PHP - Match And Count User Input Against Mysql Fields

I have a family site with a member list and a forum that both run on MySql.
One of the items in the member list is the birthday.

What I like to achieve is that a day or 2 before a member's birthday, a post wil be automaticly inserted in the forum, (a post that contains that this persons birthday is comming up in a few days) without any user input.
I like to have this done automaticly because I don't feel like setting up a cron job for every member seperatly. There are just too many members.
What I need is a script that will create a cron job or something simular the moment a new member registers and updates his profile and sets his birthday.

So I'm trying to basically trying to make an "advanced search" function in PHP/mysql that will allow users to search by a number of different options like search by zipcode, username, gender, etc.

Now my question is how do I vary my mysql query so that it searches for all these things based on whatever the user inputs?

For example, the user might need to search zipcode and username but not gender, but in another case, might need to search username and gender, but not zipcode. Obviously I could just do some if/else statements, but that would be increasingly more difficult as there are more fields.

What can I do?

I've got a set of results and I need to check them against another database results. If they both are similar then I want to make it as "1" (points). The questions and the answers are in the same order (Question1, Question2, Question3 = Answer1, Answer2, Answer3). sa I guess the maching could be done using a set of arrays.

E.g.
get records from db1 get records from db2
get records from dbY get records from dbX
COUNT the matching data from db1 against dbY = echo TOTAL_SCORE1
COUNT the matching data from db2 against dbX = echo TOTAL_SCORE2

I've managed to get the data from the databases in order. But i need to get the COUNT of the MATCHING records.

I've a simple Inset List (jQuery Mobile) of several items with a Flip switch, Drop down, check box and Slider elements.

I want to know, how I can include only the elements the user selected in my SQL query.
Lets say, User wants to find the Electrical workers in QLD, then he will select Yes for Electrical and QLD as Main Location and the other items he would not touch.
Now, how can I include only those two values in the select clause.
Say, Select Electrical, Main Location from table where Main location='QLD'.
I used POST method to gather users input. I use PHP, MySQL for this project.
Any ideas on how to achieve this.

Hey guys,   Thank you in advance... here is my situation, I have a form with three (3) fields in it, the 'student name' is unlimited textfield with an "add more" button to it and I have two select fields ('number of shirts' and 'trophies') that depend on the number of entries for 'student name'...   I want to create the select fields based on this math, for as many 'student name' entries:   1- i want to have the select form for 'number of shirts' to be 0 up to that number... so if there are 6 'student name' entries, the select options will be 0,1,3,4,5,6,7 2- I want to have the select form for 'trophies' to be 5 'student name' entries to 1 'trophies', for example if there are 6 'student name' entries, the select options will be 0,1... if there are 13 entries, options will be 0,1,2... So if there are less than 5 'student name' entries, the select field will not show (hidden)   of course if there are no 'student name' entries, these two fields won't show up (hidden)   let me know if that make sense and ANY help or directions will be GREATLY APPRECIATED.   Thanks guys!

Although I am deciding on the best route to go on this, I was hoping for any feedback or ideas on the best and simplest approach to the below problem:


Here is my table structu

old_code_1
old_code_2

new_code_1
new_code_2

prod_code_1
prod_code_2

Each of the following fields has 5 digits e.g. 00045, 12654, etc.

What I need to achieve is this:

Concatenate each set (of the 3 sets above) data into one variable e.g. old_code_1 + old_code_2 = 0004512654. So old_code_1 & old_code_2 would become a combined data and the same for the othe 2 sets.

Then. Once concatenated, I need to compa prod_code_1+prod_code_2 with old_code_1+old_code_2 and replace prod_code_1+prod_code_2 with new_code_1+new_code_2 where matches are found.

The new_code_1 & 2 are in the same row as the old_code 1 & 2. So the data is in alignment that way for comparison.

Thanks for any insight or suggestions on how to make this happen in the simplest form possible.

I have a calendar select date function for my form that returns the date in the calendar format for USA: 02/16/2012.  I need to have this appear as is for the form and in the db for the 'record_date' column, but I need to format this date in mysql DATE format (2012-02-16) and submit it at the same time with another column name 'new_date' in the database in a hidden input field.  Is there a way to do this possibly with a temporary table or something?

Any ideas would be welcome.

i'm trying to get the number of users that registered today and the number of users that registered yersterday (seperate), i've got this field in mysql: 'registertime' which stores data in this format 2011-11-14 14:53:49 also i have the field 'time' in the same format that updates everytime the user logs in.

Now previously i wanted to find out users online in last 24 hours, the code i used for that is this:

How could i edit that to select the count just by date and ignore the time (hours minutes seconds) ?

I have a "Users" table. I would like to find out the average users sign up in total. This table has a "joined date" column so I can track how many users sign up in a single day.

For e.g.

August 16 - 10 users

August 17 - 20 users

Auguest 18 - 30 users

The total average of user sign ups would be 20 users based on the above results.

So I am wondering how can I create this function?

However, when I leave both fields blank, errors for the 'else' part of the condition are returned ('Please enter a 7-digit number...'). But it should never get as far as the 'else'....

Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my logic in the first line?...
