PHP - Require And Header On The Same Page?
Hi,
I want to have a require() and a header() on the same page. This is just impossible right? Similar TutorialsI am very confused in between these three terms INCLUDE, REQUIRE, HEADER... Can anyone tell me the difference between these three terms... I just want to run a php file in the if condition.. Basically i do not want to open i just want to run ... for ex. Code: [Select] <?php if(condition) { // run mail.php file } ?> Hello, I have a simple login script that basically, when if you go to a page and you are NOT logged in (saved in cookie) then you get redirected to the login page, else the content is shown. It works, but I currently have my database connection details on the same page, I like to have them on a separate PHP and use require 'connet.php'. So I've gone ahead and done that, but now I get an error saying "Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent". This only happens if I'm NOT logged in. It has something to do with my require "connect.php"; because if I comment that out, it works fine. Here is the script: Code: [Select] <?php //require "connect.php"; // < causes header error // Connects to your Database mysql_connect("localhost", "user", "pass") or die(mysql_error()); mysql_select_db("db") or die(mysql_error()); //checks cookies to make sure they are logged in if(isset($_COOKIE['ID_my_site'])) { $username = $_COOKIE['ID_my_site']; $pass = $_COOKIE['Key_my_site']; $check = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM users WHERE username = '$username'")or die(mysql_error()); while($info = mysql_fetch_array( $check )){ //if the cookie has the wrong password, they are taken to the login page if ($pass != $info['password']){ header("Location: index.php"); } //otherwise they are shown the admin area else{ ?> - content - <a href=logout.php>Logout</a> <? } } } //if the cookie does not exist, they are taken to the login screen else{ header("Location: index.php"); } ?> My connect.php page is just: Code: [Select] <? // Connects to your Database mysql_connect("localhost", "user", "pass") or die(mysql_error()); mysql_select_db("db") or die(mysql_error()); ?> Why is the require causing this error, and how do I fix it? Thanks trying to use a require but not working properly Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'get_extra.php?id=1' (include_path='.') first thing set on page is.. page is profile.php?id=1 $userid = $_GET['id']; code is:require "get_extra.php?id=$userid"; what can i do to fix this? thanks I have a page with results from a query that displays that has a link (works fine - passes variables etc) that deletes that line item from a database. It goes to the delete.php and actually executes and removes the item from the database and then has the line header("Location: page.php"); which returns BACK to the page displaying the results. However, it shows the old results until I hit Refresh in the browser. Its like the header is redirecting to a cached version of the page.
NOTE: This script used to work fine untouched when we where on a shared hosting account. We JUST updates to VPS hosting by the same host. Now this problem has risen and I can't figure out what is wrong. From what I can guess is there is something in php.ini that is either not set, set or set wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Is it possible to refresh parent page before header() So let say i have 2 page, and 1st page is parent page and the other is pop up window Assume that there is an execution of certain script at the pop up window and it redirected to another page and redirected back again to that page As certain data being displayed in both pop up window and parent page..so i wish to have parent page being refreshed once pop up window execute header() is that possible?? I have a header.php, which I include in all my pages, but I'd like to have an individual title for all pages for better SEO - how can I do that? Explanation: header.php <!DOCTYPE> <head> <title>MyWebsite </title> </head> <body> And I would like to have something like this: header.php <!DOCTYPE> <head> <title>MyWebsite | $InsertPageTitle </title> </head> <body> And then: example.php include('header.php'); $InsertPageTitle = "Contact Form"; I tried this exact method, unfortunately it didn't work, so how can I make it work? Thanks Hello, Right now I am learning about Header.. and i asked myself, Can i add a transition to it.
I have the below header. Accompanied my JS/CSS to create this page redirects
header("location: welcome.php"); The transition CSS/JS works by
<a href="#" class="btn js-trigger-transition">Begin Transition</a>
I Can't seem to find many materials about this combination.
Thanks for being there! Hi, I found a code for login page on web which would check against the database and login, I wanted to modify it so that once the password is verified the user will be directed to a new page with the session variables also active. I read about " header()" functionality which would achieve this so i added this to the code but my code seems to fail with the error "Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at C:\xampp\phpMyAdmin\scripts\login1.php:7) in C:\xampp\phpMyAdmin\scripts\login1.php on line 10 " The code for login1.php is as below- For quick understanding i have removed all the section related to DB validation ..so the below code must activate the next page "add_entry2.php" immediately after submit button is pressed. Please see below.. Thanks in advance. Code: [Select] <html> <head> <title>Login</title> </head> <body> <?php if (isset($_POST['submit'])) {if(!$_POST['uname'] | !$_POST['passwd']){die('You did not fill in a required field.'); } header('Location: add_entry2.php');} else {// if form hasn't been submitted ?> <h1>Login</h1> <form action="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']?>" method="post"> <table align="center" border="1" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="3"> <tr><td>Username:</td><td> <input type="text" name="uname" maxlength="40"> </td></tr> <tr><td>Password:</td><td> <input type="password" name="passwd" maxlength="50"> </td></tr> <tr><td colspan="2" align="right"> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Login"> </td></tr> </table> </form> <?php } ?> </body> </html> Hi. I have a simple change password form, when checked and verified and submitted the user is directed to a different web page. I'm getting all the true statements echoed out, but it doesn't go to the go to the next web page. // Thank you Page $insertGoTo = "changepass.php"; header(sprintf("Location: %s", $insertGoTo)); My thought was ounce you get through the while statement without errors you should be able to move to the next check of the actual database... which it does, and it updates the database with the new values. It also echos out Continue 6.... echo "True - Continue 6 GO TO HEADER PAGE"; // Thank you Page $insertGoTo = "changepass.php"; header(sprintf("Location: %s", $insertGoTo)); What am I missing here? Code: <?php session_start(); ?> <?php $submit = $_POST['submit']; // Form Data $email = $_POST['email']; $password_old = $_POST['password_old']; $password_new = $_POST['password_new']; $password_new_con = $_POST['password_new_con']; $errorcount = 0; // Edit anything inbetween the " " for the display error message $errormsg['Email'] = "Email Entered is not in our database"; $errormsg['OldPass'] = "Old Password Entered is Incorrect. Well the title is quit clear! I wanted to know how I can, through PHP, detect on a webpage if it uses the header() function to redirect to another page, in php! ( something like this : header('Location h31uh23i.php'); ) I think I need to use cURL for this! Thank you very much if you can help me! Hi, I have a div which reloads every 10 seconds but I want it so that if it equals something then redirect the whole page when at the moment it just loads the whole page in in the div but need the div as it stores all my variables, anyone know of anything else I can use? Thanks Hello, I am new to some of the rules to PHP as far as what you can POST or SEND via forms in PHP. I am attempting to change the location of a page via the header() function and basically redirect to another page if the weather is inclimate at an outdoor events center. Currently what I have is two different submit buttons that would post the header() redirect based on if the weather is good or bad. Ex. <div style="width:220px; height:50px;"> <form method="POST" action="../../weather.php"> <input type="submit" value="Good Weather" name="weather_good" /> <input type="submit" value="Bad Weather" name="weather_bad" /> </form> </div> Then the processing for the form is this file - <?php if(isset($_POST['weather_good'])){ $myFile = "../myfile.php"; $fh = fopen($myFile, 'w') or die("can't open file"); $stringData = echo "<?php header ('Location:fall_festival/index.php'); ?>"; fwrite($fh, $stringData); fclose($fh); echo "Page Updated"; } else if(isset($_POST['weather_bad'])){ $myFile = "../myfile.php"; $fh = fopen($myFile, 'w') or die("can't open file"); $link = "header('Location:fall_festival/weather/index.php');" ; $stringData = $link; fwrite($fh, $stringData); fclose($fh); echo "Page Updated"; } ?> The file doesn't return an error when it's processed but it also doesn't update the file header and redirect to the proper page. Thanks for your time and help! Greetings... I have been staring at my whiteboard pondering a new architecture for processing data in an application. New for me anyways. I want to create a more centralized and modular method of handling data. For ease of explanation I will put it into the context of a login system which is where I first started thinking about this. I know there are a lot of login systems out there but I wanted to create one from scratch which utilizes PDO although that specific thing is not germane to my main question. Here we go... Lets say that for my Registration, Login and Forgot Password pages the forms on each page were directed to "Process.php" The idea is that process.php will provide the centralized platform to deal with data, acting as a choke point in the application making it easier to secure. This will also provide the means to quickly develop new parts of an application knowing that my methods of dealing with data area already well defined and secure. There is one hole in the idea that I can see though. If the user data being submitted to the process.php page does not meet the security requirements then the user must be sent back to the previous page. I dont' want to lose the data they have already entered into the forms. ie. I want to have it appear in the form fields... makes sense right. Now here comes my question... is there a way to pass POST data when using header("location: http://mySite/previousPage.php") It seems from my experiments that the data is lost. I do not use header(); often. In previous designs I have usually created each part of a login system as seperate and self contained entities apart from using a common db object. I know there are other ways around this, using session data for instance but this idea has been eating away at me for a little while and I feel its time to ask around for some advice. It has become a matter of curiosity. I have found some info on sending POST data using header but it did not seem to meet the requirement that the user and the POST data be sent to another page synchronously. At first I thought that maybe I would just do validation on the frontend / view pages (not to be taken as clientside) and if it was valid, then submit it to process.php, validate it again the let it be handled appropriately to its particular end but then I run into the same problem plus there is the extra overhead of validating the data twice. I guess thats it for now. Sorry if that was a little long-winded... its part of my process, helps me to better understand what I really want to know. Using header() on a receiving page from a form page... the redirecting header() with POST data, sending the user to a new/previous page. Possible? This topic has been moved to HTML Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=328141.0 Is there a better way to define the page name other than require("./anyfolder/any.php"); trouble is i define the page by using ./myfole/anyfile.php but if the page is called from deeper inside my site it dose not work. i have to change all the includes and put an additional . so it ends up looking like this ../myfole/anyfile.php Why would I want to use include() vs. require() ?? (It seems like most people use "include()", but I would think "require()" would be better/safer...) TomTees I've just downloaded a 3d party app and I'm finding that most (98%) of the [files].php have a "<?php" but not a "?>" in them. I created a tst.php...HW and it seems to not care. An improvement? Mox-Nix? Poor form? Or the same coder the loves 0xEEE text on a 0xFFF background because it's sooooo cool.

Okay I have 3 files in the following format: home/run.php home/config.php game/check.php In run.php, I have config.php required as 'home/config.php' and then in config.php I define an absolute path. However, I'm trying to require run.php from check.php but I keep getting an issue because then config.php isn't included. I've tried require using 'home/run.php', '../home/run.php' and even an absolute path. What do I need to do? Hello. Include is identical to require, only require stops any further script execution. Just wondering if anyone could give me a good example, where 'require' should be used instead 'include'. Thanks. Hey all, I've been having an issue with require_once from another sub-directory. Origionally I had all my php files in the same spot but I wanted to make a library to clean things up a bit. Atm I am trying to access my /subFolder/frame_work/sql/dbconnect.rem.php with require once from /subFolder/frame_work/account_data/accountHandler.rem.php. I have looked around a little bit and i know requires\includes looks in relative directorys. So one obvious solution would be to include the entire path name. "var/www/subFolder/frame_work/sql/dbconnect.rem.php". My problem is I will be accessing this from multiple directories and on localhost the root directory is var opposed to my server which is public_html. I like to edit my stuff in localhost before going public with it and it is going to be a real pain if I have to keep switching var to public_html in every file before I upload. Is there any other solutions I could approach? Any responses would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time. |
