PHP - Anchors And Variables
Is it possible to pass variables through #anchors for example <a href="#edit?id=xxx"> and if so how? Similar TutorialsI did some googling and it seems you cannot include a file with an anchor: i.e include "hello.php#foo"; How do you guys go back to the middle of the page of an included file? Do you just not include files with anchors? I wanted to run my entire site inside index.php and just use includes to diplay the appropriate file, but I also need anchors to go to the middle of the page on some of those files. Dear members, I have a self-inflicted problem but i do not know of a proper solution. My site is a subscription based members only website. Some pages are protected pages while others are low security accessible pages. This means that low-security pages only check the session for login. An example of low-security is a news article or press release. PHP on low-security pages just checks the session to see if the user is a logged in member. The low-security pages are accessed via standard hyperlinks with a constant address (e.g., place.ext/News). Protected pages, on the other hand, are hidden behind a post form which utilizes prg to send the request to the index page (place.ext). The requests are analyzed for tokens, timestamps, referrer, ip address etc. the user is checked in the database and the session data is compared to verify user login status etc. Such a design prevents me from using anchor names to jump to specific places in the page (place.ext#jumplink). I am trying to figure out a way to still use named anchors. I think that a session variable can be used to store the anchor name for jumping. Then i wonder if i could use javascript to actually make the jump? (document.location perhaps?) is there someway to use php for this task besides a session variable? has anyone done this before? i cannot think of a simple solution. Thabk you and Best Wishes. does anyone know how to decode this XML variable value into string values? I also need to know the oposite way: creating variable values into xml. I've tried several code examples but they did filter the requested data. I have some code which needs to return a single variable from the function and stored as a variable within this page, so it can be echoed later on in the page. I couldn't get it to return as a variable, so i used "return compact();" to return the variable and "extract (myFunction());" to extract it to variables. However, when I turned on php's display errors and error reporting function, I got an error message saying "Warning: extract() [function.extract]: First argument should be an array in /my/web/site/index.php on line 6" (which is where my extract function is). This works fine with passing more than one variables through, is there another way pass one variable from a function to be stored as a variable on the page which called the function? Here is the function: Code: [Select] <?php //This is a list of numeric error codes against their text. this will return the error code as the variable $issue function checkLoginIssue() { //If there is an error code if (isset($_GET["issue"])) { //cycle through the list until the code is reached, return the text and break the switch switch ($_GET["issue"]) { case "1": $issue = '<p class="warning">Please log in to view this page</p>'; break; case "2": $issue = '<p class="warning">Wrong Username or Password</p>'; break; case "3": $issue = '<p class="warning">No user found with those details</p>'; break; } //return the variable in an array with a single value return compact('issue'); } } ?> And here is the code which calls the function: Code: [Select] <?php extract(checkLoginIssue()); ?> Hello I am stuck at a point where I need to call multiple numbers for a given API
This is the code provided by the API company
// Send Message
Now My html code would be
<div class="card-header ch-alt">
<div class="card-body card-padding">
<option value='APIKEY'>APIKEY Value </option> </select><br> <br><br>
Text: * <br>
Now how do I insert multiple numbers on the Destination number...when i give commas, it gives errors but the message goes with single number
Need hlp I'm running the latest version of MySQL on Windows 7 64-bit.
It working fine and set up correctly.
I'd like to use ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES or a variable like "%current_directory%" or "..\%current_directory%" in the configuration files for MySQL, my.ini.
Is this possible? Is my.ini a parsed file, can variables be define and used in it? Help would be much appreciated

Hi guys, I've a developer for a pretty large website and forum, the database is exploding in size and we are now seeing a grow in the slow log. We want to be able to fix this by optimizing query's but the site is so big, we can't locate the query's themselfs as they are dynamically generated. I want to be able to tail onto the end of the query a comment containing where a function was last called. In the example below, I want the file name and line-number of where add_together() was called. Here is an example for index.php: Code: [Select] $a = 1; $b = 2; $c = add_together($a, $b); function add_together($a, $b) { return $a + $b; } Look forward to your assistance with this! Joe Hello I need some help please, I've started to teach myself PHP and I'm attempting to set up some matches for a league I run. I've included the link I'm working on and just cannot seem to fix my problem. I'm trying to get it so that you can put the team members and have their names come up in the match section. by doing this i get syntax error, do u know whats the best way to do this? I've got a select statement that looks like this in php. Code: [Select] $sql = "Select * from inventory where ".$fields."".$operator."".$criteria; Everything posts correctly, everything is dereferenced correctly. My only question is how do I get $criteria have single quotes around it? So that when I actually run the query it says select * from inventory where field = 'value'; I've tried Code: [Select] $sql = "Select * from inventory where ".$fields."".$operator.""'.$criteria'; $sql = "Select * from inventory where ".$fields."".$operator.""'$criteria'; and a bunch of variations like that. Thanks for you help. Hi guys. I need to destroy a session when a user leaves a particular page. I tried using session_destroy() at the end of the page but its not possible, because my page has pagination. i.e. abc.php?page=1 etc... So, I need to destroy a session when a user leaves abc.php page. Thanks in advance Aidan What I would like to find out is how I can echo out all the variables that are in use in the visitors visit. And have these echoed on the page. (for error checking purposes) some of my variables i.e. $username or $email and a few others are being cleared of its content and I can not find any problems searching all the files for the variable name and checking the lines but think that some other variable is in turn causing theproblems. so wanting to find a way to place an echo line that shows all the variables and then have the next line exit; and just move these two new lines around my scripts to find out where the problems might be. Ok- I have seen it go both ways on this forum and I was wondering which is correct- or more secure. I have a script that receives $_POST variables from a form. Which is better- to change the name of the $_POST variable to do script manipulations or to simple do them with the $_POST['whatever'] $whatever = $_POST['var_from_form']; or simply utilize $_POST['var_from_form'] I know it would be less typing changing it to $whatever, but does it really matter? And yes- register_globals is off. Cheers- Hello All, In below script, I'm using another script called "SimpleImage.php" to upload and resize photos for a news site. The problem comes with renaming the photos. I need to name the photo based off of the story id. I have everything right to get the story id, but saving it as the variable is what's confusing me. Here's what I have: <?php include ("newsconnection.php");?> <?php $picturename = $_POST['newstoryid']; include('SimpleImage.php'); $image = new SimpleImage(); $image->load($_FILES['uploaded_image']['tmp_name']); $image->resizeToWidth(300); $image->save('$picturename'); ?> It's the $image->save('$picturename'); line that's messing me up. Any help would be great!! Hello all, So I've picked up a PHP book in an attempt to learn it. The issue I'm having is preventing me from getting any further. They have me creating a simple order form, but the data is not passing from the HTML page to the PHP Processing file. I know there are other ways of doing this that I'm unaware of, but this code is verbatam to what we are isntructed to type within the book itself. Here is the code orderform.html: Code: [Select] <html> <body> <form action="processorder.php" method="post"> <table border="0"> <tr bgcolor="#cccccc"> <td width="150">Item</td> <td width="15">Quantity</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Tires</td> <td align="center"><input type="text" name="tireqty" size="3" maxlength="3"></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Oil</td> <td align="center"><input type="text" name="oilqty" size="3" maxlength="3"></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Spark Plugs</td> <td align="center"><input type="text" name="sparkqty" size="3" maxlength="3"></td> </tr> <tr> <td>How did you find Bob's?</td> <td><select name="find"> <option value = "a">I'm a regular customer</option> <option value = "b">TV advertising</option> <option value = "c">Phone directory</option> <option value = "d">Word of mouth</option> </select> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" align="center"><input type="submit" value="Submit Order"></td> </tr> </table> </form> </body> </html> processorder.php: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Bobs Auto Parts - Order Results</title> </head> <body> <h1>Bobs Auto Parts</h1> <h2>Order Results</h2> <?php $tireqty = $_post['tireqty']; $oilqty = $_post['oilqty']; $sparkqty = $_post['sparkqty']; echo "<p>Order Processed at "; echo date('H:i, jS F Y'); echo "</p>"; echo '<p>Your order is as follows: </p>'; echo $tireqty.' tires<br />'; echo $oilqty.' bottles of oil<br />'; echo $sparkqty.' spark plugs<br />'; $totalqty = 0; $totalamount = 0.00; define('TIREPRICE', 100); define('OILPRICE', 10); define('SPARKPRICE', 4); ?> </body> </html> For some reason the values on the processing form dont show up. The only text thats displayed is : Bobs Auto Parts Order Results Order Processed at 17:07, 9th January 2011 Your order is as follows: tires <---- Should be showing the total quantity ordered bottles of oil <---- Should be showing the total quantity ordered spark plugs <---- Should be showing the total quantity ordered Is anyone able to let me know where the error is in this code? The writers website isnt any help.... Regards, sapper6fd Hi First post here. Long time reader! I'm looking to gauge the general practices of dealing with variables between pages. I'd always pass my variables through the POST. Im normally always doing a post back and processing the data at the top of the page. I never liked the query string as it open to manipulation, but can see its use for a search results page and saving the url. I came from a ASP background and we would only use session variables for holding user login information as the windows server had a habit of restarting the pool and loosing the session. We didn't want this happening, for example, when doing an e-commerce transaction. We always felt the post was the most robust method. Now Im using php and all the great features it has. I was looking to see what the more experience php developers used and am I right sticking to the post method, or is utilising session a more modern way of doing things. I've a few years experience doing web dev, just thought I touch base on a few issues to make sure I'm still heading in the right direction. Thanks for any advice guys! |
