PHP - Putting Sql Data Into Array And Sorting It
Well, the title pretty much says it all. I'm trying to extract data from an array, put it into a 2D array and then sort it. Then I need to put it's "place" in the order into the table.
I've sort of got something so far but it seems like my while loop isn't working correctly. $q="SELECT COUNT(*), horseID, total FROM enteredHorses"; $r = mysqli_query ($dbc, $q) or trigger_error(mysqli_error($dbc)); while ($row = mysqli_fetch_array($r, MYSQLI_ASSOC)) { $count = $row['COUNT(*)']; $horse_id = $row['horseID']; $total = $row['total']; for ($counter = 1; $counter <= $count; $counter += 1) { $i = 0; $id[$i] = $horse_id; $total[$i] = $total; $i = $i+1; } } //end while array_multisort($total, SORT_DESC, $id); while ($row = mysqli_fetch_array($r, MYSQLI_ASSOC)) { for ($counter = 1; $counter <= $count; $counter += 1) { $i = 0; $place = '1'; $q = "INSERT INTO enteredHorses (place) VALUES ('$place') WHERE horse_id='$id[$i']'"; $r = mysqli_query ($dbc, $q) or trigger_error(mysqli_error($dbc)); $i = $i + 1; $place = $place + 1; } } I'm getting this error: "array_multisort() [function.array-multisort]: Argument #1 is expected to be an array or a sort flag " I'm really baffled. Any help? Similar TutorialsI'm working on a store locator style program. I first get and sort all zip codes based on a their distance to an original location. I then use that zip code array to find all stores in the mysql database, but when I get the results, they're no longer arranged by distance from the original location.. and I can't just sort them ascending or descending based on their zip codes because that doesn't sort them correctly either. So I need to sort the data I get from the mysql database based on their "zip_code" column and in order from the $zip array.. Here's an example of what $zip looks like.. the zip code is the key and the distance from the original zip is the value [meaning the first key is the $originalZip]: Array ( [70601] => 0 [70616] => 1.12 [70629] => 1.2 [70612] => 1.24 [70602] => 1.31 [70615] => 1.88 [70609] => 3.41 [70605] => 4.4 [70669] => 4.62 [70606] => 4.9 [70611] => 7.23 [70607] => 9.68 [70663] => 9.74 ) and then I create the $WHERE variable by each key supplied: $WHERE = "WHERE zip_code='$originalZip'"; foreach ($zip as $key => $value) { if ($key == $originalZip) {} else { $WHERE .= " OR zip_code='$key'"; } } } Then I do the query [with a paginator]: $query = query("SELECT * FROM " . $db['prefix'] . "stores $WHERE LIMIT $from, $maxResults"); but when I print the data, it doesn't keep the correct sorting format.. if (mysql_num_rows($query) > 0) { for ($i = 0; $i<mysql_num_rows($query); $i++) { $storeData = mysql_fetch_array($query, MYSQL_ASSOC); // print store information here such as $storeData['name'] $storeData['address'] $storeData['zip_code'] } } Is there an easy way to sort the mysql results based on the $zip array? Happy New Year from a Newbie.
I have data in a MySql database table (let's call it data_table) which is input by users via a form. Their input consists of one or a list of items seperated by spaces. This ends up in one column (let's call it data_col) as in the following example format:
id data_col
1 cat
2 elephant giraffe
3 dog rabbit
4 snake cat bird
5 fish dog
.. etc.
I need help with a PHP script to read only this column into a string variable with which I can then (a) use explode to seperate it into an array containing the seperated words and removing the spaces, if any, at the same time and (b) use array_unique to remove any duplicated words in the array, before finally displaying the array as an A-Z ordered list as below.
bird
cat (duplicate removed)
dog (duplicate removed)
elephant
fish
giraffe
rabbit
snake
Many thanks for any help offered.
I'm attempting to create a SQL command that can sort through a concatenated string in my database it is listed at
Colors: blue,red,green,yellow is
SELECT * FROM `shoes` WHERE CONCAT(',',color,',') LIKE '%,blue,red%'
How do I filter the data where it can come up with shoes that are available in red or blue or red and blue and so on?
I could use where find_in_set('blue', colors) > 0 and find_in_set('red', colors) > 0
Is there a better way of doing this?
Shoe name: shoe A Shoe size: 7,8,9 Shoe color: black , brown, grey For example could have a shoe available in black , size 8 or 9 or 8 and 9. Hi guys, I've got quite a few fields in my tables that i've serialised to keep the number of fields down. For everything else that works perfect as it stores the data and when needed I can use the following as an example: $dateofbirth = unserialize($row['dateofbirth']); $dobday = $dateofbirth[0]; $dobmonth = $dateofbirth[1]; $dobyear = $dateofbirth[2]; Date of birth is stored as dd,mm,yyyy and for everything else I can call it fine. My issue is now that i'm trying to use fputcsv to create a csv file using the following: $result = mysqli_query($con, 'SELECT u.user_id, b.dateofbirth FROM Users u INNER JOIN Basic b USING (user_id) ORDER BY user_id DESC'); $fp = fopen('latest.csv', 'w'); fputcsv($fp, array('User ID', 'DOB' )); The CSV generates, but for the date of birth column in the csv it outputs as "a:3:{i:0;s:2:"03";i:1;s:2:"02";i:2;s:4:"1986";}" because it's obviously still serialised. What is my best and or easiest way of handling these fields? Many thanks in advance. Edited by Kristoff1875, 21 January 2015 - 05:24 AM. Thanks to the great help from some great people on this message board I'm right at the finish line on this page. I'm trying to mesh all the coding together at this point, and make it display the information. I keep getting 'mysql_fetch_assoc(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource....etc..(filename/location) on line 51. Am I way off here??? Any help greatly appreciated because the below code is generating an error in my editor. Thank you. Derek here is the line. Groups: Workers => 1 Managers => 2 Workers Group ID John 1 Peter 1 Lance 1 Managers Group ID Carol 2 Greg 2 Brian 2 How can i do this? Hello! I have a 2D array that look as follows: $test["name"][0] = "arnold"; $test["name"][1] = "nate"; $test["name"][2] = "steve"; $test["id"][0] = 2; $test["id"][1] = 0; $test["id"][2] = 1; This means arnold has an ID of 2, nate has an ID of 0 and steve has an ID of 1. Now I want to sort the array based on the ID value, so I want to achieve the following result: $test["name"][0] = "nate"; $test["name"][1] = "steve"; $test["name"][2] = "arnold"; How would I achieve this? Help much appreciated. i have an array from a database that looks like this (below) but what i want is for the array to be sorted assedningly by the start position so the team with start position 1 will be 1st and so on...if anyone can help me on what i should do please...thank you Code: [Select] Array ( [1] => Array ( [team_name] => A Team [team_nationality] => British [start_position] => 2 ) [2] => Array ( [team_name] => B Team [team_nationality] => British [start_position] => 1 ) [3] => Array ( [team_name] => C Team [team_nationality] => British [start_position] => 4 ) [4] => Array ( [team_name] => B Team [team_nationality] => British [start_position] => 3 ) ) I am attempting to sort an array by price but cannot seem to get php to do this. Thanks Simon How to sort PHP2d Array using upon key. eg. I have a array of $users[0]['name'] = "abc" $users[0]['age'] = "12" $users[0]['sex'] = "M"; $users[1]['name'] = "xyz" $users[1]['age'] = "15" $users[1]['sex'] = "M"; $users[2]['name'] = "pqr" $users[2]['age'] = "16" $users[2]['sex'] = "F"; Now I have to sort in on age or 'sex', Hi - I'm modifying some PHP code that someone else wrote. Below is a snippet of code that basically takes mp3 files files within all the folders in a directory, and creates an RSS feed. In the resulting feed, the files are intermingled in date order. Instead, I'd like them sorted by the directory that they are in. So, if there are files in these directories: 01-First 02-Second 03-Third I'd like all the files in the "01-First" directory to come before the "02-Second" directory and so on. Within each directory the files can be sorted as they currently are. The name of the directory in the code is signified by $dir_name. I tried sort() and array_multisort() but I couldn't get either of them to work the way I wanted. Any thoughts? if ($url_params['mode'] == 'rss2') { print getRSSHeader('UTF-8', $device, $vm_config, $vm_name, $web_master, $logo_image,$context); $mailboxes = array(); if ($dev_dir = @opendir($VMHome . $device)) { //might fail if mailbox has not received first message yet while ($f = readdir($dev_dir)) { if (!eregi("tmp","$f") && !eregi("\.+","$f") && !eregi("Exclude-From-CD", "$f")) { //skip tmp directory and Exclude-From-CD Directories array_push($mailboxes,"$f"); #collect all existing mailboxes } } array_multisort($mailboxes, SORT_DESC); foreach ($mailboxes as $mailbox) { $files=array(); $dir_name = $VMHome . $device . Array ( [0] => Array ( [ssc_skill_categories] => Web [sc_skill_categories] => Programming ) [1] => Array ( [ssc_skill_categories] => Actionscript [sc_skill_categories] => Programming ) [2] => Array ( [ssc_skill_categories] => C# [sc_skill_categories] => Programming ) [3] => Array ( [ssc_skill_categories] => CSS [sc_skill_categories] => Programming ) [4] => Array ( [ssc_skill_categories] => Graphic [sc_skill_categories] => Designers ) [5] => Array ( [ssc_skill_categories] => Logo [sc_skill_categories] => Designers ) [6] => Array ( [ssc_skill_categories] => Illistration [sc_skill_categories] => Designers ) [7] => Array ( [ssc_skill_categories] => Animation [sc_skill_categories] => Designers ) ) What i would like to to is display this information in a table like so: <html> <body> <table> <tr> <td>Programming</td><td>Web</td><td>Actionscript</td><td>C#</td><td>CSS</td> <tr> <tr> <td>Designers</td><td>Graphic</td><td>Logo</td><td>Illistration</td><td>Animation</td> <tr> <table> </body> </html> I have been trying and failing all day to do this. Posting my "progress" will clog up the thread, so for now i wont post it. Does anyone have an idea how i would achieve this? Regards, -Ben Hi all! Ok I am trying to put a delimited list like so , EX. item qty, item name, item price | item qty, item name, item price | item qty, item name, item price | etc. into an array so I can access it like this - $product[0] = qty, $product[1] = name, etc. My code just isnt working. This is what I have so far. $prod = array(); //breaking products text down for display $products1 = explode("|", $products); $num_prod1 = count($products1); $count = 0; foreach($products1 as $p) { $prod[] = $p; $products2 = explode(",", $p); foreach($products2 as $p2) { $prod[$count] = $prod[$count][$p2]; } $count++; } |
