PHP - Checking Rows In Database Not Working
Hey I'm trying to check a row in my database to see if its empty but this isnt working
$usercheck = mysql_query("SELECT pet FROM users where name='$user'"); $returned_rows = mysql_num_rows($usercheck); if ($returned_rows == 0){ // do stuff if no pet }else{ echo 'There was ' . $returned_rows . ' records found.'; } The problem is its not checking the row pet its just checking to see if anything exists my database has id name pet 1 joe <empty> its just seeing joe and echoing "there was 1 record found" instead of seeing that the row pet is empty. thanks for the help Similar TutorialsOk guys, I am working on my code as I am checking the row in a database that if i have got a same row that I insert the functions in the URL then throw the error that says "you can't store". When I am checking as the rows have already exist, i keep getting "you can now store". Do you know how i can check in a database to see if the rows is exist? here's the code: Code: [Select] <?php session_start(); define('DB_HOST', 'localhost'); define('DB_USER', 'mydbuser'); define('DB_PASSWORD', 'mydbpass'); define('DB_DATABASE', 'mydbname'); $errmsg_arr = array(); $errflag = false; $link = mysql_connect(DB_HOST, DB_USER, DB_PASSWORD); if(!$link) { die('Failed to connect to server: ' . mysql_error()); } $db = mysql_select_db(DB_DATABASE); if(!$db) { die("Unable to select database"); } function clean($var){ return mysql_real_escape_string(strip_tags($var)); } $image = clean($_GET['image']); $strings = clean($_GET['strings']); $username = clean($_GET['user']); $password = clean($_GET['pass']); if (isset($_GET['user']) && (isset($_GET['pass']))) { if($username == '' || $password == '') { $errmsg_arr[] = 'username or password are missing'; $errflag = true; } } if (isset($_GET['image']) || (isset($_GET['strings'])) || (isset($_GET['user']))) { if($image == '' || $strings == '' || $username == '') { $errmsg_arr[] = 'image, strings or username are missing'; $errflag = true; } } if($errflag) { $_SESSION['ERRMSG_ARR'] = $errmsg_arr; echo implode('<br />',$errmsg_arr); } else { $insert = array(); if(isset($_GET['image'])) { $insert[] = 'image = \'' . clean($_GET['image']) . '\''; } if(isset($_GET['user'])) { $insert[] = 'user = \'' . clean($_GET['user']) .'\''; } if(isset($_GET['pass'])) { $insert[] = 'pass = \'' . clean($_GET['pass']) . '\''; if (count($insert)>0) { $names = implode(',',$insert); if($image && $strings && $from && $username) { $qry="SELECT * FROM members WHERE username='$username'"; $result=mysql_query($qry) or die('Error:<br />' . $qry . '<br />' . mysql_error()); $row=mysql_fetch_assoc($result); if ($row >= 1) { echo 'you cant store.'; } else { echo 'you can now store'; } } elseif($username && $pass) { echo "working 2"; } } } ?> Is there an alert method for the MySQL database or something similar?
What is the proper way to check if the MySQL database connection is working?
I mean other than "creating" and "retrieving" with "insert" and "select".
I wish to have a page that will display a form if there aren't already enough registrations in the database. The following it an outline of how it will be: <?php require_once "../scripts/connect_to_mysql.php"; //this works fine // Count how many records in the database (1) $sqlCommand = "SELECT * FROM teams"; (2) $sqlCommand = "SELECT COUNT (*) FROM teams"; (3) $sqlCommand = "SELECT COUNT (id) FROM teams"; $query = mysqli_query($myConnection, $sqlCommand) or die (mysqli_error()); (1) $numRegistrations = mysql_num_rows($query); //Count how many rows are returned from the query above (2) $numRegistrations = $query (3) $numRegistrations = mysql_num_rows($query); mysqli_free_result($query); ?> (Some HTML code, like DOCTYPE, head, start of body tags) <?php if($numRegistrations > 35){ echo "Sorry, registrations for this event is at it's maximum."; }else{ ?> <form blah blah blah> </form> <?php } ?> (end of body and html tag) You'll see above there is (1), (2), (3). These are the main 3 that I've been trying, and they match up the $sqlCommand to the $numRegistrations. What would be the problem with this code? I use wamp server to test, have been using it for ages. Chrome browser to test in. If I remove the database query, the rest of the page will load. With the query in there, only the HTML code up until the database query is parsed, so therefore nothing is display on the page. Please help. Thanks Denno Hello,
I am trying to check whether the values in rows are equal or same?
I have two tables orders and line_items. I will store more than 1 line items in line_items table with the same order_id getting from orders table. In line items if i have 3 line items for same order_id, when each line items gets dispatched i will set the status to 'Dispatched' in line_items table. When all the 3 becomes 'Dispatched', i will update the order status as 'Completed' in orders table.
Now i am not getting how to check whether all the 3 line items status id 'Dispatched'.
I tried doing like this
$q1 = "select orders.order_id, orders.item_status as istatus, orders.status as ostatus, orders.authorise, line_items.order_id, line_items.status as bstatus, COUNT(line_items.id) as bid from orders inner join line_items on orders.order_id=line_items.order_id where line_items.order_id=".$id." AND line_items.id<>'Dispatched'"; $q2 = mysql_query($q1); while($q3 = mysql_fetch_array($q2)) { echo $q3['bstatus']; if($q3['bstatus']==''); { echo "HELLLOOOO"; } }But its not working. It goes into if loop even if a single value is 'Dispatched' Please help me. php5.2, mysql server5.02: if record exists,append random digit to end of information in rows column then add to database If user mike already exists and another mike is trying to create a user id I would like to keep the old mike record like it is, then add a new mike record, but add a unique digit to the end of the name mike before the record gets added to the database as a new row. My question is: How to have this in ways, where the notice does not occur? Hello! I need to loop through a list of numbers and check if they are present in a column in a database or not. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to check the column value by value and compare to a incrementing $i value. here is my query... Code: [Select] $query2 = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM video"); $column = mysql_fetch_array($query2); echo $column2['cable_number']; this only echoes me the first ['cable_number'] in the database. i need to get every single one, and perform actions on each one as they come through. and here is my for() statement Code: [Select] for($i=100;$i<=$highest;$i++){ check if $i is in the database. if it is(do something) if it isn't(do something) } i need to use that $i each iteration and see if it's present in the 'cable_number' column in the database. then i do something and continue on with the next i$ value. Hello, I am trying to get this backlink checker that checks to make sure another website has my link on their website, so far I can check to make sure the "href" link is there and is correct, but I cant get the textContent to prove valid or not it seems to always be proving true even when the textConent is not in the mysql database. The other persons website will have this: <a href="http://businessinvestingsorce.com">Business Investing Source</a> I need to make sure Business Investing Source (the textContent) matches the anchor in the database. Here is my code: Code: [Select] <?php function CheckForAnchorMatch($anchortext) { $query = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM allowed_anchor WHERE anchor='$anchortext'"); if(mysql_num_rows($query) != 0) { return true; } return false; } function CheckForTargetUrl($links, $target) { foreach ($links as $link) { if (strpos($link, $target) !== false) { return true; } } return false; } function ExtractHrefLinks($html) { $dom = new DOMDocument; $linkUrls = array(); @$dom->loadHTML($html); $links = $dom->getElementsByTagName('a'); foreach ($links as $link){ $linkUrls[] = $link->getAttribute('href'); } return $linkUrls; } function ExtractAnchorText($html) { $dom = new DOMDocument; $AnchorTexts = array(); @$dom->loadHTML($html); $links = $dom->getElementsByTagName('a'); foreach ($links as $link){ $AnchorTexts[] = $link->textContent; } return $AnchorTexts; } function backlink_check($contenturl){ $url = 'businessinvestingsource.com'; $source = $contenturl; $falseFound = false; $html = file_get_contents ( $source ); $links = ExtractHrefLinks($html); if (CheckForTargetUrl($links, $url) === false) { $falseFound = "true"; $reportArray[$source] = 0; } else { $falseFound = "false"; } $html = file_get_contents ( $source ); $anchortext = ExtractAnchorText($html); if (CheckForAnchorMatch($anchortext) === false) { $falseFound = true; } else { $falseFound = false; } return $falseFound; } ?> Help greatly appreciated Probably a silly question, but say you have a value in a mysql database that (naturally) can be either be blank or have characters in it. If in my PHP I am doing a check to see if that returned field from the database HAS or DOES NOT HAVE a value entered in it, what is the proper way to do it? For example, you could do either of the following below (and I'm sure there are probably 10 other ways to do it as well). Is one of these quicker/more efficient than the other? I know it probably does not matter in the grand scheme of things because it's such a quick check either way, but if one way is more "proper" than the other, please let me know... I have added the code of my database table Code: [Select] CREATE TABLE `users` ( `id` int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `username` varchar(50) NOT NULL, `money` int(11) NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ) ENGINE=MyISAM AUTO_INCREMENT=23 DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8; And i have some rows like (1,peter, $94) (2,John,$16) .... .... .... .... .... i want to add those values (i.e their money) and shows like [ total money = $110]... I have done few queries like Code: [Select] SELECT id,SUM(money) FROM usersand Code: [Select] mysql_query("SELECT * FROM `users` SUM `money` WHERE id='$id'");But nothing seems to work out... Any help guysss.... Thanks in advance... I'm trying to delete rows in the database, based on what checkboxes are left empty by the user... What i have is small application in which a user can add an item to the database and give it tags... for example there is "apple" and it has the tags of "fruit, red, round" What i want is for the user to be able to edit those tags, so the user can remove "fruit" and add "sweet" instead or just remove "fruit" all at the same time. The code i have, somewhat works... This code below loops through the checkboxes and should remove the items that are no longer checked, by going through the database and grabbing all the tags and them checking it against those that are still checked and remove the ones that it didn't find checked...?? However whats happening is when i unchecked say "red" it removes all the other items..so if i had "red, fruit, round' and i want to remove "red" it leaves red but removes the rest. foreach($_POST['tag'] as $r=>$n){ $t = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['tag'][$r]); $get_tag2 = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM file_cats WHERE fileID='$fileID'") or die(mysql_error()); while($t2 = mysql_fetch_assoc($get_tag2)){ $tmp_tag1 = $t2['category']; if($t==$tmp_tag1){ $remove_tag = mysql_query("DELETE FROM file_cats WHERE fileID='$fileID' AND category='$t' LIMIT 1") or die(mysql_error()); } } } This following piece of code just adds a new tag...however i want it to check to see if that tags already exist in the database, if it does then don't add it just add the new ones.. foreach($_POST['tag'] as $k=>$l){ $tag = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['tag'][$k]); $add_tag = mysql_query("INSERT into file_cats (fileID, category) VALUES('$fileID', '$tag')") or die(mysql_error()); } My final problem is that i can't remove items if the second snippet of code is there, i have to remove those lines of code in order to remove items, however i can add items with both loops there. I'm basically stuck and hope that someone here can shed some light on what i'm doing wrong, because i know i'm doing something wrong i just can't find it Anyway thank you in advanced Sorry if this belongs in the MySQL section. I figured it might be more of a PHP thing. I have a database where rows each have a number, which is used to determine what order they appear in on my PHP page. But right now they aren't like 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. They are a little jumbled because of deleting some and changing some, so they're more like 1, 3, 7, etc. Is there a way to make them 1, 2, 3, 4 with PHP? Like, put them in order and number them accordingly? Thanks. Hello, Currently have an array like looks like the following when using print_r($session->items): Array ( [F1225] => 1 [EDS11147317] => 1 [1156D6RE001] => 1 [I111ADE47946] => 1 [S679AQ339] => 1 [S67914599] => 1 [CH111337631254] => 1 [S6787903647] => 1 [A11144O189] => 1 [F11144520] => 1 [121584Q12] => 1 [I11144661ADE] => 1 [S678829NB] => 1 ) I am trying to check if an item is in the array and if so, display a different result but currently every item says it is in the array when they are not (unless my logic is off...from the items I am looking at some should be included and some should not..but the below code is showing every item as having the same result). Example: foreach ($items as $item) { if (in_array($item->ItemID, $session->items)) { //$session->items is the array output above echo "In Array"; } else { echo "NOT in Array"; } } Currently everything say "In Array" when some should not. Am I using the in_array incorrectly? Thanks Everyone. Hi, I have created a table named multipath with database name "mydatabase".. I have created a table to store the data in the tables. I new to the php world and I'm only working with it for 5 days now. So I'm a noob
But I've got a good start atm, I already could connect a database with my webpage and show all my coloms I need.
Now I got a problem with the fact, my database is way to big to display on 1 page. To much load-time, so that's the reason why I want to split up all my products.
20 for each page, like in this tutorial: http://www.phpjabber...hp25.html?err=1
I think I'm almost there, my problem is that when I click on the number from the next page (like nr 5), it doesn't show my next 20 products.
But when I look to the url, that seems ok, because I get something like this; index.php?page=1
Can someone help me to find out, what I did wrong? And plz, remember, if you give me an answer, plz keep it short and simple. I'm a noob at this.
This is my code:
<?php include('connect-mysql.php'); if (!empty($_GET["page"])) { $page = $_GET["page"]; } else { $page=1; }; $start_from = ($page-1) * 20; $sqlget = "SELECT * FROM artikel, images LIMIT 0, 20 "; $sqldata = mysqli_query($dbcon, $sqlget) or die('error getting'); echo "<table>"; echo "<tr><th>A_ARTCODE</th><th>A_NUMMER</th><th>A_OMSCHRN</th><th>A_REFLEV</th><th>A_WINKEL</th><th>I_ARTCODE</th><th>I_FILE</th></tr>"; while($row = mysqli_fetch_array($sqldata)){ echo "<tr><td align='right'>"; echo $row['A_ARTCODE']; echo "</td><td align='left'>"; echo $row['A_NUMMER']; echo "</td><td align='left'>"; echo $row['A_OMSCHRN']; echo "</td><td align='left'>"; echo $row['A_REFLEV']; echo "</td><td align='right'>"; echo $row['A_WINKEL']; echo "</td><td align='right'>"; echo $row['I_ARTCODE']; echo "</td><td align='right'>"; echo $row['I_FILE']; //echo "<img src='000000-001000".$row['I_ID']."' />"; echo "</td></tr>"; } echo "</table>"; $sql = "SELECT COUNT(A_ARTCODE) FROM artikel"; $rs_result = mysqli_query($dbcon, $sql) or die ("mysqli query dies"); $row = mysqli_fetch_row($rs_result) or die ("mysqli fetch row dies"); $total_records = $row[0]; $total_pages = ceil($total_records / 20); for ($i=1; $i<=$total_pages; $i++) { echo "<a href='index.php?page=".$i."'>".$i."</a> "; }; ?>I hope someone can help me. Edited by GetAWeapon, 03 June 2014 - 07:25 AM. Hey everyone i having some trouble updating records in my databse using checkbox from a form. I can update the records, but i can't figure out how to remove records at the same time. I've posted the code that i'm using to update below foreach($_POST['tag'] as $k=>$l){ $tag = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['tag'][$k]); $check_tags = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM file_cats WHERE category='$tag'") or die(mysql_error()); $num_tags = mysql_num_rows($check_tags); if($num_tags==0){ $add_tag = mysql_query("INSERT into file_cats (fileID, category) VALUES('$fileID', '$tag')") or die(mysql_error()); } } This code inserts new records based on what the user checked. If it exist it won't add a new row, if it doesn't exist then it will add a new row. but like i said how can remove a row if the box is no longer checked? I've tried using foreach(empty($_POST['tag'] as $k => $l){ $tag = empty($_POST['tag']['$k']; } But that didn't work basically nothing was deleted. Has anyone done something like this before? if so i would appreciate any help you could give This is my registering script: <?php include('connectvars.php'); $user_email = strip_tags(trim($_POST['email'])); $firstname = strip_tags(trim($_POST['firstname'])); $lastname = strip_tags(trim($_POST['lastname'])); $nickname = strip_tags(trim($_POST['nickname'])); $password = strip_tags($_POST['password']); $repassword = strip_tags($_POST['repassword']); $dob = $_POST['dob']; $find_us_question = strip_tags(trim($_POST['find_us_question'])); if (isset($_POST['submit_signup'])) { if ((empty($user_email)) || (empty($firstname)) || (empty($lastname)) || (empty($nickname)) || (empty($password)) || (empty($dob))) { echo "Please fill out all the fields!"; } else { // check char length of input data if (($nickname > 30) || ($firstname > 30) || ($lastname > 30) || ($user_email > 50)) { echo "Your nickname, first- and/or lastname seem to be too long, please make sure you have them below the maximum allowed length of 30 characters!"; } else { // check password char length if (($password > 25) || ($password < 6)) { echo "Your password must be between 6 and 25 characters!"; } else { // encrypt password $password = sha1($password); $repassword = sha1($repassword); if ($password != $repassword) { echo "Please make sure your passwords are matching!"; } else { $dbc = mysqli_connect(DB_HOST, DB_USER, DB_PASSWORD, DB_NAME); $query = sprintf("INSERT INTO user (firstname, lastname, nickname, password, email, dob, doj) VALUES ('%s', '%s', '%s', '%s', '%s', '%s', now())", mysqli_real_escape_string($dbc, $firstname), mysqli_real_escape_string($dbc, $lastname), mysqli_real_escape_string($dbc, $nickname), mysqli_real_escape_string($dbc, $password), mysqli_real_escape_string($dbc, $user_email), $dob); mysqli_query($dbc, $query); mysqli_close($dbc); echo "You have been successfully registered!"; } } } } } ?> A bunch of nested if statements, the read-ability gets worse after a while, I'm new to programming so I don't know if there's a better more read-able solution. Anyway, every time I try to sign up it's printing out the echo message: "Your password must be between 6 and 25 characters!" Which derives from: // check password char length if (($password > 25) || ($password < 6)) { echo "Your password must be between 6 and 25 characters!"; } else { EVEN if I stay between 6 and 25 characters it's still printing out this error message, let's say I have a password of 8 characters, and I've entered everything else correctly, it's still giving me all the time this error message, and I can not figure out why. |
