Hi, I have a new website I have been working on for the past 6 months supposed to be going live on Jan 1st. It is my first attemp at a home made CMS and I am now in BETA stages, my testers have mentioned that my image upload script is not perfect. At the moment my images simply upload with no alterations. What they have suggested and I agree is that the images should be resized on upload and have unique names. I have tried to do both but failed. I have managed to change the name of the image that is being uploaded by putting random numbers on the end but the name that is stored in the table is the original name and I can't get it to add the random numbers on the end. The other task I totally failed at and have been working on all week and broke my code so bad I have now reverted back to square one. Could someone please help me to add image resize on upload and to put the new image name into my table, I wld be most greatful. Thanks in advance for your time.

how would i setup special date blocks in date search?
for example easter this year is 17-04-2011 to 25-04-2011

for these dates each night will have an extra charge for it

now if a user checks 13-04-2011 to 18-04-2011 he will have 4 days of special charge

Hi all,
I'm trying to get a search box and a checkbox to both work at the same time. I have two versions of this code, when I use the first one my checkbox works like it should, filtering out all records with product_type = 3, but the search bar no longer works as it should, filtering things out of three fields defined elsewhere. The bottom code has the search bar working but doesnt incorporate the checkbox as a filter. Thanks for any help!

Hi all, I'm trying to set up a situation where a function loops through a multidimensional array and echos an html block for each item in the $skus['skunum'] array and also increments $i each time . ( Each is a product on the site)   
The catch is that I'm trying to have a function within that one that goes through the $skus['sizes'] and echoes an option if the substring (shirt size) exists.

The idea being that I can manage products by adding 4 elements, Skunum, name, price and size.

And well, I'm failing miserably. 

At this point it won't even work because of the variable scope, I'm getting Notice: Undefined variable: skus
from the functions, but am not sure of the right way to get that information.

Am I going about doing this entirely wrong or am I on the right track?

I faced some problem or a message that out when i working on my admin/index.php file that i do it from dreamweaver and display it at firefox but that result showing me Antiphishing Filter and Antimalware Filter things at my admin/index.php page.. Here the screenshot of it.. it only appear at the admin/index.php.. and it didnt appear at the index.php since i have 2 users type that are student and the admin/index.php is for admin access..    

I am trying to wrap my head around the best approach to accomplish this.   I am trying to come up with a random schedule for a full 24 hour day with random time periods ranges including breaks. The only constants will be the minimum time and maximum time of the events and the minimum and maximum time of the breaks between each event.   for example There are three teams Team A Team B Team C   Each event will last either a minimum of 7 minutes to a maximum of 38 minutes The breaks will last a minimum of 30 seconds to a maximum of 5 minutes.   so the events need to be generated randomly with a break period following each event and the timelines are different for each team with the current event time left going to  a timer on the page   I think I have the part to generate the random blocks figured out by using

bur is there a way to make it fill a full 24 hour period and then a way to determine which block to display based on the current time when either team is viewing the page.   Sounds totally confusing to me as I try to explain it so I hope what Im asking makes sense. Thanks for any guidance..          

I am pretty new to PHP and am trying to create a simple (so I assumed) page to takes data from one html page(works fine) and updates a MYSQL Database.  I am getting no error message, but the connect string down to the end of the body section is showing up as plain text in my browser window.  I do not know how to correct this.  I have tried using two different types of connect strings and have verified my names from the HTML page are the same as listed within the php page.  Suggestions on what I need to look for to correct would be great.  I have looked online, but so far all I am getting is how to connect, or how to create a comment, so I thought I would try here.

Originally the data comes from ~2-3 database tables, of course. But to ilustrate the point, this is how the main array looks like. This array usually contains anywhere between 10-50 rows, each row containing at least 10 dates, with 10 key/values each.   And after setting up all the data, it needs to be processed. Currently this is how a friend of mine did it..

Obviously this isn't good practise, but we can't seem to figure out a better way of doing it, since both the data and the loops are horribly nested.   This loop and setup of $firstArray is run anywhere between 10-20 times/request, due to amount of users we wish to process. So, the result is that this code can take up to over 2-3 minutes to complete, which isn't really optimal performance.   In short my question is, are there any better methods of handling this with the data setup we currently have?

Now where it says course mark above it says 70. This is incorrect as it should be 65 (The average between the module marks percentage should be 65 in the example above) but for some stange reason I can get the answer 65. I have a variable called $courseMark and that does the calculation. Now if the $courseMark is echo outside the where loop, then it will equal 65 but if it is put in while loop where I want the variable to be displayed, then it adds up to 70. Why does it do this.

I think the problem is that it is outputting the answer of the calculation only for the first session mark. How in the while loop can I do it so it doesn't display it for the first mark only but for all the session marks so that it ends up showing the correct answer 65 and not 72?

I have a foreach loop (for use in a mysql query):

   foreach ($interests as $interest) {

   }

problem is i do not want the comma(,) in the last loop.

Is there some kinda of function i can use so it does not insert it on last loop?

Or should i just use a for loop with a nested if loop? something like ;

   for($i=0; $i < count($interests); $i++){
      $query .=
      "($id, '$interests[$i]')";
      if($i + 1 < count($interests)) {
         $query .= ", ";
      }
      }

I am working to echo the results in a while or for loop... Both of my sample codes work, but the results are wrong!

The while loop ONLY echos a result IF the first record in the postings table matches the id passed (does not display a result unless the first record has a match)

The if loop displays ALL listings with the same name (counts them all) so there are no unique listings!

Good Evening -  I am in the process of trying to call back a list of categories and sub categories using a WHILE LOOP inside of a WHILE LOOP. It works on a different part of the site within the admin panel but not here. Here it only calls one sub category and moves on to the next parent category instead of finishing the loop and pulling all sub categories out...

A WHILE loop in a FOR loop problem

Script about links and sublinks from 1 table.

In fact 2 questions about that.
1) In the FOR loop I have for example to do the loop 3 times. (needs to find 3 results withing the loop with if and else)
When first time, he's gonna search within the WHILE loop that holds (for example) 10 records of the DB in a variable.
He needs to search for rowid number 5, he found it
He goes out of the WHILE loop and goes searching again but now for rowid number 2
 
Now it seem that the WHILE loop start searching for number 2 but won't start from his first row in the variable (10 rows from the db ).
He start at row number 6 instead of beginning all over again !!!

-> so the order of the numbers of rows MUST be in an ascending order, ortherwise he won't find them all ! But the numbers I have are NOT in an ascending order !!!
Why doesn't the WHILE loop begin again from his row 1 in the variable ?

2) even when I get all the result in an ascending order, he won't go doing a second search but with a different rowid number that he gets from the FOR loop.
It is giving me back indeed the right new rowid number,  but the WHILE loop is doing nothing.

So I have a PHP parent page that is accesses that scans the database for the passed token in the URL and then replaces content on the template page using a loop. My issue is that I am trying to use a loop on the secondary page which causes the white screen of death. From what I can tell the loop inside a loop is causing the issue.
I'll paste the code below, let a newbie know if you have any ideas or can point me in the right direction.
