Script gives 1 as output after user refresh the page. Script gives 2 as output it goes so on. i want code to return to 1 after it been refresh 8 times. how can i do that. Similar TutorialsIn Firefox and Google Crome my code works correct, but in IE it doesnt. The problem is that before or after loading a page in IE, $_SESSION is unsetted. If i set $_SESSION['online'] = 1, then after reloading the page then print_r($_SESSION) outputs nothing. I have a site with a members area that uses sessions. I migrated my DB from MySQL 4 to 5. Now my login page does not work. Please help. I want to use array_pop to remove the last item added to the SESSION array. So it would remove the REQUEST item. The problem is that nothing is left in the session array because I pop off the last item each time that the form is submitted. Maybe I need to use array_push to push the popped items back on to the SESSION array after the logic has been applied. I don't understand how array_pop is supposed to work on a SESSION array. Can anyone explain to me what behaviour to expect? I expected to get a SESSION array with the REQUEST item removed but I thought that I would still have all of my SESSION items. I'm making a simple login system with MySQL and PHP (very simple, I'm just starting with PHP). The MySQL portion is done, but I need to ensure only people who are logged in can see certain content. To check if people are logged in, my website checks that they have the $_SESSION['user'] variable set. If it is set, then it lets them continue through the website, if not, it tells them to login. Is that enough security, or can people simply inject a session cookie into their browser to spoof that they are logged in? My idea was to generate a session key cookie when they login (just a random string of letters and numbers) and store that in the database, then on every page, check to make sure their session key is the same thing that's in the database. Is this necessary? Would it make more sense to...
1. Pull all data ONCE and store it in SESSION variables to use on other pages
2. Pull the data from the database on each new page that needs it
I assume the preferred method is #1, but maybe there is some downside to using SESSION variables "too much"?
Side question that's kind of related: As far as URLs, is it preferable to have data stored in them (i.e. domain.com/somepage.php?somedata=something&otherdata=thisdata) or use SESSION variables to store that data so the URLs can stay general/clean (i.e. domain.com/somepage.php)?
Both are probably loaded questions but any possible insight would be appreciated.

(nothing happen) any idea how to solve this? This one requires lots of up front information: I have a page, for this example that I will call page.php. It takes get parameters, and for this example I'll call the parameter "step". So I have a URL like this: page.php?step=1 This page has a form with an action of page.php?step=1. The code on the page validates the posting information. If the information is bad, it returns the user to page.php?step=1; if it is good, it takes the user to page.php?step=2 via header( "location:page.php?step=2" ). So redirection is done by relative path, not full URLs. This all works as expected. Some of you may have seen one of my many posts about email issues. Some users don't get them, and I have determined it is probably because we are marked as spam.
We are a service that grades sales team members on their phone skills. Listening to pre-recorded calls, grading and uploading them to our site, and then another part of our business looks them over and sometimes leaves a message that then get's forwarded to this persons work email.
I have determined there is ways to get marked as spam as default by not having an opt out link. This is not an option, these sales members employer has opted in, and the emails are going to work related accounts hosted at that employer. Also, if one of these staff members is not so bright, or disgruntled they may mark us as spam anyways. The bottom line is that we have very little control over whether we are or are not marked as spam.
So we want to start looking into sending text messages and this is where I start to question how good of an idea this is.
First off, if it was me, and the messages where being sent to a device that my employer did not provide, I would in no way want work related text messages coming to me. Unless there is a vested interest in getting them. IE, I'm the boss at this place and am always on the clock. What if you are on the bottom? It's just a job for you.
What if it is a pre-paid device, text messages cost money. What then? What if they don't even have, or want a cell phone?
The short of it is this. If I'm at a job that is just another job, and this employer tells me that I have to get these messages. I'm going to look for another job. I see the organizations having continuous issues and complaints from their employees. Thus us as a business having issues keeping clients.
What am I getting into here? What are your opinions on this matter? What are your recommendations as to alerting users of something on our site that we can rest assured are being received 100% of the time?
