PHP - Allowing User To Change (variable) Mysql Variable By A Radio Button
I am trying to allow the user to update a variable he chooses by radio buttons, which they will then input text into a box, and submit, to change some attributes. I really need some help here. It works just fine until I add the second layer of variables on top of it, and I can't find the answer to this question anywhere.
<?PHP require('connect.php'); ?> <form action ='' method='post'> <select name="id"> <?php $extract = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM cars"); while($row=mysql_fetch_assoc($extract)){ $id = $row['id']; $make= $row['make']; $model= $row['model']; $year= $row['year']; $color= $row['color']; echo "<option value=$id>$color $year $make $model</option> ";}?> </select> Which attribute would you like to change?<br /> <input type="radio" name="getchanged" value="make"/>Make<br /> <input type="radio" name="getchanged" value="model"/>Model<br /> <input type="radio" name="getchanged" value="year" />Year<br /> <input type="radio" name="getchanged" value="color" />Color<br /><br /> <br /><input type='text' value='' name='tochange'> <input type='submit' value='Change' name='submit'> </form> //This is where I need help... <?PHP if(isset($_POST['submit'])&&($_POST['tochange'])){ mysql_query(" UPDATE cars SET '$_POST[getchanged]'='$_POST[tochange]' where id = '$_POST[id]' ");}?> Similar TutorialsHey all, I'm almost too embarrased to post this as I'm sure it is very simple - but for the life of me I can't get this to work. I am a complete newbie to PHP so please bear with me.. What I'm trying to do is to write a program that will go on to calculate a user's Body Mass Index (BMI) based on user inputted data of height and weight. However, I want to be able to accept heights and weights in a number of different units for maximum ease of use. I am trying to write some PHP code that will handle this , the main goal is to convert everything into 'cm' and 'kg' before going on and doing the simple BMI calculation later on. However I am stuck at this point: I have a text field for users to input their weight into. This is immediately followed by two radio buttons for the user to select which units they are inputting their weight in (kilograms or pounds). A third option to input their weight is given after this for those wishing to input their weight in 'stones and pounds'. My problem is as follows: I can't get my code to recognise which radio button (either 'kg' or 'lbs') has been pressed. What should happen is that my code can tell something has been inputted in the text box AND which of the radio buttons has been selected. From this it does one of the two; for the kilogram option it leaves the value as it is, but if the weight has been inputted in pounds (and the 'lbs' radio button selected) then I want the code to convert this into kilos by multiplying by 0.4535. Here is what I have so far (sorry its a bit messy - like i say I am a newbie): <?php //convert.php $ft = $cm = $inches = $weight = $stones =$pounds = $kilos = $units = ""; if(isset($_POST['cm'])) $cm = sanitizeString($_POST['cm']); if(isset($_POST['ft'])) $ft = sanitizeString($_POST['ft']); if(isset($_POST['inches'])) $inches = sanitizeString($_POST['inches']); if(isset($_POST['weight'])) $weight = sanitizeString($_POST['weight']); if(isset($_POST['stones'])) $stones = sanitizeString($_POST['stones']); if(isset($_POST['pounds'])) $pounds = sanitizeString($_POST['pounds']); if(isset($_POST['kilos'])) $kilos = sanitizeString($_POST['kilos']); if(isset($_POST['units'])) $units = sanitizeString($_POST['units']); if ($ft != '') { $height = intval(($ft * 30.48) + ($inches * 2.54)); $out = "you are $height cm tall"; } elseif($cm != '') { $height = intval($cm); $out = "you are $height cm tall"; } else $out = ""; if ($stones != '') { $kilos = intval((($stones * 14) + $pounds) * 0.45359237); $out2 = "you weigh $kilos Kg"; } elseif($weight != '' AND $units = "kg") { $kilos = $weight; $out2 = "you weigh $kilos Kg"; } elseif($weight != '' AND $units = "lbs") { $kilos = ($weight * 0.45359237); $out2 = "you weigh $kilos Kg"; } else $out2 = ""; echo <<<_END <html><head><title>Height & Weight Converter</title> </head><body><pre> Please enter your details below <b>$out$out2</b> <form method="post" action="convert.php"> Height: <input type="text" name="cm" size="3"> cm OR <input type="text" name="ft" size="1">ft <input type="text" name="inches" size="2">inches Weight: <input type="text" name="weight" size="4" /> Kg<input type="radio" name="units" value="kg" /> lbs<input type="radio" name="units" value="lbs" /> OR <input type="text" name="stones" size="2">stone <input type="text" name="pounds" size="2">pounds <input type="submit" value="Submit" /> </form></pre></body></html> _END; function sanitizeString($var) { $var = stripslashes($var); $var = htmlentities($var); $var = strip_tags($var); return $var; } ?> what would be the $_POST variable name for a radio button option? This topic has been moved to JavaScript Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=350095.0 I am wondering if this is posible. I have a group of radio butons. I would like to make them as variables so that I can use an "if then" statment in another part of the page to show an image depending on which button is selected. <form id="form1" name="form1" method="post" action=""> <p> <label> <input type="radio" name="color" value="red" id="color_0" /> red</label> <br /> <label> <input type="radio" name="color" value="blue" id="color_1" /> blue</label> I have to radio buttons at the login page. Both of them are in group1. The value of the first is 'fancy', the value of the second is 'fast'. Also note that the buttons are on the login page, and i want to change the bg on the main page. create table mimi (mimiId int(11) not null, mimiBody varchar(255) ); <?php //connecting to database include_once ('conn.php'); $sql ="SELECT mimiId, mimiBody FROM mimi"; $result = mysqli_query($conn, $sql ); $mimi = mysqli_fetch_assoc($result); $mimiId ='<span>No: '.$mimi['mimiId'].'</span>'; $mimiBody ='<p class="leading text-justify">'.$mimi['mimiBody'].'</p>'; ?> //what is next? i want to download pdf or text document after clicking button or link how to do that Well this may sound confusing. I tried to findways to allow users to input an integer value and then assign it to a variable called $quantity, but all I could find from the internet was the usage of forms. Do I have to use forms, or can I just try this this simple syntax: $quantity = "<input name='quantity' type='text' id='quantity' size='3' maxlength='3'>"; If I do have to use forms, then how can I ever assign user's input value to a variable? Please help. Hey Everybody, I am new to PHP coding and have searched tons of forums and still looking... Please help me with the following: I have a MySQL database. There are several fields in the table, among them are Amount_paid and Amount_returned fields. And there are two radio buttons Amount paid and Amount returned and one textBox where I will be entering an amount. What I need is to assign an entered amount to one of those radio buttons (depending which one is selected) and insert the textBox value into the correct field (amount_paid or amount_returned) of the table. I have all other fields coded ok and they work, but have no idea how to make the above stuff work. The code is attached, please let me know if you need more info. Thanks a lot! EDIT: Sorry, now the file is attached I'm in the process of making a network for investors and entrepreneurs. When they access their profile page, select edit and go to editprofile.php a problem arises with the data base submission. I have the data they have previously inputted being echoed back out to the user. This lets the user see what they have inputted so that they can make changes to their profile. Unfortunately, with my radio buttons, if no changes are made and the user hits submit, the radio buttons return a value of 'unchecked'. I need them to maintain the value previously submitted to the database if the radio button isn't 'checked'. I'm not sure exactly how to do this. You can test it out yourself by going to http://network.jasonbiondo.com Code is below: Code: [Select] ?php session_start(); require ('connect.php'); include ('header.php'); $savechanges = $_POST['savechanges']; $firstname = strip_tags($_POST['firstname']); $lastname = strip_tags($_POST['lastname']); $username = strtolower(strip_tags($_POST['username'])); $email = strip_tags($_POST['email']); $password = strip_tags($_POST['password']); $repeatpassword = strip_tags($_POST['repeatpassword']); $entrepreneur = 'unchecked'; $investor = 'unchecked'; $date = date("Y-m-d"); $companyname = strip_tags($_POST['companyname']); $companywebsite = strip_tags($_POST['companywebsite']); $founder = strip_tags($_POST['founder']); $phone = strip_tags($_POST['phone']); $address = strip_tags($_POST['address']); $city = strip_tags($_POST['city']); $state = strip_tags($_POST['state']); $zipcode = strip_tags($_POST['zipcode']); $country = strip_tags($_POST['country']); $development = strip_tags($_POST['development']); $capitalamount = strip_tags($_POST['capitalamount']); $companydo = strip_tags($_POST['companydo']); $founderbuilt = strip_tags($_POST['founderbuilt']); $whatsnew = strip_tags($_POST['whatsnew']); $understand = strip_tags($_POST['understand']); $competition = strip_tags($_POST['competition']); $money = strip_tags($_POST['money']); $demo = strip_tags($_POST['demo']); $incorporation = strip_tags($_POST['incorporation']); $companynameinv = strip_tags($_POST['companynameinv']); $phoneinv = strip_tags($_POST['phoneinv']); $addressinv = strip_tags($_POST['addressinv']); $cityinv = strip_tags($_POST['cityinv']); $stateinv = strip_tags($_POST['stateinv']); $zipcodeinv = strip_tags($_POST['zipcodeinv']); $countryinv = strip_tags($_POST['countryinv']); $angel = strip_tags($_POST['angel']); $vc = strip_tags($_POST['vc']); $capital = strip_tags($_POST['capital']); if ($savechanges) { $queryreg = mysql_query("UPDATE users SET `firstname` = '$firstname', `lastname` = '$lastname', `email` = '$email', `entrepreneur` = '$entrepreneur', `investor` = '$investor', `companyname` = '$companyname', `companywebsite` = '$companywebsite', `founder` = '$founder', `phone` = '$phone', `address` = '$address', `city` = '$city', `state` = '$state', `zipcode` = '$zipcode', `country` = '$country', `development` = '$development', `capitalamount` = '$capitalamount', `companydo` ='$companydo', `founderbuilt` = '$founderbuilt', `whatsnew` = '$whatsnew', `understand` = '$understand', `competition` = '$competition', `money` = '$money', `demo` = '$demo', `incorporation` = '$incorporation', `companynameinv` = '$companynameinv', `phoneinv` = '$phoneinv', `addressinv` = '$addressinv', `cityinv` = '$cityinv', `stateinv` = '$stateinv', `zipcodeinv` = '$zipcodeinv', `countryinv` = '$countryinv', `angel` = '$angel', `vc` = '$vc', `capital` = '$capital' WHERE username= '" . $_SESSION['username'] . So basically $html needs to be $html1 on the next loop, $html2 on the next, and so on. Its probably simple, but its late and I'm tired, I can't seem to figure this one out. Here is my unfinished attempt: $htmlnum = 0; $endo = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM endorse WHERE endonum = '$endonum' AND agency = '$agency' ORDER BY ID DESC LIMIT 1"); while($endofetch = mysql_fetch_array($endo)){ $endotype = $endofetch['type']; $htmlnum = $htmlnum++; $p->htmltable($html); } Okay, so, I have a script that allows a forum inside of a room in a game. If you want a forum, you mark Yes from a dropdown menu inside the editing portion of the room. It will then save that room's title into a field called `board` in the database. However, when you mark No from the dropdown, it still leaves it in there. I don't want this. I want it to change to NULL. How do I go about doing this? Here's my current coding: if (!islevel($p,$co)) newlevel($p,$co); setlevel($p,$co,"title",filter(stripslashes($title))); setlevel($p,$co,"board",filter(stripslashes($title))); } Explanations: setlevel just connects to the database and inserts these values. $title is obviously the title of the room $co = coordinates for the room Here is the editing page, where the dropdown menu is: <table width=100% style=text-align:center><tr> <td>BOARD:<br /> <select name=b> <option value=0>No</option> <option value=1 <? if ($b == 1) echo "selected" ?>>Yes</option></select><br />Was <?=$b?> </tr></table> Hi, this is a bit of a PHP and a JQuery question, so I wasn't sure which forum to post it in, but here it is... I need a way to asynchronously change a jQuery variable with PHP when a condition becomes true, without user action. I have the following JQuery: Code: [Select] <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.js"></script> <script> finished = false; $(document).ready(function() { setTimeout("Refresh()", 5000); }); if (!finished) { function Refresh() { location.reload(); }; } </script> Then I have the following PHP code accessing the MySQL database every time the page refreshes... Here's that code: Code: [Select] <? $query = "SELECT * FROM TempAwaitingClients WHERE PSOID = '{$_SESSION['user_id']}'"; $result = mysql_query($query); $rowCounter = mysql_num_rows($result); if ($rowCounter > 0) { while ($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result)) { // Condition is true, need to stop the page refreshes echo '<iframe id="audiblealert" name="audiblealert" height="0" width="0" src="telephone-ring-4.wav"></iframe>'; echo '<a href="" target="audiblealert">Mute Ringer</a>'; echo 'Phone Number: ' . $row['ClientPhoneNumber'] . '<br /> Purchased Time: ' . $row['ClientPurchasedMinutes'] . ' minutes<br />'; } } else { echo 'No Clients Yet.'; } ?> Anyone have an suggestions or help? EDIT: I forgot to mention, it's the JQuery variable "finished" that I need to set to TRUE below is the script.i use it for to edit a single .html file. but now i want to edit multiple .html file by this script. so i think i have to change dynimacaly (may be a dropdown form) this line $url = "p".$page.".html"; and this line. can any body help? Code: [Select] <?php function br2nl($str) { return preg_replace('=<br */?>=i', "", $str); } $action=$_POST['action']; $textarea=$_POST['textarea']; if($_GET['p']){ $page=$_GET['p']; } // Assume your text pages are called, p1.db or p2.db, etc. $url = "p".$page.".html"; if (file_exists($url)) { // do nothing } else { $url = "p0.html"; } // where to go back to after the edit ... $return="edit.php?p=$edit"; // Get page $data = implode("", file($url)); if($action=="save"){ $newtext=stripslashes($textarea); $newtext = str_replace("<?", "", $newtext); $newtext = str_replace("?>", "", $newtext); $newtext = nl2br($newtext); //echo "page: $url<br><br>\n"; //echo $newtext; $fh = fopen($url, 'w') or die("can't open file"); fwrite($fh, $newtext); fclose($fh); header ("location:edit.php?p=$page"); } else{ ?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>abeer cms</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="jscripts/tiny_mce/tiny_mce.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> tinyMCE.init({ // General options mode : "textareas", theme : "advanced", plugins : "safari,spellchecker,pagebreak,style,layer,table,save,advhr,advimage,advlink,emotions,iespell,inlinepopups,insertdatetime,preview,media,searchreplace,print,contextmenu,paste,directionality,fullscreen,noneditable,visualchars,nonbreaking,xhtmlxtras,template,imagemanager,filemanager", // Theme options theme_advanced_buttons1 : "save,newdocument,|,bold,italic,underline,strikethrough,|,justifyleft,justifycenter,justifyright,justifyfull,|,styleselect,formatselect,fontselect,fontsizeselect", theme_advanced_buttons2 : "cut,copy,paste,pastetext,pasteword,|,search,replace,|,bullist,numlist,|,outdent,indent,blockquote,|,undo,redo,|,link,unlink,anchor,image,cleanup,help,code,|,insertdate,inserttime,preview,|,forecolor,backcolor", theme_advanced_buttons3 : "tablecontrols,|,hr,removeformat,visualaid,|,sub,sup,|,charmap,emotions,iespell,media,advhr,|,print,|,ltr,rtl,|,fullscreen", theme_advanced_buttons4 : "insertlayer,moveforward,movebackward,absolute,|,styleprops,spellchecker,|,cite,abbr,acronym,del,ins,attribs,|,visualchars,nonbreaking,template,blockquote,pagebreak,|,insertfile,insertimage", theme_advanced_toolbar_location : "top", theme_advanced_toolbar_align : "left", theme_advanced_statusbar_location : "bottom", theme_advanced_resizing : true, // Example content CSS (should be your site CSS) content_css : "css/example.css", // Drop lists for link/image/media/template dialogs template_external_list_url : "js/template_list.js", external_link_list_url : "js/link_list.js", external_image_list_url : "js/image_list.js", media_external_list_url : "js/media_list.js", // Replace values for the template plugin template_replace_values : { username : "Some User", staffid : "991234" } }); </script> <style> body,html{ margin:0px auto; width:700px; text-align:center; } #content{ margin:0px auto; width:700px; } #middle h1 { color: transparent; font-family:georgia; font-size:12pt; margin:0; color: #dF9100; padding:10px 0px 15px 0px; text-align:left; } </style> </head> <body> <div id='content'> <? $ta=br2nl($data); echo" <a href='$return'><-- Return to Page</a><br /><br /> Make Changes and click \"Save Changes\" at the very bottom ...<br /> <form action='edit.php' method='post'> <input type='hidden' name='action' value='save'> <input type='hidden' name='p' value='$page'> <input type='hidden' name='n' value='$n'> <textarea name='textarea' rows='25' cols='80'>$ta</textarea> <br /> <input type='submit' name='submit' value='Save Changes'> </form> <div id='middle' style='width:680px; text-align:left; padding-left:20px; border:1px solid #ccc;'> </div> </div> </body> </html> "; } ?> I have coded a database and I dont like how the user can edit the titles through the get variable.
