PHP - Using Variables Inside An Included File, Oop Related.
Hello. Trying to learn MVC better by creating my own little framework to understand how it works.
Things were going OK til now. The first script would kick up an error that there is a problem with file include_file.php as line 3 or what ever the line may be. How can I have it so I can choose what the error message is, say a cryptic code and the line number without having the file names show as this is showing up my hidden includes folder and the file name which means that someone may try to visit this page alone and this can cause security issues. Adding in extra lines to every file to see if it is being use correctly a bit like sessions is not an option although I have looked at it as I have houndreds of files to alter in this case. Main script gets class information from a database and prints them so long as the class start date or end date is after today (actually includes today).
Main script calls "instructors.php". It queries another database based on the instructor name ($chef) and then prints the bio information for that instructor.
"instructors.php" works fine on it's own, when I add "$chef = "Chef Name" ("Chef Name" is in the Instructors database). When it's called from the main script, nothing shows up in that area - even though "Chef Name" is in the database. All of the other data is printed fine, just not anything from instructors.php. I verified that it's actually including the file, as I can add "echo "test";" to the top of instructors.php and it prints fine in the main script.
Any ideas of what I'm missing?

Hello, In m script, I need to get the content of another php file as a string, including the content of all the files which are included in it and in lower levels. Any idea how to do it? I tried output buffer+include but it doesn't get the content of the included files. Thanks I have a snippet of code like this below. If I have it directly on my page, it works fine. But if I move this snippet of code into an include file and use "require_once('thefile.php');", the code no longer works properly. How is that possible? FYI, this snippet is in the middle of a for loop on the regular page. Maybe you can't use includes when in a loop? I don't know. Makes no sense that it works when on the page, but not when included using require once. Any thoughts how this could be possible? I imagine there is some rule with include files that I'm missing??? Okay, I'll make this short and sweet, and all side comments are irrelevant. I'm doing this for my own happies So using Facebook.com's API you can extract all of a specific user's friends in an array. Well I'm making a array check to see who on that users friend list was removed or deleted them that week using array_dif(); in this method: 1) User allows the application 2) Application catches the user's friends_id's in an array and stores them // this is where i'm having trouble, i'll come back to it 3) User then waits a few days and notices their friend count is no longer 400, it's now 399! 4) User logs into my application, and checks the previously uploaded array against their current array of friends. Okay now to the part i'm struggling with is, what would you do? Should i store them each uniquely in a database? Because some users have 4,000+ friends and that gets quite strenuous. OR! Should i save them into a txt file unique to that person's user_id. I kind of like the 2nd option, however it's less ( to my newbish mind ) customizable versus the sql_queries. Some users don't get them, and I have determined it is probably because we are marked as spam.
We are a service that grades sales team members on their phone skills. Listening to pre-recorded calls, grading and uploading them to our site, and then another part of our business looks them over and sometimes leaves a message that then get's forwarded to this persons work email.
I have determined there is ways to get marked as spam as default by not having an opt out link. This is not an option, these sales members employer has opted in, and the emails are going to work related accounts hosted at that employer. Also, if one of these staff members is not so bright, or disgruntled they may mark us as spam anyways. The bottom line is that we have very little control over whether we are or are not marked as spam.
So we want to start looking into sending text messages and this is where I start to question how good of an idea this is.
First off, if it was me, and the messages where being sent to a device that my employer did not provide, I would in no way want work related text messages coming to me. Unless there is a vested interest in getting them. IE, I'm the boss at this place and am always on the clock. What if you are on the bottom? It's just a job for you.
What if it is a pre-paid device, text messages cost money. What then? What if they don't even have, or want a cell phone?
The short of it is this. If I'm at a job that is just another job, and this employer tells me that I have to get these messages. I'm going to look for another job. I see the organizations having continuous issues and complaints from their employees. Thus us as a business having issues keeping clients.
What am I getting into here? What are your opinions on this matter? What are your recommendations as to alerting users of something on our site that we can rest assured are being received 100% of the time?

"</td></tr>" . chr(13); }}}}The search criteria would come from a second txt file with every line containing 2 numbers, separated by a comma: Code: [Select] foreach ($lines as $member => $numbers) { $exploded = explode(",", $numbers); $find = $exploded[1]; FindMember();here $exploded[1] corresponds to $membernumber[$key], so this is where I would call the function, but this is where I run into trouble, nothing gets returned. Does this have something to do with the scope of variables inside a user-defined function? I'd appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction. TIA |
