PHP - Having Trouble Debugging A Mysqli Error

I'm having some trouble running some mysql statements through mysqli. I've tried to debug them various ways, but to no avail. Is there a problem with the syntax of the predefined query in $statement->prepare('SELECT * FROM users WHERE ? = ? AND ? = ?') ? I really can't seem to find the problem in this code. There are no errors returned. The output from the print_r() statements are Code: [Select] Array ( [0] => Name [1] => Trey [2] => Password [3] => ...snip... )from the first print_r and Code: [Select] -1from the second. And lastly, I know that DIY login systems are generally discouraged, but this is more of a research project. I would greatly appreciate any help with this. Thanks. So I'm not very familiar with using mySQLi, but I'm wanting to print a user's last name, depending on which user is logged in (obviously it needs to be their last name and not another users)
So, we're getting the session for the user and saving their username as $username

And then my query to display their lastname?

I closed everything down last night and it was all fine, website was working as normal etc, but I've turned on the Xxamp server today and I am getting this error. Seems very random as nothing has changed since it was last on? Does anyone know how to sort this out and why I'm now getting this error? Briefly, let me know: A). Which connection error checking point to use and which error message echoing point to use. B). If you got your own that is better and more helpful then explain why it is better over these 3 and any others. Hi, I have taken the step of writing my site in MySQLi instead of MYSQL as advised. However, I had a script that I got off the internet, the original file works great and registers the user to the database. However the edited version of the script, where I have added more information such as the users address etc, no longer works. I have compared the two files and can't seem to find the problem. When the script is run, it skips all the registration part and jumps to the last error in the script saying 'You Could Not Be Registered Because Of Missing Data.'. All the variables match the column names in the database.

Error reporting is switched on, I just cant see the problem. Any help is much appreciated :)
Sets up a mysqli connection script which I retrieve with included. If a user enters the wrong password or username then the connection to the database will be interrupted, and a message will be given about this. I want to do this in a different way. I want the .php connection script to work so that the script lets me or the ser know if it is the password that is incorrect or the username that is not authenticated. This way the user can find out if he / she has entered the wrong password or username. If both are incorrect, notice of this will be given. connection file is a fairly standard script. I have no clue about how to solve this problem. Is it posible at all? Do you know how to do it?

I have an error in the update, but I am not seeing where I made it. Its annoying because the update won't execute and anything beyond the update isn't visible in the html source code in the browser, so it is likely to be a syntax error, but where?

I have an error in the update, but I am not seeing where I made it. Its annoying because the update won't execute and anything beyond the update isn't visible in the html source code in the browser, so it is likely to be a syntax error, but where?

Without parsing the message you will not be able to determine what column is duplicated.While parsing the error code, I have also notice that, if you have multiple unique fields as duplicates, only the first duplicate encountered will be returned in the message. This is not very helpful to the end user.
Is there any way to parse the returned error code to reflect all duplicate fields, please see sample code below?

(no webserver or html involved and php cli is already setup and running scripts on the linux box). If this (using PhpEd and Eclipse on the notebook to remotely debug) is not possible can you please suggest me how do i debug those scripts while i am on the linux server (using command line etc.). please help me how to set up. regards, kali I am just starting my first solo web project in a new language (php) and since I don't have my old boss to go to for code help I need to build a stronger set of debugging strategies or at least a set of debugging strategies that goes beyond echo $varthatmightbegivingmetrouble . I'm getting a '500 Internal Server' and 'Premature end of script headers..' errors in the process of uploading a file. This occurs consistently with files > 2MB but also (very occasionally) w/ smaller files. The target directories are beneath the web root folder, so I don't think it's a permissions issue. I've set the following in my php5.ini: post_max_size = 8M, upload_max_filesize = 8M max_input_time = 360 max_execution_time = 360 Trace code/logging reveals that the error occurs even before my upload code is entered (which uses (move_uploaded_file()). So what would cause that? Any suggestions on how to debug this are very much appreciated! I'm a beginner. I should debug my code from the webserver. When i use arrays and get some error, i generally make "var_dump" or "print_r" to check my data contents. Most of the time, by echo'ing, i can get the errors with related to structure of arrays etc. But when dumped file is too big, webserver crashes. I use shared hosting, so it becomes problem. For example Code: [Select] $html = file_get_html( 'http://www.example.com' ); var_dump($html);I suppose, PHP runs it very long and reserved memory, RAM etc. becomes exhausted.
