PHP - Reservation Calendar Flow
hello everybody,
i would like to make a calendar that accepts only 5 reservations per day, thus i need to show how many empty slots are left for each day. When somebody picks a day then some info is filled up (and is written to database) and slot is decreased. I am not sure how to start for it.. I was thinking to put just a table in DB including the date. In printing dates function, when i print a date I make a query to the table on date field with sql count function in order to return how many reservations i have. What considers me is if I am doing it properly. because if i have about 200 reservations then 200 x 30 days x 12 months = 7200 queries. Of course if there is any similar script with what I am going to do i would be very pleased to hear about coz Im not going to reinvent the wheel. I have seen some open source scripts with colors and I was thinking to modify them in order to print slots left rather colors. Thank you in advance for any advice and recommendation. Similar TutorialsI posted about this a couple of days ago but I got things to almost work just need help with the coding. I barely know anything of php so really need the help if someone would be so kind. Here is the code and below I will post the problem. Code: [Select] <input type="text" class="tcal" value="" id="time" /> <img src="images/calendar_icon.png" width="21" height="16"></div> <div style="display:none"> <SELECT class="tcal" size="1" name="gg" id="gg"> <OPTION value="1">Jan</OPTION><OPTION value="2">Feb</OPTION><OPTION value="3">Mar</OPTION><OPTION value="4">Apr</OPTION><OPTION value="5">May</OPTION><OPTION value="6">Jun</OPTION><OPTION value="7">Jul</OPTION><OPTION value="8">Aug</OPTION><OPTION value="9">Sep</OPTION><OPTION value="10">Oct</OPTION><OPTION value="11">Nov</OPTION><OPTION value="12">Dec</OPTION> </SELECT> <SELECT class="tcal" size="1" name="mm" id="mm"> <OPTION value="1">1</OPTION><OPTION value="2">2</OPTION><OPTION value="3">3</OPTION><OPTION value="4">4</OPTION><OPTION value="5">5</OPTION><OPTION value="6">6</OPTION><OPTION value="7">7</OPTION><OPTION value="8">8</OPTION><OPTION value="9">9</OPTION><OPTION value="10">10</OPTION><OPTION value="11">11</OPTION><OPTION value="12">12</OPTION><OPTION value="13">13</OPTION><OPTION value="14">14</OPTION><OPTION value="15">15</OPTION><OPTION value="16">16</OPTION><OPTION value="17">17</OPTION><OPTION value="18">18</OPTION><OPTION value="19">19</OPTION><OPTION value="20">20</OPTION><OPTION value="21">21</OPTION><OPTION value="22">22</OPTION><OPTION value="23">23</OPTION><OPTION value="24">24</OPTION><OPTION value="25">25</OPTION><OPTION value="26">26</OPTION><OPTION value="27">27</OPTION><OPTION value="28">28</OPTION><OPTION value="29">29</OPTION><OPTION value="30">30</OPTION><OPTION value="31">31</OPTION> </SELECT> <SELECT class="tcal" size="1" name="aa" id="aa"> <OPTION value="2011">11</OPTION><OPTION value="2012">12</OPTION><OPTION value="2013">13</OPTION> </SELECT> </div> </td> </tr> </tbody></table></td> What happens is that it seems that the calendar and the select are separate things. It shows the calendar but when you choose the date is like if you didn't choose anything. I mean it shows up but when you click book the next page doesn't pick up the date you selected with the calendar. Hopefully that makes sense and someone can help. You can take a look at it he http://regencycountryclub.com/QuickReserve2.php Hello everyone, and thanks in advance for trying to help me. I'm an IT student in Rotterdam, and I've got a little problem here. It's probably basic to most of you guys, but I've only been working with php for the past 3 months or so. I'm making a website for some company, and they want a reservation system. I've created everything so far, except for the fact that you can actually double book. Can you guys tell me how to make sure you can't book a reservation when that time is used by another reservation? Preferably even, when making the reservation, the reserved times aren't even chooseable. In my database I have the current info: table: reservations id (PK, UQ, A_I) date (date) starting time (time example: 09:00:00) ending time (time example: 10:00:00) ~Some other random information needed by that company~ Now it doesn't need to come to minutes or seconds, you can only reserve for whole hours, from and untill the hour. I made the script that puts everything in the database and everything, I just need a little script on how to check if the time on the date you selected earlier (it's like a step system, step 1 select date, step 2 select time, step 3 fill in other random info) is already reserved, and to make sure the reserved times don't appear into the dropdown menu for the times. I hope you guys can help me. Hello, I am making an reservation script wich i cant seem to figure out how to get it too check that if 1 house is ordered in sertend time. that is doesnt double reserve it and after the period it can but it may book another house in the time the other is booked. Script Attached Greetz Knuckles Hi all I am building a website for a restaurant where the registered user can do booking in the booking page where user finds the booking form. my problem is I created the log in system but cannot workout with the booking page. I have this scenario - Customer visits site & registers details (name, email etc) on a "registration page" (creating a username & password which goes into your database) - done that Next day, customer visits site and logs in on a "log in page" using the username & password from the previous day which is now stored in your database. Can now make a booking based on this log in. (cannot do this) hi, i am working on a project in school ( web based application ) that requires me to do the whole reservation pannel as in the website. i am trying to do something close to www.expedia.com ( on the left ). any ideas how to do it. i have done my database in php my admin and i use dreamweaver to create my forms as i connected my database to dreamweaver. any help how to do it on dreamweaver without using codes ?? appreciate any help. Hi Folks, I'm creating an equipment reservation system for a client. Every reservation has an equipmentID, ReservationDate, StartTime, EndTime. So, basically my script searches existing records for a given date and EquipmentID. I'm having trouble with how best to approach validation on new reservations to ensure there are no conflicts. Lets say two existing reservations for a given date/equipment are found. One reservation has a startTime of 8AM and endTime of 9AM. The second has a startTime of 12PM and endTime of 3PM. Is there a simple way to check if the user's submitted values for StartTime and EndTime conflict with existing reservations? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! -John Hi guys! First of all I'd like to thank you for reading my question. I think it's a basic one indeed! I've started to learn php and wanted to code a small game in html + php. The principle is basic: I generate two random numbers between 1 and 10, $a and $b. I keep its sum in $result=$a+$b I echo them to the screen and ask the user to input their sum in an html form input field with a submit button. When I receive the value from the html form I want to compare if the user input is equal to the sum of the two numbers presented. What happens is that when I hit the submit button the browser reads all the code again and generates two new numbers $a and $b and I cannot compare if what the user inputted is true or not because the browser reads all the file. My question is how can I control the flow of the program to avoid it. Any tips for a newby like me? select_display.php // I am selecting an ID value from the db, result can only be 0 or 1 if (mysql_num_rows($result) == 0) { print '<big style="color: red;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"> ERROR MESSAGE:</span></big> Update ID number not found'; // I don't want my form to be displayed, just the error message } if (mysql_num_rows($result) == 1) { // Here I want to jump to html <form action="insert.php" method="post"> // I don't want to echo the whole form from within php // Now it displays on either compare because I am displaying it after ?> } I have a flow control statement that has to write "1+2+3+4...+100" and then display the total (5050) on the webpage. The current code that I have is Code: [Select] <html> <head><title>Adding Numbers Script</title></head> <body> <?php $num=0; $sum=0; while ($num<=99) { {$sum=$sum+$num++; echo "$num+ ";} } if ($num>99){$sum=$sum+$num; echo"$num= ";} echo "$sum"; ?> </body> </html> However, I was told that it could be made more efficient by only having one flow control statement in there, rather than the two I have at the moment (the while and the if statements). Can anyone help me make this more efficient? Thanks in advance, Andrew I'm having a issue at the moment where my required page is being read when it shouldnt be. This if statement is true to where the first header in the if statement activates header("Location: forgotpassword.php"); but yet for some reason it reads the required safe page at the very bottom. if i disable the required safe.php the header works. Does required files not work with the flow of a page or something? Cause thats what appears to be going on here. // if npd is in the link the the user access the page from a link in their email cause they forgot their password if (isset($_GET['npd']) && (!isset($_SESSION['user_id']))) { // grabs user name and password from the link then seperates it into an array $seperate = explode("-", $_GET['npd']); $link_name = $seperate[0]; $forgotpd = $seperate[1]; // checks if username matches a deleted or banned account $count3 = "SELECT forgotpd FROM users WHERE name= '".mysql_real_escape_string($link_name)."' Thank you in advance... Hello Guys, My goal is to make a Php and SQL calendar. I started learning php and sql a while ago, and basically got distracted. I'm now back, with a new project in the unhelpful position of having forgotten most of what I had learnt! I am making a project where I want to make a booking system. I have 3 rooms that are available to be booked Room 1, Room 2 and Room 3. I want to make a table that displays the current year in the top row, with the option to be able to click on a '<' or a '>' to change years. I want the same option for months and weeks. I think I am happy with how I would do this. The next bit is more tricky. I want a column for each of the days of the week. directly under this I want to display the correct date, under the correct day, starting with the current week we are on. for example it might look like this: ------------------------------------------- | < 2012 > | ------------------------------------------- | < March > | ------------------------------------------- | < 2 > | ------------------------------------------- |mon | tues | wed| thur | fri | sat | sun | | 5th | 6th | 7th| 8th |9th |10th| 11th | --------------------------------------------- Room 1 | yes | | | | | | | ---------------------------------------------- Room 2 | | | yes | | | | | ---------------------------------------------- Room 3 | | | | |yes | | | ---------------------------------------------- Although at the moment I'm struggling with the whole flippin' thing, the main issue is getting the correct dates to line up under the correct days of the week. I'm not asking for you to do this for me- but a bit of gentle help in this, and maybe some general advice in what I'm trying to achieve would be really useful! Regards, AJLX Hello there! I've been at this for too long! I've got a normal calendar at the side of my website that works fine, however i would like one that shows the next 7 days starting at today. I have an image here that kind of shows what i want... So it will show the next 7 days starting with today, and going into the next month if todays date is the 30th etc. Could anybody please help me? :\
Good Evening ! little help or a lot please ? I have coded a calendar on my site and am now trying to input the data info from MySQL into the calendar by PHP for each corresponding date...the calendar code works but I cant figure out how to get the info that's submitted in to the specified/corresponding date in the calendar :/ but I can get it to the bottom of the page. I've been at this 3 days and a million searches to find an example to follow but now I am at my wits end ! been about 15 years since I've done this. PLEASE help :) and thank you so much The HTML is good I can add to it if needed but the problem area is the calendar portion and putting it all in the right place without an error or code issue. I'm not sure how much more information i can provide. Like I said I am still trying to remember all of this stuff and trying to teach myself again and im not having much luck but i am a fast learner and can pickup by seeing how the code is written usually Here is my code: or at least the PHP portion of it. I want to get a event calendar on my site but i want a basic one so i can tweak it to fit my likings. Thank you SilentHunter I am working with a site that needs some kind of calendar solution. Each user will have their own events calendar. The plan is that your events calendar could sync with google, ical, BB calendar when done. Should I build the calendar in PHP, then worry about syncing with these other apps? Or should I use come kind of 3rd party calendar to power the one I have? Or...does anyone know of any applications that help you sync calendars if I were to create one myself? I looked into google cals, but they have a limit on the amount of calendars per day you can create. Any ideas as to how I should go about this? All answers appreciated! hi, does anyone have a way to take data from mysql and instert it into outlook or blackberry calendar? Hi, I'd really appreciate some guidance regarding the GET method. Thus far I've developed a calendar that displays a month at a time. I've created a 'next' button (div) that onclick - it submits values via GET. This works well. Code: [Select] <div onclick="location.href='cal.php?m=<?php if ($monthly == 12) { $monthly = 1; $yearly++; } else { $monthly++; } echo $monthly?>&y=<?php echo $yearly?>'" id="nextMonth" class="nextMonth next"></div> The complication comes with the 'prev' button, which I thought would be the reverse of the next button (logic wise). Code: [Select] <div onclick="location.href='cal.php?m=<?php if ($monthly == 1) { $monthly = 12; $yearly--; } else { $monthly--; } echo $monthly?>&y=<?php echo $yearly?>'" id="prevMonth" class="nextMonth prev"></div> Can you see any reason why this 'prev' button does not work? FYI, This reads GET and initiates the page Code: [Select] $m = !empty($_GET["m"]) ? $_GET["m"] : ''; $y = !empty($_GET["y"]) ? $_GET["y"] : ''; if ($m) { $monthly = ($m); $yearly = ($y); } else { $now = time(); $cur_month = date("n", $now); $cur_year = date("Y", $now); $monthly = $cur_month; $yearly = $cur_year; } Thanks. Can anyone help me please, I am trying to place a PHP calendar into an existing DIV tag that used to hold a flash slideshow application, but we want to replace that with a calendar. '/language.php'; gcalGetLang($modName); require_once 'modules/' . $modName . '/gcal.inc.php'; require_once 'modules/' . $modName . '/common.inc.php'; require_once 'modules/' . $modName . '/getMonthlyEvents.php'; require_once 'modules/' . $modName .
