PHP - Combining <text> And <input>
In a simple text field in a form....
the browser automatically offers a list, when either when you click in or start typing in the field, of previous entries. My question is: Does anyone know how to control this? Is it possible to give a list of values to the browser, sort of like a ajax search, but all sent before. For example; in one field the user must enter a name, i want the text box to offer name possibilities even before the user has entered any on the form previously... sort of combining the <text> with a <select> menu... with all the name possibilities coming from a mysql table Similar TutorialsHi people, I really hope you guys can help me out today. The next PHP Page asks if all the information is correct, with hidden inputs, and the values as the PHP settings, but wrapped in <?php ?> Example: <input type="hidden" name="user" value=<?php $user; ?> /> Will the above set the value of user to the PHP Value of $user? Hello, I have a script that displays that uses a while loop in php to display all of the records. For each record, I added an input text box with a button to update one of the fields in the record set. When I run the script only the first listing will update and the subsequent listings on the page will not update. Should I go about this set up differently? I would aprreciate your help guys, I have the auto suggestion script. While the user is typing, results are printed below (from the database). The results are printed with bold letters that are in the search. However, this leads to errors in capitalization. The letters are replaced by users' queries, instead of from the database. Example: Search word: PHP Results: PHPfreaks, PHP tutorials But in the database this is the records: "phpfreaks" and "php tutorials". This is a script that replaces search letters with bolded: Code: [Select] $search = clean($_POST["search"]); $fname=$row['name']; //Record from database $re_fname='<b>'.$search.'</b>'; //Replace with bold letter $final_fname = str_ireplace($search, $re_fname, $fname); How to do a script that bold letters, but as they were in the database, not from search input? Hi everyone. In the script below, I would like to have the input box for "Website" to have http:// already in that input field. So, people will see "Website:" and then in the input field it will have "http://" I'm a PHP novice, and I'm not sure how to do it. Thanks. Code: [Select] <?php $contact_form_fields = array( array('name' => 'Website:', 'type' => 'input', 'require' => 1), array('name' => 'Name:', 'type' => 'name', 'require' => 1), array('name' => 'E-mail:', 'type' => 'email', 'require' => 1), array('name' => 'Phone:', 'type' => 'input', 'require' => 0), array('name' => 'Service:', 'type' => 'select', 'require' => 1, 'default' => 'Select Desired Service', 'items' => array('Keyword Research', 'Search Engine Optimization', 'Link Building Services', 'SEO Web Design', 'SEO Copywriting', 'SEO Consulting', 'Conversion Optimization', 'Social Media and PR', 'Landing Page Optimization', 'Other')), array('name' => 'Budget:', 'type' => 'select', 'require' => 1, 'default' => 'Budget / Monthly', 'items' => array('$500-$1500', '$1500-$2500', '$2500-$5000', '$5000-$10000', '$10K +')), array('name' => 'Comments:', 'type' => 'textarea', 'require' => 1), array('name' => 'Turing number:', 'type' => 'turing', 'require' => 1, 'url' => 'contact-form/image.php', 'prompt' => 'Please enter the number displayed above'), ); $contact_form_graph = false; $contact_form_xhtml = true; $contact_form_email = "someone@somewhere.com"; $contact_form_encoding = "utf-8"; $contact_form_default_subject = "Sent from free SEO quote form"; $contact_form_message_prefix = "Sent from free SEO quote form\r\n==============================\r\n\r\n"; include_once "contact-form2/contact-form/contact-form.php"; ?> I have a register script, and I am wanting to make it so that if the username field contains, lets say "mod", "ass", and more, then it'll return an error and wont let them register. Hi, I am trying to limit an user's input based on a text area size which is 180px. Is this even possible? There are ways to read how many linebreak's (\n) there are in a text area, but a long sentence will read as one linebreak. Any Ideaas? Hello, I am attempting to create a script where a user puts a text string into a form and clicking on submit. Then it adds that text string to a mysql database and gives the user a link back to it. Something like mysite.com/key.php?id=4 and when going to that link it will display the text string from the database but printed in an image. I wrote something up but I cannot get it to work. I may be a little in over my head. Any help is appreciated.
The way I coded this all to work is the user inputs the information into index.php which givekey.php inserts that into the database. I have not yet figure out how to do this in one single step. After that I wanted it to navigate directly to key.php which would display the key and the link to that page with the ?key=XX attribute. getkey.php <?php require_once 'dbinfo.php'; // database connection $id = $_GET['id']; // do some validation here to ensure id is safe $link = mysql_connect($servername, $username, $password); if (!$link) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } @mysql_select_db($database) or die( "Unable to select database"); $sql = "SELECT ukey FROM keycode WHERE id=$id"; $result = mysql_query("$sql"); $row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result); mysql_close($link); header("Content-type: image/png"); echo $row['ukey']; ?> key.php <html> <head> <title>Your Key Is Ready</title> </head> <body> <img src="getkey.php?id=1" width="175" height="200" /> </body> </html>index.php <html> <head> <title></title> </head> <body> <section id="mid_section"> <div id="boxes"> <h1> Testing input key </h1> <br/> <form id="myform" action="givekey.php" method="post"> Key:<br /> <input type="text" value="ukey"> Source:<br /> <input type="radio" value="hb">HB<br /> <input type="radio" value="ig">IG<br /> <input type="radio" value="other">Other<br /> <button id="sub">Submit</button> </form> </body> </html>givekey.php <?php include_once('dbinfo.php'); $conn = mysql_connect($servername, $username, $password); $db= mysql_select_db($database); $ukey =$_POST['ukey']; $hb =$_POST['hb']; $ig =$_POST['ig']; $other =$_POST['other']; if(mysql_query("INSERT INTO `keycode`(`ukey`) VALUES ([$ukey]); INSERT INTO `source`(`hb`,`ig`,`other`) VALUES ([$hb],[$ig],[$other]);")) ?> Edited by chrisb302, 13 November 2014 - 12:18 AM. the idea on what im doing is like a converter, like showing what your name would look like with certain images per letter, when you input text (your name for example) and when you press the submit button you would get a series of images in a row that represent each character that you typed.
here is the example that i did...

This topic has been moved to JavaScript Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=319994.0 Hello Everyone, I am a noob at PHP so please forgive me if my code is wrong. I have a strong understanding of HTML and CSS just for the curious. Question: Write a program that formats a block of text (to be input by the user) based on preferences chosen by the user. Give your user options for color of text, font choice and size. Display output on a new page. I would greatly appreciate someone's help. The text is showing up but not according to the options selected. I know there is something wrong with the output page. Here is the Input Page (call it question4.php): <html> <head> <title> Please Enter Your Text</title> </head> <body> <form method="post" action="question4display.php"> <p>Enter the text you want formatted please: <input type="text" name="textformat" maxlength="30" size="30" /> <table> <tr> <td><label for="font">Select Font:</label></td> <td><select id="font" name="font"> <option value="Verdana">Verdana</option> <option value="Arial">Arial</option> <option value="Times New Roman">Times New Roman</option> </select> </td> </tr> <tr> <td><label for ="size">Select Size:</label></td> <td><select id="size" name="size"> <option value="10px">10px</option> <option value="12px">12px</option> <option value="14px">14px</option> <option value="20px">20px</option> </select> </td> </tr> <tr> <td><label for="color">Select Color:</label></td> <td><select id="color" name="color"> <option value="green">Green</option> <option value="blue">Blue</option> <option value="red">Red</option> </select> </td> </tr> </table> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Submit" /> </form> </body> </html> Here is the OUTPUT page (called it:question4display.php): <?php session_start(); $_SESSION['textformat'] = $_POST['textformat']; $_SESSION['font'] = $_POST['font']; $_SESSION['size'] = $_POST['size']; $_SESSION['color'] = $_POST['color']; ?> <html> <head> </head> <body> <p <?php echo ' style="font-family: ' . $_POST['font'] . '; '; echo 'font-size: ' . $_POST['size'] . '; '; echo 'color: ' . $_POST['color'] . '; '; ?> > <?php echo $_POST['textformat']; ?> </p> </body> </html> Hello All: Trying to work with PHP on a contact form with a jQuery Validation to make certain that the visitors fill out the required information. I'll try to show everything that I have, and then the error I am getting when the visitor hits "submit." I don't know PHP all that well, and trying to learn my way through it. I used a couple of tutorials to add the features I needed and did my own styling on the live site. Here is the PHP that is currently in the header of my markup: <?php //If the form is submitted if(isset($_POST['submit'])) { //Check to make sure that the First name field is not empty if(trim($_POST['firstname']) == '') { $hasError = true; } else { $firstname = trim($_POST['firstname']); } //Check to make sure that the Last name field is not empty if(trim($_POST['lastname']) == '') { $hasError = true; } else { $lastname = trim($_POST['lastname']); } //Check to make sure that the Street Address 01 field is not empty if(trim($_POST['street01']) == '') { $hasError = true; } else { $street01 = trim($_POST['street01']); } //If Street02 is filled out, give it a value $street02 = $_POST['street02']; //Check to make sure that the City field is not empty if(trim($_POST['city']) == '') { $hasError = true; } else { $city = trim($_POST['city']); } //Check to make sure that the State field is not empty if(trim($_POST['state']) == '') { $hasError = true; } else { $state = trim($_POST['state']); } //Check to make sure that the Zip field is not empty if(trim($_POST['zip']) == '') { $hasError = true; } else { $zip = trim($_POST['zip']); } //If Email is filled out, give it a value $email = $_POST['email']; //If Telephone is filled out, give it a value $telephone = $_POST['telephone']; //Default Subject Value $subject = "VMC Inquiry"; //Check checkboxes foreach($_POST['check'] as $value) { $check_msg = "Checked: $value\n"; } //If Message is filled out, give it a value $comment = $_POST['comment']; //If there is no error, send the email if(!isset($hasError)) { $emailTo = 'xxxx.xxxx@gmail.com'; //Put your own email address here $body = "Name: $firstname $lastname \n\nStreet Address: $street01 \n\nStreet Address*: $street02 \n\nCity: $city \n\nState: $state \n\nZip: $zip \n\nEmail*: $email \n\nTelephone*: $telephone \n\nCheck Box: $check_msg \n\nMessage:\n $comment"; $headers = 'From: XXXXX <'.$emailTo.'>' . "\r\n" . 'Reply-To: ' . $email; mail($emailTo, $subject, $body, $headers); $emailSent = true; } } ?> So basically I am using classes to say whether or not something is required, which ties into the jQuery validation. If it isn't required, whatever the visitor types into the box is put into something like "$telephone" which is then printed in the e-mail. The markup for the forms in the body is the following: Code: [Select] <p class="contact-text-right">For more information, or to have a list of our properties mailed to you, please fill out the form below.</p> <div id="contact-wrapper"> <?php if(isset($hasError)) { //If errors are found ?> <p class="error">Please check if you've filled all the fields with valid information. Thank you.</p> <?php } ?> <?php if(isset($emailSent) && $emailSent == true) { //If email is sent ?> <p class="accept"><strong><?php echo $firstname;?>,Your Email Successfully Sent!</strong></p> <?php } ?> <form method="post" action="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']; ?>" id="contactform"> <div id="names"> <label for="firstname"><strong>First Name:</strong></label> <input type="text" name="firstname" id="firstname" value="" class="required" /> <label for="lastname"><strong>Last Name:</strong></label> <input type="text" name="lastname" id="lastname" value="" class="required" /> </div> <div id="address01"> <label for="street01"><strong>Street Address:</strong></label> <input type="text" name="street01" id="street01" value="" class="required" /> </div> <div id="address02"> <label for="street02"><strong>Street Address*:</strong></label> <input type="text" name="street02" id="street02" value="" /> </div> <div id="city"> <label for="city"><strong>City:</strong></label> <input type="text" name="city" id="city" value="" class="required city" /> <label for="state"><strong>State:</strong></label> <input type="text" name="state" id="state" value="" class="required state" /> <label for="zip"><strong>Zip Code:</strong></label> <input type="text" name="zip" id="zip" value="" class="required zip" /> </div> <div id="email"> <label for="email"><strong>E-mail*:</strong></label> <input type="text" name="email" id="email" value="" class="email"/> <label for="telephone"><strong>Telephone*:</strong></label> <input type="text" name="telephone" id="telephone" value="" class="telephone" /> <p class="bottom">*Optional fields.</p> </div> <div class="checkbox"> <p><input type="checkbox" name="check[]" value="properties">XXX</p> <p><input type="checkbox" name="check[]" value="contact-regarding">XXXX</p> <p class="indent">(Please list properties or ask specific questions in the space below.)</p> </div> <div id="comment"> <label for="comment"></label> <textarea name="comment" id="comment" ></textarea> </div> <div id="button"> <input type="submit" value="Send Message" name="submit" /> </div> </form> All seems well until I hit submit on the live site. I think get this error returned to me: Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in ......./html/development/contact.php on line 64 The e-mail goes through, with all the information, no problems! I just can't get this error message to go away. Line 64 of contact.php is where the checkbox coding is: //Check checkboxes foreach($_POST['check'] as $value) { $check_msg = "Checked: $value\n"; } I know I've submitted a lot of code here, and tried to narrow you down to the exact spot I think the problem is, but hopefully some of you PHP gurus can pick out the flaw in a heartbeat. I really appreciate all the help. B Hi , im completely new to php and mysql. I have 2 websites running on the same server and im just wondering if there is a way that when someone logs into one of the websites that it will automatically log them in the other website as well so that they don't have to log in again. Maybe if you can point to some good beginner reading material or something that would be great.
