PHP - Sending A File To The Printer?

Hello one and all,

Just a quick request here, I've written a script that sends an email with an attached file by the user. (docx, txt, pdf, doc, rtf) are the formats I have accepted. At the moment I'm sending them with the following...

It works fine with all formats in older email clients, i.e, like yahoo before they updated the layout, but in the newer versions it's specific and if I try to send it this way it is always delivered as a .PDF and doesn't open if it is any of the other formats.

It may sound silly but I've searched a fair bit for the other extensions or formats to include instead of the above code (maybe something like application/doc or something) but there doesn't seem to be a list.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

my client changed their mind, and wants a field in the database that toggles to 'printed' if they've printed. I had a simple javascript that generates a button: Code: [Select]

But I'm assuming I ought to do this with php  - or would it be jquery? , so that when they click the button, I can do a query update to the database. But I  can't find any tutorials on it. Searching for it, just brings up the php command, "print" grrr.

From our website we are connecting to GMAIL to send our emails through SMTP. For some reason it is not sending the emails to the CC or BCC email address event though GMAIL shows it was included in the email. Am I missing something in the below code?

Hi, I have been searching all day but can't find a solution to this using PHP.


Basically were developing a CRM at work and wish to be able to print letters remotely using PHP.


We have a printer equipped with a network card and I want to be able to fire requests to a socket listener port and have it print template documents depending on the request.


So far all I've found is something called Line Printing Terminal which apparently can be called from command line as far as I understand.


My boss has currently had me code a VB.NET script with two browser windows and it refreshes every 30 seconds, gets a url from a div element in the page and prints the webpage but I don't like this way, I think it's a sloppy hack and wastes bandwidth.


Like I say, ideally I would like to fire requests at a port via the printservers IP address but we could have the printer set as default on the server on which the printing script would run.


Any help/advice or resources would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to print an image to a thermal POS printer from a PHP script. I have managed to get a text file to print by saving it to a file and copying to the USB port and that works fine.

Am running PHP on Windows.

Would appreciate any assistance.

I hope it is possible to establish, what I am going to ask Currently I am using a site where I am entering a xml code, that is sent to certain workflow. That workflow returns me a few csv files within the same http session. So simply, there is a page with the TEXTAREA - where i enter xml code and subsequently I click on the Submit button. After that the new page is opened where I have links to csv files. I wonder if would be possible to establish that using php code. I would like to run everything in background, sending xml code to that workflow and get those files. Everything without opening that site, entering xml code, submitin that ,and clicking on each link to download those files. I am not looking for exact answer. Just if you can tell me where I can start. My php knowledge is not great, but I have written a few things so far. So if you can help where to start, I would be more than happy

May be I am doing wrong in "$to" function as $sender_email is at previous form, So how can I use Session here? If I am wrong here?

What is happening is the incoming mail is coming in to me and to the user from "forum@domain.co.uk" but from my ISP domain?

After lots of searching I have come up with the answer that I should be using "PHP mail() and SMTP Authentication" ?

Is this the case and if so how do I set up SMTP Authentication as I am new to php!!!!!

Hey guys,
Coding something for a survey as no solution exists for our needs. I have not finished the code as I still need to do error checks + making it spam proof. Anyway I am not reciving the email even though it says that I have been sent it.

I am creating a site which allows the registration of new users. I already have my user registration page up and running which is lnked to my database.

I would now like to add a function which will send a 'welcome to...' email to the email address provided on the registration form provided by the new user.

I have found it a bit strange recently how i stopped receiving online emails from my website, we havnt changed the code as far as i am aware. but for some reason neither the user or staff receives an email
