PHP - How Do I Use A Function From Another Class?

There's my code, I want to take the variable $islive from the above class and use it in the chat() function.

How would I do it? I've tried making it a global inside of the chat() function.

I am using a separate class for all the functions. And using using the following function "objectToArray" to convert the JSON decoded object to Array.

Because the function "objectToArray" is recursive, array_map(__FUNCTION__, $d) is not able to applies the callback. And throws the warning "array_map() expects parameter 1 to be a valid callback".

How can I get specific array values outside a class or function? About to try "File put contents" I think. That should work right? So I thought the last couple times. Or what would you suggest?. Overwritten previous attempts to share =[

 

Next up is seeing if I can change $file to $var to change it from other locations. Should be easy I reckon.

Hi there people of the PHP forum,

This functions intention is to output the same code 4 digit code twice before generating a new one, I can get it to do one fine, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it to repeat twice before changing on the third call.

I am needing it to do this so that each 'set' of 2 calls to the function (within the class) gives the same 4 digit code.  At the moment I am just making one call & then assigning that single call to a variable and then referencing that var twice, this is not what I want to do, but it scratches the itch for now...

Any idea's/other logic would be greatly appreciated.

I have 2 php files. I am unable to get B's global variable from A's static method:

I've added a CSS class to the main menu of a Wordpress site and wish to remove the class if the browser width drops below a certain number. I've tried a number of different approaches but none has worked.    Some examples:   $(document).ready(function() {

Imagine 6 PHP classes (one each for a product line), that have very similar coding structures, that go like this:

//function that computes stuff inside each of 6 files:

Then there is a single class like so :

Just to bring your attention to it, none of these functions return any result or value, but they nevertheless operate on variables of key interest via side-effects.  That is, they modify variables that essentially act like globals, and then use those variables later ($this->dOk and $this->someVarThatIsUsedLater are one more prominent examples).   I need to untangle this mess.  And make it clean and clear again, and make sense.  How do I best proceed?   I have been wrestling with some ideas... like $this->dOk, can within reason be turned into a return variable of calcD() function, and then be tested against like if ($this->x->calcD()) and I think it will be reasonable enough.  But then there are other functions that don't return anything and just act on variables via side-effects anyway so $this->dOk is one of the lesser troubles...   Other than that, what I am thinking of doing is getting rid of these mini-functions (calcE(),  calcN(), etc.), removing them as a funciton, and putting their body directly into the code, as a first step to refactor.  Many of the computations done inside are just a few lines of code anyway, and the functions kind of hide a lot of side-effects that happen, instead of actually encapsulating the behavior.  So while it may be counter-intuitive to dismantle the functions that appear to be doing something that normally can be encapsulated (computing key variables E, N, etc), I think dismantling them will actually clean things up as far as collecting all the side-effects inside a single parent function thereby making them more visible.   Caveat:  while doing so I will end up with 6 copies of untangled dismantled functions, because dismantling class X and putting its content into each of the 6 product line classes will have that effect.   But my hope is that from that point I will see more clearly to start identifying places where I can start to truly encapsulating the behavior via various structures, instead of masking it.   Problems / Questions: I would like to but I am not entirely sure that I can skip that step of dismantling functions & the 6x multiplying effect. It's probably the same like skipping steps in solving polynomial equations.  Some can do it and some need to list each step of their work. And I am not entirely sure what structures I can replace it with in the end after I dismantle the functions. It also looks like a lot of work.  Is there a better way? P.S. I already put tests on computeFunction() for each product line so I can be less paranoid about hacking stuff up.

I am in the process of converting to Object Oriented from Procedural. To cater for this I have built an admin_login function, contained within a class: 'siteFunctions'.

However, I am having trouble pointing the admin form to the function correctly.

Every time I click 'submit', the form does not process anything. It doesn't even 'think' about it i.e. show the egg timer....

I have built this script heaps of times using the procedural method, so I guess I am somehow doing something wrong with respect to referencing the action attribute of the form (due to my new approach).

I am very new to OO so please go easy on me: I know the script isn't particularly advanced. I just want to get used to putting functions into classes, and then calling the code, before I move onto more advanced stuff.

I have placed all of the files within the same folder in order to rule out driectory path issues.

Im working with php 5.1.6. With xampp 1.5.14. Im also working on a stock application. If I want to say add stock product (add_stock.php) this error is generated on screen. It seems to refer to a function in ump.class.php   Here we go, ump.class.php

I have mysqli object in Database class base:

If I remove constructor on derived class Articles result don't change 
Please help me
