   As you could see in my first problem I have a file called $filename.html. After I submit the value of a password I want the whole content. But it is like the program did forget what $filename.html is. How can I make the program remember what $filename.html is? Or with other words how to get the whole content of the html file?   My code:

hi guys hope some1 can help. 

im creating a system that will allow stock to be added to a database and modifed.  However on the add section, nothing adds it only inputs a new id row in the database and the other fields are blank.   Can anyone have a look for me

Hey all, I have an odd problem that I hope someone here has had and knows how to fix.

I recently installed Apache, PHP, and MySQL on a new server we have at work. Everything works fine, oddly enough, except for PHP parsing.

You see the following code:

Will display the PHP code, while

echo "test";
?>

Will echo "test". The problem seems to be that PHP isnt parsing the <? directive as a start command. Does anyone have any idea why this might be?

Ok, I am a complete noob when it comes to php. I am slowly learning it but I turned to youtube for a tutorial on a registration/login page. I found a good tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngqeWUIDlnk&feature=channel but for some reason my php is NOT working. I have it exactly the way he does but it wont echo anything or work at all. The login page worked great in his tutorial. What do I have wrong? I cant figure it out. Please help!
