PHP - I Don't Understand This Browser Detection Code.
Hi, I came across this code that detects a user's browser and I don't understand parts of it. Here is the code below.

Code: [Select] if ( strpos(strtoupper($agent), 'MSIE')) I know that strtoupper makes all letters uppercase, and that strpos returns the position of the string within the larger string, but I don't know why they are in an if statement. Can I rely on the $_SERVER variable of HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE to get the language of the browser? I know that some browsers don't send things the same way, and even some servers may not use all variables. Is this the most common way to determine the user's language? Is there another or more preferred way?

Hi All, I'm trying to understand the following code. I tried to display the field 'eligible' (an added field to a mysql table) for user input, but I keep getting an Invalid Type error at getFieldHTML('eligible'). I'm struggling to understand how the error methods and properties are being used. I can't see what is being used within the class or outside of it. Here is the code outside the class:

Looking at the 2nd part I cannot see why the programmer has put errors() as $error. Why not just create a method so you don't need to say "as $error". Also looking at the first part:

I don't understand why he has created two methods. Why not just create one? How is the public errors method able to display the errors within the class because _errors doesn't look like it contains anything.
Can someone please break this down and help me to understand this because I've been at this for a while and I'm not really getting anywhere. Your help would be much appreciated.

I have some basic code which is supposed to fetch the contents of a table and then display them in a table. What it's actually showing is the PHP code itself, instead of the table contents, in the browser. I'm using WAMP When I searched the net reasons given were 1. using short tags, and 2. some configuration problem. I haven't used short tags, and my wamp installation was done a long time back. Hello, I had updated from PHP 5.x to PHP 7.2. The issue is that my cron files are not running now. The sites based on php 5 code runs without any issues. Hi there, I've looked into the PHP superglobal array $_SERVER, but could not find a variable that stores the plugins a client has on his/her browser such as firefox and google chrome. The point here is to detect if a user has hacking addons such as firebug and inspect element installed, and displays an error message telling the user to disable such plugins in order to access site content. Is it possible to accomplish such tasks? Please help. I am trying call an R batch file inside php script from browser. The R script basically generate an imgae and save in a folder. Unfortunately, I could call the R within php (means that no image is saved in the folder) using BROWSER. But when I run the php script from the commadline, it works and image is saved in the folder.
